Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 28th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 46th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oLJqpadAb2givKYq8OJfGCti3s6xzsTGlI-GoaBfM_M/edit?pli=1#gid=0

That's brilliant jelly about the scan, how exciting! You might have the heartbeat then! I did at the same time - however if you don't yet then don't stress as everything I read said it may or may not be there at 6 weeks and if not it is absolutely nothing to worry about so I wasn't expecting anything I would have been mega excited just to see the sac!

Fleurchamp · 22/05/2015 16:14

Hey viroids

purple I have LLL "the art of womanly breast feeding" or whatever the awful title is, on my kindle for holiday reading. I am proper freaked out by it all. It's pretty hardcore.

Then I have read other book which are all about the routine, I would like a middle way, please. Where I get to have a little me time without destroying my baby/ messing with their mind and reducing milk supply.

Not sure I have congratulated you tori a beautiful boy Grin

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 16:23

purple it's actually at 7 weeks 2 days, even though she's calling it a 6 week scan (think they work from date of ovulation not last period). :)

Just napped for 3 hours which is unlike me!

teejayem · 22/05/2015 17:33

I shopping was a bit of a cop out, I waddled into primark, had a pedicure, waddled in marks and spencer and bought a trolleys worth of essentially nothing but cream cake and pork pies. (And token pineapple) wanted to go into boots, mothercare plus get a card for my nephew's birthday tomorrow, but in true preggo woman with the crazies style I got a text from Mr tee saying we were going for dinner at MiLs tomorrow after we talked about these last couple of weekends being just for us, and I got all lip wobbly and wanted to go home. I'm just going to tell him no. I don't want to go. I don't want to sit in her fag smoke filled house, eat her crap food and listen to her tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing, tantrum and if that doesn't work, I'm going to throw a sickie.
I don't know if the walking did anything, but there was significantly more cm than my usual gallon when I checked at home. Hmmmm...!

Nipple fiddling gives me Tonis, although I've bestowed the honour to Mr tee to twiddle to his hearts content.

Purpleball · 22/05/2015 17:39

Fleur that's the one I've got too. It's scary hardcore. Especially as I won't be having a natural when the baby is ready birth unless it's before 38 weeks

Tee that's pants and definitely don't go. I'd be mad at him for arranging it when you were having a quiet one. She's probably asked him and he's not thought of a good enough reason to say no or she's not accepted his reason. She sounds that difficult!

La nipple twiddling is meant to bring on labour, or give you Toni's in Tee's case

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 19:07

I know it's premature thinking about it but how much would you ladies say a baby costs for initial set up on average? I know it's kind of a "how long is a piece of string" question but what would you say roughly?

gaggiagirl · 22/05/2015 19:33

I managed to get everything from wipes to buggy from nappies to furniture everything for just less than £300 for DD. That was four years ago and I'm incredibly frugal. I'm spending nowt this time!
Dont forget all the gifts people will want to buy for you too.

Fattycow · 22/05/2015 19:34

jelly, I'm happy to share our spendings with you.

Travel system with free car seat and changing bag: 450 euro.
Play pen: gift from the inlaws.
Crib: shared from a friend.
Changing table: my own old one.
Cot we are going to use for co-sleeping and a mattress: 50 euro.
Extra changing bag: 10 euro.
Cloth nappies: 400 euro.
Clothes, muslins and bedding: 75 euro.
Baby bath: gift from my cousin.
Redecorating nursery: 40 euro.
Breast pump and breast pads: won one.
Birth kit: 20 euro.
Hypnobirthing book: 20 euro.

And I'm looking into buying a birth pool, but I might just labour dry as the pools are quite expensive.

gaggiagirl · 22/05/2015 19:34

That was to jelly

DulcetMoans · 22/05/2015 19:36

No even sure how to answer that jelly. Do you mean just essentials of what you need?

Apparently my mum did that with me too niff, no idea if it worked though!

What a tit he is tee! Think you an change his plans? Maybe a reminder will get you out of it but if not I think you look a little unwell and should stay in bed!

Even as grown ups we have a teddy escort for holidays. He's called Dave and he poses for photos. No one assesses his activities through a scrap book though...

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 19:45

thanks ga and fatty :)

dulcet yeah mainly setting up costs, we're saving for our wedding in May next year and obviously need to start saving for the baby as well, but I wasn't sure how much everything costs roughly! I'll maybe just get a rough idea from Mothercare or Kiddicare at some point.

gaggiagirl · 22/05/2015 19:49

dulcet I'm going to send little nut brown hare round to keep Dave company!
We had to have our tea on a picnic blanket on the floor tonight so we could document it in little nut brown hares diary and take photos for his album. DD let it have a taste of all our foods. Its friggin filthy!

Fattycow · 22/05/2015 19:59

jelly, there is no rough amount. It depends on what you think is important. I wanted a new pram, as it is very hard to really clean one and you never know how a pre-owned one was kept (might have been in a moldy shed for a year).
Car seats must be new in my opinion, as you need to be sure it has never been in an accident. A fall counts as an accident as well! A seat might still look perfect, but be damaged on the inside. I would never forgive myself if I found out I had a 'broken' car seat and something bad happened.

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 20:19

Thanks fatty, it's all stuff I've never thought of. We would on ably buy most stuff new, we worked out we could save hopefully around 3.5k by January so that should Cover it hopefully

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 20:37

Probably not on ably

Fattycow · 22/05/2015 20:45

3.5k is more than enough!

I did see a lady on telly yesterday who was spending crazy amount though! 10,125 euro for a crib, a wardrobe, a changing table and a chest of drawers...

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 20:46

That's stupid! That money will also go towards funds for mat leave pay reduction, so hopefully we have enough! :)

DulcetMoans · 22/05/2015 20:52

That's more than enough for baby 'stuff' jelly and if you aren't too fussy you can get lots secondhand. I recommend a NCT sale!

I'm wiped out! Bed time anyone? Sounds kinky but no touching, just sleeping!

Fattycow · 22/05/2015 20:54

dulcet, I'll happily go to bed with you, but with one condition: loads of pillows to get comfy!

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 20:54

Early night in this house for certain. I don't know if it's an early pregnancy thing or what but I'm so tired at the moment.

DulcetMoans · 22/05/2015 20:59

It's a general pregnancy thing I think jelly, but first and third were the worst for me.

Ok, deal fatty. There's 6 pillows plus a dream genii in and around my bed. We might need a bigger bed!

PixieChops · 22/05/2015 21:23

Cani get in too dulcet?
Had such a shitty shitty week.
Grandads funeral yesterday, I blubbed so hard my heart hurts and I keep spontaneously bursting into tears today. Not helped by the DWP who I had to ring as my EESA is running out next Tuesday. I've been told on numerous occasions that as I'm pregnant I'm entitled to income support and need to claim from 29 weeks (not worked in just over a year due to having 2 consecutive pregnancies. So I ring up the department who declared that yes I am entitled and can I go to the nearest job centre today. I obviously oblige as if my benefit gets cut on Tuesday we are then left £300 short a month. OH works but he's self employed so it's feast or famine with his job. I get there, bearing in mind I'm 35 weeks pregnant and heaving a wriggly 1 year old in tow. Get taken upstairs to be faced opposite a complete bitch of a woman who tells me that no I'm not entitled to a bean as I'm living with my partner. There is no apology for wasting my time, no help to see if there's anything else that can be done as I'm not entitled to any kind of maternity pay, basically she treated me like the biggest scrounger that ever walked the earth (I can assure you I am NOT, I've worked since I was 13 and I'm 29 now, it's only been a year that I've had to claim benefits, I've always paid my taxes- one year I paid 34k just in taxes as I was earning a lot) so I grabbed my coat and literally ran out sobbing clutching my DD. don't know what we are going to do. I've been told of I can get another medical letter off the doctor then I can continue to claim EESA for 3 months. But after that, that's it. I know £300 doesn't sound a lot to be losing a month but that buys our food. If we dot have that I don't know what we are going to do. Trying to not get too upset about it but it's really stressing me out. ??

Purpleball · 22/05/2015 21:39

Bloody hell Pixie, I'm sure you should get SMP or maternity allowance. Fecking DWP you need Tee to send them a Jiffy bag Angry

Jelly, it's pretty much up to you how much you spend. You'll find that your family and friends will buy things. Ive set up an Amazon baby list which I can invite people to if they ask what we want. Hopefully that way we don't get things we don't need, or not too much of them.
My parents are buying the pram.
I've got a 2nd hand travel cot and cotbed off the local FB selling site. I've just ordered a cotbed mattress on a bargain deal from Bounty. It was £40 not £120.
I got the changing bag as a birthday present from my sister and brother. So far nothing offered by the in laws but DH thinks they will. Hopefully they will buy the car seat and base

My brother is giving us all the clothes that their boy and girl have grown out of, plus things like bouncy chair and baby gym once my nephew is done with them. You'll find people are happy to pass things on as they tend to want rid if they're not having any more.

PixieChops · 22/05/2015 21:49

I'd love Tee to send off a big bag of shite to them! Lol
That Amazon list sounds like a very good idea Purple Smile luckily we don't need very much as it's our second, just a case of upgrading the pram to a double, few boyish bits (some of DDs clothes were neutral which is a bonus!) and a side bed thingy.

jellypi3 · 22/05/2015 22:08

That's a great idea purple, I'll keep it in mind for the later part of pregnancy :)

pixie sorry you are going through a tough time. Can you get advice from the citizens advice berau?
