The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

noticed a mention of raspberry leaf tea. anyone taking it? have experience of taking it? wondering whether to bother or not.

Calmriver · 14/11/2006 13:06

Wb- I know what you mean about Evil dreams...I have had them too. I woke up feeling really disturbed a few nights ago...not nice at all. It's amazing how they take it out of you.

I have managed to catch up on a little sleep this mid-morning, but I have to toss constantly to relieve my hip ache. There is nothing big enough to stick between my knees at the moment.(that sounds really bad I know), but I'm talking pillows!!! I would do rasberry leaf tea too, but I'm sure mine'll be here very soon. Also, she is only just over 4lbs now and I am 36 weeks. If I don't go into labour before, she'll be here in about 10 days! DH is getting so excited!

I wonder who will pop this week.?

judemum · 14/11/2006 13:19

Tin- I have started taking Raspeberry Leaf- not sure how much good it does, but there is a seperate thread on this somewhere at the moment, as some people seem to really swear by it. I personally don't mind the taste, but I think a lot of people find it pretty yucky.

annaspanner · 14/11/2006 13:26

OMG Does Raspberry tea hurry things up? I thought it just strengthened the uterus and made the birth easier. I'm 37 weeks and have been taking it for a week but I'm not ready for the baby yet! Can you spot the first timer? Don't get me wrong, I've had enough of pregnancy but I'm still not ready for the next bit. You all sound so keen-you must think I'm bonkers!

annaspanner · 14/11/2006 13:34

Thanks Judemum, just found the thread ( here ). They seem to think that raspberry leaf doesn't start everything off...but reflexology can. I have my first session tonite. oops!

castlesintheair · 14/11/2006 13:43

I don't think it sets off labour just tones everything up like you say, Anna, in preparation. There is a spot on your foot near toes that if pressed can (allegedly) bring on labour, so watch out! There's also another spot that encourages babies to turn apparently ...

Loulou000 · 14/11/2006 14:52

Hello everyone! Am lady of leisure as of this week. So of course I have a stinking cold now.

Amelie! Hmm... very nice name. Think I will add that one to the list. Maybe we will end up with several Amelies between us.

Yes Elibean it was me that got the gecko the other day. I haven't even attempted putting it together yet, though. I think that's a DP job (horribly sexist of me but he's good at that sort of thing).

Oh no Magnolia what bad news. I am not looking forward to my still-likely CS but having a GA must be scarier for you. Do you get another scan or is that decision made once and for all now?

I have noticed no more constipation too! But still have six weeks until due date and 2 until section, so hope nothing is TOO imminent!

babypowder · 14/11/2006 15:04

OMG, its been ages since I've been able to post anything - work has gone completely doolally!
Big hugs to Magnolia.
And VM - a show is pretty exciting!
Found out today that I haven't been sensitised and in fact I need anti-D. 4 weeks ago the Blood Transfusion unit were telling me that I was definitely sensitised and had to have fortnightly blood tests and scans to check foetal anemia. Suddenly I'm not sensitised, no chance of the baby being impacted, and I have to get my a**e into the unit for anti-D. Confused? You bet. Mostly, I'm really at the moment, cos we've been really worried about how I could have been sensitised, what impact it would have on the baby, etc.
Still, should be and relieved - it'll come!

Calmriver · 14/11/2006 15:05

They all used to be done GA. My mom had 2 with us! Oh, I know this sounds crazy, but one of the things I am dreading most of the section this time is the fasting for 12 hours before...how greedy do I sound!!!???

I was de-hydrated for 2 days and starved by the hospital with DD1. They kept telling me Nil by mouth, and then emergencies would come in and I had to start again...the buggers! Needless to say I had blood pressure issues during the op!

They must DARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will kick some tush!

Calmriver · 14/11/2006 15:10

Do any of you feel like your baby is in your bum???Especially when walking long distances? Mind you saying that mine feels like that now just sitting here...oooh! To poo or not to poo???

These posts will start getting VERY dignified!

judemum · 14/11/2006 15:33

Calm- I sort of know what you mean. I did have issues with feeling an alarming bulging feeling every time I went for a number 2, but it seems to have calmed down a bit now. Just had a nice long chat with my mum as for some reason starting to panic that this baby is going to come very quickly and am not going to have time to sort myself out and get to the hospital. Anyway, she has counselled me and the plan of action is to pack DS1 a bag and take his travel cot etc to his childminders and leave it there, get myself packing my own hospital bag and make sure i know the location of all local hospitals, as the one I am booked into (Harrogate) is not necessarilly the closest. feel better now, if a little neurotic!

judemum · 14/11/2006 15:34

PS has everyone else already packed hospital bags?? It seems a bit early to me, but I am fretting now, so am going to do it.

castlesintheair · 14/11/2006 15:46

Judemum, not neurotic, I know what you mean! I spent final 4 weeks or so of last pg panicking about what would happen to DS if I went into labour. MIL (who was looking after DS at our home) was abroad until 2 days before due date so I wasn't comfortable until she turned up night before I went into hospital. Am pleased to say I got a text from her last night saying she's back in the country again. She effing well better stay put 'cos I could now be leaking fluid, along with cramps, back-ache. Eeeeeek!

Haven't packed hospital bag but have written a list

Loulou000 · 14/11/2006 15:51

I haven't yet, Judemum, but keep thinking I should do so soon. The amount of time I spend worrying about it, I might as well just get it done and have done with it.

Loulou000 · 14/11/2006 15:52

I've just ordered a changing mat and a swaddling robe from Jojo. Is there no end to the things I keep discovering that I desperately need?

tinshoes · 14/11/2006 16:12

hi all

just got back from midwife. 36 wk appt. Head is nice and low down. They said it might not even engage until labour so i shouldnt expect it to. Everything fine and I dont see them again until 38 weeks.

judemum i have packed my bag, but only because dd1 came early and the optimistic side of me hopes this one will to

castlesintheair · 14/11/2006 16:19

Oooh, what's a swaddling robe LouLou?

judemum · 14/11/2006 16:24

Tin- that's what they said to me re. the head. That its down low etc but may not engage until labour. Thats probably why I can feel him bouncing around on my cervix, because its not "fixed" like it gets when its engaged.

Calmriver · 14/11/2006 17:09

My baby has engaged- 2 weeks ago for the second time. Remember she was about 6 weeks ago, and they said she popped herself back out. This time she will stay there as she is too low to move much.

I have been told and read, 36 weeks is full term and you should have your bags ready and waiting.

tinshoes · 14/11/2006 17:29

just a thought. i am due 13th Dec. If I go overdue they arent going to induce on xmas day or boxing day are they, so would they do it before xmas? Or after which would be 14 days +

Loulou000 · 14/11/2006 18:15

Castles, it's just a blanket with velcro for easy swaddling: look

Elibean · 14/11/2006 18:28

Wow, its all happening - I can feel the excitement pouring off the computer screen reading the posts today (or is it just mine?!)

VM, I've been itching to some degree since about 31 weeks, but badly since about 33-34. Last night I got four hours sleep in all, mostly due to itching Is yours all over? Look out for itchy palms/soles - mine do, but not most, and I've been checked and re-checked for OC. I'm taking Piriton at night, and OB suggested menthol calamine lotion (yeah right, if I could find some - but have found menthol aqueous cream).

Saw OB today, bp is on the rise...am to keep taking it at home, and go in to unit on friday for extra check. Also told to pack bags and put my feet up: first one in case I have to be admitted to go on meds/get baby out earlier than planned, second in case it helps prevent former. Feels familiar...

My main worry is postpartum: last time I ended up readmitted for five days after going home for 24 hours, would hate that with dd but we're going to attempt home-treatment plan, where I take my bp lots and plot graph, and medicate self the minute it goes over certain level. Bit scary, tbh.

Otherwise, still on course for next Friday - booked in for 9am slot. Bump still firmly tranny, with feet doubled up near cervix for extra comfort and back at top. Someone is going to have to stick their hand in cut and turn her to get her out

All in all, am SO excited...nervous..excited...

Elibean · 14/11/2006 18:29

tinshoes, depends on lots of factors but overall I'd guess before.....though I have friends who were induced on Xmas eve!

Elibean · 14/11/2006 18:31

Calm, I understand the food thing - am so hoping not to get bumped, 'cos have to starve from midnight night before Worst thing is longing for a cup of tea....

Loulou000 · 14/11/2006 18:49

You have to starve for a section??
