Ooh annbag I forgot about the injections you have to do yourself after... One midwife told me I'd need them but then nothing was mentioned after the birth so I didn't bother reminding them! I'd have to get dh to do it too, though I imagine he'd struggle.

Lauramum23 · 15/04/2015 21:17

I'm not too bothered by needles I think I normally turn my head wh not goes in but I too quite like it when the vial fills with blood! Kind of forgot about all the blood tests! My proper booking in is on the 29th.

Lauramum23 · 15/04/2015 21:18

When it goes in- that should say!

CoffeeTwo · 15/04/2015 21:29

I had to do those clexane injections for 6 whole weeks last time :( my thighs were littered with bruises. Stingy bastards as well. Dreading doing that again.

AmandaMae · 15/04/2015 21:32

toots I think you can self certify for the first week, and then ask a doc for a note if you still can't return.

Before you go to see another GP, print off the NICE guidelines so you can wave them around if they start being stupid. I know fighting is probably the last thing you feel like doing - could your OH or a friend go with you and fight your corner?

Oh god annbag the steroid injections were really awful! I didn't see the needle but it hurt so much I swore at the person who gave it to me Blush.

Poppyninja · 15/04/2015 22:19

Do the sickness bands work?

Considering getting some as had near miss in work today. Felt decidedly sick during a training session but some q deep breathing and few mints later thankfully it passed without me looking rather bonkers having to run!

tootsroots · 15/04/2015 22:27

I had 2 hours of drips and got discharged so an v lucky! Work was a good distraction from bring a moaning Minnie !I am having issues with taking "sick leave" and feeling useless - I wfh now one day a week as my boss gets it but I was off for three months with a broken back years ago and bits since and just feel guilty--- need to get over it !

NoMoreSashimi · 15/04/2015 22:27

I've had the sickness bands for a few weeks now and I feel they really help. Still feeling the nausea but they take the edge off. It's a definite improvement, well worth it.

reb2g08 · 15/04/2015 22:30

Manama so sorry to read your update. X

Blue bananas know how you feel they took my blood from my arm then it stopped so from my other arm then from my hand! So I have 3 bruises and a bump to hide lol!

annatha · 15/04/2015 22:34

Glad you got a new gp toots, it helps knowing you've got a helpful one for when you need them. As for issues with sick leave, is it your employer causing issues? Because its illegal for them to discipline a women for pregnancy related sickness (mine tried last time... Tried!) So make sure you put your foot down as you and baby come first.

annatha · 15/04/2015 23:29

So the late night wees and gaviscon swigging have started...

TakesTwoToTango · 16/04/2015 02:19

Oh poor you annatha hope you manage to get some rest.

Lauramum23 · 16/04/2015 06:59

Annatha I swear I was up. 6 times the night before and coughing too as I have a manky chesty cough. Anyway last night I got up once yey! I had a decent nights sleep probably cos I was so tired!

roughtyping · 16/04/2015 08:11

Spent half the night awake last night. Kept thinking about the missing girl in glasgow; her remains have been found up the road from us Sad really awful news, my heart goes out to the family.

Have my scan today. Please send positive vibes...

ehealy · 16/04/2015 08:41

annatha · 16/04/2015 09:24

BlueBananas · 16/04/2015 09:29

Good luck today roughtyping

cryingbabymess · 16/04/2015 09:47

Roughtyping hope all goes well today! It's horrible what's happened to that poor girl. When I saw that they'd found remains my heart sank! Hmm

Stuff like that is happening all too often nowadays!

tootsroots · 16/04/2015 09:49

Positive vibes being sent Rough and to other scanning ladies.

thatduck · 16/04/2015 09:56

It all feels a bit more real now, I had my booking appointment yesterday (took an HR and a half)! Unfortunately I'm moving house in three weeks when I will be 10 weeks which only gives me 2 weeks to get re registered and booked for a scan :(
Do any of you ladies know anything about Aberdeen maternity hospital as thats where I will most likely give birth as I'm not low risk

cryingbabymess · 16/04/2015 10:01

Thatduck, I'll be giving birth at AMH too! I don't know anything about it as its baby #1 but not heard any stories from friends! My scan date took a couple of weeks to come through after my booking appt. where is it you're moving to? (I think I've asked before!)?Confused

newbian · 16/04/2015 10:04

Scan tomorrow for me! I'm abroad so I had one at seven weeks and saw the little heartbeat. After tomorrow's (about 11+3) if all goes well we will be telling our wider families. So far only our parents know.

I was so pleased I'd gotten through the nauseous period but since yesterday have developed the metallic taste in the mouth and waves of stomach upset that come and go. Oh, and headaches. If it's not one thing it's another!

annatha I'm up at least twice each night now. And (apologies for TMI) the volume of pee is astonishing! Where is it all coming from? Between 2 AM and 6 AM it's like I'd had three pints of cider (I wish!).

ChicBabyP · 16/04/2015 10:46

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on the thread for the last couple of weeks and been following everyone but not posting as i have a history of recurrent miscarriages so am always waiting till I'm further along before chatting...
I'm 10w and expecting twins!! and we already have a dd who will be just over 3 when they arrive so I'm in the same situation as you Guy! Had a scan this morning and they were waving and wriggling around which was lovely to see and very reassuring.

I'm so sorry for those who have miscarried, I unfortunately know that situation all too well, had many before I had dd.

And joining the discussion about needles, here's another phobic (although by now I've had so many that I'm kind of used to it). And I took Clexane injections until 37weeks while pg with dd! Am on them now again, but I doubt I'll have to continue after 1st tri is over...fx I can stop them, really hate them.

Hope you are all managing the nausea/headaches/boobpains/backaches etc... the fun never stops! Anyone itchy already? My back is a nightmare!
