my step mum said she's going to be a handful if she's like this already haha. . im so relieved! was really weird seeing her facing forward she was sat up straight on her bum. . the doctor printed me 5 pics 2 of the heart and 3 if the baby Grin he was telling me about his kids.. he made me feel so calm he was really the loveliest Dr I've ever seen..
I now know my placenta is across the back towards the bottom.
feel guilty I was only in work for 2hrs which was a quarter of my shift Confused
but my manager sat with me for ages while I was waiting for my dp and was reassuring me! I thin she deserves a thank you card flowers.. chocolates and wine when u go on mat leave lol

SleepyDragon · 15/08/2015 13:44

Crumble beautiful words, made me well up a bit...

mrschatty · 15/08/2015 13:44

Aww missmartin I'm so happy!! Feel up and relax now!
sleepy thank you I'm glad it's getting more noticeable thank you!!!

coffeenut · 15/08/2015 14:43

glad you're okay miss

Romeolovesjuliet · 15/08/2015 14:48

coffee out of interest what car do you have and what seats are you older 2 in. We are just starting our car hunt as can't get 3 across back of our current car.
misssmartin as others have said it's normal for movements to still be sporadic at the moment.
My birthday is a month before my EDD and DD's birthday is the day after my EDD. I had her at 38 wks and DS at 39 weeks though so hoping to stay clear of both (not bothered about my birthday but wouldn't want it for DD or the baby, they should have their own day). My friend had her twins, 2 months early, on her birthday! What are the chances!
DD (3.5) keeps asking how the baby will come out - any ideas on how I answer this and how truthful I should be? Have just side stepped it so far but she doesn't tend to forget or give up!

MissSMartin · 15/08/2015 15:01

my step mum tells my 7 year old sister the doctors take it our your belly button haha Hmm

mrschatty · 15/08/2015 15:12

romeo growing up with a midwife mum I need to say honestly was the answer my mum gave me from day 1. A grown up lady has a part of her bottom where a baby comes out of. Obviously not for everyone but we grew up with a very open and honest outlook on babies and the body...

moonshine25 · 15/08/2015 16:38

Missmartin I'm so pleased everything is ok!! What a fright for you and so lovely that you had a caring doctor!!

I've been feeling more ripples and flips today and DH even felt one from the outside which I got very excited about but because he's hungover he seems very underwhelmed - ah well! Not giving him any sympathy either after waking me up at 2.30am to let him in - rant over!

My due date is a week before my DH's bday - think it'd be lovely for them to have the same bday - although maybe not for DH!

17+5

ValancyJane · 15/08/2015 16:54

Miss Really glad all seems to be well and the doctor was so nice Smile. Are they doing to look into the pain anymore, or are they pretty confident baby was just pressing on something?

Distracted That sounds very stressful, and I bet that midwife didn't help, glad you and baby are all alright. Congratulations on team blue!

Juniper I read that thread at the time and found it pretty depressing. I know a lot of people with kids and can't imagine anyone saying they wish they'd not had them (and most have more than one, so must like them enough to have another!)

ValancyJane · 15/08/2015 16:54

*doing, not going. Just woke up from my nap Wink

ValancyJane · 15/08/2015 16:55
  • I mean going, not doing!!! Might push the boat out and have a second coffee today......
SleepyDragon · 15/08/2015 16:55

Just saw this..... Made me cry..... I'm not normally soppy, I blame hormones....

Oysterbabe · 15/08/2015 17:04

My hormones can't be that strong yet as it just makes me want to puke Grin

MissSMartin · 15/08/2015 17:20

valancy no they don't seem too concerned. he said when we are pregnant we get swelling on our pelvis.. my is however the size of a bladder Hmm .. but they don't know if that's why! ?

MissSMartin · 15/08/2015 17:24

2 cups of coffee will be fine..
you can have 5 cups of pg tips tea (not that I would) as there is 40mg in each cup and the guideline is less than 200mg isn't it. .. but it's sneaky caffine like chocolate that people don't normally think about lol.. im craving a redbull.. might treat myself tomorrow as long as I don't consume any other caffinated product. . I'll just sip it all day Grin

SleepyDragon · 15/08/2015 17:31

That made me laugh Oyster lol!

2 cups of instant coffee or 1 ground
Or
4 cups of tea
Or
4 cans of coke

Apparently.....

Romeolovesjuliet · 15/08/2015 19:00

Just reading back and I missed loads of posts when I posted earlier - glad you're ok misss for some reason I didn't see your posts about going to hospital earlier (wasn't being insensitive).
juniper you are very much in my neck of the woods (we were in bushy park this morning).
There are many things I miss about life before children (mainly sleep related and I have been lucky with 2 great sleepers) but none of those things make me regret my decision to have them and they bring waaaaay more joy than a good night's sleep (or an expensive handbag or a fancy holiday etc etc) I also figure that there will be years and years of being able to do the things we can't do now once they are grown up.

Romeolovesjuliet · 15/08/2015 19:14

Oh and I agree mrschatty something close to the truth would be my preferred option - don't think I'm doing her any favours by lying to her. I am a bit worried she will ask to see the hole though Confused

AlohaMama · 15/08/2015 20:16

What an awful holiday distracted, glad you're safe home and feeling better now.

And sounds like a scary morning for you Miss's. Glad baby is OK but it would be nice to know what caused the pain.

Romeo I've watched some animations with my DS (4) showing a kind of time lapse of baby growing in the womb and then being born, nut not at all graphic. He's enjoyed watching those and o think the birth part just kind of passed him by. If he asked id probably be fairly scientific but without going into all the specifics but that is because me and DH are both scientists so we tend to answer q fairly factually. We're also looking for cars. Really wanted to keep our but even if we could squeeze three seats, doing up seat belts would be a struggle. dH is doing internet research as I type.

BeeMyBaby · 15/08/2015 20:30

Romeo I just told my DDs that it came out of the area near the front of a lady's bottom, but the action is a bit like doing a poo and it hurts but just a little (I don't want to scare them). They were thoroughly amused by the poo comment though...

MissSMartin · 15/08/2015 20:43

Oh romeo don't worry I would never think that! I miss a hell of alot as I only read back about 10 comments lol
Bee Aww that's a funny!

CubanoHabana · 15/08/2015 20:48

Just Marking place. Dh has been off work last 2 weeks so missed loads. Hope everyone is ok and congrats on scans.

mrschatty · 15/08/2015 21:32

Haha romeo good point!
Just back from a lovely thai with dh but I get full dead easily these days...baba most be restricting my tummy!

frozenfairy123 · 16/08/2015 06:23

missS glad your ok!
distracted what a horrible time for u but glad all seems ok now!
kep I miscarried on my birthday 4 years ago so I know how u feel but I try not to dwell.
I can't remember who said about the overwhelming feeling of love u get for your children? But I wanted to say that it took me about 3 weeks after my son was born to feel it after a difficult labour. So don't expect it to always happen straight away.

The things I miss once u have kids are the ease of going out with my hubby or going shopping on my own but I think u appreciate all those little moments u do get and suddenly get excited over a 10 min trip to Tescos on your own. Obviously sleep and lie ins I miss too but I now go to bed at 9pm most nights to make up the sleep. I also know I coped with 14 months of getting up every hour and a half through the night whilst still running a business and doing everything else so it can be done. I'm seriously hoping for a good sleeper this time!!!
On holiday this week so will try to keep up when I can. Hugs to all xxx

coffeenut · 16/08/2015 07:17

romeo we have a Subaru forester, and we were able to fit two Britax car seats (car seats only avail in Australia, but they are one of the narrowest models which is suitable from birth to 4 yrs, so can be both forward and rear facing), plus a narrow fitting booster seat. I did some research on forums and found the narrowest models - luckily the ones we already had for DD1 and DD2 were some of the narrowest available. I wouldn't recommend the Forester though if you need a new car. It's brilliant to drive but if I was choosing again I would get something wider - even an inch or so would be nice! Or a 7-seater although most of the models I researched were absolute gas guzzlers and that makes me feel a bit sick, wasting all that fuel.

On the issue of getting the baby out, I've told DD1 (5) the truth and she was fine with it!Although when DD2 was born, I told DD1 (2.5 at the time) that she came out "between my legs". It's a tricky one at 3.5 though, they are cluey enough to want to know more than just that!
