Nausea report here, I have discovered that grilled cheese on toast with Herta frankfurters is the. absolute. mutt's. nuts Grin Tomorrow it will probably be something else but today that's working for me. I also found myself thinking dreamily about cheese and crisp sandwiches on white bread, which I haven't eaten since I was about 10 Confused

brickie is it you that's the other frankfurter addict? (Not a euphemism, I hasten to add HmmGrin)

crumble74 · 27/05/2015 10:29

Haha manatee, it was brickie but also me!! I was born near Frankfurt as well so have a natural affinity for Frankfurters! Grin

juniper That's a terrible thing for them to say! They should never mention the M word until it's actually happened. So rude.

jmac Unfortunately that's what MMCs (missed miscarriages) are. The baby stops developing but your body does not reject it. My 1st pregnancy they found out at the scan that baby had died 4 weeks before. I had to have an ERPC.
I don't want to scare anyone, just wanted to answer the question. They are very rare though!!

crumble74 · 27/05/2015 10:31

Oh & thanks for crossed fingers, scan went well - We have a heartbeat & measuring just 1 day later than I thought! EDD now 3/1/16, making me 8+3. Booked in for a harmony test on 22/6!

Juniper44 · 27/05/2015 10:33

Moonshine, I'd tell the yoga instructor if I were you. There are certain movements you aren't supposed to do whilst pregnant. From memory, they're the more advanced ones anyway so it depends on what level class it is!

I'm trying to build up the motivation to take DD swimming. She's just insisted on doing 'the grand o'duke of York', which involves chucking her up and down. That's about the limit to my exercise! To be fair, she's 24lbs so it is quite a workout.

moonshine25 · 27/05/2015 10:52

Thanks Juniper! Have decided to give it a miss - partly because I'm feeling lazy and also because I was having tummy cramps yesterday so want to give my body a rest (think it's the laziness winning haha!) I think I may go swimming on Friday though - bet your muscles are great with all that chucking up and down!

Fab news crumble!!! Bet that's so exciting to know all is well ??

Oh and I adore frankfurters!!! Food shop later so some of those will definitely go in the trolley - yum!

MissMartin1992 · 27/05/2015 11:03

manatee omg i love herta frankfurters! they are nice cut up into slices in chicken noodles or in scrambled egg lol Grin

MissMartin1992 · 27/05/2015 11:13

my dp had a bright idea not to get a puppy while I'm off on maternity leave so it's not on its own all day... aparently its the perfect time! not that having a baby to look after is enough for me..aparently now i need to look after a little shitting dog aswell haha.

mrschatty · 27/05/2015 11:25

Ehhh....no martin not a good idea! DH said it would be the perfect time for me to do an open university course on mat leave- I just smiled and said yes dear...

ValancyJane · 27/05/2015 11:27

Welcome moon and congratulations :)

Juniper Glad all looked good at the scan (though that was rather unnecessary of the radiologist, the cow!)

crumble Glad your scan went well :)

I had a teeny tiny bit of nausea this morning - but it vanished after I had muesli. I would quite like some proper morning sickness to reassure me (it's the only time in my life I'd quite welcome being sick!). I keep freaking out most mornings because my boobs don't hurt, but they do by the end of most days. Just wish I felt a bit more pregnant. OH and I dtd last night and I did have a bit of spotting afterwards, but it was a teeny tiny itsy bitsy amount, so I'm trying very hard not to freak out!

Big symptom today is my sense of smell again - I woke up and couldn't bear the smell of the house thanks to the cat's litter tray! I had a look and it doesn't even look like he's done anything particularly unpleasant in there, but I can just smell it all over the house! I've opened all windows and doors, sat here shivering now!!

mrschatty · 27/05/2015 11:38

How far along are you valancy? I'm just over 7wk this is the first day of sickness xx

ValancyJane · 27/05/2015 12:14

Not that far mrs only 5+6 today... I know I'm probably worrying over nothing!!

jmac88 · 27/05/2015 12:14

Thank you for your response crumble though I'm sorry it happened to you. Maybe I will wait until the scan to an ounce to everyone then...

What are others doing?

valancy I totally agree about the boobs thing. Apparently while you're sleeping or lying down the water and blood drains from everywhere in your body to go to your uterus which is why they feel smaller and less tender when you wake up.

Also just to update my hot milk bras arrived and they are lovely. Size of sleep bra was a lot bigger than expected though but guess I will grow into it!

ValancyJane · 27/05/2015 12:18

Actually I just remembered what I meant to ask today ladies - because we were ttc quite actively I know that I ovulated on CD17 (of a 28 day cycle) most months including last month for certain. Does that mean I'm really only 5+3? I started out by calculating from LMP which was what my doctor did, but am now wondering if I should adjust it... Will feel a bit sad about going 'back in time!' but I guess it's better to be accurate! Any ideas?

Joey0805 · 27/05/2015 12:18

Valancy - be careful what you wish for! At 5 wks I was mildly nauseous, am 8 weeks now and it's steadily been getting worse and worse and I feel pretty grim most of the time now! I'm lucky that I've not actually been sick but I feel so gross...

Blackandwhitecat3 · 27/05/2015 12:20

Valancy IMHO that hyper-sensitive sense of smell is the biggest indicator you are (still) pregnant Smile. Just for fun, I'm going to start predicting which smell it will be each morning. Yesterday it was the lingering fish smell from dinner the night before (DH couldn't smell it), today it was DH's coffee breath, tomorrow, who knows, maybe I'll hate the fabric conditioner scent in the bedcovers Grin

ValancyJane · 27/05/2015 12:21

jmac Thanks, that's reassuring and would make sense! Mine are definitely bigger and ache like hell at night. Think I've worried about it most morning this week, I will calm down now!

I'm definitely going to order some of the hot milk bras when I'm further along, loads of people say good things about them :)

Blackandwhitecat3 · 27/05/2015 12:23

Yes Valancy your ovulation date will give you a more accurate EDD, so you should add 3 days to the EDD you got from LMP (or take 3 days off how far along you are). It's only 3 days though, in a couple of weeks that won't make much difference at all

ValancyJane · 27/05/2015 12:26

joey I know, I'm probably jinxing it all and know I will regret it massively in a few weeks, just feel that it would be a 'good' symptom to have, which I know sounds utterly ridiculous. Poor you - hopefully it will ease up soon!

b&w Glad it's not just me!! I tell you what else I found gross smell-wise this morning which was weird, a cardigan I wore yesterday. I only wore it for a few hours and just mooched around the house. Put it on this morning and immediately chucked it in the wash with some other bits as I was convinced it smelt weird!

ValancyJane · 27/05/2015 12:28

b&w Thanks, I thought that would probably be the case! 5+3 and EDD 24th Jan it is then!

Tonicandgin · 27/05/2015 12:34

Good news on the scan Juniper. I had a similarly shitty dr first time round who mentioned the 'm' word completely unnecessarily. Eejits.

Any news from the others who had scans this morning? Hope they went okay.

My sense of smell is clearly increasing. Last time I couldn't walk past the fridge without my stomach turning. Today, I've been walking round the house looking for the source of burning. Smelling my laptop (I'm meant to be working) and other frankly crackers behaviour. Turns out a guy about 5 doors up is burning something in his garden, all the windows/doors are shut and have been all morning.

They should send me out with the drugs squad.

parsnipbob · 27/05/2015 13:22

So how would I calculate how pregnant I am from my Ovulation date? I was temping so I know I ovulated on day 15 of my cycle, should I adjust my EDD date?

Ta :)

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/05/2015 13:32

Congrats moonshine! I would suggest not bothering with yoga until after 12 weeks, the yoga community have a right stick up their arse about women in their first trimester, I've been turfed out of a class before which was supposed to be for beginners and antenatal! They claim its to do with the poses but the advice I've had from all others, midwife included, is that you can carry on as normal as long as you're not doing anything extreme.

valancy don't worry my nausea didn't start until 6 weeks plus, and it came on quite gradually, felt a bit more nauseous for a bit longer each day. I've felt it every day since I was 6 weeks but the time varies completely, I've had it at night time (10/11pm and later!) for the last couple of nights which makes it hard to get to sleep, but none whatsoever first thing! Anyone else found their nausea hits at different times of the day?

loveulotslikejellytots · 27/05/2015 13:34

Yep, sense of smell is through the roof. DH had (rather a lot) of red wine on Saturday, I swore I could still smell it on him yesterday!

I can't remember who asked about when are you telling people. But we told parents a week after we found out and out friends (husband and wife) because we socialise with them a lot and it was handy having them in on the secret! Plus the DH of the couple is my DH's boss, so he wanted him to know just in case. We told 2 friends at the weekend, didn't plan to, DH was just talking a bit loudly (after the red wine) they couldn't help but over hear!

I really want to tell my nan, it's her Birthday Saturday and I'd love to get her a great grandma card! But then I change my mind and think I should wait for a scan!!

Joey0805 · 27/05/2015 13:37

Looking - definitely! Sometimes for me it's worse 7-8pm and mornings are easier. It's coming in waves throughout the day , morning sickness is the worst name ever!! I still don't have many issues with smell thankfully... I did get a bit weird about the smell of Parma ham a few days ago ( which DH was eating) and also milky coffee which I hate anyway but it's not been nearly as acute as it seems to be for others. Apparently my uterus is now the size of an orange! That's making me feel a bit better about feeling so bloated all the time!

parsnipbob · 27/05/2015 13:52

No sickness at all here! But only 5+3 so I'm sure it won't last.
