Well I wrote a long message and it just disappeared Sad
I haven't read back, had a busy weekend so far.... It's not finished yet. Boy! Am I feeling it, my heart goes out to you ladies still doing the commute Flowers
Saw your kitchen/diner Broody just wow, there will be plenty of memories made in there. A great family room Grin
Saw talk of hormones too, I'm getting a break at the mo! When they play havoc I actually get annoyed at them (my hormones) is that even possible?! You lot will know what I mean, only a pregnant women can experience various emotions at on time, it's like having multiple personalities HmmConfusedGrin maybe that is just me Grin

Anyway, the weekend continues... I'm in my new car - Ford Focus - love it.

I'm going to read back now.
Have a wonderful Sunday ladies & babies Flowers

Had a skim-read Joy I hope I can be as organised, it is in my 'plan' ;)

MustBeLoopy390 · 19/04/2015 08:48

we pick up baby's Moses basket today Grin so excited!! Need to make sure I can remember where we got the mattress for it from last time. My mil bought it for her eldest (now 30) it's been used by (just about) every family baby and its still as good as new. Really need a cot mattress too Confused feeling quite disorganised as last time everything was done by 20 weeks (we lived with mil and she helped sort it all out 'just in case' bless her)

broodylicious · 19/04/2015 09:06

Haha great article jo. Although anyone who applies any type of make up in the first week pp is a superhero IMO. Taking it in a hospital bag is one thing but having energy or time to put it on is another matter WinkWink

Ha ha ha I agree, it's in my plan but do not know how I will feel, but in the plan. Mustbe John Lewis do very good mattress and provide good detail explanation on the various types. I am going for a pocket spring.

Forgot to mention who posted the pics of the lovely kitchen? Looks really nice, very jealous of the big kitchen space Grin xx

broodylicious · 19/04/2015 10:40

That's my kitchen joSmile thank you.

We also have a pocket sprung mattress for dd - it was mind boggling but we figured it was the right type for us. We'll get a new one for baby too. Mattresses are so expensive though, aren't they?!

MustBeLoopy390 · 19/04/2015 10:44

We had foam I think last time but if I remember it was brand new off amazon or eBay, must get measure the cot for a mattress too! Lol

jmojo · 19/04/2015 14:37

My choice of mattress here was Panamanian or American (literally) so I went American as they at least have laws governing quality and sids etc for their mattresses turns out it is an excellent mattress!! Smile Tried to get a british one at first from mothercare but they were too small for the cot I have been given (so it was no good)...and were sold out!

Lewaney3 · 19/04/2015 17:20

Hello ladies,

Just popping onto say I've just been to asda who have their baby event on... Picked up some blankets, Moses basket fitted sheets and nappy bins. :) They also had a good deal with 4 sleepsuits for £7 although we have all our clothes for now. :)

I went to see if the bumbos or similar were on sale... Sadly not!also how can I forget also got the perfect prep tommetippee machine for £60 down from £120 if anyone else was looking for it :)

Foraslut · 19/04/2015 18:03

Hello everyone don't know about you but I've had enough, roll on July. Mustbeloopy that sounds sweet about the handed down gear.

Zampa · 19/04/2015 20:28

I've had enough already too. Lower back is staying to ache due to PGP. However, I've slept well this weekend so feeling a bit chirpier.

Good bargains there Lew. May have to find my nearest Asda.

Genuine question (not supposed to sound judgey) but do babies need a pocket sprung mattress? As babies are relatively light, would a foam one not suffice? I like a sprung mattress but DP thinks it's unnecessary.

I am tempted by the organic mattresses too (lack of fumes).

broodylicious · 19/04/2015 20:39

Thanks for the reminder re asda lewaney. That's tomorrow activity sorted Wink

zampa, as with everything to do with dc and parenting, it is entirely up to you what to buy/doSmile

Also did a little outing to Asda today and picked up some bargain essentials, first time ever buying nappies, bags, cream, breast pads etc! Also a starter set of bottles and some formula (which I hope not to have to use- just in case the breastfeeding doesn't work out). Starting to feel more organised now, but the baby's stuff is gradually taking over every spare inch of our flat! Hope everyone's had a good weekend x

jmojo · 19/04/2015 21:46

zampa i have an organic pocket sprung mattress (as i said earlier it was the only decent option here in Panama) but it will last until toddler so saves spending on yet another mattress later on as it has 2 sides. A slightly softer toddler side and a water resistant firm baby side. I think I read on John Lewis that they recommend foam only until a year, I could be remembering that incorrectly as I did my research a while ago. I am getting a foam one for the moses basket tho.

Thepurplegiraffe · 19/04/2015 22:19

Zampa we had a foam mattress for the crib which we used until just under 6 months and then a pocket sprung for the cot bed which we are still using and will transfer to the toddler bed we are about to be given. It's a good thing we got a half decent mattress for the cot bed as dd loves to jump all over it.

Zampa · 19/04/2015 22:20

But broody I don't know what to buy!! It's very confusing! I haven't really been able to find any kind of guide to mattresses, unlike almost every other baby product out there.

Thanks for the details jmojo. Sounds like you've picked a good one!

Zampa · 19/04/2015 22:21

Thanks purple. We just have a straight up cot, so sounds like foam is an OK option for us.

Thepurplegiraffe · 19/04/2015 22:23

PS you lot are making me feel so disorganised. My purchases so far remain at 1 babygro and no immediate plans to sort anything else!

jmojo · 20/04/2015 01:19

zampa john Lewis have a mattress guide on their website. Not sure what you are looking for but it does explain the differences!

Naturegirl82 · 20/04/2015 06:13

purple same here. I've ordered the buggy board and bought 2 or 3 items of clothing and that's it. Nothing else being sorted until mid June as I will have no space to put anything until then!

smallgreenbanana · 20/04/2015 06:54

purple and nature Nothing much happened here either. Although a couple of friends and family have now offered various hand-me-downs, which has taken some of the stress out of things. Did order some wall stickers and a black out blind though! Car seat is top of my list at the moment. DH's family horrified we are so disorganised, but then they will probably be horrified that I'm planning on painting the nursery light blue for a girl. People are funny with their opinions about what you should do!

LaLaLaaaa · 20/04/2015 07:44

Hi everyone!

Went to baby show yesterday but it was all independent businesses, not many of the big names. So not as many bargains as I'd hoped (and no monitors - at a baby show?). Bought an infant insert for the ergo carrier for £10 which I needed.

I did get a cabriofix car seat at halfords for £90 though (ex display).

Mattresses! If it's for a cot bed and needs to last long time them pocket springs hold shape longer than foam and are more breathable. The following two websites have good deals:

babymattressesonline.co.uk/

www.amazon.co.uk/Comfort-Kids-Mattress-Shipping-Mainland/dp/B0089A7EFC/ref=cm_sw_em_r_awdocod_tQ8ivb0KYADZM_tt

I got very confused about PVC layer versus organic versus hypoallergenic etc so asked around. Basically of you or dp have allergies then you might want to get an allergy friendly one. PVC helps with accidents but apparently gets sweaty and hot in summer.

I'm going to get normal one and get PVC cover to put on for when needed.

Need to get monitor still and I'm fed up trying to work out what the difference is, particularly between angelcare ones! I think I'm getting the one that's around £90.

Zampa · 20/04/2015 07:53

You are absolute stars Lala and jmojo. That's really helpful. Thank you. Smile

smallgreenbanana · 20/04/2015 08:34

Is anyone getting or have experience of baby monitors with video? My feeling is it is a bit odd, but maybe I've overlooked something really useful that it adds. We need one that will get through from the loft to the bottom floor too.
