rufus you sound like you need some movicol/laxido - you'll need a prescription from your GP. If you're struggling over the weekend 111 should be able to sort you out. Smile

haquoi123 · 01/08/2015 14:21

stocking I'm so sorry to hear your dss is going through such a difficult situation. Your chill out day sounds good though.

I could have sworn I felt the baby move yesterday. Just a couple of little punches on my left side. Just looked it up and it is possible... I felt ds from 15 weeks but after he died I had so much phantom kicking that I thought I'd made the early movement up. Anyone else felt anything?

Ratty I'm the same. My symptoms have eased and I feel quite good - so as a result I'm worrying. Got 6 weeks to go until 20 week scan although I'm having a cervix scan on Monday so will see little one then.

I had a shocker of a night - DP was out drinking. Texted me to say he was on way home at 11.15 - so with getting a cab back I thought he'll be home 11.45 / midnight

Woke up at 4am in an empty bed!!!!! Scared me half to death. No text or nothing saying he was staying out. So I rang him basically saying "where the fuck are you?"

He was still in some shitty club in Birmingham so he was told to get in a cab pronto.

4.45 rang him again, he was only just leaving Birmingham in a cab .

Comes crashing into house at 5.15 am and it was getting light Angry

After that I couldn't sleep then he forgot his sodding alarm hadn't been turned off. 6am.... FFS I was ready to kill him!!!

I don't care he stayed out, not at all. But I'm cross that after saying he was on his way home at 11.15 he hadn't appeared with no word at 4am!

He's now dying on the sofa and we've got a close friends 50th birthday dinner tonight. I've told him he's sucking it up and he will drink tonight and celebrate with our lovely friend as I can't drink!!

NoMontagues · 01/08/2015 14:30

haq I thought I might have, about the night before last. I'm 14+3 so it's possible-ish.

Just a fleeting drumming sensation. I've actually been on hyper-alert ever since.

eggsnbeans · 01/08/2015 15:07

I bought a Doppler last pg, was quite reassuring as placenta was anterior so didn't feel much movement before25w. have tried it a couple of times lately and still can't find it, but not going to panic yet! It is lovely to hear that sound though.

Rufus have you asked your mW for something to help?

Rufus200 · 01/08/2015 15:27

I don't have a MW and I don't feel I can bother my private obstetrician on her emergency mobile on a weekend for constipation. I need to get my panorama results on Monday anyway and if it has failed again talk about what to do from there so will get help then. I've had another dose of lactulose at lunch. I can't even try to go as there is just nothing there, it is all high up. My BF told me she went 10days without going during her pregnancy and was at the point of demanding the hospital physically intervened when the drugs finally worked.

Had a nap this afternoon but had the most horrible dream that I had a wee and passed baby without noticing, then walked around carrying it. Was really upsetting, stupid hormonal dreams! Realised I won't be having another scan for a long time now, wish that the hand held ultrasound machines were reasonably priced as I would scan myself all the time (£4k). Also wish the scanner in Extant existed where they just held an iPad up to your body and could see straight inside you!

Littleoakhorn · 01/08/2015 15:35

Isn't there a risk of detecting the placenta's blood flow instead of the baby's heartbeat if you're not trained to use a doppler? I have a vague memory of being told not to use one because it offers a false sense of security. Hmm

I've had a rough few nights as dd has been ill. Less sleep always = more nausea for me. Plus, my parents are staying for the weekend and my dad honestly does. not. stop. talking.

rallytog1 · 01/08/2015 15:48

haquoi definitely possible. I'm feeling the same at 14+3. It feels like someone is tickling me from the inside.

A word of caution on dopplers - the presence of a heartbeat is not a sure sign of a healthy baby. Unless you're trained to monitor a baseline heartbeat over time including accelerations and decelerations, you can't take a hb as a sign of fetal wellbeing. Plus after being sent for an emergency scan at 16 weeks last time after the mw couldn't find my baby's heartbeat, I really think they're a recipe for misinformation and stress.

monkerina · 01/08/2015 15:55

The placental supply sounds different to the baby's hb- the placenta flow is whooshing, and slower than the baby's faster, more staccato hb. My own hb is slower again Smile

Carltonlives · 01/08/2015 16:08

Afternoon everyone!

rufus def get the constipation sorted ASAP, speak to your guy or a doc and get something stronger. You don't want it to get really bad. Hope you are feeling better soon

brummie that sounds awful! I would have a heart attack if I woke and dh wasn't there!

I think a Doppler would cause more worry than reassurance for me, I know some people really like them though.

littleoak my dd is ill with a cold at the moment too, luckily my nausea and tiredness is much better this week otherwise I don't know how I would have coped with her up all night too! Hope she feels better soon

I got my downs risk back today, I was actually really shocked and worried when I saw the envelope through my door because they said they would contact me in a few days if high risk and a few weeks if low risk and I only had my scan on Wednesday, but it said my risk is 1 in 49,000 so I'm happy with that Smile

Hope everyone else is good, any more scans coming up or are they all next week now?

Here is mine on Monday, they dated me at 12+4.
Baby was lying upside down and barely moved which worried me a bit, she just measured the baby but didn't do heartbeat or anything. Nuchal measurement was 1.8

I suspect it is another boy - all boys on dh's side and yet I can't shake the feeling it's a girl! Ds is thrilled so I hope it doesn't all go wrong now. He thinks it is a girl and I keep having to say "or a brother!" every time he says he's having a sister.

Sal1977 · 01/08/2015 19:35

Greetings ladybugs!
I would have properly bollocked DH if he'd done that to me Brummie! Like you say, I don't care that you're out til 5am, just warn me!! I would have been thinking he's dead in a ditch or something!

Went to the antenatal clinic on Wednesday to discuss meds and was totally expecting them to say stop taking the Clexane and Aspirin now we've had a good 12 week scan. No. I've got to take it up to 36 weeks. Bit of a bummer but in a way I was worrying a bit about stopping it in case something bad happened!
Brummie, do you have to keep taking it until that sort of time?
The upside is that I'll get an extra 2 scans at 28 and 34 weeks. If I refrain from any more private scans that'll be 10 by the time I (hopefully) get to full term! Lol.

Can anyone else 'feel' their uterus? It doesn't hurt or feel uncomfortable or anything but I can just feel that there's something new there. Like someone has plopped a small rock into my pelvic area! I can't wait to get a bump. It's pure chubby checker at the moment. Rubbish.
I asked my acupuncture lady who is also a midwife if she could feel if it has risen out of my pelvis yet and to my surprise she said it's halfway between there and my belly button. She showed me what to feel for but sadly it was a bit of a 'Rachel from friends' moment where after the 3rd attempt of her showing me and me feeling jack shit, I just went "oh wow! Amazing". What a tit!

fififolle · 01/08/2015 20:08

Brummie what a nightmare! I would have panicked too. I bet you had a little smile to yourself when DH was feeling as rough as a bear's bottom! How did it go coming off the Cyclogest? I've only got a few left so will be finishing it in the week coming. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow.

rally I had the same doppler experience at 16 weeks. All they could hear was my placenta. I'm 12+5,so if it was baby I could feel it was ridiculously early!

sal when I have a full bladder and lie on my back I have a bump underneath my belly button that's obvious to the touch. It doesn't feel hard, but more like someone has shoved a water balloon under my skin. It's lovely to feel it though.

brummie I'm right with you on that, I'd have been furious as well.

My dating scan is on Monday! I may just sleep until then, massively overdid it on Thursday and Friday and can't keep my eyes open...

Littleoakhorn · 01/08/2015 21:05

Oh wow Monk that's really cool!

Carlton, I hope your lo gets better soon too. We've got enough sleep deprivation coming our way in about six months. I'm trying to stock up now!

birdbrain21 · 01/08/2015 23:01

Love all the scan pictures, I've had a date through for my 20 week scan! Can't wait to see baby again.

littleoak I thought that about stocking up on sleep last time but when dd was born and I was up every few hours feeding it was hard as I was exhausted but not as hard as when she'd started sleeping through and would then have a bad night as your body adjusts to lack of sleep if that makes sense.

RattyCatty · 01/08/2015 23:12

Lovely pic charlotte When are you going on hol?

brummie glad I'm not the only one. Sometimes I just want to turn a worry button off in my brain! I feel like I'm silly for not enjoying the pregnancy as much as I should as I'm so happy to be pregnant I just didn't realise (naively) that so many things can go wrong. Just got to try to do mini countdowns I guess and focus on positives. Next one is 20 week scan which for me isn't until week 21 on 24th sept. That will fly by, right? Also brummie I'd have gone bonkers if DH did that with worry! (Obviously.. See above personality type!!)

stocking hope you feel better by the morning.

Happytimes2 · 02/08/2015 01:26

Just wanted to check in and let u know I had an amazing scan. All is looking good and I'm 13 weeks. I'm sure it wasn't that clear 2 years ago with ds! I'm so excited to tell ds but we are waiting till I have a bump which may (hopeful y) b around 20w scan so we will b able to tell him if he's getting a sister or brother and of course a few more hurdles will b crossed by then
I keep thinking can feel movement but think it will b everything stretching or baby hiccups or I'd that ti early? I didn't feel anything till quite late last time I thought when I saw the movement at 20w scan I'd feel it but didn't for a few weeks after!

fififolle · 02/08/2015 08:30

Great news Happy!

ATrueNerd · 02/08/2015 09:28

Great news happy

brummie exactly what my dh does fairly regularly, very annoying, worse when he can't find his key! Find My IPhone is handy for tracking them down in those situations!

sal I think mine is quite high up and I fed feel like I've got a rock in there! Feel like I'm 8 months when I'm walking sometimes!

I love my doppler, found heart beat at 9 weeks after trying on and off since 7, the reassurance outweighs any risk of worry for me, I know baby can move and hide so I only let myself try for a few mins then if I can't find it I try again later or the next day, but from 10ish weeks I've found it quite easily every time. There is no way I'm going to risk turning up at my 12 week scan and being told the baby has died again, it was either going to be a doppler or weekly private scans and at £30 doppler wins! I know it doesn't mean the baby is 100% healthy just cos it has a heartbeat but for me the peace of mind of knowing it's still there is invaluable.

ATrueNerd · 02/08/2015 09:34

And there is no mistaking your own heartbeat for the babies in my opinion, I do hear my pulse but 1, it is louder and in lots of different places and 2, it is the same speed as my pulse elsewhere in my body, the baby's is more than twice as fast. Now at 11 weeks I can hear the sloshing about of the waters as baby moves Smile I'm lucky enough that my midwife is a friend so I recorded the heartbeat and sent it to her to check too but there really is no mistaking it x

Spanoo · 02/08/2015 11:04

Congratulations happy and charlotte!!! So exciting!

No idea about feeling my uterus! I don't think I look any different except for all the extra carb-podge I've gained.

brummie I know what that's like! It's soooooooo aggravating! My DP hasn't done it for a while but the whole "I'm leaving now" then not showing up for another 4 hours, has caused major arguments in the past.

My scan is on Tuesday and I can't wait! I just want to know how things are going in there!

jellypi3 · 02/08/2015 11:59

Question for those of you buying everything for this baby, when are you going to start shopping? We were thinking of waiting until 24 weeks for the big things like cot and pram etc
