rhi if you're comfy go for it! Like the pattern!

womb huge congrats!

rufus how are you now? Can you take an antihistamine? If unsure can you call the non emergency NHS number? And amso hide the TV remote before the next football match?!

BananaRaces · 08/08/2015 22:56

Oh no Rufus, that must be very scary. I hope he pulls his finger out soon. Does he not know he is tempting the pregnancy rage?!

I've discovered today that I have thrush (the joys), which I haven't had for well over a decade. NHS website said not to use any thrush treatments while pregnant without first speaking to your GP. Called out of hours GP, who prescribed a pessary and cream. But I was so scared using the pessary that I was going to hurt the baby somehow. It's so difficult when you're like "what if my illness hurts the baby?! But what if the treatment hurts the baby?!!"

Gah! Pregnancy is such a headfuck at times! Confused

BananaRaces · 08/08/2015 23:02

Also, give 111 a call. Get some medical advice. I hope it starts to feel a bit better soon. Thanks

Rufus200 · 08/08/2015 23:07

I've used vinegar and anthisan on the sting, got an ice pack on my foot and taken a benadryl. My fav cat came and sat with me while I cried. DH ignored me, we have now had a screaming row, he is sat sulking and the stupid football is still on. I'm eating chocolate and giving him death stares from the other end of the sofa! I'll only call the NHS if I feel I'm having a proper allergic reaction, going to stay up for a hour to make sure. The sodding TV channel will be changing!!!

NoMontagues · 09/08/2015 00:05

womb yay!! Congratulations and welcome to team blue! Smile Smile

rhi that looks great. Just make sure you have room to eat a meal and sit for a spell afterwards. That's what always does me in at weddings, pregnant or not! Grin

rufus you poor thing. Hope you're feeling better now?

banana I had thrush on and off during my last pregnancy and for some reason I didn't want to use the pessary or even the cream so I dicked about with natural yoghurt for months until the midwife told me to cop on to myself and that the treatments aren't harmful (except the oral medication, you can't take that) but that having thrush when the baby is born can be. The baby can be infected during delivery. So I did the pessary after that and of course it cleared up straight away. If it comes back this time I'm going to deal with it straight away. Oh- and also cut down on sugar intake if you can, as that makes thrush worse.

Rufus200 · 09/08/2015 00:07

Feeling much better, going to bed. It was just a really nasty shock and I was so scared I was going to have to use the epipen. Apparently when I 1st screamed it was the cat that ran upstairs before DH and it was the cat that gave me far more comfort, he is my little guardian angel. Love him so much!

NoMontagues · 09/08/2015 00:24

Glad you're feeling better. I would have felt the same re the epi pen.

Well done rufuskitty - surely this means he's earned his first aid badge? Bless him.

Thank goodness you were OK in the end Rufus. Your cat sounds lovely. Smile

Rufus hope you are feeling better this morning. I had to laugh at the image of you furiously posting on MN waiting for a response from DH - it is exactly what I would have done - or phoned my sister and ranted at her that he wasn't taking it seriously.

At least you have kittyrufus and chocolate to sort you out and have told him what for! I blame football - I died inside when the league started up again yesterday cause that is my DHs attention span gone for the foreseeable future...

Rufus200 · 09/08/2015 14:37

mayo congrats
Thank you all ladies. Kittyrufus slept curled up next to my tummy all night. I loves him so much, my little guardian angel. I can't wear shoes as my foot is so itchy and they rub. I have a very swollen face today and very puffy eyelids so definitely having an allergic reaction. I used my Doppler and heard baby's HB this am so know he is ok. I'm still cross with DH for not taking my worries more seriously! Every time you get stung you have a higher chance of having an anaphylactic reaction next time.

Great scan picture Mayo Smile

Rufus200 · 09/08/2015 17:07

mayo I called 111 and they very helpfully told me I couldn't take any medication and needed to see my GP! Really itchy eyes, so going to have another Benadryl tonight. I do wish that the medical profession wasn't quite so cautious with pregnant women! More important to baby to not be having allergy symptoms then the risk of a short term medication which is being taken in 2nd trimester?

Are we in the 2nd trimester once past 14 weeks?

goneswimming · 09/08/2015 17:36

Does anyone have any wisdom to share on maternity swimming costumes? My cossies don't fit especially round the chest, and I need something to wear that will let me keep exercising properly. I bought a zoggs tankini and if I do anything more than head-up breaststroke slowly, the top slides down under the water drag! Torn between a speedo maternity which is ugly but probably functions quite well, or a Jojo maman bebe tankini which is cute and would be great for our holiday, but I don't know how well it works for actual swimming! Any thoughts?

NoMontagues · 09/08/2015 19:55

rufus yep, we're in the second trimester from the end of 13 weeks, or some people say 13 and a half weeks.

gone I saw a nice one on the Seraphine website but it's definitely more fashion-y than sporty.

Oh - I've just looked again and seen this - it might suit?

NoMontagues · 09/08/2015 19:59

The one I first liked was this one

peggysue82 · 09/08/2015 20:41

Hi all. Had 12 week scan on weds and all is looking well. Little bean in there wriggling around. Have moved my dates forward to 13th Feb so am now 13+1. I would add my scan pic but not sure how to do it?? Is it possible on the app??

goneswimming · 09/08/2015 21:25

Thanks both- they both look possible! I wondered about this onewww.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+navy-white-stripe-maternity-tankini-in-maternity-swimwear+b4833 (don't know how to do that clever link thing!) because it would do for holiday too?
