Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Gro egg pissing me off again. It's yellow at 19.5 but I think DDs basket is really cold despite the recommended attire and bedding. I'm wearing a cardy fgs. I've put an extra vest on her. Their torso should feel nice and toasty shouldn't it?

Lauren82000 · 23/04/2015 09:58

I've been going for warm but not toasty Chicken. Guess it's your best judgement my warm might be your toasty. Not that that helps you sorry.

Well the lovely pink outfit DD1 picked out with such care has already been sacrificed to the vomit gods. Must go find the bouncy chair and some more pink stuff from the loft. DH had a quick look for it but of course couldn't find it. Hmm

ChickenMe · 23/04/2015 10:01

My toasty would be like "ooh nice and warm". She was just lukewarm at the last wake up. Well hopefully one cotton vest won't cause over heating.

daholster · 23/04/2015 10:54

Ouch to the knee!!!

When do nipple tops stop feeling super thickly and sensitive so I can just get dressed and put a bra on without a second thought like other normal people please? Need to bloody well work myself up to it!!! Hmm

BrixtonBunny · 23/04/2015 10:57

Chicken I'm erring on the side of too cold rather than too hot as everyone has put the fear of god into me re: overheating. I figure that if she gets cold she'll let me know rather vocally!

brummagem · 23/04/2015 11:15

In absolute tears at the nursery bear doing the feeds comment. Star

Nothing much happening here. Marched dog round the park yesterday. Nothing. Bounced on ball so hard thought head might smack on ceiling. Nothing. Woke up at 3am with period and back pain had 2 waves of that about 4 mins apart thought yes! But nothing since. No!

I know at 39+2 he still has a few days spare etc but beginning to think maybe he thinks he should arrive April 2016 rather than 2015 Grin

daholster so pleased your feeding pains are disappearing! You've coped with so much during and after pregnancy and so well!

smogsville · 23/04/2015 11:31

Right boob feels like it's fizzing! Comedy milk drops came out of it after shower this morning. DH and I are out and about on hunt for an armchair for bedroom we are trying to get one on the cheap so if it gets covered in milk we won't care but starting to think it might be easier to just order one from JL/ loaf/ made and be done with it.

At least this trip has dovetailed nicely with a visit to the Italian deli for a pair of fat cannoli. I'm bloody starving.

BrixtonBunny · 23/04/2015 11:45

Smogs we have an ikea strandmon armchair which is not bad for feeding in, nice back support. Plus we have a footstool with it for extra comfort. From what I remember it was v reasonable. Though saying that I've never been disappointed with Made / JL and their customer service for sorting deliveries tends to be ace. I've also been getting the comedy milk drops from boobs Hmm

Daholster that's fab that yours are hurting a bit less! Virtual high five!

So glad it's a few years until we have to deal with things like nursery bear Wink

BrixtonBunny · 23/04/2015 11:50

Pressed send too soon.

Today we're planning on taking DD on her first proper outing that isn't to the shop / around the block / someone's house. Thinking of going to Dulwich Picture Gallery BUT my stitches definitely hurt more when I walk or stand. I figured I can't bum around the house forever though, and at least a gallery will mean an obligatory coffee and cake stop.

Really need to buy some breastfeeding tops / dresses as my current solution is to wear a dress with leggings and pull the dress up. Not sustainable!

ChickenMe · 23/04/2015 12:35

Oh yes I'm terrified of overheating Brixton but even the cat got under the covers this morning. I think it's mainly not putting woollens on them in bed and no duvets or ridiculous blankets. H&M is the place for BF tops if you haven't got any. Ah the Dulwich PG. (Used to live in Forest Hill). #cultured baby. Miss that sort of thing as now outside London. Extent of culture-the local rag n bone manConfused
I want the IKEA chair with footstool cos it's so much easier to feed with a straight back. Although lying down is good for when she's being fussy.
OH's first day back at work and I've just managed to eat some eggs..now for the shower..hmm.

FizzyBubbly · 23/04/2015 12:46

I'm bouncing/marching/trekking with you Brum!!

Hope everyone's boobs and nipples adjust to the constant feeding soon

40+0 today!!!

PenguinPoser · 23/04/2015 12:58

Daholster I'm almost at 6 weeks and still have to build up to putting my bra on - nipples v sensitive! Not sure our thrush has settled down completely yet.

Happy due date fizzy!

Haha at the nursery best doing the feeds - go for it Lauren!

I'm using gro bag swaddles that we used with DD in 2011 - are these now considered wrong? Can't believe things have changed so much in such short space of time. I don't know how I feel about the temp recommendations. First night back from hosp he was clearly freezing in our bedroom allegedly 20 degrees. I had him in vest, sleep suit, cotton hat and merino wool sleeping bag and it just wasn't enough so we boshed a blanket on top. Who knows quite frankly.

Brixton that chair is v nice isn't it. Will show DH. We have been after a bedroom armchair for a while (i say we, obviously he couldn't care less) so have now found one for 300 on made and might go for that. Naturally the colour we like is the only one not avail for express delivery Angry

Dulwich pic gall sounds idyllic. And yes get yourself some BF tops coffee and cake is what first time mat leave is all about!

DS just had a good focused 12 min feed and my right boob is back to normal Wink

Love the bear doing the night feeds.

Have an exhausted mummy and clingy baby here today. Am still in bed, thank god DH is here!!! I just don't know how i'm going to cope today

IvegotaCaveTroll · 23/04/2015 14:19

Getting up in the morning is the hardest thing Firaffe- let alone shower , make-up etc_ it must get easier! They must stop pooing a zillion times a day!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 23/04/2015 14:20

Photo the bear changing a nappy!

FiRaffe · 23/04/2015 14:24

Today is the first day that I have felt I can't cope, but i'm certain it'll be worse next week when DH goes back to work.

kismac · 23/04/2015 15:06

Think I might be staying in until the baby arrived. Decided to walk to supermarket 20 mins away and had such a sharp sore pain in my stomach/side that I couldn't move. Scared the crap out of me.

40+4

RL20 · 23/04/2015 16:14

Hope everyone's ok. Just coming on here to vent.....
First day back from hospital been back an hour and OH's mum is here and is PISSING ME OFF!!!! Confused crying faces arghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Jetpackplease · 23/04/2015 16:27

Such a flurry of babies since I last checked in! Massive congratulations to everyone who has popped in the last few days. I hope you're all recovering well and can enjoy the babies through the fug of exhaustion, feeding, nappies, hormones, etc.

My little boy arrived on Sunday afternoon. After 3 days of induction they finally broke my waters at 3am on Sunday. It all went well until the pushing stage where things got complicated once they realised he was in a bad position facing my left leg and wrong bit of head was presenting. Ended up with 2 failed ventouse and failed forceps and was almost taken to theatre before a final bit of intervention and effort got his head out. Then his shoulders got stuck! But we got him out eventually after 2.5 hours of pushing and pulling. As they'd already done an episiotomy, I was so glad we avoided EMCS too as I couldn't face the recovery from both Shock Although it all became a bit traumatic, the recovery has been good so far and so I would encourage anyone who, like me, dreaded the idea of an instrumental delivery, episiotomy, loads of doctors staring down your fanjo, etc, not to panic if it goes that way. You will be fine and you will recover!

Day 4 now and it's the first time I feel vaguely human. DH and I are taking it in shifts through the night, though obviously I have to do all the feeds. Establishing BF is such a minefield! Hats off to all of you going through it. I can't even say I've had massive problems so far, just that he is a bit of a nipple feeder so I struggle with the latch, but it's still exhausting and bloody painful. It's getting easier, gradually, and I know it is worth it.

Fortunately these babies are so damn beautiful, they get away with it Grin

Waving pom-poms for those of you waiting to hatch. It's a frustrating time. Not long to go, though!

kismac · 23/04/2015 16:31

Oh no RL, what's happening? If she's upsetting you then ask her to leave. It's your home and you need time to rest and bond with the baby.

Oh my Jet, that sounds really traumatic. I hope you and your little one are ok and recover quickly.

FiRaffe · 23/04/2015 16:43

Sorry to hear that RL. Hope things have improved by now.

Hope you recover quickly Jet. Glad you're feeling more human.

Jetpackplease · 23/04/2015 17:18

RL, can you escape to another room under the pretence of doing something for the baby?! Good luck - it's so hard when you just want your space with baby and OH. Some people know how to outstay their welcome and are just really bloody annoying

PenguinPoser · 23/04/2015 17:36

Congratulations jetpack pleased things are going ok.

RL you poor thing :( pointedly tell her you're tired etc and hopefully she'll take the cue to leave!
