Hi Chelle, Welcome.

Eli, pls be careful - we not having much luck as a group when we go shopping are. I nearly passed out in costco today - only thing that kept me going was a can of Pepsi from the vending machine.

Who said about shortening names?? DD's name was picked as we liked the long and short - although long rarley gets used. And if we have another DD Amelia will be shortend to Mia. (as in The Princess Diaries)

MW came round yesterday to discuss the HB and after she left I ended up in tears as DH is worried something will go wrong or he'll miss the birth as he;ll be seeing to DD. So I finally admited to him .....and myself that the main reason I want an HB is because I dont want DD being farmed out to friends and not understanding why and being away from her own environment etc, she is precious to me at the moment, every cuddle is amazing. So, anyway, after many tears and cuddles from DD, I have sucked up my pride and asked my MIL to come stay from 39 weeks .

DH has promised to back me up and speak out if his DM does anything that is not part of our routine - except spoiling DD when we are out - as she will apprecaite that and it will make her feel special.

castlesintheair · 12/11/2006 20:11

Evenin' all.

Yes, I'm bursting for the loo every 20 minutes and then produce a wee trickle . LO is about to burst out from just under my norks, it's so effing painful. Eli, you know what I mean Sorry to hear about your fall, it's easily done. Hope you are ok.

I've had loads of sleep this weekend thanks to my DH . Still feel like I'm 101 though.

Welcome Chelle. I'm due 6th December too!

Anyone heard from Magnolia or Olihan? They have gone quiet haven't they? Wonder if they have produced???

VanillaMilkshake · 12/11/2006 20:24

Ooh forgot to mention with regards to the whole inducing labour thing. Bought a huge fresh pineapple today and consumed a quarter of it in record time! Doubt it'll work though, even so it was delicious

spinamum · 12/11/2006 22:35

I've got four tins of papyaya in the cupboard for induction of labour purposes!

VM, you brave woman inviting MIL over from 39 weeks. I couldn't do it. My MIL's lovely but TOO lovely and I need my space. Respect woman!

Sometime between now and Bubs arrival we're having a new ceiling put into our/his room. So despite the fact his cot's set up and all his baby gear is waiting for him I have to un-nest and clear the room. Guess when my LO will put in an appearance! I've already spotted a cardboard(don't laugh!) fold up crib in Mothercare so if the worst comes to worst, LO will be in cardboard box next to Xmas tree with DH and I sharing DS's ready bed(cos our (new) sofas are unsleepable upon!) next to him in living room! All we need is the donkey and three wise men and it'll be the most Chrissmassy we've ever been!

Sorry to hear about your fall,Eli. I really feel pg has given me an insight into being elderly too.

Welcome chelle!

DublinD,hope you're feeling better!

I wonder if we do have some more babies among us. As one of the least pg among us, even I'm getting (nearly) to the stage when I could feasably go so we're bound to have some more soon.

tinshoes · 13/11/2006 08:23

is anyone else getting really bad lower back pain?

I had it very bad on saturday and had braxton hicks every 20 mins or so but then they went away. i've woken up with very bad backache again....??

Gloria42 · 13/11/2006 09:25

I have really bad hips during the night (although not sure you meant that low!) can only lie on one side for about 10 mins then have to change - and with pillow between my legs, one under the bump etc, this is a military operation!

magnolia1 · 13/11/2006 09:47

Hi Ladies
No I haven't had him yet and tbh have had an awful week
Welcome newbies and sorry everyone that I have been a bit quiet, just a lot to take in.

Saw consultant and had another scan on Thursday. Placenta is still completely in the way and in a bit of a bad position for a c section. SO....They have booked me in for a section on 7th December BUT........ Want me to have a GA and not a spinal/epidural. This means Dh can't be with me and they explained they want it this way coz it's a high risk c section and don't want me awake or Dh in the room as it's likely to get messy
So now I have just over 3 weeks of bloody shitting myself!!!!!! Dh is also worried and I want to dissapear for 3 weeks
Spd is bloody agony so it's hard to keep busy and take my mind off things. Physio can't do anything. The belt doesn't help and I just can't do 4 kids and 2 dogs on crutches

Anyway rant over.

castlesintheair · 13/11/2006 09:48

Wanted to ask any fellow trannies (Eli, others, can't remember who else?) do you know what it's like to go into labour? Is it like a normal headdown or breech labour? Pain getting quite bad now and BH. A friend who just had a baby said she didn't break waters or have show just went into 2/3 min apart contractions. Not panicking ... yet ... just wondering?!

Tinshoes, backache is normal at this stage. BH normal too, mine are very noticeable. If you have any concerns, ring your m/w though. Gloria, I can only lie on one side and have to get up every half an hour. We are near the end now and it does get quite uncomfortable but not long to go

Gloria42 · 13/11/2006 09:53

Castles, i feel like i have FOREVER to go! Am only 34 weeks tomorrow, can't imagine what size i will be by the end - larger than an elephant probably!

castlesintheair · 13/11/2006 09:54

Oh Magnolia, you poor thing (((hugs))) Was wondering what had happened to you I'm not surprised you are sh***ing yourself about a GA. Rant away! Can't they do it sooner than 7th esp with the spd? I was in tears at the w/e about my (hopefully) planned c/s under a local. The thought of what they do is so 'orrible isn't it? It gets worse with each one for me. I'm trying not to think about it but it's so effing hard.

jabberwocky · 13/11/2006 10:23

Oh, magnolia, I'm so sorry! I've been panicking about my section ever since talking to the anesthesia nurse,(they "prefer" spinals) can't imagine what you must be going through.

Am up at 4:00 am. I actually woke up b/c my arm was really sore deep in the armpit. Thought I slept wrong, then felt a bump, started thinking of Debra Winger in that movie with Shirley Maclaine where she has cancer and thoroughly scared myself After I quick google, looks like it's probably just an infected sweat gland.

AQ and spina, you do make me feel better about not having a lovely nursery all set for babe

VanillaMilkshake · 13/11/2006 10:32

Magnolia, I am so sorry to hear of your situation. Try to keep calms for bubs sake - easier said than done I know. Thnking of you ((hugs)).

And sharing of virtual carrot cake for all, which we also got yesterday along with the enormous pineapple!

SIL phoned last night and told her of the pineapple. She said lavendar worked for her, after being told about it by a friend, and she said boots do a pregnancy lavendar muscle soak..... Am now in two minds I want baby to get here soon, but no too soon as I already explained about DD etc.

Have been making the most of her being at pre-school this morning and disposing of all the oldest tubs of playdough (we had 15+) as well as ready mixed paints. Decided the little pallets of water colours are much easier to get out and tidy away. Also chucked out loads of colouring books and DD's artwork (yes I did feel guilty, but there's only so much you can keep - and I am recycling it). Am pleased as I have managed to make loads of room - in preperation for Christmas and all the baby toys coming back out.

calsworld · 13/11/2006 11:26

Magnolia, sorry to hear your news, not what anyone would hope for, I guess the only positive is that they are doing everything they can to ensure LO and you are well looked after and safe.((HUGS)) and sympathy....

Today is my first real day of maternity leave and I'm very relieved, I was really starting to struggle with tiredness...in fact, after doing the regular waking up thing all through the night, I'm now finding it really hard to get up - was going to ask your advice, but when made it out of bed (about 10 minutes ago) - I've had a letter through the door from the docs telling me my blood tests last week show I'm low in iron and enclosing a prescription - which probably explains everything. Hopefully when I start taking them, I'll actually be able to get on and do some of the marathon tidying and then cleaning that needs doing before LO arrives....not that I'm counting but only 18 days to due date!!!

BH have only just started for me, at least I think its what it is, my tummy kind of feels tight, but doesn't really hurt and I feel like my lungs are being squashed, almost as if someone is sitting on my tummy / chest - does this sound right? They have only been going since last Thurs and always start around 5.00pm?

Speak soon - C

Elibean · 13/11/2006 11:39

((Magnolia)) I saw your other thread, I'm so sorry you have all that to deal with...as if spd wasn't enough, hey. I'd be scared too - I know I was when there was a possibility of my going through the same thing, and the OB saying 'don't worry, we'll have plenty of blood standing by and we've done it all many times before' didnt' really help much. A bit, but not much. I hope you have a medical team you trust and feel good about, at least - that can make such a difference.

Castles, I was wondering exactly the same thing! Never went into labour with dd, but as I've been told to get to hospital fast if I go into labour this time, I can't help wondering if I'd know.... Expect I would. Bump is occasionally oblique or breech, and sometimes I get low down pains and an 'engaged' feeling which has to be a foot or something - because her head is under my ribs; I did start a thread about this on the childbirth (or pg?? can't remember ) section, but no tranny labours described so far...

Calsworld, sorry you're feeling so tired - I felt a lot better once I had some iron, hope you do too!

Oh, and re backache - I have it low down now too, but its definitely skeletal as opposed to contractions. Feels like my sacrum is crumbling under the weight...don't think the fall helped either! Thanks for the concern and sympathy, btw, feeling much better today and bump v. active...

jabberwocky · 13/11/2006 11:55

Eli, just a note about heads under ribs. If your lo has spent a lot of time there her head may come out looking like ds's. His poor little head was so pointed on the back that it would constantly roll to the side. We did a lot of positional therapy early on to round it out and thereby avoided helmet therapy. Seems the ribs prohibit growth to the side and therefore you get these long, skinny heads (in the horizontal meridian). It's actually called scaphiocephaly and I believe exclusive to breech babies.

judemum · 13/11/2006 12:13

Hi everyone. Can't keep up with all the posts pver the weekend! Magnolia- I really feel for you((((())))). All will be fine, I am sure of it.

I can sympathise with all the posts about aching/sleeping/painful BH/low iron. I think we're generally just all getting bloody uncomfortable.

I did have a lovely weekend though and ended with DH telling me last night that hes taking me away to a country hotel next weekend for my birthday. Am so excited, despite not being able to pack usual lacy underwear and sink six glasses of wine in an hour. it'll be soo nice though, I just can't wait. MIL looking after DS1 so I expect they will both be exhausted by the time we return.

stokeymonkey · 13/11/2006 12:33

hello all,

poor magnolia, that must be so horrible. And Elibean too. God, we're all starting to suffer now.
Be careful out there, people!
I'm sending everyone giant cyber-slices of my yummy homemade chocolate cake. Just the thing to cheer you all up this damp and grey Monday morning!
Had ok weekend, my sister the photographer came & took pics of my bump - it wasn't as scary as I thought and I actually didn't mind exposing a bit of bump-flesh, despite my BIL sitting in the same room watching the telly! Will try & show you one when she sends me a disc...
Sleeping really badly - backache really starting to bite now, no matter what I do, how I lie, how many pillows prop me, I still can't get comfy and I wake in the small hours in absolute agony. DH surprisingly sympathetic considering I wake him up too and am so grumpy all the time - he went and did the weekly shop without being asked and took over the cooking this weekend. What a sweetheart. He's so lovely!

judemum · 13/11/2006 12:50

stokey and others who have had photos done- any tips on posing- I suggested to Dh this weekend that he take some photos but apart from the usual "side on, hand on bump and smile at the camera" pose, can't think of anything more creative. Any tips?

Elibean · 13/11/2006 13:16

Stokey, YUM. Thanks. Wish it wasn't cyber

Yep, sounds like we're all into that final bit that Nature probably intended to be this uncomfortable in order to help us face the next bit! Judemum, your birthday weekend sounds great...just in case, Happy Birthday in advance

Jabber, thanks for that - I won't freak out if dd2 has a pointed head then. THough her head is more often sticking into my side than up under my ribs, she switches from one to the other...and either way, must be pretty squished. dd1 was fine, but she did spend a few weeks head down before turning back to oblique...but we took her to a cranial osteo, as she wouldn't nurse happily on one side: after just one session her neck must have been better, and she fed on both. Amazing.

Elibean · 13/11/2006 13:19

Stokey, forgot to say well done on bump photo - look forward to seeing yours and Jabber's (nag, nag, see I told you I would keep on ). Also interested to hear of any creative posing - my favourite one so far is of dd standing in front of me clutching bump with both hands and kissing it. Also one of her tickling it. But my just Bump pictures both pregnancies are more, um, archive information (being polite) than art....

castlesintheair · 13/11/2006 13:30

My DS came out with a wonky head from being squashed up in breech/transverse, he was very tall though (still is) 58cm at birth. DD's head was fine, she was smaller though and my uterus was more stretched probably 2nd time round.

My DD is being such a pita at the moment. I can only put it down to pre-baby stress or is it nearly "threenagers" . She slapped me round the face this morning then bit me on both legs in the school playground, drawing blood What will she be like post-birth I shudder to think?

Eli, I was in the middle of trying to ask my m/w friend about tranny labour too but I had to postpone due to pain being inflicted upon me!!

judemum · 13/11/2006 13:45

well my DS1 was not born with a squashed head, but unfortunately it did squash after birth- called plagiocephaly- basically flat head syndrome. Am pre-warned this time and have got some special pillows recommended by the Swedish Government!

castlesintheair · 13/11/2006 14:08

How is your DS's head now Jude? My DS's is still quite flat at back. We were told it might have partly fused in-utero. I have something I bought from JoJoMamanBebe called a sleep positioner which I used with DD though I think she probably would have been ok without it. Anyway, I used to place her on her side to sleep & the wedges stopped her flipping over.

judemum · 13/11/2006 14:58

Castles- its not too bad now- he's 22 months old. It was very misshappen by about 4 months and I found it very distressing at the time, went to see the consultant etc etc but they all just say "it'll get better, make sure you put them to sleep on their backs" (which I did- thats why it was squashing!). However, when he started flipping onto his belly to sleep at about 6 months I was quietly relieved and left him and it started to get better after that. Anyway, it sort of has got better now - he has a lot more hair now and obviously his head has grown and rounded but it'll never be a perfectly round head, which it was when he was born. I got some of those sleep positioners too, but this time am taking no chances. Swedish gov't give all new mums a special pillow and recommend its use from birth- if you are at all interested, all the info is on this site: www.goigoibabypillows.co.uk

Elibean · 13/11/2006 14:58

Hmm, I wonder at what stage of pg the squashing effect happens most? dd was transverse most of the time up until 36 weeks; she was not very long, and 7.5lbs (just under), so maybe size or last three weeks made a difference. Apart from a cricked neck, she was ok.

Might look at those sleep thingies, Castles...they sound good. As for threenagers, hmm: mine is definitely a bit more volatile than usual - not to the point of inflicting pain, yet, but testing! Mind you, she's had a bad cough/cold for a week - back at nursery today for first time. She knows baby is coming soon, is half excited and half cross/anxious (bit like me, then)...
