Great news haquoi. Must be such a relief for you.

Rufus no idea what that could be. Would flight socks help?

CalypsoLilt · 14/08/2015 14:25

haquoi it ticks all my boxes
full travel system available with lie flat option for baby
parent facing
car seat meets safety regs
not a rip off! Grin the thought of paying over £350 for a buggy causes a sharp pain in my rectum.

clarabellski · 14/08/2015 14:56

Hi rufus, no clue sorry! I sometimes get restless legs which feels like a pulse/twitch but think you'd be better asking a professional if it doesn't go away!

On a sillier note, I'm off on holiday to Northern Italy (near Austria) in a couple of weeks and thought I better find out how to say pregnant in German and Italian just in case! The German word made me giggle 'schwanger' - sounds like something Austin Powers might say!

StockingFullOfCoal · 14/08/2015 15:15

Flowers For everyone having a crap time with test results.

I'm currently on the sofa recovering from dental surgery yesterday. Its rather grim. DDs are on holiday with my Dad so I'm totally alone. Mmmm codeine. Although I'm trying to avoid taking it. Tis difficult with a huge black crater in mi gob. It really hurts.

My cooker has decided to trip the fuse constantly so I've had to switch it off at the wall. I've emailed STBXH considering he's an electrical engineer, the least he can do is come and look at it for me. Although I haven't seen him since he left and he's been ignoring me. Hmm

S'all I bloody need, I'm on the bare bones of my arse finance wise.

Prams: total minefield. I've had many. Different babies like different things. Eldest DD was prem and tiny and so she faced me in a Quinny Buzz till 18 months old as she hated being outward facing. Youngest DD I had a Bugaboo Bee which was brilliant for City life but when I moved to the sticks I sold it (after 6 months of use for £400 - I paid £550 brand new from JL) as it wasn't sturdy enough. She also wanted to be outward facing from about 6 months. Went mental if I had the seat facing me Grin

This time. Close Caboo sling. And another Quinny Buzz as its all terrain now. I'm not fussed about carry cots on prams (they kinda freak me out, I live in a very hilly place and walk up a steep hill on the school run, wouldn't the baby just slide around in a carrycot?! Or am I being really dense? Blush ) Anyhoo there's a newborn insert for the Buzz which means they are flat.

StockingFullOfCoal · 14/08/2015 15:17

Re Maxi Cosi: LOVE them. Cabriofix is brilliant. Also have a Tobi and a Pearl. Can't fault em at all.

NoMontagues · 14/08/2015 16:19

clara I was demented with restless legs with DS.

I found iron (I used spatone) helped.

Littleoakhorn · 14/08/2015 16:45

Clara schwanger is pronounced "shvanger", and you need to say "ich bin schwanger". It still sounds a bit Austen Powers though...

Pregnancy is "schwangerschaft", with the last but pronounced "shaft" like you're from the north of England, not "sharft" as though you're the Queen.

Pain is "schmerz", said as "shmerts"

If in doubt just shout in English and wave your arms. Wink

clarabellski · 14/08/2015 16:56

Awwww oakhorn Sad I wanted to say schwanger!!!!

I think by the time I go on holiday I'll just need to point at my belly and raise my eyebrow. Although they may just think I'm saying I'm fat. Blush

Nomontagues touch wood I haven't felt it during pregnancy as yet. I got it a lot growing up but less frequent now I'm older. Does it sounds like what rufus is describing?

haquoi123 · 14/08/2015 18:22

clara, 'sono incinta' is I'm pregnant in Italian (although you probably already know that!) the German is far more exciting.

Again, not to be pessimistic, (keep in mind I only know of three people who have had trouble with babies abroad, myself included), but I'd kick myself if I didn't say it: travel insurance that covers pregnancy is a must, know the name of the nearest hospital and ring midwives in UK if you have any concerns. If I'd been in the UK if have sought help a lot sooner. I was furious when I heard about that couple who'd gone to the US with no travel insurance and had their baby premature (luckily who survived) and then couldn't afford the quarter of a million dollar fees. Complete and utter eejits.

That's the last of my unsolicited advice, promise! (or at least I'll try). On a lighter note, here is my slightly sinister looking baby (very cute on the scan, it's obv not a photogenic baby!). It's facing us, possibly with its hand up to its eye? the skull one was a little more scary!

Oh yay great news haqoi :) lovely little picture of bubbas face!

Rufus200 · 14/08/2015 20:55

haquoi lovely pic, 1st time I've seen a pic from that angle

What is everyone doing with moisturising bump/podge? Looking for some recommendations to stop stretch marks that actually work.

Clicked my hip and the horrible pulse has reduced, so something must have been compressing my blood vessel and has now moved, still there but much less noticeable. Think I'm going to have a terrible time with my hips/pelvis as I get further along.

teaandcake2016 · 14/08/2015 21:29

Mama mio was recommended to me to help prevent stretch marks - not cheap at all but smells lovely Smile

BananaRaces · 14/08/2015 21:59

I've been using Mother's Balm from Neales Yard. I don't know whether it'll be any good for the stretch marks but it's nice natural stuff and it's making my skin feel really happy. Smile

Lovely scan haquoi

I've been using bio oil on my bloat, no idea if any good.

Off to France tomo but think we have wifi so I'll keep in touch!

NoMontagues · 14/08/2015 23:21

rufus glad your leg is a bit better, I was going to say maybe it was a nerve or something?

clara I know restless legs are described in a range of ways, but for me it's mostly in my calves and feels like a cramp that will be relieved if I stretch out my calf muscles, but then when I do stretch them the relief only lasts about 10 seconds. So it's just a constant cycle of cramp, stretch, cramp, stretch.

I really hope I don't get it again but I've already had a touch of it a few times when I've been tired so I think I might Sad

NoMontagues · 14/08/2015 23:23

Oh and haquoi I meant to say congrats on the scan!

Happytimes2 · 15/08/2015 02:52

Prams! I love my greco evo travel system! Has car seat, and a pram can b parent for forward facing easy to fold up but not particularly compact. I got the carry cot but it was a bit of a waste cos he was only in it 2 min. And the best bit is its still in the garage from ds. I'd definitely recommend getting a cheapo stroller as well for swimming etc when u have to leave it.
We went second hand for most things and saved a fortune. Think it was just the cot, parm and steriliser I got new. Clothes, pay mat, swing, bouncer, changing bag, toys were all second hand
I have very mixed feelings about scans. The purpose of them is to find problems. But when all goes well seeing little bean and getting some reassurance is amazing.
Can anyone recommend any books to help tell ds about the baby? We are planning on telling him when I have a proper bump and maybe when we know sex. He's 2

Casablanca78 · 15/08/2015 09:21

Hi Ladies.
Can I join you please? I am 14+6, due 7th Feb 2016. This will be my 2nd child, DD is 7. Suffering horrendously with morning sickness/general all day nausea which is really getting me down. Lasted 7 months with DD so not expecting it to ease anytime soon (although here's hoping!). I also developed GD in final month of pregnancy so I'm sadly resigned to the fact that's likely to come back too (now you understand why the large age gap, pregnancy and me do not agree!)

Had my 12 week scan last week and they were unable to get the Nuchal fold measurement due to baby's position so I'm waiting for results of the quad blood test which I had on weds morning. If I'm high risk I should hear by Monday at the latest. I'll be 38 when baby's born so a bit anxious.

Looking forward to sharing this roller coaster ride with you all!

Casa x

RattyCatty · 15/08/2015 10:01

Welcome casa - hope you begin to feel better. Good luck with results on Monday.

Currently waiting for Chunnel to get moving!

Rufus200 · 15/08/2015 12:33

Had a look at the Mama Mio and going to buy some, so thanks.

I found it cheapest here £21.15 including shipping

If anyone wants I can get you an additional 15% off your 1st order voucher if you PM me your email address, then it sends you an invite with your voucher.

StockingFullOfCoal · 15/08/2015 13:16

Ah, stretchmarks. I use/used Bio Oil. Can get it cheap from Primark now.

My stomach has 3 stretchmarks - in the place where my third baby (youngest DD) used to stick her fist out all the time! Grin

My bewbs, however... Sigh. Lifeless sacks covered in stretchmarks. A result of going from a C to a GG when pregnant/breastfeeding.
