The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
judemum · 10/11/2006 12:58

well I had my m/w appointment this morning and all looks well. 35 weeks yesterday. There was a student midwife there who had a practise at palpitating my tummy and freaked out a little bit when baby stuck his foot up in the air and it was clearly defined ... I felt like saying, its goona get a LOT worse than this soon luv, better not be too squeamish! The only thign she said is that she thought my labour would be a lot quicker this time than last time- that's right, put a rocket up me, like I need something esle to worry about, apart from getting to the hospital on time.......still, its all very exciting.... and only another 2 weeks at work for me . My poor replacement is looking a bit shell shocked, but can't say its not satisfying handing over my pile of crap to him!!!

judemum · 10/11/2006 13:00

VM- am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous! Enjoy your shopping spree.

jabberwocky · 10/11/2006 13:30

CR we are really close in dates! Mine is 3 weeks from Monday.

Congrats to VM and judemum for maternity leave. I'm trying to stick it out until the end of the month. I have cut back on hours, though. Probably some raised eyebrows at work there since I work part-time anyway, but I just moan about my ankles and back at the end of the day as I'm sneaking out early

Maternity photo shoot went well i think. It looks like I probaby won't pick out final pictures for a while. She is going to do a follow-up shoot with the baby and then we'll sit down - maybe in February?- and decide.

Have you done yours Stokeymonkey?

And it looks like I won't get to talk to the anesthesiologist until after the 20th. I guess good in a way as I can calm down a little and do some more research. Unless, that is, I get myself completely agitated about the whole thing and then come across as a totally hysterical pregnant woman.

Elibean · 10/11/2006 14:33

Loulou, Bump is transverse - and has been for weeks, with no sign of wanting to be any other way! Mind you, she does do breech at night so she can get a good kick in down below...but as soon as I stand up, back to tranny she goes. Suspect I'm just not the right shape for vertical babies

I can't wait. I'd like her to stay put for another week, then...bring it on! Meantime, suppose I'd better get that bag done tomorrow...anyone doing birth plans for sections?? I don't have much I want to put on one, other than what my OB knows already - suppose it wouldn't hurt to write things down though.

Elibean · 10/11/2006 14:34

Loulou, I'm awaiting a Gecko too - think its coming next week, feels exciting! Hope I can remember how to fold it up and down...

castlesintheair · 10/11/2006 15:14

Sorry the itching is back after a night off, Eli. Do you think you have developed a temporary (gestational) allergy to something? most curious.

I've got "something" sticking out right under my boobs at the moment and it is agony. Tried walking round the house on all fours, lying on one side but the little bu***r won't budge.

Last night was interesting. Got woken by DS coming into our bed (again) and DH snoring (post big client thang) so went and spent rest of night in DS's bed. Woken a couple of hours later by a rather prolonged (solo) orgasm coming from adjoining neighbours house. As far as I'm aware the only female resident in the house is about 65. Well, I mean, glad she's having a good time but could she NOT wake me up at 4am!!! No wonder, my DS keeps coming into our room, perhaps he's being woken up too

judemum · 10/11/2006 15:21

Castles- LOL!!!! , hope I can enjoy myself like that when I'm 65 !! A bit grim for you and DS though...are you sure it was an orgasm and not a dying sigh??!! the two could be confused I suppose

castlesintheair · 10/11/2006 15:25

Yes, Jude, I haven't seen anyone today, perhaps she's snuffed it!!! Or perhaps it's the shagging ghosts (I thought I was hearing the sounds of things that go bump in the night a few nights ago)

Devongirl · 10/11/2006 16:20

Hee hee castles, that's so funny!

I have just heard something - can any of you non-first timers confirm - when breastfeeding, most women don't get their period back til they stop? If this is true this is the best thing ever. My brother just told me it (about his wife obviously) and I've checked it on the web and it seems true but is this everyone's experience? Oh happy day if it is - and how did I not know this after reading every book in existance (almost)

x

judemum · 10/11/2006 16:36

Devon- yes its true- I didn't have a period for about 11 months after DS1 and I b/f him for about 9 months. It was totally FAB!!

tinshoes · 10/11/2006 16:46

Devon, my first period after DD was after 9 months. About a week after i stopped breastfeeding

Devongirl · 10/11/2006 17:08

Oh wow I so hope I can bf! Why would anybody CHOOSE to bottle feed when you don't have a period for all that time, (obviously as well as all the other benefits)

I am so keyed up for it now!

thanks both of you

x

weirdbird · 10/11/2006 17:10

Well have been having what I hope are Braxton Hicks most of the day today, but if they don't stop soon I might be bopping up to the labour ward later to see what they want to do, am still only 34 weeks so they may want to try and stop it, not sure.....

tinshoes · 10/11/2006 17:16

weirdbird. i thought my waters had broke at 33 weeks (luckily they hadnt) but i was told if i was in labour they wouldnt stop it as the baby seemed a good size - eek....

let us know what you do.

weirdbird · 10/11/2006 17:25

Well I phoned the labour ward as I thought if they do start getting regular would rather know what the plan is, (had premature labout before with medication to stop it) they want me to ring back in an hour and let them know what is happening.

I had these on and off for 2 weeks last time around before I actually went into labour, so we shall see what happens...

lucy5 · 10/11/2006 17:41

Hello all,
Congratulations on the last day of work!
Eli, sorry about the itching.
Keep us posted on those pains!!!!!!!!
Hate to say it but my peiod cam eback 6 weeks after I had dd on my birthday!!!! I breastfed for 17 months.

Did a bit of shopping today, got changing mat, litle beanie hat and a nursing bra. Had a bit of a funny turn in Marks, so that was the end of that!

Elibean · 10/11/2006 18:09

Oooo WB, good luck!

Lucy, hope the funny turn was shopping vapours as opposed to bp or something....you ok now?

I didn't get my period until dd was about nine months, stopped bf-ing at six. But I've never had heavy periods, and always had a long cycle - my bf got hers back almost straight away and had them all through bfing...sorry, think it depends!

Have given in, and taken Piriton already - won't usually take it till bedtime, but am going slowly mad. Feel sad, because I am not enjoying being pg at all anymore....really wanted to relish last few days. Just wish it was over now...sorry, hate to bring a downer to thread

Elibean · 10/11/2006 18:10

Castles, your post did cheer me up a bit tho' - made me think of my eldest neice, whose neighbours have mega arguments on one side of the wall, and mega loud orgasms (think 'yes, yes, YEEEEEESSSSS' for hours) on the other: she is moving out

Bet painful bit under rib is a bony little head - have been getting that myself!

lucy5 · 10/11/2006 18:17

I'm fine thanks, just too hot and tired! I think dh may have put a spell on me to stop me spending

It's horrible not enjoying being preggers, on the positive not much longer!

lucy5 · 10/11/2006 18:19

I have huge ankles though!

castlesintheair · 10/11/2006 19:24

Just been round at my friend's house possessively cuddling her adorable 6 week old DD for two hours. OMG I can't wait to meet Beanie now!

On the orgasmic neighbour front: I bumped into "her" on my way out earlier. She IS about 65 and has the look of an aging cypriot widow (all hunched and dressed in black). Wa-hay! At least she hasn't croaked and at least she's enjoying herself

Calmriver · 10/11/2006 19:47

Hi All, went to scan today and baby is slightly off the chart now(small), so they are scanning me on the 24th and if no changes, they will probably deliver then!

Also, babys head is fully engaged and they said may be ready...must just have bags packed and wait! YAY!

What do you all honestly think of the name Amberli-More commmon than we thought

Calmriver · 10/11/2006 20:22

Amberli, not Amberli-More like it looked on my post previously.

VanillaMilkshake · 10/11/2006 20:43

I love the name!

We are fairly set on Amelia, although DH keeps saying he will call her Melia (yuk) and I say Mia, he's also said he think A'melia (as he pronounces it sounds like a country . Cant have my mum;s name of Ruth as with a 'S' surname it's initials will lead to her being called Arse!

Dylan is still the front runner for boys, although DD is still happily calling bump Toby!

Today's shopping trip was pants! Despite having £40 of vouchers in my bag and a DH happy to send money on the last couple of essentials, Mothercare have'nt got the reclining chair I wanted in store so would have to be ordered - not good for a lady who likes to leave a shop with a bag and not just a receipt. And the Avent sterilliser we want has gone back up to £35 everywhere but Costco - which we did'nt do today. baby wise, all I ended up with was two bottles of Johnsons baby bath - love the smell, and another two packs of maternity pads

jabberwocky · 10/11/2006 20:56

Hi all, am sitting here with my feet up as ankles are starting to swell at the end of the day.

Too bad about the shopping trip, VM. What a disappointment.

I've probably gone and done a stupid thing, but have volunteered to work two more Saturdays this month! It still puts me at part-time, but only just. I hope I don't regret it It's just so difficult when you work for yourself and don't have paid maternity leave.
