If you could actually see it, that is!

Daisypops - honestly don't worry about the measurement thing - sounds perfectly fine to me.

Dragonhart · 09/11/2006 18:17

Glad afew of you are having loads of BH contractions too. So many today but def worse when I am doing loads of walking and lifting DS (god he is so heavy now!!)

Went to toysrus to look at a tandem buggy and it is enormous! Best of a bad lot but dreading having to push it as they both put on weight! Also when I cross the road, I think I will have to walk to the front of it to be able to see if anything is coming!

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 20:13

OH....MY......GOD!!!

I measured my "waist" today.
46 inches at 32 weeks.
I wasn't that until about 36 weeks with ds3.

I went to Eastbourne yesterday and you would honestly think that I was the only PG woman ever to walk through the town.
People were almost staring at me, and I felt quite paranoid but after measuring my....errrr.....waist is not surprising.
I'm a size 10-12 normally and only 5'4" so I probably look like a great big egg.

8 weeks and 4days and counting......

OonaghBhuna · 09/11/2006 20:26

I was told that my only chance of a natural birth was if I went early as the baby is to big for my pelvis. I had an emergency c/s with DD due to this.So it looks like I will be booked in for the end of December.....Im not organised at all, finish work in 3 weeks although I am part time. We still dont have a kitchen its nearly 14 weeks now, and I havent packed my hospital bag yet, I am in chaos!DD has survived 3 months of drilling and banging she deserves a medal she has been great.
Luckily the baby looks healthy and has been wriggling around all day!

Lizzz · 09/11/2006 20:39

I had mw appt this morning and when she tried to prod me to find out which way the baby is lying it was really painful so she said she would try again at my next appointment in 3 wks. I'm guessing this means I have NO pain threshold, if I cant even stand her prodding me in the lower belly!
I've got a nasty cold brewing (may even be man flu!), and am desperate to dose up on vitamin C, but all advice I've read is conflicting. Can we take vitamin C or not? I dont understand!
I don't know if I've had a BH contraction or not. Does it feel like a really big kick?

LadyTophamHatt · 09/11/2006 20:46

NO, Lizzzz it's when your belly goes rock hard and feels reallly really tight.

My ds's LOVE it when it happens and are always prodding me to see how hard my belly is!

has anyone seen magnolia?? she hasn't posted for awhile...

Lizzz · 09/11/2006 20:54

How long does each one last? My belly feels rock hard and tight now. Ooh, how exciting, I could be having one now!

LadyTophamHatt · 10/11/2006 07:26

They last a minute or so LIzzz, sometimes less, someimes a more.

You'll definatley know when you're having one because the difference is amazing.
As you get bigger they get more uncomfortable too, IMO gradually getting painful (as you get bigger) rather than uncomfortable IYSWIM. I rememeber being PG with DS1 and pushing the shopping trolley almost bend double because my belly was so hard and uncomfortable.
I'm sure the other shoppers thought I was in labour!!

Daisypops · 10/11/2006 10:23

Mmm, are BH always painful. My bump goes tight now and again but I thought it was bub moving position.

Dunno where magnolia is, not heard from her for ages.

Does anyone know where I can get a wrapover dress, cheap and quick? Need one to visit DP's relatives next week.

Loubie37 · 10/11/2006 10:51

poppynic · 10/11/2006 11:13

Hi all, just wanted to share my happy news. We have been in a bit of a flap about what to do with ds when I go into hospital as we haven't been here long. Asked our wonderful head nursery teacher today if they had babysitting contacts etc. etc. After a bit of a talk she said she would "scoop him up" for a couple of hours if the baby was coming near the end of nursery. She lives very close to us and I have consistently been impressed by her. Also, just bought a pram/pushchair on ebay for £10 .

theUrbanDryad · 10/11/2006 11:42

poppynic, sounds like you got a right bargain there! cheaper than mine, even!

not sure about magnolia - i had her email address but lost it

magnolia where are you??

annieapple7 · 10/11/2006 12:15

Hi everyone,
can I join you? I am due 29 Jan, so I just squeeze in (this is baby no 3 and I went early with the previous 2).
It has taken me ages to read this thread...I would get the sack if I wasn't self-employed!
Reassuring to know that all the aches, pains, irritations and accelerated hair growth are normal, but I am too terrified to weigh or measure my bump though - both would be in large figures!
I noticed Shimmer was asking about breast pumps earlier...I used an electric one Medela, must easier than hand pumps which give you RSI, although it was pretty noisy. I would wait until you have the baby before deciding if you need one.

Daisypops · 10/11/2006 12:34

I was chatting to my friend the other week and she said she measured the same round as what she was in height. IYSWIM. Shes 5 foot and measured 5 foot round

How much weight has everyone put on? I know it varies from woman to woman but last time I weighed myself I'd put 2 stone on and I've eaten really well. I dread to think what I'd weigh if I'd eaten crap and had cravings!

Breast pumps-eeek! Does it hurt? I am intending on breastfeeding but keep puttng the idea of a breast pump to one side coz it sounds painful.

Welcome annieapple7, theres tons of us now. Do you know what sex your having? I think EPM does that stats post, I don't know how.

lulu25 · 10/11/2006 12:47

7kg. Put it all on in front and lost it elsewhere. Me so smug. My DP refers to breast pumps as "milking machines". I am definitely not going to think about that yet.

laughalot · 10/11/2006 13:07

Hi everyone hope you are all ok im really tired today woke up last night twice with cramp in each leg it was bloody painfull but funny to see dh face as I was leaning over the bed breathing like labour was starting and thats only because he is away with the lads for the weekend at cheltenham races can you imagine having to let your friends down because your wife was in labour . My dear parents are coming to mine for the weekend and tomorrow im off to the hairdressers I cant wait to be pampered. Have a good weekend all xxx

annieapple7 · 10/11/2006 13:35

I haven't found out what sex I am having but think about it all the time (that's sex of the baby, not the other type!)I put on 3 stone first time and 2 and a half second time, but fear a world record this time, particularly as I am eating a Mars bar as I speak...
The breast pump did sound a bit like a lawnmower but didn't feel any worse than breastfeeding. My husband did complain he couldn't hear the TV. It is handy if you want to go out without the baby and leave a feed.
I recently visited a dairy farm and watched the cows being milked, and thought, "That'll be me, soon...."

MrsPeacock · 10/11/2006 14:07

Thnaks for the voucher loubie, spent £100 in there last weekend on car seat, and other bits, could have saved myself a whole tenner- grrr!

Had 32 week Dr's appointment this week and mine is breech too! Apparently only 3-4% of babies are breech at full term so they can't all stay the wrong way up! We shouldn't be worrying until about 36 weeks when they start to engage (1st babies, 2nd etc babies sometimes don't bother engaging till labour). can you tell I have been reading up. Also loads more blood/wee tests - yipee! Never in my life has medical science been so interested in my bodily fluids and I used to give blood!

Ok rant over, have good weekends laydees.

Tillypup · 10/11/2006 14:38

Hi All,

I had a 31 week midwife appointment a couple of days ago. All fine, bump measured 31cm, she had a bit of a feel around and thought the baby might be lying breech still, I also think this as I'm sure I can feel its head just under my ribs most of the time! She also said it was nothing to worry about until 36weeks but I might start sitting on the gym ball whilst watching TV to help things along.

I've put on 13kgs so far, really not sure where it has all gone as I'm no bigger anywhere except the bump, my boobs have only gone up 2 cup sizes.

Went spinning last night, I got told not to do one bit by the instructor but coped with everything else alright! I've had a bit of indegestion over the past few days.

eating a banana before going to bed seems to help with the leg cramps.

elliepmummy · 10/11/2006 14:41

Busy on here again today! Glad the mood has lightened up a bit nice to read about so many of us getting towards the end now!

Had some fab news at owrk today our branch has won a quarter award as top performers and we have won £500 for a branch night out (we are going ot go to london for a meal and show) and I won an individual award as top performer in the south east so won £100 voucher (handy for after bubs is born) plus invite to conference (location to be decided last year ot was canada for 4 days so who knows- the only bummer is not sure of dates so dont know if I'll be able to make it!) and best of all I won a 42" plasma tv yipee yipee yipee!!!!

Daisypops · 10/11/2006 15:09

EPM-wow. I wanna work for your company! Make sure you pamper yourself with your £100.00. Well done!

All these breech bubs, whats going on?!

Can anyone tell me what sort of pain you get with BH? My bump goes really hard and someone commented on it been hard today, would love to know if its BH. x

OonaghBhuna · 10/11/2006 15:14

Elliepmummy, that sounds great well done! Im having a bit of a crap day today I nearly fainted this morning and was really dizzy and short of breath. The MW came out to see me everything is ok, just told to rest over the weekend. It could be a virus or just the way the baby is lying at the moment. DH is working from home to make sure I am ok, he made me a lovely lunch and a cup of tea so not complaining!!!
Babas and leg massages help with cramp pains at night, I get them too unfortunately.

OonaghBhuna · 10/11/2006 15:15

Bananas!! I cant spell today!

lulu25 · 10/11/2006 15:26

Daisy - BHs don't hurt. That's how you know when the real thing has started...
