My little brother is 14...I was 12 when he was born. He's the love of my life, I'm probably closest to him out of all of them in a way :)

sherazade · 26/08/2015 18:54

There are 10 years between my eldest and youngest sister (we are five) and they are extremely close

BeautifulLiar · 26/08/2015 19:16

Congrats sherazade... i haven't had my scan yet but me and DH have played due date bets and mine's on 8th March :) what did you say when the admin assistants asked if you were pregnant? Wondering how I'll handle this!

sherazade · 26/08/2015 19:19

I just say umm yeah kind of Smile and I haven't got round to telling he head yet so can we just keep it between us for now . My head won't be impressed if she finds out through staff room gossip . Beautiful your bump is lovely and neat I just look like a whale already

BeautifulLiar · 26/08/2015 19:41

Oh thank you sherazade, that's really sweet! Oh god yeh hopefully they'll keep it quiet. When are you telling the head? I haven't seen any of the school mums over the summer so will be interesting going back with a big tummy...! I'm sure there'll be lots of Confused

sherazade · 26/08/2015 19:55

They better keep it quiet they were already giggling and saying there was absolutely no hiding it . I'm planning to tell my head on the first day back as its already very obvious !!!

Missdee2014 · 26/08/2015 20:10

Sherazade - my baby will have 9 and almost 12 year old sisters when he/she is born also. I'm a bit apprehensive about the gap but on the plus side they'll be good babysitters in a few years Smile

lilmissiehopeful · 26/08/2015 20:29

Goodness the thread has been sooo busy today! Watching bake off but will try and catch up later.

Congrats on the scans today x

sherazade · 26/08/2015 21:00

Why does Ian always win!!

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 26/08/2015 21:08

Sherazade my EDD is 8th March, too. I will be having ELCS, though and I need to be on my feet by 12th (DD's birthday) so hopefully it will before the 8th!

Congratulations on all the positive scans. I am very jealous of the nice pics - mine is an unidentifiable blob!

I agree that working when pregnant is much easier than looking after children. Having spent 6 weeks running round after a 2 year old and a 5 year old, I am looking forward to going back to school (still with children, but at least they sit at desks!)

QforCucumber · 26/08/2015 21:20

So far this week my facebook has had 4 of my friends announce 12/13 week pregnancies - looks like spring is going to be busy in the north east!

Missdee2014 · 26/08/2015 23:18

Cucumber I'm the same - about 4 FB friends have announced in the last few weeks and there are currently about 10 babies on their way at my work Shock

On a serious note, has anyone experienced breathlessness at all? I've been really quite breathless the last few days. I don't have asthma or any other condition that could be causing it. A quick google indicates it's quite common. A wee bit worried though as even as I lie here in my bed doing nothing I feel really breathless. Not sure if best to call mw or gp tomorrow and see what they say.

julesldn · 26/08/2015 23:28

Missdee - yes, I have! I wouldn't count myself as really fit before but I could certainly walk down the street at a decent pace and not get breathless. Now I'm huffing and puffing by the time I get to the second corner ???? maybe give your GP a ring of its worrying you though!

julesldn · 26/08/2015 23:29

I'm also not sure about the facebook announcement thing - is it possible to do it without being cheesy at all?! Although in a way I think it should be done. A client of mine said an acquaintance didn't announce it and then when baby pics were put up everyone was like WTF?!?! haha.

Glad to hear about everyone's scans! Smile

TheBubGrower · 26/08/2015 23:33

Hi all, am I too late to join this antenatal club? I realise I'm pages behind! I had my 12 week scan on Monday, measured at 12+3, EDD 4th march, 1st child. Had a previous mmc in march and some spotting this pg (likely to be due to a pre-existing cervical erosion) so have been quite anxious up until now but now starting to actually believe this is real! I have a bump already, but not sure how much of that is baby vs bloat! Definitely not going to be able to squeeze into my clothes much longer.

Is anyone else wondering how on earth something as big as our current babies can be moving around in there without us being able to feel them?!

IndomitabIe · 27/08/2015 07:57

Morning, welcome TheBub
(And, I'm only 9+6 but sometimes I think I can feel it. Surely that's not possible!)

Facebook announcements are not really the done thing amongst my friends. Subtle hinting (by liking a baby wearing or organic baby classical music signing group), maybe an inadvertent bump pic in late pregnancy but then birth announcement at least 4 days after the event is the formula here.

And now I realise my friends are Facebook snobs and a bit pretentious! I feel like I will rebel by posting a "fuck me I'm fat" status at some point. Or something they can collectively frown upon! Grin

marmitemofo · 27/08/2015 08:15

welcome thebub and congrats on your successful scan Grin

not many of my friends have children (barely any in fact) but I don't actually see that many Facebook announcements on pregnancies. people I know vaguely on Facebook tend to leave it till quite late on, after the 20 week scan. last time I did it around 17 weeks. DP has asked me to leave it a few weeks as he wants to tell his two supervisors (he's a postdoc) first and is friends with other work people on Facebook. so it'll probably be around the 17 week mark again.

in terms of how to not do it cheesily, I have no advice! last time I just said that it was getting obvious now so thought I'd let people know who we hadn't had a chance to tell personally, then put a scan picture up. I'll probably do something similar this time.

Me624 · 27/08/2015 08:22

Welcome TheBub, you are my first due date buddy! I'm also due 4 March. Exciting!

Most people on my fb either put up a scan pic or just do a straightforward status update. There have been one or two who did no announcement and then people would just see a bump pic late on and be like whaaaat? And then there have been one or two properly cheesy announcements eg a picture of their dog/cat with a sign saying "I'm going to be a big brother" Hmm

I think I'll probably do one, but it will be as non-cheesy as possible!

BeautifulLiar · 27/08/2015 09:07

I just put a scan pic up and wrote when it was due etc, but I don't have Facebook now so won't be doing any big announcements! The friends i don't see very often... well I'm going to text them the scan pic. Some people are going to be in for a shock!

Welcome, TheBub :)

TriJo · 27/08/2015 09:15

We probably won't do a FB announcement until around 20 weeks. We haven't even told either set of parents yet but have told a handful of close friends, will be telling DH's parents first at 13 ish weeks when he's home in September, and mine at 15 weeks when they're visiting us in London in early October.

My brother and his DP told everyone at 12 weeks, but they happened to have their 12 week scan on December 23rd so telling everyone over Christmas was a no-brainer!

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 27/08/2015 09:17

Morning all and hello to newbies! Grin

Had a good old read this morning, lots being discussed! I will have a 19 month age gap when new baby arrives and it's making me most anxious!! Effectively 2 babies - going to be be fun however DD sleeps through already and is quite easy going so I hope it stays that way! I am finding being pregnant easier this time round despite looking after a toddler (just, she's only 13 months but is walking!), last time I had to teach teenagers full time with raging sickness and it was hell and really stressful! At least DD still naps twice a day and will sit for a cuddle and watch cbeebies! I'm slowly getting my energy back so I took her to the zoo and a toddler group yesterday!

I've been with DH 10 years and married for 3, but I don't think it matters that much. We had 95 day guests as we have huge families who we rarely see so it was a great day spending it with all the people we love in one place! The expense was shared between 3 too so the burden wasn't too much! Im glad we did it as otherwise we never would I don't think, not for a while as I've spent the last 18 months and the next 18 months pregnant or lactating!!

Regarding fb updates - I really don't want to be cheese and tempted not to put anything on there but I know that come tomorrow afternoon I will be holding that scan picture and taking a photo to put on fb, but that's just me, I am a bit of a show off! Tempted to get DD to hold it and put 'I'm going to be a big sister March 2016' teeheehee - too much?? Cringe!!

QforCucumber · 27/08/2015 09:42

I had the idea of buying a dummy and just putting a picture of it with 'arriving March 2016' or something rather than the scan picture,

I have family in Canada and Germany so will let them know with a private message me thinks.

Smirkingpicnicbasket · 27/08/2015 09:45

I like to let all my family and close friends know first as I dont like them finding out through fb!

Rosieblossom123 · 27/08/2015 09:55

lilmiss we are due date buddies :) on my 9+6 week scan they said that measurements look right but my 12 weeks scan is tomorrow so I will hopefully get a more accurate one! So nervous and excited!

Who's having a scan tomorrow too?

QforCucumber · 27/08/2015 10:02

having some funny aches and pains today - not so much a cramp but a definite constant ache across where like the top of my trousers sit but internally.

woke me up a couple of times in the night and hasn't eased off, hoping its just stretches. roll on the 7th, I don't think anything is going to set me at ease until this bloody scan haha!
