The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

Evening all,

Its just taken me 45 in to catch up and I think we are going to need another thread soon as well!!

Am definitely in full on nesting mode, in fact it is me that is starting the DIY projects!!

Made DH re-arrange the lounge to make it more baby proof and we bought the flooring for the toilet and kitchen at the weekend, have been seriously debating seeing how much I can lay while DH at work and DD at school...

If we get the toilet flooring down, that will be the only completely finished room in the house.. tra la la

Am just hoping that DH has another huge go at the sanding in the hallway this weekend as I dont really fancy him doing that once bump arrives.

Have also been spending money "opps" have bought the doomoo baby chair thing and the buddy www.doomoo.be if you want to take a look.

A few bits if wrapping still to do but Xmas shopping is done as well as DD's stocking "thank god"

Have printed off the address labels for the Xmas Cards so now I just need to sit down and start writing the damn things

weirdbird · 20/11/2006 21:00

Ohh and I do envy you all stopping work, I will be working as long as I am physically here and able.

Dec / Jan are my busiest time of year work wise and I can't afford to stop.

But I am sure you will get me on here moaning all about it when it happens...

"Hugs" to those who no longer have there mums/dads, my mum is miles away (3hrs drive) but she is still on the end of the phone.

Olihan · 20/11/2006 21:49

Pregnancy brain has well and truly kicked in, I've seen about 15 things on today's posts that I was going to reply to and can't remember many of them now!

Calsworld, I had 5 sweeps with dd and none of them put me into labour, I was induced at 12 days over in the end. I think if you're ready to go then it might work but the statistics I was quoted were 50% of women go intolabour within 24 hours of a sweep. Not great odds really!

Anna, I was only thinking as I was rading today's epic that I hadn't seen Lucy around for a while. Thanks for keeping us posted!

Satin, thanks for the EDD, will add you to the list, and Mardybum.

Can't believe we could have another 2 babies on the thread by Friday, I have done no preparation except buy maternity pads and newborn nappies so far. I think I'm in denial! If I think about everything I need to get done between now and Christmas I start panicking and instantly find something else to do so I don't have to think about it, great way to deal with it .

Whatever else I was going to say has gone from my head so I'm going to have an earlyish night - see you all in the morning!

babypowder · 20/11/2006 22:17

My lovely midwife phoned tonight with a revised C-section date - it now looks as though my LO will be arriving on 20th December. Yippee!!

EEK - must get organised ...

accessorizequeen · 20/11/2006 22:19

Sorry, I just cannot keep up with you all, finished work Thursday, dad & sis here until this evening & birthday tomorrow! No time to lurk on mn, but did catch Eli's post about help with b/feeding - very interested in all of that Eli as I had major probs too (flat/inverted nipples were the issue). Wld so love to do it for longer & more easily (not to mention in public!) this time as ono lasted 10 wks last time.
If I haven't welcomed newbies who've been posting since I was last on, hello!!!
Went to m/w today at 36+2, they're not going to see me again until 4 days before due date as too busy. Does this seem reasonable, thought it was important to be seen every week from now on?

accessorizequeen · 20/11/2006 22:24

Calsworld, didn't think sweeps generally done until after due date but could be wrong? I did think fairly natural way of encouraging labour to start - quite different from induction. They're going to give me one if I go 11 days over (I asked for as long as poss before intervention as induced last time). If they're not explaining why, then you've no reason to agree to it! Really think medical staff treat pg women as though we're sheep sometimes, expect us to just blindly follow orders!

fortyplus · 20/11/2006 22:25

This is a hijack - sorry! But someone has started a media thread re: Mums with an internet gambling habit.
This seems SO unlikely for MN that I reckon it needs some posts...

satinshoes · 20/11/2006 22:27

VM - sorry about the rat post - no mention of sick when i originally posted it.

Some babies might be here this week - wow!

I am boiling hot, feeling like a big fed up lump. Normally shattered by now but not much inclination to go to bed at the mo. Dont know what to do with myself.

Although DH just showed me this game - good for anyone who doesnt like sprouts and has time to kill

To those without mums/dads, it must be very hard. I am estranged from my mum and it is very hard especially knowing that i could change it if i want to (v. unlikely - long story) but it must be worse for you as you have no choice. ((((Hugs)))

Olihan · 20/11/2006 22:49

Ooh, babypowder, I wonder if you'll be the first of all the Boxing Day girls to have your little one then!

I'm having a growth scan on Thurs as baby seems to be enormous so half of me is hoping they'll want to whisk me in for induction around 39 weeks, the other part is SO not prepared to be a mum to 3 under 3 that I want to go to 42 weeks again and put off the reality for a bit longer. It would just be nice to have a definite date this time, rater than all the waiting around, especially with having to sort childcare for ds and dd when I do go into labour.

Is anyone else having a section? I've redone the due dates list ready for the start of the new thread, which I thought we could leave until Eli has her cs as it's only a few days away now - how are you feeling about it Eli? Are you prepared or living in blissful denial?

Magnolia, do you know the date for yours yet, so I can move you up the list?!

weirdbird · 20/11/2006 23:11

So glad I am not the only one who can't keep up, or reads all the posts and then forgets everything they where going to say and just can't go back to check.

at the organised types who keep note!

Everything is now clean (spot the wrinkley fingers!) so I can go to bed happy, did resist the urge to mop the kitchen floor, but it is swept....

Wish I could be this keen on cleaning when I wasn't pregnant!

weirdbird · 20/11/2006 23:13

Ohh and the Rat post whoever posted the link was hilarious, especially peoples indignation that she should keep rats and then ask there advice..

Though personally urck on the whole thing

jabberwocky · 21/11/2006 02:19

Just managed to catch up. I'm so sorry for all of you without your mums. I can't imagine what it must be like.

OB gave me a note for reduced hours today, thank goodness. It was the first time in months that she has seen me in the afternoon. There's quite a difference in my bp and swelling between morning and afternoon.

She looked at my bump and said "Goodness you must be incredibly uncomfortable!" Uh, yeah, you could say that

VanillaMilkshake · 21/11/2006 09:03

Morning All,

I feel crap today - have thrown up after brushing teeth too vigerously (family trip to the dentist this afternoon)

Had awful nights sleep - worst yet, pelvis just ached from bedtime through to about 4am. Got up at one point for a wee and had to sit back down as there was some pressure on my lower back and bum that made standing really hurt. What's going on. And whoever was asking about period pains last week as I have had those all night too!

So I am now siting here munching on DDs pack of M&S Gingerbread men, instead of brekkie, in the hope that the ginger stops me feeling sick

Apart from that and my cold - which we also all have - we share everything - I feel great!

castlesintheair · 21/11/2006 09:06

Pleased to hear it Jabber. Take it easy

Is anyone else buying a present for their DC(s) from the new baby? If so, what are you getting?

Just off to docs with DS who has been up all night with suspected ear infection and DD who probably has the same infection but has manifested itself in her cute little derrière . Of course, they are both leaping about the place full of beans now it's daylight. This is excellent practice for the long lonely nights ahead ...

VanillaMilkshake · 21/11/2006 09:13

Hi Castles, yes to the present thing. DD has got a comforter (a spotty and silky one) for bump, and bump has bought DD a small £5 Dora playset, Thomas DVD (to entertain her while I am feeding) and some Thomas slipper socks. Very good shopper for one so very young dont you think

BTW, forgot to mention at MW apt yesterday - who I will see weekly now till birth, AQ - why are'nt you being offered this at the very least?? Sorry - sidetracked - MW said I could try to bring on labour now if I wanted (will be 38 wks on Saturday) and said orgasms were good and it did'nt matter how I got them whether DH was involved or not!! I did'nt know where to look. If it had been my normal MW who I had for DD, would'nt have been embarassing at all, but she's on holiday and from this one is just sounded all too .....rude and sordid

Calmriver · 21/11/2006 09:37

Im thinking of getting a phil and Teds Tandem, and I was just wondering if the baby part at the back can lie down completely or not.??Anyone know??? I just think baby's should be able to lie flat.

judemum · 21/11/2006 09:51

Calm- sorry I don;t know the answer to that...
AQ- we must have the same birthday as its my birthday today too!
BP- are writing down your recipe- not going to post mine as its much more boring sounding than yours!
Yes, also big hugs to those whose mums are not here. I lean on mine so much (enev though she lives across the pond AND has forgotten my birthday ). MY BF lost her mum (who also looked after me a lot when we were little) to breast cancer about 4 years ago and it was incredibly hard for her when she had her baby in March this year.
And, yes we have got a present from DS1 to DS2- a tiny little cot toy thing (he chose the worst one of the lot!) and from DS2 to DS1 a play house fire staion thing, which I think he'll love...just need to remember to try and take all this stuff to the hospital!

Beaker123 · 21/11/2006 09:57

Happy Birthday, judemum! Hope you're taking it easy today! Are you American/Canadian by any chance (owing to your mum being "across the pond"). I spent most of my childhood in Canada and a bit of time in America as my dad had a job that involved a lot of travel. I loved it. Though now it's hard to imagine being in one place for a long time!

Slept quite well last night which was great. I'm in full on nesting mode though. Have washed all lo's nappies this morning and have sorted the nursery some more. Am going to bake something today, too. Like maybe that chocolate pudding. Good excuse to buy even more G&B chocolate!

judemum · 21/11/2006 10:05

Thanks Beaker. Nope- we're English but have travelled all my life and mum and dad now live in West Indies trying to recapture their hippy youth by mediating/doing yoga and eating "from the earth". They're great though-love 'em to bits- although the constant stories about their great sex life make we want to barf... (Dad: "yes, we stayed in this hotel which had satin sheets. Quite nicem but very hard to get a goods grip on your mother..." Me: "bleurgh...").

Jealous of you- also want to go home and cook that steamed cake and nest... Someone said earlier that they wanted to mop their kitchen floor- I am embarrassed to say that I may be bordering on fantasising about this, as dreamt about using entire bottle of dettol on it and scrubbing for hours and felt really happy in my dream...!!! ohhhh!!!

magnolia1 · 21/11/2006 10:09

at your parents Judemum. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO XXXXXX

Olihan, my c section date is 7th December but I am going to see he consultant this Thursday and will beg them to bring it forward by a week!!!

Vanilla, I have had tthe exact same kind of pelvic pain and period pains too. Not sure if the 2 are related or just the body getting ready?

Doing nothing today apart from some ironing and Ebaying

Beaker123 · 21/11/2006 10:18

That's very funny, Judemum! But also crosses the TMI line with your parents! My dh has grand plans to go to the West Indies for some cricket nonsense in March. I think not!

No real pain here just getting hugely uncomfortable. BHs frequently - like at least a couple of times a day but nothing too bad as of yet.

castlesintheair · 21/11/2006 10:24

Ewwwwww, gross Judemum Happy Birthday!

VMS, I was like you are today (& last night) last week except I also thought I was leaking amniotic fluid. But it stopped. I think it is things "hotting up". Now DCs are crook it's taken my mind off my own ailments. Don't recommend it though.

satinshoes · 21/11/2006 11:22

castles. the bump has bought DD a hobby horse. we got it from an old fashioned toy shop in the summer. DH plans to take DD out to get bump a present when it is born so she gets to pick it.

weirdbird · 21/11/2006 12:25

judemum - It was me and the cleaning and yep it does make me more happy than it should do!

My DD has also bought bump a present for when its born and also one for Xmas (as the baby WILL be here by then...) DD picked out a comforter toy thing for when baby is born and a set of clothes for Xmas. Bump has bought DD a book and a Big Sister T-shirt.

spinasnowflake · 21/11/2006 12:25

AQ and Judemum, Happy Birthday,girls!!

Judemum,I almost chocked laughing and went into labour reading about your parents! My poor DS was asking what's so funny? My dad is a bit honest about sex (or the prospect of it if he gets himself a woman!) but I try to switch off to the fact it's my dad speaking. He doesn't talk to my brother and sister about that sort of stuff.

I posted last night but it got swallowed up by gremlins and I was too tired to re post. DS1 is suffering with a cold at mo and we forgot to dose him up on cold meds which we only bother with at night time so he can sleep without snot! So just as I was going to bed, he started crying and was "not himself" at all. He ended up sleeping in my bed(with his foot in my ear all night) and DH ended up in spare room(again)

I haven't got DS1 a present yet from Bean. Want to get him something he'll love and that's special. However with Xmas and my ILS insistance in flooding our house with at least seven presents for DS it's going to be difficult to find something wow! He's already getting a globe(currently obsessed!) and a CD player for stories in his room for Xmas. (Guess who's planning to introduce quiet time now that he's a big boy who doesn't do naps and hasn't for months!Well mummy and Beanie will be trying to do naps when I've had a bad night!)

Packed my hospital bag(again) yesterday but don't feel satisfied by it. If Bean turns up earler than DS1 he'll be swimming in the clothes I've got with me! DS was straight into 0-3mths stuff. think I need to buy a few proper newbie things.I can always leave them in the packs and bring them back if he's as late as I expect he will be!

In fact generally, I'm feeling a bit let down by the clothes I've got. Everyone has being saying to me(ie MIL) that I've got too many clothes and won't need to buy anything, but when you actually try to find a few vests and sleepsuits to bring to hospital I've got hardly any really the correct size. I've also bought a few NEW things for DS22B so that at least for his coming home photos I'll be able to work out which son it is!!
