Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CaptainDippy · 01/12/2006 10:08

I'm back!!!! Gosh, I have just been soooo hectic - and still am!!!!!! Feel in a whirl.....

DD1 has gone to nursery and DD2 is sleeping, so having a wee catch up on stuff here .......

Went to a playgroup thingy with DD1 yesterday, which was nice, then I got home, took the girls to nursery, did housework, caught up a few bits of paperwork, met MIL in town for coffee, went for a quick supermarket shop, went and picked up the DD's, bathed them, put them to bed and then went out to the NCT AGM, got home about 11pm and went to bed!!!!! Still waiting for stuff to happen on the house and DH and I have set a deadline of next Wed to do EVERYTHING in prep for Christmas!!!!! .... So it doesn't all get caught up in the move ..... I've got a social with my Book Group tonight and Christmas Party with DD's tomorrow - Soooo tired and hectic .....

Ahem.

Anyway, great to catch up on the goss.....

Yey for scans ..... Congratulations to .....

hotlips (I'm not finding out the sausage / hamburger situation either! )

ClariceBean - GREAT to see you honey!! Oooooops to them TELLING you it was a girl!! Oh well, I have two girls and can thoroughly recommend them!

AutumnLover - GREAT to see you too! Congratulations on the sausage!

weeonion - Congrats on the girlie - fab news!

Tilli - Yey to the sausage!!

.... and yet another sausage for ellieK - Gosh they are catching up!! Sorry you are feeling Ellie - [hugs] honey - keep posting - we'll cheer you up - admiring your positive attiude sweetie!

As for breast-feeding, DD1 was 8lb at birth and was a GREAT feeder. I fed her for a year and really enjoyed it, didn't find it hard to wean her off either, which was great. DD2 was a bit prem and was tube fed at the beginning, she weighed 5lb at birth and just couldn't feed. She didn't have a v.good sucking reflex and I managed 3 very stressful months. She didn't bottle feed well either; but she is 19 months now and eats like a pig, which is great, especially as DD1 is Little Miss Fussy - Strange how it turns out, eh!!? So, hoping to breast-feed this one exculsively for as long as he/she wants to really, not stressing too much - just go with the flow. NCT breast feeding counsellors are GREAT for troubles / support etc btw - so do use one if you find yourself struggling guys!! 1B3 - It is poss to feed two, speak to a breast feeding counsellor, or even better, get in touch with a local Twins Club and speak to someone who has actually fed two. My friend had twins in April and is still feeding them both!!! She puts them under either armpit, like a rugby ball, it is v.funny and v.sweet!

@ Ebay scam on the Stokke GGF - hope you find another genuine bargain soon and that you get you get your money back. [hugs]

@ horrendeous SPD Cornflake, hoping you get lots of help / relief soon. [hugs]

@ feeling baby kick eca - GREAT STUFF!

Where is MIAM!!!? - Getting worried about her!!

Right, nice mw on phone, so have to go .....

CaptainDippy · 01/12/2006 10:09

Loooong post - Sorry!

Thinking of you Liath honey - [hugs] Let us know how it goes ....

pesha · 01/12/2006 10:25

Having been popping over last couple days and was making notes but have lost them!!

CFK - Don't say that about getting wrong colour!! Would not be funny. I have to swap dcs room over moving dd into the small room and ds into the big room so can share with blue bean which means total redecorating and buying new furniture and have to do it before april cos will not have time or money after and nheed somewhere to keep all baby stuff so would not be funny would be catastrophic!

Ellie and WO, I had AND with ds and looking back I think i probably did with dd only it went undiagnosed. I'm worried it may be trying to creep back on me this time, have had a few weeks when I've felt myself slipping down a little but I'm determined to keep myself up. I really hope you are both able to get the support you need.

pesha · 01/12/2006 10:31

Liath - keep x posting with you. Will be thinking of you and will keep everything crossed, good luck.

CornflakeKid · 01/12/2006 10:45

pmsl pesha - my crisis would be a girl wearing blue - would have to have emergency retail therapy by friends/family - but when the sonographer mentioned the words scrotum/penis - I think she knew what she was looking at - so not too worried lol! Really struggling on names though - having two boys already makes it hard - at the moment we are on Jack or Jake - I know they are very common but we don't actually know any Jacks and only one Jake! We like Max but my nephew is Max so can't use it really.

I have inherited some lovely nursery stuff from my sister and my other sister who lives in Boston is getting me some stuff from Pottery Barn (very cute US stuff - look online) and some clothes from Gymboree - which we don't seem to have around here anymore - ds1 had loads of it - really soft and wears well.

Am looking out for some wee notions nappies if anyone sees any for sale.

SPD crap today - hurts sitting, standing and lying down. Grump. Have taken strong painkillers was given - makes me go all lightheaded - so should go to bed.

Liath - fingers and toes all crossed for you - good luck - big hugs xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

CornflakeKid · 01/12/2006 10:46

ooohh all lightheaded - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

mammyjo · 01/12/2006 10:56

Morning all. Quick post this morning. Just to say liath I really hope everything goes well for you today. Thinking of you chick xxxx

geordiemacminx · 01/12/2006 10:57

Any sympathy going would be much appreciated today... I appear to have picked up a bug and havent stopped heaving since 5 last night... 16 times at last count

Cant even keep water or flat coke down at the moemnt.. spoken to the NHS 24 people and the local suregery but they seem to be of the opinion that its a bug and there is nothing they or I can do other than let it work its way out naturally..

Feeling very sorry for myself!!!

Good luck Liath.. thinking of you babes!!

1becomes3 · 01/12/2006 11:04

Morning all I am off for a day of xmas shopping with DD so this sould be soooooooo much fun! (not)

Elliek- congrats on the blue.
Sorry to hear about WO and Your AND I don't really know anything about it so won't try and offer any advice. I will say keep posting and we will all try to cheer you both up. LOL and Hugs. x

Laith- Will be think of you today, good luck sweetie. Got everything crossed for you.

mammyjo · 01/12/2006 11:14

Poor you GMM. Have you managed any fluids today at all, I would just be worried that you will get dehydrated. If you feel no better by say mid afternoon I would get on the phone to the midwife and ask their advice. Hope you feel better soon {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}xxxxxxx

1becomes3 · 01/12/2006 11:16

GMM-that sounds terrible I just can't imagen not being able to eat at the moment.
[sympathy emotion]

CornflakeKid · 01/12/2006 11:17

oh no gmm - hope gets better soon - really sympathise with you xoxoxoxoxox

opinionsrus · 01/12/2006 11:21

Weeonion and Yvie - you're both definitely more "hardcore" than me then. but I am a real wimp when it comes to maternity leave.

Still babies born after 1st April - we timed that right didn't we!! - will now get 9 months mat pay - hooray for small mercies. Just think 9 months of pay for diddly squat hee hee.

I am leaving at Xmas then having 3 weeks hol and taking the rest of holiday pay at the end of the year which should be just in time for next xmas - nice.

Anyone else working - would be pleased to hear about coping strategies.

PS Yvie - don't tell me that they still don't know - how have you managed that - mine all knew from 8 weeks, a bit early I know but I spent most of the day running to the loo.....

CornflakeKid · 01/12/2006 11:34

Opinionsrus - I was doing fine at work but now with this spd I am wondering how on earth am going to cope - I finish for xmas on 15th and don't gp back til 11th Jan and then go on maternity leave about 10th Feb. So not many working days - they are busy trying to figure out what on earth I will do that doesn't involve walking around/going up and down stairs etc - I am a teaching assistant and spend alot of time chasing round after/checking up on pupils. I will also need to get a parking space saved near the entrance! I am quite worried about it. I know I can get signed off until 34 weeks when maternity leave will start officially but not really what I want to happen unless it gets worse.

Must go to bed now - mn and ebay way too addictive!

CaptainDippy · 01/12/2006 11:37

Oh Geordie - you are feeling so rough sweetheart, hoping it eases soon. [hugs]

Right, few more bits to do, then give DD2 lunch, collect DD1 and off to a friends ......

Hope your shopping trip isn't too traumatic 1B3!!

opinionsrus · 01/12/2006 11:37

Cornflakekid - I know what you mean.

But don't forget that you are pregnant and have every right to be signed off sick which you clearly are in a lot of pain.

You wouldn't be signed off if you were just working as normal would you - don't feel bad about it its totally out of your control!!!!

CaptainDippy · 01/12/2006 11:42

Couldn't agree more!

emmymummy · 01/12/2006 11:57

Morning everyone, have had to have a quick scan through all the posts as these threads move sooooo fast I can't keep up. So I'm afraid I'm gonna be rubbish and not reply to you all seperately aside from saying congrats on all the pink and blue beans! It's all becoming very, very real.

Oh and GMM poor, poor you at being so ill. You can get a jab to stop you heaving, but I don't know if they'll give it to you whilst you're pregnant.

Opinions - I plan to stay at work until 2-3 weeks before my due date. I work 4 days per week and I am lucky to have a job I really enjoy, with great people and a wonderful boss. That said, this week has been rough - so, so busy and my company (which is country wide and you will all have heard of, so I cannot even hint at it's name) places a massive emphasis on what I do, so stress levels have been off the scale this week. Broke down on said lovely boss this week, but he was great and very sympathetic and immediately cancelled an appointment I had which was particularly stressing me out. I know I should be looking after myself, and I am concerned about my blood pressure and the impact on bean, so will be making a huge effort to not allow myself to get so stressed again. Easier said than done.

Anyway, am on leave for the next few days, going to Bath for the weekend later today, so really looking forward to having a mooch around the Christmas market and all the lovely shops, and having a nice meal with dh (dd is not coming with us!).

CaptainDippy · 01/12/2006 12:06

Have a fabulous time in Bath emmymummy! Soooo !!

emmymummy · 01/12/2006 12:22

Thanks CD. Am soooo looking forward to it!

Sexonlegs · 01/12/2006 13:13

Wow, it has taken me an age to catch up! Our internet at home has been buggered, so catching up whist at lunch. I even made some notes!

CFK - what a horrible scary situation with your SPD. I really hope you rest up.

Tili - many congrats on your blue bean - v exciting.

EllieK - great news about your blue bean as well. Hope you are not feeling too low, and are able to get help and support as required. Hugs to you.

Opinionsrus - I work 3 days a week since having dd, and have to say I am finding it more and more tiring. Will probably hang on until the end of March though (baby due end of April). I love my job and the company I work for are so flexible and accommodating.

Liath - really hoping the amnion is/has gone ok, and you get some news soon. Thinking of you flower.

GMM - really sorry to hear you have had a bug - sounds awful. I know there has been a lot going round "down South", and dread catching anything. Feel like buying an oxygen mask to avoid picking anything up! Hope you are recovering.

Maveta - have a great time back in the UK. I have my scan on the 12th.

I think that has covered it - if I have missed anyone, apologies!

All ok here. Went to a Pampered Chef party last night which was good fun. It was hosted by my friend/midwife, and most of the guests were midwives too - felt quite comforted to know!
Knackered today though as was late to bed and then dh had to get up early to fly to Dublin.
Feeling ok apart from tired.

Hope everyone is ok. I am really worried about MIAM. MIAM, where are you????

Better head, as busy at work today. Will catch up later on.
xx

zazas · 01/12/2006 13:18

Hello- echo the others who can't keep up but love reading the posts and thinking of all the other 'virtual' preggie mothers out there!

So congrats on all the scans but thinking of you Leith today and wishing you well...

Workwise - I am still working 5 days a week (school hours thank goodness, so home by 3.30pm to rest). As we own our own business I can't see much of a maternity break. Last time I was employed and I finished 2 weeks before due date and my DS arrived that night - I didn't expect that at all! Can work from home though so will juggle that with my tiredness levels and when the baby is born. Will put some serious thought to it in the New Year!

Hope you are feeling better soon Georgie - it always seems to hit harder when pregnant - I am desperately keeping away from anyone with any sign of being sick - not easy at this time of year.

I had better get back to work - too many deadlines.

Take care all.

Harimad · 01/12/2006 13:44

Hi all,

Big (((hugs))) to all those feeling below par at the moment...

Re: work - I'm still working full time and will probably do so until at least a month before I'm due. We have a big release the week after I'd be due to leave and I'm currently thinking of staying on to keep an eye on, but I have a feeling my diligent feelings will wear off as I get further along!

Maveta - have a great time back on your exotic holiday . I'm sure it will be great to see all your family!

Liath - I hoping the amnio has gone ok for you...

GMM - how awful to have a bug when there's nothing you can do to feel better.. here's hoping its a 24hour max one!

Greengirlforever · 01/12/2006 14:06

Hello - well I have recovered from my mini-depression over the Stokke fiasco and feel brave enough to turn on my computer (and already bought DS2 a pair of curtains on Ebay! ).

WeeOnion and EllieK - I sympathise over the AND. I don't think I have it full on, as it were but I'm very up and down mood-wise. I think that being so tired all the time (I only get the very odd surge of this wonderful pregnancy energy we are supposed to be having now!) and also our bodies changing, whether or not we've been there before, can get to you, in an odd way. Not being as mobile as I was, putting on weight - I think it lowers my resistance to feeling thoroughly miserable from time to time.

Liath - how did the amnio go? I hope you are taking it very, very quietly. That was what I was told to do after the CVS and I took them at their word!

GMM - how awful! Hang on in there and get some rest if pos. I am having a quick post while DS2 is playing with a load of new Play Doh in the kitchen, but he's already come in bored!

I'm beginning to change my mind about work. I work 4 days a week (today is my day off) and I can't really cut down due to the nature of the job. It's such a lottery - am I going to be 2+ weeks late as with my other 2 or will this one be different (cos she's pink!)? I would hate to have no time to myself before the birth IFYSWM so maaaaybe I will finish before the end of March. Hmmmm.....

nuttygirl · 01/12/2006 14:56

Argh...I've been having problems with my internet connection. We've got broadband but it only works if we take the phone off the hook!!!???? Think it's BTs crap wires but we've had them out to it before and they fiddle with it say it's now fixed and about an hour lter it's back to normal .

Sorry to hear about those with AND...I've had a bit of depressionin the past so know what it can be like. Hoping not to get AND/PND but am a bit worried about it. My aunt had PND. I'm sure I'll be fine but DH can be a bit useless at times and I often feel I carry all the responsibility IYKWIM.

SOL - I went to a Pampered Chef evening last night too ....how strange....but mine was up north!!! Did you buy much? I think I've got a shopping addiction....bought child safe knife and mini muffin tray and that wooden thing cos I thought it would be great for when bean grows up and bakes with me just a couple of years to wait!!!

On the bf topic...met lady last night who runs a baby cafe near me so I'm hoping to go to that for some support. She was saying to go along before ben arrives and get loadsd of info and meet people etc. Sounded like it could be a great help!

Liath - all the best for today xoxox
