moomimin · 09/11/2006 17:25

Hi Lisa, Sounds like pg'cy poses a rough time for you. So sorry about your s/b must be a really hard time for you this whole pg stuff. Us May gals should help keep you cheery, or drive you insane either way, you'll be very welcome.
Everything crossed for an easier time for you this time round. xxx

MKG you crack me up, birthing on the lawn in the sun, might start a new trend, you could charge for spectators. SCARY

Have an idea for a name tell me what you think?

How about Frenchsmallfry, FSF for short OR
BeaninFrance, BIF

moomimin · 09/11/2006 17:31

Oppps really must stop refreshing this whils I'm cooking. Anyone for stuck to the bottom of the pan chilli con carne.

ShowOfHands · 09/11/2006 17:41

chilli con carne here please!

Love FrenchSmallFry, go for it.

Welcome Lupins (beautiful flowers)! Very sorry to hear about your s/b. Pregnancy is worrying for everybody, but my 'ooh I feel a bit sick' pales into comparison really. Looking forward to getting to know you, you'll find lots of support here.

How many of us are there now?

moomimin · 09/11/2006 18:20

Is that the reason for your name Lupins. Flowers? I ask because I have a bf in the UK that we called Lupins at school. Her name is Lisa and it comes from Lisa Lou, to Loupi Lou to Lupins. IYKWIM.

Sorry ate all the chilli, it was lovely, didn't scrape the bottom. lol

moomimin · 09/11/2006 18:28

I tink there is about 31 of us. lol one for every day of May then.

cinnamontam · 09/11/2006 19:02

Hey Lupins - wishing you all the luck and peace with this pg. I'm a 1971 chick too - what month are you?

Well, I just had my first scan and it was bloody amazing. I have a Mexican Jumping bean in my belly i kid you not. The guy started and said ok - there it is, lets just go looking for a heartb...and then the little thing did a flip and started waving it's arms around! It was incredible. We got a great side profile pic where you can see an eye, nose and jaw. Nuchal measurement was 1mm so nice and low, length was great and I've only moved 2 days later so due May 27th instead of May 25th.

At one point it looked like 'bean' was punching the air - little fists were flying.

Unbelieveable - nothing like I expected. Booked in for the 21 week scan on Jan 15th...off to eat stuff in celebration

aprilmeadow · 09/11/2006 19:30

Pebblemum - great news on all of your appointments

Moom - so jealous if it has gone! mine is still here bold as day.

Hi and welcome lupins.

Great news on scan cinnamontam.

Sorry i havent been around much - although i have been reading up every day. Not feeling great as this sickness seems never ending. I am really busy at work and to cap it all off i have been running round like a blue arsed fly getting ready for our move next week, only to find out today that its not going to be until w/c20th Nov! ARGGHHHH

Although reading you r conversations cheers me up no end as you ladies are just soooo funny

moomimin · 09/11/2006 19:30

Great news cinnanmontam! very pleased for you.

lupins71 · 09/11/2006 19:43

pebblemum · 09/11/2006 22:46

Evenine everyone, im just off to bed as i have to leave the house at 7.15am for my scan. Am still nervous. I have a horrible feeling all is not right, not sure why as ive had no bad signs its just a feeling, hopefully i will be shown up for the prat i am at the scan tomorrow and everything will be ok. Fingers Xed. Ive even decided that there can be two in there if it wants as long as the scan shows everything to be normal and ok.

Also wanted to say welcome to the mad house Lupin. You can count on us to keep you entertained (or be there if you need us). I mean where else can you meet a bunch of women who openly talk about their gas problems (and i dont mean household gas either), or the fact they are gettng hairs in odd places, or who admit to measuring themselves with loo roll every week Its a good job we are spread all over the place, could you imagine if we all lived near each other and had the same midwives, i think they would all resign by the end of May, if they still had their sanity

Goodnight ladies and hopefully will be able to come on here tomorrow with good news. Then you can all tell me what a neurotic prat i was for worrying.

jessinwa · 09/11/2006 22:52

we are all neurotic prats.

luckymummy2sophie · 09/11/2006 23:22

Just gatecrashing......had my lo may this year, I'm kind of envious of you all going thru this, esp if it's your first one. It's so exciting, enjoy being pregnant, if you can!! I was only thinking earlier that it's a year since I had my 12 week scan....ahhhh, fond memories!

aprilmeadow · 10/11/2006 07:11

Morning ladies, I am up nice and early this morning as Jackanory decided to wake up at 6.15am. So far have watched Tikkabilla and Teletubbies, just waiting for Tweenies to start!

Have found out that if i cough it maks me want to vomit! Found this out last night after i anknowingly gassed dh whilst in bed was just about to blame the sewer farm behind our house. Made me laugh so much that i needed to cough and then had to stop myself throwing up. Also, sneezed at work yesterday and had to run to teh loo as i nearly wet myself! Oh the joys .

Jess, after reading about your beer, it make me want one. It was so nice, a cold carlsberg with my name on it to go with my chicken and cheese fajitas yummmmmy

Has anyone had any cravings yet? I seem to have gone mad for bacon sandwiches. I had one for lunch 3 days in a row! I really had to stop myself getting one yesterday and opted for a cheese and tomato baguette. It wasnt the same and gave me terrible indigestion. Could have alos been down to all the choclate i ate.....

I have a lovely yummy receipe for all you chocolate lovers. Its called Squidge. You break up 4 mars bars, add a blob of butter and pop in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take it out and mix it all together and pop back in the micro until it has all melted. Stir and add in rice krispies - add as many or as few as you like to meet your desired consistency. Place the mix into cake cases. You can eat it warm or pop in the fridge. Either way it is yummmmmmmy

largeginandtonic · 10/11/2006 07:20

Morning all, am so just waved Dh off in a taxi. Thats it he's gone until 8th december, then i see him for the Dartmouth Ball (v posh) I will look like a whale by then.....

It sucks, im back to 5 mini demons on my own and my neighbour (only friend since i moved here) is moving this weekend. I thought it wouldnt be this hard moving to a new place and having Dh away. I was wrong

What would i do without you guys to talk to, am blubbing now and kids are up asking for brekkie, back later. Will try and pull myself together

aprilmeadow · 10/11/2006 08:19

Oh LG&T it must be so hard for you. I hope that the times flys for you between now and then. Have you sorted a dress?

Better go and get myself ready for work and getting ds to nursery. I will try and get on when my bosses are not looking

Juicylucythe2nd · 10/11/2006 09:35

LG&T - Poor you. pg and on your own with 5. I think you might be in for a sainthood

Welcome Lupins. We have the same due date.

SOH - I live on the 25 bus route too. I can come and watch you give birth too if you like

BTW - ms has not left yet. Made a short appearance last night when I tried to eat a juicy argentinian steak. Nice timing. Buggar.

pebblemum · 10/11/2006 10:22

Morning all!!

Ive just got back from my scan . Everything is great, the baby is the right size for my date and there is only one in there. The risks of abnormalties is very low so i can breath more easily now. I think im going to have a very active baby. It kept using its legs to push off the womb and stretch. It was moving all over the place. I was given 6 very good pics, one of which shows the face in very good detail. I will try to post it later, for now im off to eat the cheese and tomato toastie i have just made, im starving.

Oh and i had my blood done today, i was very brave. The nurse took one lot then just as i was about to leave she realised that she had forgotten one, bugger. The only vein available to her was on the back of my hand and it bloody hurt. I have a bad phobia of needles so i think i was very brave, i didnt even feel faint although i did come over very hot

Aprilmeadow, ive been craving fruit for weeks now. I have to make sure i have a fruit salad on hand every day even if its just a tinned one. I get very cranky if i fancy it and there isnt one. With ds1 i was like it with pork pies (never liked them before) and ds2 was curry sauce so a healthy fruit salad craving i can live with, hopefully i wont put too much weight on this time

LG&T it must be hard being left on your own but remember we are always here and also dont forget that once the kids are in bed you can eat and watch what you like without worrying about dh or looking like a pig (no one is there to witness it so you can deny everything). Also you can openly cry at things on tv without looking silly.

ShowOfHands · 10/11/2006 10:22

Hope this works:

for LG&T Just click on 'skip to e-card'. I think it's a fairly good representation of the support MN can offer you. We're all thinking of you...

Oh and I cannot cough without wanting to vomit either.

Hope the scan went well pebblemum, thinking of you.

ShowOfHands · 10/11/2006 10:26

Cross posts pebblemum.

Here's one for you!

jellybeans · 10/11/2006 10:37

Hi everyone,

Glad some of you have had good scans Such a relief isn't it?

I have just told my mum I am 12 wks pg with #5. She was abit off and shocked. Why should I feel like I am letting people down? This baby wasn't planned and I can see she is worried as I was lucky to survive the boys birth (major PPH) 4 years ago. but it was a shock to me to since we used contraception. She just kept stressing it our 'choice' and she didn't think I would 'do it after last time'. Dread to think of the discussions going on with her and my dad!

My friends have been good and nothing negative there. I just don't get it and am mega depressed about it all now.

pebblemum · 10/11/2006 10:38

Aaah thank you SOH that was very nice. The picture looked a bit like me when she stuck the needle in the back of my hand

My toastie is going down a treat. Only problem is now i want to have a nap, ive come over all tired but i have a pile of ironing to do and i need to hoover. Does anyone know when this tiredness is supposed to ease. Everyday this week ive fallen asleep at 2pm, dh is geting fed up. The only time we really spend time together is during the afternoon and im spending it asleep

Who is left that needs to have a scan. We still havent had any news of twins yet and surely time is running out now, there cant be many on here still waiting for scans.

pebblemum · 10/11/2006 10:45

Jellybeans dont let it get you down. My mums reaction when i told her i was pg with this one (my third) was 'oh no'. She excited about it now though i think it was just the shock. I expect your mums reaction was brought on through worry for you. It sounds like you had a really bad time last time and i expect she is worried it will happen again. I think that once the shock has worn off she will realise how upsetting her reaction to the news was. My sisters friend had problems with her 2nd child, she lost a lot of blood, almost died and so when she went on to have her third everyone reacted to the news the same way your mum has. She soon came around though and now dotes on her grandson. I think its fear that makes people react without thinking. As long as you are happy ignore anyone elses comments

pebblemum · 10/11/2006 10:47

meant to say 'they soon came around', and , 'they dote on their granson' My brains working faster than my fingers

jellybeans · 10/11/2006 10:50

aw thanks pebblemum, you really cheered me up Was your sisters friends 3rd birth OK then? I am hoping as it is just one baby this time and I will be closely watched, that all will be OK. My mum was funny with #3 also (we sadly lost that baby then had twins) she said awful things that time. She has this thing about 2 kids being enough. xx

pebblemum · 10/11/2006 11:08

The pregnancy and birth went fine with her third. She was closely monitored through out the pregnancy and everyone was on alert in case it happened again but she sailed through it ok.

I hate it when people assume that 2 children is the right number to have and when you tell them you are expecting no3,4 etc they look as though you are mad. I am one of three, my sister has had 3, my aunt would have had 3 but her last one turned out to be twins. It seems fairly normal in my family to have 3 but most of my friends think 2 kids is the norm. I think each to their own, personally i could not imagine having more than 3 (but then again, you never know) but i dont think theres anything wrong with it.

I think that if your mum cant be supportive then she should just keep her opinions to herself, the same goes for anyone else who criticises our choices
