Over I'm really hoping for a positive outcome for you and that you'll find out quickly. Hopefully there is nothing to worry about. Xx

Good luck to those still having scans!

We are in Spain at the moment on the holiday I didn't want to come on. If anything has happened I will never forgive dh as he made me come. My blood sugar was awful the day we arrived as I had a pump set failure and I got a reading of 15 which is the highest it's been since I fell pregnant.
All my pregnancy symptoms are gone, I have no bump and don't even look fat, all my normal clothes still fit. I'm not feeling very hopeful. Oh and my blood sugar has suddenly nosedived despite needing more insulin until now. I'm supposedly 15 weeks but I honestly don't think I will ever get to take this baby home. Surely at 15 weeks I should have a bump??

Mawsymoo · 13/08/2015 08:53

16+3 here Charlotte and still in my normal clothes. It's not long since I had my DS so my tummy is definitely podgy as I have muscle separation but otherwise I would look totally normal. On my DS I had a totally, 100% flat tummy at 15 weeks as I remember I went to a family wedding at that time and wore a normal dress and nobody knew.

It's also 100% normal for pregnancy symptoms to be gone at this stage. I feel a bit in "no-mans land" myself as I'm out of the 1st trimester misery but don't have the bump or the kicking baby yet. I generally feel quite normal. your

Try not to worry and enjoy your holiday.

overreactionemoticon · 13/08/2015 08:57

I've been unable to do up my trousers since 8 weeks Blush
Been in maternity jeans for two weeks now, they're a bit big still but oh so much more comfortable.

I think I do just look fat though!

Thanks for all the good wishes, means a lot to have your support. Am still sore but it's not too bad. Going to make sure I do take it easy though.

Had a bit of a 'discussion' with dp last night because he said if we choose to terminate due to down syndrome or lose this baby then we'll just try again and he'd probably not think about this one again. I was shocked tbh. I already think of this as our baby and will be gutted if it doesn't work out and will always remember it. He said he wants the baby and is excited but he doesn't have any feelings for it yet although he would be disappointed if it didn't work out. Amazing how different his perspective is. I guess that's why he's so black and white about the possibility of terminating whereas for me it's a lot more complicated and is involving a lot of soul searching.

Good luck with the scans today.

overreactionemoticon · 13/08/2015 09:00

Charlotte I had no bump til much later with the first two. The bit between the first trimester and looking/ feeling properly pregnant is an odd one, I think it's common to wonder if it's still there.

clarabellski · 13/08/2015 09:31

Good luck with the scans today harimad and goneswimming.

Flowers overreaction. I think its hard for fathers to connect in the same way, they are 'one step removed' from the process. My DH is similar in that he didn't even want to talk about having a baby until the 12 week scan had passed as he didn't want to invest his emotions too much (I think a lady in his work miscarried around 12 weeks and he was really surprised when it happened, so just assumes miscarriage is much more common than it is).

You might find things change when you start to have movement and get to the 20 week scan. There's definitely someone in there at that point for them to connect to!

Sweetcharlotte try not to worry about symptoms coming and going, just look after yourself. As you'll have read from me and other posters, we don't have bumps yet either. If anything we're all just a bit chubbier but it doesn't look like a baby bump yet.

rallytog1 · 13/08/2015 10:00

Charlotte it's TOTALLY normal not to have a bump at 15 weeks. I know it's easier said than done, but please try to relax and enjoy your holiday - time for just the 2 of you is a very precious thing (as you WILL find out in 25 weeks or so!).

Hi all. Bad news I'm afraid. Started with some bleeding on Monday night so went to the docs. Turns out I had a missed miscarriage - prob from about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Spent all day in hospital sorting it all out and back home now.

I am still in shock I think. Can't quite believe it. Felt pregnant all along but apparently haven't been for nearly a month.

After 2 miscarriages in France they want to carry out tests to see if there is a problem or some reason why this is happening. But we can't afford it. So not really sure what we will do now.

Going to leave the group now, but just wanted to wish you all the best of times I've the coming months and to enjoy every minute of it. I'll be thinking of you all in Feb!!

Jen

jellypi3 · 13/08/2015 10:44

Oh no jen so sorry to hear that. Take care Flowers

Another here just feeling fat. I have a bulge but it's my stomach more that my pelvic area, not sure what part of me should be bulging at this stage. 16w today.

BananaRaces · 13/08/2015 10:56

Jen I am so sorry. Be kind to yourself. Flowers

SmashleyHop · 13/08/2015 11:00

So sorry Jen Sad

I've got a belly now- Mostly food baby but in maternity pants I look pregnant now. So I'm rolling with it.

BananaRaces · 13/08/2015 12:17

Oh ladies, I'm in pieces. I've just had a call from the hospital to say my blood results have come back and the baby is higher risk for Downs syndrome. The odds she's given me are 1 in 31. My DH is rushing back from London right now so that we can go to the hospital later to sort out more tests. I know this doesn't mean that the baby is definitely downs but I can't help being Sad.

RattyCatty · 13/08/2015 12:26

banana sent too quickly but remember that those odds are still 97% in your favour Flowers

BananaRaces · 13/08/2015 13:17

Thanks Ratty, I'm feeling a bit less upset now. It's just hard because I was at a higher risk of miscarriage in the first trimester because of my medical history. I'm 13 weeks, so just into the second trimester and thought I was almost in the clear Sad. Oh well. This pregnancy lark is really bloody difficult!

clarabellski · 13/08/2015 13:30

Thanks Clara.

BigFox, I think they will be talking through the testing with us this afternoon and booking the test. I hope the test itself will be soon, I think the wait will be torture!

The midwife who called me to tell me was so lovely, I felt so sorry for her having to call pregnant ladies and give them difficult news.

banana let us know how this afternoon goes. I hope they can fit you in quickly. Remember the 97% Flowers

overreactionemoticon · 13/08/2015 15:29

Sorry banana Sad It's an awful feeling isn't it?
Glad they are seeing you so quickly, hopefully any tests can be done asap as well. Fingers crossed you are one of the 30. Big hugs to you xxx

BananaRaces · 13/08/2015 17:36

I'm back from the hospital. Unfortunately, because I am too far along I can't do the CVS test. They are going to do a diagnostic test called Amniocentesis instead which will tell us for sure one way or the other. BUT they can't do the test until I am at least 15 weeks pregnant. I'm only 13+4 at the moment so it's going to be a couple of weeks wait. They're going to call me on Monday with the appointment for it. So we've just got to wait and cross everything.

jellypi3 · 13/08/2015 17:44

Are you too far along for the harmony test banana?

BananaRaces · 13/08/2015 17:48

They suggested the NIFTY test, which I think is the same as Harmony but as it's 99% accurate rather than 100% we've decided not to go for it. If we got a result which said the baby had Downs we would have a very tough decision to make and the idea of that 1% chance of inaccuracy would make everything so much more difficult.

Thanks for all the support ladies, it really means a lot. Xx

NoMontagues · 13/08/2015 18:48

banana I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. That sucks that you have to wait two weeks to get the amnio.

But as others have pointed out, the odds are still very much in your favour.

Rufus200 · 13/08/2015 18:56

banana sorry you are going through this. If you did have the harmony or panorama or nifty and it came out positive for Down syndrome you would still need to have the amniocentesis anyway as the tests can have false positives. There is a lady in the USA who was told her child had Edwards syndrome based on Harmony results, which has a very short life span and was going to terminate but had amniocentesis and there was nothing wrong with her baby and she now has a healthy toddler. I'm sorry you have to wait to find out.
