For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Alittle, no experience, but I think they check your glucose level when they dip your wee sample, and that would be an indication. If they did this on Monday, then they would have said something if there was a problem.

mrsscarlettbutler · 18/06/2015 13:46

Alittlebit at my hospital they do a test at 28 weeks for GD. I haven't done it yet but I believe it involves drinking lucozade and having bloods taken... I don't think they check before then though where I am.

Abbey so sorry it's all so stressful for you. I think it's great that you are getting so much info about your choices and success rates etc. Good that you are seeing a consultant, hopefully they will help you make sense of everything.

I'm really aching today - all across my lower torso. I can't tell if the pain is coming from my hips or somewhere else. It feels a bit like period pain, which is freaking me out a bit (keep rushing to the loo to check for blood). But both hips are definitley sore as well, and really tender to touch all over. Just not really sure what to do - have had sore hips all week really, but just seems to be getting worse today. It feels a bit like it could be spreading down my thighs as well. Am so uncomfortable at my desk! Supposed to be going to an event tonight for work but think I'm going to have to bail out. (quite relieved about that actually!!)

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 18/06/2015 18:53

My hospital has the same test at 28 weeks. My last pregnancy, only women with a raised bmi had it but at this hospital, everyone does.

cryingbabymess · 18/06/2015 19:14

Place marking again as I've been very quiet on here! Will try catch up.

BowiesJumper · 18/06/2015 19:24

Yes everyone has to do the glucose test at 28wks in my area too.

Sorry to hear that mrsscarlett maybe you need to try one of those attractive support belt things??

I've got my scan in the morning. Terrified!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 18/06/2015 20:19

All the best for tomorrow Bowies

In my area they only do the glucose test if you're high risk or had GD before. This thread always makes me realise how varied maternity care is, I always assumed there'd be a national way of doing things

stickytoffeegirl · 18/06/2015 20:56

Had my 20 week scan this morning, amazing! Everything looked normal and baby was snuggled face down towards my back. I'm sure I've been feeling movement lately but it comes and goes so very relieved to see a strong heartbeat and wriggly baby!

Team yellow here Smile

Gr33dyeggs · 18/06/2015 21:11

Lovely scan news Stickytoffeegirl Welcome to team yellow Smile

SnozzberryPie · 18/06/2015 21:23

Oh I didn't think about electives abbey. How annoying that you can't get the information you need.

Alittle in my area you get a lucozade test as standard at 28 weeks. I think higher risk women may be tested sooner. Your symptoms sound like normal pregnancy to me but do get it checked if you feel that something isn't right.

Good luck with the scan Bowies and great news on yours sticky.

BlueBananas · 18/06/2015 21:31

Hello!
I was on this thread at the beginning then after a few problems and bleeding I fell off it a bit because I didn't know what was happening (though I've still dipped in & out reading)
So, Ive stopped bleeding, everything has been fine, I've had lots of tests & scans and all is healthy - so I'm back! Grin hi!

Had our 20 week scan today, baby was a bugger doing somersaults and generally residing upside down with hands over face! So I went for 2 seperate walks to get it to move into a decent position, we were in there for 2 hours!
Anyway all is fine and we are team blue!

Loulabellle123 · 18/06/2015 21:42

Great scan news from everyone. I've got to have the gtt due to a family history of diabetes but I'm hoping it's not too bad.

tootsroots · 18/06/2015 21:50

Oh bluebananas how wonderful is your news! So pleased after all your early upsets - Smile so happy for
Your boy!

Welcome back !!!

Mrsscarlett I wear a support belt when I walk anywhere ( like to tube station and take it off when I get to work) and a body tubie grip as much as I can but now I am
Growing its sooo pressuring and hot- but the belt gives your pelvis a little support and the tube gives core support. Went swimming for 15 mins last night for the first time in months(years) and that helped my
Cocyxx pain so much!

Hope yours eases!

Good luck Friday scanners!

Great scan news everyone Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 18/06/2015 22:07

Alittlebit - when they dip your urine sample at each midwife appointment it would show if there was glucose in your urine (a sign of gd) so they could investigate further. Another sign can be a bump that is much larger than expected for your dates (though they prob aren't measuring you yet, they will).

Frescoed · 18/06/2015 22:09

Lovely scan news stickytoffee and blue, great to hear everything has settled down for you blue. Good luck for anyone scheduled for tomorrow.

Dixiebell · 18/06/2015 22:32

Feels like more Blues than Pinks so far doesn't it? 2.5 more weeks until my scan still, but two weeks off work now so can hopefully enjoy the time.

BlueBananas · 18/06/2015 23:54

Thankyou! It feels good to be back Grin
How many of each sex have we got so far then? Is anyone keeping a tally?

Polarbearcub · 19/06/2015 05:50

Hope I'm not too late to join in! I've been lurking here and on the Oct bus as my due date is the very end of the month but as it's it's my first I'm expecting to run late ...

Had 20 week scan on Friday. All was well and little boy was in there kicking up a storm Smile

rebbles · 19/06/2015 07:24

Got my 20 week scan tonight! I also have to have gtt as my grandad has diabetes but I think I am going to cancel it as really don't want the test I hate blood tests and have been working myself up about it! Midwife said I don't need to have it.

Amyyy27 · 19/06/2015 07:34

Congrats on all the lovely scan news!

rebbles good luck for yours!

cryingbabymess · 19/06/2015 07:41

Worst dream ever last night! ConfusedShock

It doesn't make sense, I know it was only a dream but I'm now paranoid....! Hmm

So OH and I were in bed but for some reason there was a train track right behind us...?! I was half asleep then he jumped up and onto the train track and picked up this comforter. I was like who's is that and he was like oh, it's XX's (not sure of the name he used!) but then she seemed to be not in the bed next to ours but one after that! Confused he thought I'd fallen asleep at this point then he went down to give her this comforter and jumped into bed with HER!!! ShockShockShock

I then vividly remember him looking over at me to make sure I was "sleeping" then they were all over each other!!! ShockAngryBlushSad

I don't like it! It makes me worried and paranoid! Sad

mrsscarlettbutler · 19/06/2015 09:59

ohh lots of lovely scan news Smile Blue so pleased all is ok for you now - I also had loads of bleeding in the first few months, was so scary. Did they find out what caused yours? I never got an answer. And we also had a unco-operative baby with hands over its face in the scan - were also there for over 2 hours! Was impressed with how patient the hospital were actually, at one point I thought they were just going to send us away and tell us to come back another day. Instead, the sonographer gave us a (pretty freaky) 3D photo for our patience! Unfortunately baby wasnt keen on a photo shoot and kept moving so picture is half placenta, half face...

Toots and Bowies yes I think I'm going to have to get one of those belts. Any recommendations? I've been looking at one from JoJo Maman Bebe which I've seen recommended by a few people. Was going to send DH off to get it later.

flyingsprocket · 19/06/2015 10:23

Lovely scan news ladies! Good to have you back blue and hello to polar

Are the support belts just for pelvic pain? Does anybody have a link please? I had horrid ligament pain the other day while playing golf but it was a bit higher up, I had to quit my game and was practically in tears. It hasn't come back since so I can safely assume swinging a golf club aggravates it. Im going to take a break from it for a couple of weeks and try again. I'd be really gutted to have to give it up completely.

Starspread · 19/06/2015 10:56

Joining in a bit late to the party, but we had our 20 week scan yesterday - I was amazed by how much you could see! Had no idea you'd be able to see the skeleton so clearly; absolutely fascinating! Wriggly kicky fidgety baby wouldn't stay still, and apparently all measurements look absolutely spot-on for our due date at the beginning of November... new to Mumsnet but I expect I'll be posting more in the coming months.

And (see 'new to Mumsnet') I believe this makes me... Team Yellow? :)
