As it was, I had ds early!

mummyofone so sorry to hear your sad news, how stressful for you. Hope the miscarriage isn't too traumatic physically, glad you have lots of RL support.

oneconfusedchick With you there on the long irregular cycles. From my OPKs there is 3 weeks difference from ovulation dating to the LMP dating, 8 weeks vs 5 weeks. It was the same with my DS. But confused this time though that Clearblue had me at 3+ at 12dpo. Midwife last time asked me to have a scan as if LMP was correct just in case I had a short cycle. Happy if they do that again as means I get an early scan. Don't think it had a bearing on length of pregnancy FWIW, my DS was born couple of days before due date.

Feeling lots of symptoms today, nausea, dizziness, but holding onto them for signs it's progressing okay.

Yokyil · 25/05/2015 13:32

mummy I'm so sorry about your news!!! I hope you're being looked after. Take it easy and look after yourself xx

parsnipbob · 25/05/2015 13:39

oyster this is my first too and my EDD is 25 Jan - I think there are a few of us late Januaries!

Oysterbabe · 25/05/2015 13:45

That's good, nice to have some buddies at the same place!

Oysterbabe · 25/05/2015 13:48

I'm absolutely bursting to tell my friends and family but we've agreed to not tell anyone until the first scan. It's going to a be a long couple of months Smile
I might secretly confide in my best friend

Lookingforadvice123 · 25/05/2015 14:28

Congratulations oyster! This is my first.

With the LMP date thing, at your 12 week scan do they then correct how far along you are based on size of the bean, which is more reflective of your ovulation date than LMP? Sorry I don't think that makes sense to anyone but me - so my LMP date is 30 March, making me 8 weeks exactly today. My cycles were always regular, but obviously I would've ovulated about halfway between my LMP date and getting my bfp, so I'm actually 6 weeks roughly from conception. So say my scan is booked when I'm 12 weeks based on LMP, will the size of the bean actually be 10 weeks, as that's how long since conception? Or does it just work by dating the pregnancy from your LMP so everyone effectively "gains" 2 weeks?

Bovnydazzler · 25/05/2015 14:35

looking for advice dating using LMP assumes everyone will pvulate on day 14 on your cycle. So the LMP dating will correctly have your baby dated 12 weeks for most people at the scan as pregnancies are dated 2 weeks before you conceive (ovulation + 2weeks).

I didn't ovulate till day 35 therefore I'm 21 days different than the 'average' which LMP are based on.

ValancyJane · 25/05/2015 15:00

Niff Fingers crossed for Thursday, hope all goes well :)

Welcome Oyster and congratulations! This is also my first pregnancy, 5+4 at the moment and due Jan 21st.

I finally told my Mum today, she was suitably excited. She gave me a great opening too by showing me a baby hat she'd knitted for a friend of hers that's due soon. I suggested she might want to knit another for me, and her jaw just dropped as she realised! She's very excited, though has promised to not start knitting until after the 12 week scan.

Nausea off and on this morning, but seems to have settled now. The smell of OH's curry supernoodles is really upsetting me though, have had to open patio door to let the smell out!

Juniper44 · 25/05/2015 15:35

My cycles are long and irregular too. Last time, the GP used my LMP to date but then at the 12 week scan they said I was a week less preggers than I thought. I wasn't tracking my ovulation and conceived first cycle off the pill so didn't have any clues.

This time, I've been tracking my ovulation and I do ovulate late- normally about day 22. Last month, however, things went wonky. Just to mess with me, I guess!

Valancy I think we're due date buddies Smile Tomorrow's scan will tell all.

Oyster I was due on 30th Sept 2013, so was right at the end of my MN group. DD was 3 days late so an October baby. Some babies were born in August, so they're a full 6 weeks older than her! Was weird at the time but now they're older it doesn't make much difference, as my fellow Sept folk Rollermum and Tonic will agree. Maybe.

Bluebird89 · 25/05/2015 16:01

Gosh there is a lot to catch up on. I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.

Mummy I'm so sorry, take good care of yourself .

Looking I've been thinking the exact same thing. At the 12 week scan are most people actually only 10 weeks from conception. I have no idea what date to go with. From my LMP I'm 6 weeks, some of the apps I've downloaded where I've done my due date from conception have me at 5 weeks yet I know I'm 3 weeks from ovulation and conception. Why is it so confusing!!

Seems a lot of people have been telling their parents this weekend. We told DPs parents and are telling mine tonight. It's such a nice feeling to have other people know and to be able to discuss it.

Tonicandgin · 25/05/2015 16:13

I so agree Juniper. Dd was an an Oct baby too and I found it reallly good to be the youngest. I got tips from everyone else so by the time I had the same challenges there were loads of hints/tips and I expected various things. The age gaps make less difference as they get older too.

Lookingforadvice123 · 25/05/2015 16:17

Confusing isn't it bluebird! I never used any OPKs so can only guess that I ovulated around the middle of my cycle seeing as I had regular 28-day cycles and caught then. But that's only 6 weeks roughly since conception whereas LMP dates me as 8 weeks. The further along I am the better though so I'm going with 8 weeks!

Bluebird89 · 25/05/2015 16:36

Ha yes that's what I'm starting to think - I should go with the method that puts me furthest along.

Blimeygirl · 25/05/2015 16:51

Haha Valancy my mum sounds similar as on the day I told her she insisted we went knitting pattern shopping! Also the day we told my nanna, she started knitting and had done half an item when we saw her two days later!!

crumble74 · 25/05/2015 17:17

I'm really sorry to hear mummy, please look after yourself. I'm glad you have a great support network.

Sorry also to donna. MCs are hard but talking about it helps. Even just talking it through in your own head.

dobbythedoggy · 25/05/2015 17:50

Having some spotting this afternoon. Spoke to a lovely nurse from her out of hours service who was very reassuring. Planning to spend the next few days on the sofa and hope it doesn't mean anything.

TeenieDeenie · 25/05/2015 18:04

Mummy and Donna, I'm so, so sorry. I hope you both have lots of support in real life. Hugs to you both. X
