Congratulations tiny on being team blue - your instincts were spot on!

Car seat wise, not totally sure - have been looking at the new Maxi Cosi I size pebble plus, with the new base (nightfall I'd be interested if Which has reviewed it yet) - but was also looking at the Cybex equivalent (can't remember the name but again would be interested in opinions).

I kind of want the flexibility of being able to use on pushchair (Bugaboo Buffalo) but know I won't use often as I will prefer the carrycot. But then again I make biiiig babies and having a section so won't be able to carry them myself really as by the time I can lift properly after op she will probably be too heavy for me (going on past experience and my general feebleness!) So interested in alternatives!

Evening everyone hope you are all feeling well.

Congratulation on team blue Tiny and on your anniversary. Did u have a nice day with DH?

Welcome Claire if you can keep up with the thread you are doing better than me!!

Having a mixed week myself. We bought our pram last weekend and I ended up buying a new crib (which I didn't need but fell in love with)
I've been over emotional all day and even cried at work, I hate pregnancy hormones. Our owl was killed by a fix last night and I know she wasn't a normal pet but I raised her from a fluffy chic. I'm heartbroken.

Nightfall1983 · 19/08/2015 19:33

kep the "Maxi-Cosi Pebble 0+ 2wayFix i-size" is a Best Buy and gets 79%. It sounds like a great seat and having the 2way Fix base included should encourage more people to get the 2way Pearl as a next stage seat which is ERF to 4 years so that's fab. Purely out of interest, Which? to give a (slightly) higher rating to the Cybex Aton 2 with base and a (very slightly again) higher rating to the Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix with Easyfix base. The differences are very very minor though. Again out of interest the highest rated infant carrier is the Recaro Privia Isofix (dunno if that fits your pram though)...

Aww sweetpea - that's awful!!! Owls are lovely!!! Sad

Lily - I am Craving a glass of wine so much!! I just want to sit in my local with a bottle of wine and nachos!!!

Not felt any popping again since yday so I'm thinking it's maybe wind?? Never mind!
Can't believe I'm almost halfway through!! It's flying in!!! Grin
Hope everyone is well.

AlohaMama · 19/08/2015 19:50

Shame I don't just need a new car seat. Instead we think we need a new car Sad

Nightfall1983 · 19/08/2015 20:03

Oh Aloha you just reminded me that I was going to mention that by far the MOST important thing about a car seat is that it FITS YOUR CAR well and is fitted correctly. The best safety rating in the world is worthless otherwise :)

MissSMartin · 19/08/2015 20:05

wynsey I think it is still most likely your baba.. I felt one 'flick' a few days before i started to feel movement all day lol.. Grin

omg I've just realised the cheese I bought is the extra hot mexicana and not the normal one! it's extremely hot my mouth is on fire.. but I want to have some more.. ( I've just ate 1/3rd of the block haha)

re- car seats I just have the silver cross car seat that clips on the isofix Base in the car and straight onto my pram for the first few months.. then I'll look into a new one later on

JadeMarie123 · 19/08/2015 20:14

TeenieDeenie · 19/08/2015 20:33

Evening all! So I couldn't understand why I haven't been able to log-on, but after reading part of the thread and a password change, all is well again. Phew!

Tiny, yay! Congrats on team blue, we must have a good split of pink/blue now surely?! Smile

Again, a little off topic but what does everyone think of middle names? Are they old fashioned? Do they need to be family orientated? Or is it acceptable to use another name you just like that suits the chosen first name and surname? My OH has no middle name and thinks they're old fashioned, whereas my middle name was my grans that I never met as she died before I was born. Sure it's a nice gesture but realistically I've only ever used my middle name when filling out forms and paperwork. Just wanted to get some other thoughts opinions on this. Smile

lilyb84 · 19/08/2015 20:40

So sorry to hear about your owl sweetpea - although props to you for having a pet owl in the first place, that's amazing! Horrible foxes Sad

Welcome back lutrinae, haven't spoken to you in the real world for a few days either so hope all's well.

Middle names. Interesting question. I personally feel they're a bit redundant (I wouldn't say old fashioned necessarily) but are a nice way of a) giving someone a meaningful name that you wouldn't want to use for their first name, such as a relative's name, or b) giving someone options if you've chosen a slightly wacky first name that they may wish to change later in life!

We'll be giving ours a middle name for sure and part of me hopes it's a girl so I can use my nan's name - it was Agnes which I wouldn't use as a first name but would love to honour her somehow as she was a very special person.

If it's a boy and DH has his way there's a good chance that both first and middle names will be inspired by famous actors... I won't reveal who just yet Grin

Nightfall1983 · 19/08/2015 20:50

Well my son has two middle names, very carefully chosen so that his initials spell out THOR which we were geekily very pleased with. Plans are afoot to have this little one's initials spell "STAR". Twee but we love it :)

lilyb84 · 19/08/2015 20:55

nightfall I'm officially in awe of you.

Wynsey · 19/08/2015 21:16

I have no clue about car seats!! I always think when I'm babysitting what a pain it is to lift the car seat in and out every time - but totally get the reasons why! Hmm I just don't know!!! Will do some research!

With regards to middle names - I never had one. My DH has one and he hates it - it's named after some relative and only has to use it when filing out forms. So I don't personally see the point.

Jade - I have a Hen Night which I'm BM and 2 evening receptions! I've been looking all day for an outfit. ASOS have some lovely outfits. New Look have a great sale on maternity but no much dressy stuff. Next and Topshop also have some stuff.

17+2

TeenieDeenie · 19/08/2015 21:21

Nightfall, that's brilliant! I never even thought of doing something like that (insert clapping icon here) ha ha!

MissSMartin · 19/08/2015 21:27

teenie I'm using my nannas middle name as it was her mum's and her mum's before that.. So it the middle name will be May Smile

MissSMartin · 19/08/2015 21:28

nightfall that's so cool!!! Grin

Blackandwhitecat3 · 19/08/2015 21:33

Middle names are awesome. When I'm having a bad day I just have a giggle at some of the pupils' middle names (without telling anyone of course)

AlohaMama · 19/08/2015 21:34

I don't think middle names are redundant for the reasons mentioned above. Also helps for identifying you from someone else with same name. My DC were both born in Hawaii so both have Hawaiian middle names but English first names as we knew we'd be moving back. Now not sure what to do about this one, traditional Hampshire middle name??!!

Sweetpea80 · 19/08/2015 22:00

I agree with others that middle names are slightly redundant. They are hardly used but a lovely way to honour people who have touched our lives. We will be having two middle names my mums first name which was also my GGrans name and my DPs mums name. Neither we would use as a first name but as this will be my mums last gran child and my DPs mums first and last we thought it would be nice. We are still undecided on a first name.

Lily my DP has birds of prey which I do like and although I bought the barn owl for him I raised her and she was spoilt a little by me. He doesnt see them as pets but as a sport. I was very attached to her. ????

mrschatty · 19/08/2015 22:01

teenie re middle names I'm having my sisters name for middle name I'd a girl. If a boy going to give it sane middle name as my dad. It was his dad's name who I never knew.
lilly my gran is Agnes too! But my sister already has Agnes as her second name! She LOVEs it!!
We have the silver cross car sear it does for into our pram silvercross monochrome 3d and can be used on isofix in dh car and without in mine cos I have a bit of a banger ha!

hotcrossbun83 · 19/08/2015 22:36

Iloved having a group 0 seat I could remove, really useful for visiting other people as you have somewhere for them to go when you need the loo etc and can keep them in it if they're asleep. Ds already has an erf seat so we'll move baby into that around 1 so ds will be 3, he can have a ff seat then

brickiemum2 · 19/08/2015 22:37

Despite changing my password last night I've just been unable to get on again. Had to reset my password twice before it's let me in to comment.
I think something untoward is going on again Confused
