Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Wineandchoccy · 27/04/2015 20:14

RL I had a 5 day course of antibiotics because 1 of my stitches had come apart but Its all healed now. I also had lactulose I took 10ml for 2 days, 5ml for 2 days and 2.5ml for 2 days and I'm back to normal.

Been for a lovely long walk today and breastfed outside of the house for the first time and it was ok I managed not to flash to much boob Grin

RL20 · 27/04/2015 20:17

Thanks for all of the advice... Still petrified to go but I know that I will need to at some point Confused

And yes to who said about waiting for it to hang out! I know what you mean, lol.
Now to take some lactulose...

smogsville · 27/04/2015 20:40

RL apparently movicol is really good

smogsville · 27/04/2015 20:52

Slings - I have two that friends have given us one's a close caboo (i think) the other is a moby wrap.

I find them both terrifying in equal measure and can't wait for DS to be big and strong enough for our sturdy, simple baby bjorn...

cinnamongreyhound · 27/04/2015 21:07

Oh yes that looks similar PenguinPoser, I will get dh to film when I put him in for school run tomorrow Smile

RL20 I agree the idea is worse than actually going! I would just say make sure baby isn't alone crying when you go so you can relax a bit. Also agree good sleep leads to good sleep! May be worth keeping at eye on him sleeping better while not flat as it may be a sign of reflux. Ds1 hated laying flat, spent most of his time upright on my chest or screaming! But did settle for short naps in his bouncy chair.

Mine is 20th may ChickenMe, it's 6 weeks here too for me and baby. Definitely mention your worries, better not to let things just drift on unchecked.

Had a lovely day for ds1's birthday, lovely sunny day today and I did both dogs walks so back to normal in that way! He loved all his presents and had a lovely tea at Pizza Hut. My mum was very happy that she got cuddles with a sleeping grandson so I'm expecting either a late night or an early wake up as he hasn't had his usual evening cluster feed!

FiRaffe · 27/04/2015 21:35

Just catching up. Happy birthday to your DCs cinnamon and daholster.

Hope you're getting progress ladies who are expecting.

Been a nightmare day today, but thankfully not because of DS! My mum has come to visit on the train but thanks to someone being hit by a train at Surbiton DS and I had to go on a road trip to rescue her! Bless him, he slept the whole way which was nice after last night's screams but meant I didn't get my afternoon nap! Ah well, there is always tomorrow

RL20 · 27/04/2015 22:04

No poo as yet although I did have a pain down there earlier as if something was getting going, had to squat on floor because of pain Confused.

Midwife is coming again tomorrow so if I've not had one by then, then I'll see what she thinks.

Thanks for reflux advice, I didn't know about that.

Lauren82000 · 28/04/2015 00:43

First wake up of the night. Feeling refreshed and happy. Been 3 hours since last feed although I had to hold her for about 45mins after I did manage to get her settled in the basket. Small victories. Grin

On a side note the night sweats have started. Hmm I'm not soaked but my top is a bit damp. I decided against wearing a bra tonight too just stuck some pads to my pjs I'm much more comfortable too.

PenguinPoser · 28/04/2015 00:53

Thanks cinnamon! Bet your dh will wonder what on earth you are doing Grin. Glad you had a lovely day for your ds birthday.

Yay for feeding in public wineandchoccy!

Fi oh dear about your impromptu road trip. The afternoon nap is a tricky one. On the one hand I want to be out and about and on the other I'd rather just be asleep.

Woke from a pretty deep sleep for first night feed.... Zzzzz can't wait to be back in bed...currently trying to get up for them all. Feel like it's between having more poor quality uncomfy sleep if I take dd into bed - or less good quality sleep. Currently going for quality over quantity. Wish I could have both! But don't we all!

PenguinPoser · 28/04/2015 01:00

Lauren I stopped wearing bra at night as I thought it might be contributing to the thrush. I now have very fetching folded muslin down my top every night Grin

FizzyBubbly · 28/04/2015 01:14

RL hope you get things moving soon, it's surprising how the thought of doing a poo can be so scary

Quality sleep sounds great Penguin

Glad you're feeling refreshed too Lauren

Wish I could say the same, am wide awake and fuming inside. DD woke screaming as she'd lost her dummy an hour ago, then demanded (screamed) that she wanted milk, then screamed when I told her I'd have to change her nappy... I don't believe for one minute that DH didn't hear any of it, am sure he just lay there listening to me limping around the house where my SPDs got so bad. So all the screaming didn't wake him, but me shooing the cat off my side of the bed on my return did. It was only a few hours ago that he told me I needed to relax more if I wanted labour to start!!

Had such a nice labour inducing night - my first ever vindaloo followed by a whole pineapple, relaxing bath, then sex... went to sleep thinking 'this must do it' and now I'm laying here knowing that I'm going to be wide awake for the next hour or three.

daholster · 28/04/2015 01:43

Oh fizzy how annoying, men!!!

I should be asleep cos ds is... Sleeping downstairs... I've lost the remote though so getting up to turn to off doesn't feel inviting...

But he's asleep! Is it the infacol? Pretty sure ds has reflux. Hardly any sleep last 3 nights and whinging all day too now, I want my happy little baby back Sad he keeps getting laryngospasms too when feeding and sometimes in between times too, he can't breathe for a good 5-10secs, nothing in or out and then gets a little squeak of a breath in, head right back, then manages a bit more, then it's like it releases and he can take a huge breath, then he cries and cries and needs a cuddle Sad it must be scary for him. It's scary to watch! That's why I think reflux. It sometimes starts his lips going slightly purples but seems to sort itself so far Confused Thanks to those who have commented on fb about this, I will ask HV tomorrow too and get him weighed too to keep an eye though I have no worries at the moment with weight.

Right, he is still sleeping, we had a 12.45 feed. What's going on? Maybe infacol is at least helping with griping...? Don't want to speak to soon, it was on,y his second dose!

Good luck all labouring ladies and good luck too to all feeding ones!

Night night, I'll be back if I'm up...

Lauren82000 · 28/04/2015 01:55

Second feed now although no sleep for me inbetweenSad she sounds like a velociraptor when I put her in the basket. But if you lie her on the bed.., nothing.Confused Very annoying, glad I got those couple of hours in before though. Doesn't feel so bad tonight. Obviously the trick is to goto bed with DD1 at 7.30 and leave the minx with DH.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/04/2015 02:07

Sorry to hear your induction plans didn't work out fizzybubbly! And that you're uncomfortable. My dh would hear all of that but wouldn't think to get up as he wouldn't want to interfere!

I don't sleep in a bra but haven't had too many leaking moments. Only really leak for one side when Feeding from the other. Need to wear pants but otherwise that's it for bedtime clothes, but chilly when you first get up though!

As predicted he didn't go very long before first feed. But usually he has one side and I chmage him which wakes him enough for the other. Didn't wake enough so put him down, 20mins later was awake for the other. Asleep again so out him down again thinking I'd be back to sleep for at least a couple of hours but no 12 mins later awake and crying Sad ah well you win some you lose some.

Lauren82000 · 28/04/2015 02:21

I'm still up cinnamon DD currently snoozing on my chest. Should try putting her down again really but I'm comfy. Grin Just realised I've been rubbing her little ear since she last fed. It's so soft, I should have been rubbing her back to try and get any wind up oops.

FiRaffe · 28/04/2015 02:38

Hehe Lauren, I know that feeling - DS's ear is so small and soft and cute!

Was so shattered I have twice slept through him crying and only woken to DH dealing with him tonight. I can't believe i'm that tired but obviously I am. I feel awful for doing it and a bit scared I can. Hopefully it's because i'm happy DH will keep him safe

londonlivvy · 28/04/2015 02:50

ugh. DD has been awake since 1030pm, squealing, feeding and vomiting. excellent. I have baby puke in my hair, down my cleavage and I'm knackered.

sigh.

RL20 · 28/04/2015 02:53

Londonlivvy same here. DS has been awake for a few hours.

Lauren - exactly the same problem here!

I am just posting because of the relief that I have finally done a poo! Just got up to change DS nappy and felt like it was going to come out Shock so had to rush in and give him to OH for a minute. No doubt I'll go back in and he'll be asleep on his chest. He just won't settle in his Moses basket Sad.

brummagem · 28/04/2015 03:16

Has anyone caught up with Bear Grylls The Island? All this poo it's like the men and their poo crew Grin

My ability to wake up at 3am is uncanny atm. It's a daily occurrence! Bizarre. Other times are available and I'm not endorsing 3am in anyway.

The big 4-0 weeks today.

Lauren82000 · 28/04/2015 03:22

Yay for your poo RL, I bet it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. Wink

I've still got a grunty baby on my chest. Tried to put her down but it just didn't work. She sounds phlegmy like she's trying to clear her throat. Only time she doesn't do it is feeding or on my chest. Hmm only another 2 hours and I can hand her over to DH and get some sleep.

And I remembered about an hour ago that I forgot to take DD1 to her eye appointment this afternoon. Angry Going to have to ring them tomorrow and play the 'I've just had a baby your lucky I remember my own name' card. Blush

cowbiscuits · 28/04/2015 04:04

I've got a gorgeous baby boy, Leo, born at 7.45pm weighing 7lb 15oz.

Amazing water birth experience! Staff were fabulous. I asked for the pool and they warned me I might not be able to because of poor staffing, but they pulled strings and acquired an extra midwife. Being in the water was so fantastic it just eased everything. There was classical music playing and i was incredibly calm. Things moved quick and I somehow pushed him out in about three goes. Although he's left a trail of damage to my bits!

We had lots of skin to skin and he's been very calm and settled and took to feeding super quick. He's over a pound heavier than his brother was at birth.

All went a bit pear shaped briefly though as I lost quite a lot of blood so midwife pulled emergency buzzer and everyone appeared and sorted me out quick with IV fluids etc lovely doctor fixed me (was just the tearing wounds not internal bleeding). As a nurse I knew what was going on but was really calm because I could see they were a brilliant team.

And they are really busy but they've given me a bed bath and made me comfy. Still waiting to be moved to ward though as they're so busy.

PenguinPoser · 28/04/2015 04:04

Yay RL pleased it had happened bet you feel more comfortable for that.

Happy due date Brummagem!

Hope cowbiscuits and kismac are ok?!?

Feeling for everyone else who is up too. DD did settle for nearly 2h after I last put her down but it felt like my head just hit the pillow and she was up again!

Cross post cowbiscuits - congratulations!!

RL20 · 28/04/2015 04:11

No it wasn't Lauren! So relieved. Didn't have time to press a pad against bits or anything but thankfully it just felt like a normal poo. Probably thanks to lactulose!

Currently sat on floor in living room with a baby blanket over me rocking DS in his bouncer with vibration and tunes on willing him to go to sleep as he normally does in this. Seems like it's just actual night that he doesn't want to sleep - he looks wide awake Sad.
Don't know whether it's worth mentioning to the midwife later today or not. Or whether I'm just being silly thinking that I was going to get any sleep - he is only a week old today. Just scary that if I was to shut my eyes for a second, I would be asleep just like that.

Penguin yes lots more comfortable thanks!

I'm starting to dread the night time now - he is literally awake all night without a break. Is that even normal?!?!! Sad

RL20 · 28/04/2015 04:14

Congratulations cowbiscuits! Glad you had a nice experience! I did too, everyone was so lovely and made the whole experience so much better than I ever could imagine. Well done Thanks
