November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

I must admit, I do pelvic floor exercises every day. It could all be luck, but I did them last time and had a really fast pushing stage, no stitches and pelvic floor was back to full strength within a few days. Like I said, it could all be luck (it is definitely at least mostly luck!), but I figure there's no harm in doing them again! Also, with two babies bouncing up and down on my bladder, I think my pelvic floor will be more than tested this pregnancy, irrespective of how the birth goes...

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 30/05/2015 21:58

Don't want it to sound like I had a lovely easy smug time last time... my 10 minute pushing stage did come after a 72 hour labour. You win some, you lose some.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 30/05/2015 22:08

It's funny how some things you think are going to be awful are fine, and others the opposite. I was so worried about my pelvic floor, having had a few bladder / kidney operations in the past. But it's been fine, great in fact. C section recovery also fine - up and about really quickly.
Meanwhile things I thought would be easy such as breastfeeding (or getting DS to feed by any method) were really hard.
I think a lot of it's luck like Guybrush says. I think my excessive bleeding was probably due to my placenta problems, although I'm self-diagnosing here!

Gr33dyeggs · 30/05/2015 22:30

I struggled pushing ds out and mw suggested it was because I had been doing pelvic floor. I remember thinking 'if they'd told me it made it harder I wouldn't have bothered' obviously pleased now I did them and have stayed continent! I don't remember bleeding much at all.....just being very sore.
I do try and do them regularly but often forget - there's a poster on here somewhere with it as a username which is fab for reminding!

TakesTwoToTango · 31/05/2015 01:24

I'm still continent (thank god and long may that continue!) but I think I have a small prolapse as I get a heavy dragging feeling, and this pg I think my bladder might have prolapsed slightly too as I'm finding it harder to empty it than usual.

On the up side - locia for me has been lighter than a period both times and proper bleeding lasted only a week (spotting maybe another week ish but not that long and needing only a liner). As someone else said: you win some you lose some!

Focusfocus · 31/05/2015 03:45

I'm doing pelvic floors thrice a day, on most days and they are indeed a bore. No idea if they will help or not but I seem to be blanking out the thought of birth. No idea what it's like so what's the point of worrying!

Hi ladies! I haven't even thought about looking after a baby yet! Finally got my Down Syndrome results letter. I'm low risk with 1/595. It seems a bit high compared to others I've seen here. My HCG was 6 times over the average which of course I've been googling non-stop! My partner think I need to stop stressing and enjoy being pregnant but it's really hard not to worry.....

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 31/05/2015 07:20

Heather I've not heard of high hcg being a problem on its own. Did they say there were any associated risks? Your Downs risk is still nice and low.

Jucymyname · 31/05/2015 11:19

Good morning!
I haven't been here for a while and just catching up with the thread. There's so much going on! Some nice stories, poems (that YouTube video was lovely), and of course some silly comments. Luckily I haven't had any stupid ones, but MIL said with some kind of strange laugh "you don't want me to start again do you?", as if I'm going to beg her Confused. She helps us a lot, but again, I didn't ask her, she offered help. I'm grateful for it, but not for interfering and telling me what I have to do when I come back from work.

Heather my Down's syndrome risk is 1:470 and it's classed as low.

Can I ask you all for advice or your experience, please? I've had a bit of brown spotting (sorry if TMI) went to hospital yesterday and doctor said I had a polyp. Neck of the womb looks good, everything else is normal, baby's heartbeat is good. She couldn't see any obvious bleeding. So my question is has any of you had something similar? Can it bleed on its own a little bit? I'm of course worried as I had 2 MC before (in first trimester, I'm 17 weeks now). Have you got any reassuring stories?

Heather101 · 31/05/2015 11:50

Thanks Guy and Jucy! The midwife just said on the phone that it's usually associated with twins which it isn't. Maybe I should stop googling and wait to for my 16 week check next week. Have a nice Sunday!

Heather101 · 31/05/2015 11:51

Isn't twins I meant!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 31/05/2015 12:04

I've just had a red spot of blood this morning Sad nothing I can do until tomorrow as EPU are 9-5 Monday to Friday. It's just the one spot though so will wait and see if that's it. I'm 18+3. I had the same thing at 19 weeks last time and it was low placenta so wondering if it's the same again (painless, bright red)

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 31/05/2015 12:14

I don't think high hcg is associated with twins anyway because they just take all the results and divide them by two so you get a risk factor for each baby (I am having twins!). So yes, higher hcg overall, but the average should be normal with twins.
So I fear your midwife just made up a response because she didn't know the answer. Annoying how often they do that.

Anyway, if they haven't told you there is any issue or need for further investigation then I think you can be quite confident!

PinkaColada · 31/05/2015 12:18

Hi all, been a bit of a lurker on here until now, but I've had so many questions and thoughts this week about babies and pregnancy that I thought I'd get stuck in! I'm 31 and this is baby number 1. I'm 16+3, EDD 12th November. After the initial shock (was getting ready to try not officially trying!) I'm really excited.

Has anyone felt movement yet? I could have sworn I really felt it yesterday, but was only 16+2. It felt like a little tickle in a few places but mostly slightly up and to the right of my belly button. I really can't imagine what else it could have been, but it's so easy! I'm not really slim, a pre pregnancy 12 and a tendency to carry weight on my stomach. Not really much of a bump unless you count at night after exhaling deeply!

PinkaColada · 31/05/2015 12:19

*early not easy!

Jucymyname · 31/05/2015 12:45

Hi pinka I felt the movement since about 15 weeks, but it's my second. In my first pregnancy I felt movement at about 18 weeks. It's like a flutter or a tickle on the inside Smile

cryingbabymess · 31/05/2015 13:09

I'm really hoping I can feel the butterflies soon! Confused

PinkaColada · 31/05/2015 14:10

I know crying! Half of me thinks I've convinced myself it could be the baby. It could just be things stretching and changing. It's such a strange time. No real symptoms just kept the big boobs and stuck between maternity trousers and normal ones with a hairband. I want a bump and movement now!

Focusfocus · 31/05/2015 14:24

I've been feeling a daily "thing" since Monday. It's at the bottom left of my tummy usually and usually when I am sedentary. It's like a little, light spasm. When I say "spasm" I don't have a better word so having to use a dramatic word. It's like a little churn that's happened in my bottom left tummy muscles, am internal little wave, or shift. Like of a ball of cotton wool had decided to have a stretch and back again.

I was exactly 17 weeks on Tuesday and am 17+5 today with first baby, have never had this ever before.

Do you think it's baby? It's just happened again now. A few seconds and then settle down. Happens a few times a day, always bottom left central ish of tummy, never to the very right and never very high up.

Focus you described it perfectly! It feels strange, like nothing else. I have it on the left side of my tummy slightly below ovary.
Keep reporting the movements!

Dixiebell · 31/05/2015 15:05

pinka and focus, yes I think you're both feeling movements. It's about the right time. I was 16 weeks with my first. It's a lovely feeling!

TwoBeesInTheHive · 31/05/2015 15:07

heather101 my downs risk is 1:209 still considered low risk as the cut off is 1:150 I also have high hgc and low Papp-a, it's hard not to worry about these things isn't it x

Heather101 · 31/05/2015 17:26

Definitely TwoBees! This is going to be a long 6 months! Hope to feel butterflies soon too??

PinkaColada · 31/05/2015 17:28

Yes focus, that's just like mine! Thanks Dixie! It was so exciting, but then I doubted it. Nothing today though.

Focusfocus · 31/05/2015 17:51

Oh wow! That's exciting to hear! Feels weird though!!
