StockingFullOfCoal · 16/07/2015 17:31

boobear I feel your pain! My 8 year old washer and my 7 year old dryer are on the way out and my cooker has fucking cracked all over the hob Angry the cooker is my 5th second hand one in 4 years, all kindly donated but ffs, they never last long. Last year we went 5 months with no oven and hob.

That's interesting re Wythenshawe primary I opted for Stepping Hill because it's where my fertility treatment was and that's worked well, but I think DP would prefer Wythenshawe with it being newer and shinier. I said we could have a look at Wythenshawe but really like SH so I expect we'll be staying there.

Sorry they didn't do much to put your mind at rest, I hope the hospital at your new place are better for you Flowers

primarynoodle · 16/07/2015 18:11

well after the wythenshawe booking in ap. at 8w me and dp booked in for a private scan to put my mind at rest so i stopped being a crazy bitch and beans was fine so i feel much better now! I have heard good things about stepping hill though tbf but we live too far away..

i think it really just shocked me how different the procedure for booking in appointments are and how they impact on you as a pregnant woman with hormones and nerves!

Stepawayfromthezebras · 16/07/2015 18:16

Yeah, just from reading this thread it's surprising how different everyone's experiences are.

Skinny jeans arrived today: Newlook were more like jegging fabric with ASOS the most jean-like. They're all really comfy!

Hi primarynoodle,

Hope you don't mind me asking. but with your private scan, did you just find a place and call up? I'm stressing and would like a scan especially as I still haven't got a scan date yet and my first midwife appointment isn't for another 2 weeks.

I found a place that have prices starting from £95, the place is connected with my Drs, but they told my husband we still needed a drs referral.

I'm 11 weeks now (I think). and just want to know if things are ok. and is it movement I can feel or something else. lol

monkerina · 16/07/2015 19:22

JNF8, I had a private scan last week- just rang them up and booked, didn't need a referral, they were quite happy to take my £70! Smile

I think prices vary quite a lot, and there are often deals on Groupon etc (although, sods law, none in my area now I want one Angry) so might be worth a shop around, especially if you've found that place challenging?

primarynoodle · 16/07/2015 19:26

jnf8 i just rang up too mine was £50. If you google "baby scan in (your area)" places will come up.

i dont know whether you will be going for a nuchal scan or just a 'reassurance' scan but i can imagine that would make a difference to the price but baby scan places are everywhere!

IslaMann · 16/07/2015 19:30

JNF8 I just googled "private antenatal scans Bristol", they didnt need a GP referral, just checked that I was over 8 weeks. Ours cost £75 and included 3 scan pics. (12 week NHS scan is in 2 weeks, and they charge £4 per pic!)

JNF8 · 16/07/2015 19:31

Thanks monkerina and primarynoodle

I looked on woucher, they had a scan, but like you said monkerina, wrong area. lol

Will go and have a search on google.

rdr15 · 16/07/2015 19:47

Has anyone got any experience with one to one midwifes or decided to go with them?
Also how do I add myself to the stats anyone know?

JNF8 · 16/07/2015 19:56

Thanks IslaMann

Think I'm going to get one done just to put my mind at rest. Don't know why I feel so anxious this time round.

Brummiegirl15 · 16/07/2015 20:00

I just cried down the phone to my Mum. The midwife really frightened me with the Downs risk and after everything we've been through, it just really overwhelmed me.

I'm so frightened. We've been through so much and the thought of more heartbreak is more than I can bear Sad

Boobear1983 · 16/07/2015 20:05

Hugs brummie

primarynoodle · 16/07/2015 20:07

brummie Thanks you are so strong, i hope everything will be fine for you and im sure it will, high risk is still quite a low risk overall in reality xxxx

NoMontagues · 16/07/2015 20:13

Oh brummie Flowers

There is an increased risk at our age, yes. But as primary says, it's increasing a very small risk to a slightly greater but still very small risk.

Only a few days till Monday.

StockingFullOfCoal · 16/07/2015 20:19

brummie Flowers Try not to fret love. Easier said than done with the hormones and past experiences, I know. Today you are pregnant. Today you have a healthy baby. Have a good snotty cry, followed by a cuppa and a bath.

MayFlowers16 · 16/07/2015 20:22

Brummie I think your midwife was a little cruel tbh. You are the same age as me and nobody has mentioned this. Yes, our risk is higher but it's still low. Thanks

Raaaaaah · 16/07/2015 20:46

Brummie. I was curious so looked at your age. You're only 38! I then did a search on mumsnet for nuchal results for mums over 35yrs. I think you should take a look' it's reassuring. Most of our friends started having babies in late 30's early 40's. All are healthy children with no additional needs. I'm saying this to reassure myself too Smile.

Pogmella · 16/07/2015 20:52

Brummie my friend had her 1st at 38- now a mum to 2 under 2! X

GiraffesAndButterflies · 16/07/2015 21:05

Flowers Brummie. What MayFlower said. It is still a low risk and the odds are on your side. And we've all got fx for you.

I'm so glad you're all talking about maternity clothes. With DD1 I didn't show for ages and this time around I feel huge for 10 weeks. Work are going to guess before I can tell them! Plus being massively bloated doesn't help either. So relieved other people are farting like mad as well

Tight clothes are making my nausea much worse though so I'm going to have to do some shopping Confused

fififolle · 16/07/2015 21:05

Brummie you are pregnant and nurturing your beautiful baby. Don't let insensitive comments get you down. You are an amazingly strong lady. Xx
