stocking I'm with you on the badly needing exercise front. I've been hibernating (to use my Mum's description) whenever I'm not teaching and my body is feeling the station of lying down too much. There are also no pregnancy yoga groups where I live and my yoga class is too strenuous - it does all the postures they say to avoid in pg. And I stopped going when the ms hit... Any recommendations of good online pg yoga vids?

alrey88 · 15/07/2015 11:59

Hi ladies am due Feb the first have scan in a week I had a home birth last time and am aiming on the same this time I'm not a fan of hospitals so home is defo a better environment for me.
It's been 6 yrs since my daughter was born so a little rusty on pregnancy and birth!

Stepawayfromthezebras · 15/07/2015 12:01

Eek nomontagues that's very exciting news Smile

haquoi123 · 15/07/2015 12:01

Congrats montagues!
Hi alrey [waves]

Brummiegirl15 · 15/07/2015 12:06

Yay No that's wonderful news!!!!!

Boobear1983 · 15/07/2015 12:08

haquoi what anout swimming? I was training for a half marathon when i found out i was pg. Dh is now doing it in my place. I've all but given up on running as i find it quite uncomfy but I've been swimming 3 times a week which i find really good, i can just go potter up and down for a bit if I'm tired. I also have the daily yoga app on my phone. I used it before i was pg but it has a good maternity yoga program, based on the three trimesters. I get restless legs (even before i was pg) so i find it useful to do in the evening.

Rufus200 · 15/07/2015 12:10

Montague congrats you are the 1st member of team blue

Is it okay to have team blue, pink or yellow or are people against gender/colour assignment?

I have on the only pair of jeans that now fit me which I bought in a size up and are stretchy from Zara in anticipation of weight gain (I was weighed yesterday and have put on a stone at 10wks! [Rufus hangs her head in shame]) I always have had a big bottom but I am now literally rivalling Kim Kardashian!!! It is ginormous!!!

clarabellski · 15/07/2015 12:15

That's great news on your scan montague

It's amazing what modern science can do!

I'm not going to bother finding out the gender as hoping the surprise will keep me going through the next 7 long, fat, varicose vein riddled months

Welcome to the February thread Alrey! We keep a stats sheet if you want to fill any of it in (obviously you don't have to, its just helps us remember who's who!). The link is here:

Littleoakhorn · 15/07/2015 12:17

montague congratulations! How lovely to already know.

Clumsy I'm so sorry to hear that. What's the marker they are looking for? (Unless you don't want to talk about it, obvs).

primarynoodle · 15/07/2015 12:19

montague and other successful 12w scanners congrats!!

not sure what a marker is clumsy but guessing it means theres a higher chance of baby having downs? fx for the best outcome for you and hoping youve got lots of real life support too!!Thanks either way you have a sticky bean and for that congratulations Grin

CalypsoLilt · 15/07/2015 12:21

Jealous of anyone doing exercise; if I stand for too long I feel faint and if I did a down dog I would definitely puke :(

99.9% sure I don't want to know the gender of the baby.

Welcome Alrey Brew

primarynoodle · 15/07/2015 12:21

rufus i am against gender constricting my own child but for the purposes of the group of course we should have team blue pink and yellow!! How would we ever differentiate otherwise? Wink

i cant wait to find out which team baby will be playing for... the suspense is killing me i dont know how people can wait!

haquoi123 · 15/07/2015 12:24

boobear I'm considering swimming but my midwife put me off swimming in 1st trimester with DS - something stupid about never being able to forgive myself. I thought she was an idiot and furious that she'd scaremonger like that but it did the damage. DH goes though so I might start to join him. I'll also check out the app, thanks!

rufus I dislike the gender colours personally but don't mind other people subscribing to it. Each to their own :) I'm going to be in the yellow camp whether I find out or not :)

StockingFullOfCoal · 15/07/2015 12:30

Yellow here. We won't be finding out. Have only asked with 1 out of my 3 and thats due to her being prem, unisex clothes to fit a 4lb baby just don't exist. Fortunately she stayed in longer than Consultant predicted she would.

H&M have some adorable grey and green clothes in at the moment!

My youngest DD starts full time school in September and so I'll be getting a gym membership so I can swim a few days a week. Unfortunately its a bus ride away as I don't drive so can't imagine I'll be able to afford it more than twice a week.

fififolle · 15/07/2015 12:30

Brummie Flowers so happy for you. There is no way that you're making people feel awkward. You are an amazing lady.

clarabellski · 15/07/2015 12:32

Haquoi, if it helps, mymidwife and my personal trainer both strongly advocate swimming as the water helps keeps your temperature down (apparently temperature regulation is important in the first 12 weeks). You may of course have an underlying health condition that led your midwife to advise you as she did, but if you are (so far as you know) generally healthy, then swimming is fine!

I'm a rower and I've not been in a boat or on an erg for 5 weeks, it's torture and I've lost 6 pounds (muscle softening into fat Sad). Swimming and walking is keeping me sane until I feel up to getting back in the boat (going for a paddle this evening, eek, but will be a gentle one as I'm taking beginners out).

haquoi123 · 15/07/2015 12:35

That really helps, thanks clara. No underlying condition - she was just annoying. I've asked for a different midwife this time.

Pogmella · 15/07/2015 12:36

Big up team yellow. We can be the mustard maidens... Or something that sounds less smelly Smile

Beloved85 · 15/07/2015 12:40

Oh wow! Congrats RattyCatty! Can't wait to have my next scan done on Friday morning.

NoMontagues that's wonderful! I doubt i'll want to wait till the end. In my early days I had a feeling i was going to have a girl, but recently that's changed to feeling i'll have a boy. Lol! I am too curious to wait a whole 6.5 months to find out. Grin

Calypso i'm with you on that exercise thing. I feel like i can't do anything. By the time i get home i'm too exhausted to even lift an arm. I intend to start swimming after the first trim (Hoping I feel better then).

Brummiegirl15 · 15/07/2015 12:41

I'm team yellow too! Not going to be finding out. I love the idea of finding out when little one is born.

I would probably find out if I already had a dc so I could say ooh your new brother / sister.

But resigned ourselves to probably only having the 1 so full on surprise for us!!

jellypi3 · 15/07/2015 12:44

yay no great news :) and fingers crossed clumsy

ok i think past this post no more bickering...................

cool, now where were we - lard is piling on here. I have no bump to speak of but a good wodge of fat growing in my mid, oh well.

and i am finding out the colour, but on my other AN thread we use the term filly or willy Grin

StockingFullOfCoal · 15/07/2015 12:46

I spent the day at Wheelgate chaperoning a Nursery trip yesterday. So today I am doing naff all. I'm on the sofa with DD4 watching Mister Maker enjoying the last of our afternoons together Sad On Saturday I'm dressing up as Belle and hosting DD7s birthday party. 10 girls. Several Princess themed games. Single handedly. I have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea Grin

NoMontagues · 15/07/2015 12:51

Wow thanks everyone.

Modern science is indeed amazing. Y chromosome detected even at this early stage.

clumsy I'm sorry, I missed your post too. I hope I haven't been insensitive.

clumsypots · 15/07/2015 12:52

Thanks everyone. The marker is for antiphosphalipids syndrome which causes high risk of mc and early labour and can cause problems with high blood pressure as well as blood clots etc. I made the mistake of going to the appointment on my own coz I thought it was just a routine booking in appointment but I am about to go and tell my mom about the pregnancy for a bit of support. The Drs are looking after me well, got so many appointments it's untrue but at least they will be keeping an eye on me and bean.
