Katierocket saw your other thread about staying in hosp after section when I had DD went in tues at 10am had her at 4.19pm (last one on section list) and was told thurs morning that I would be discharged friday but after 4pm as my hospital policy is stictly 72hours after section. This time section booked for a friday so am hoping I can come home monday lunchtime as DD used to seeing grandpaents at weekends and it wont be that diferent for her also my mum is going to bring her to our house before we leave hospital so she is here for when we bring baby home (I feel its important that she is here and doesnt arrive home to find a baby in the house. Also DH not bringing her to see me till sat afternoon as I will have had drip and catheter removed had a chance for a shower and look like mummy as think she'd be scared otherwise)

Trinityrhino · 08/11/2006 18:36

ok, who else has a horrid nagging pain to one side of their pelcic bone, well sort of on it really not high and is made worse by walking or lifting. what the hell is it ans how can I ease it, it doesn't seem to be high enough up to be the baby with a leg or arm satuck somewhere that hurts. i think it;s a vein thinbg like maybe they are being trapped or leant on by the baby further up. it's sooo painful and it's driving me mad. help

2Happy · 08/11/2006 19:46

Got sent home early so back at 7.30 not 8.30 - but is now nearly 18 hours I've been awake for! Knackered, but couldn't let your post pass, Jess. I can't believe he would say that! I can't believe anyone would say that, but someone who's supposed to love you more than anyone, whose child you're carrying! Being pg is unbelievably hard blooody work - show him these threads if you like! Yes, some people enjoy it, but it seems sadly to be the minority, and so many other people are in pain, sick, tired, and bout to go through more pain than a man will ever have to deal with. Does he have any insight into how unreasonably he's behaving? Just don't know what to say, but really thinking of you x (And you, too Muppet, hope the bruises are better tomorrow)

Daisypops · 08/11/2006 23:04

Trinity, you're not the only one. I've had 2 days off with back ache and lack of sleep. When I'm sat down I'm ok (ish) but getting up is a total mare and I limp until my back loosens. Seeing MW tomorrow so am going to ask her what is it and what I can do. Also think I've got thrush . How atractive. No wonder DP is complaining about the lack of sex!

posyparker · 09/11/2006 10:25

Re "sub-optimal positions" - I was told that my baby was transverse at my last a/n (28 + 3) but, like most of you with breeches, that it was nothing to worry about yet. Need to start worrying at about 36 weeks, apparently. I am now 31 + 2 and do not think anything has changed.

I am starting to get a bit worried though, I know there is absolutely no way they can deliver a transverse vaginally. I have also made the fatal mistake of googling the issue and have come across some awful stories about what can happen with a transverse if your waters break early!

I am trying desperately to sit properly (up straight, hips higher than knees) and to spend some time each day on all fours, which is meant to help encourage the baby to turn. No luck so far, as far as I know.

I also really hate the mw pressing on my bump to check the position - I find it so painful! Last time she said oops seem to have hit a nerve there! It's good to hear that the ECV is not so bad though, I imagined it must be a real nightmare. But it's alarming to know that they would attempt one without scanning first to check that the cord was not around the baby's neck

Ladywithababy · 09/11/2006 10:26

Elliep and Katierocket, thanks for the info. Good to know what may lay ahead for me.

I know it's hard to tell and I know absolutely nothing, but I am still sure it is lying horizontally and last night MIL had a feel and she thought it was as well.

Really tired today, lost of renovations going on at home, and I just didn't get enough sleep last night - roll on Saturday, could really do with a lie in (yawn).

We have all been a bit down recently, I hope things improve and we start to feel better

Ladywithababy · 09/11/2006 10:34

Posyparker, I must be the same stage as you, 32 weeks next week. As yet no one has had a good old press down on me, just a general feel at mt 28 weeker. But I have next Drs one on Monday so now I am armed with some more information I know what to ask. (I will reference your horror stories)

Google can be your worst enemy!

Loubie37 · 09/11/2006 11:15

Morning all, hope you're all well. Sorry for not keeping up with the personals - there's so many of you I lose track of who's who now! (Baby brain has definitely kicked into gear )

Thanks for the sympathies re morning sickness - I'm still feeling pretty exhausted, but my lie ins are helping and I do feel better than I did this time last week. I'm still sick a lot, but keep thinking of all the pre pregnancy weight I must be losing (and there's a lot of it to go, there's no way baby will starve!)

I was a bit relieved when I went to my first ante-natal class the other night - apparently they will consider inducing you if baby is looking rather on the big size (which mine appears to be) or if you have SPD (even though it's not been diagnosed I'm pretty sure I've got it. I've mentioned it a couple of times but it gets swept under the carpet each time, with the excuse that it's just 'one of those things' - it might be to them, but when I'm struggling to get out the car or walk upstairs without crying it doesn't feel like 'one of those things'!)

I've been really worried about how I'll cope in the last couple of weeks if baby is on the big side (my son was a week early and weighed 9lb) especially if I do have SPD, so I feel a lot happier now knowing they'll consider inducing me if it gets unbearably painful and I'm unable to cope.

Right, I'm off now to wrap up some more Xmas pressies - under the cot is the perfect place to hide them away until the tree goes up and they can come downstairs

Daisypops · 09/11/2006 11:32

Sounds like we're all a bit down at the mo.

I had my MW appt this morning and my bub is also breech. Nothing to worry about but I just googled it and the scare stories are shocking

Also a bit worried because the MW put me down as 30+6 and the size of my uterus as 30 weeks. I'm actually 31 weeks today so is my uterus a week behind? I should've asked but I didn't read what she'd put til I got out. She did measure me and said I was growing perfectly but I can't help worrying. She also said bub was not biggy!!!

Wish I was wrapping christmas prezzys Loubie. Six more weeks of work for me. x

Dragonhart · 09/11/2006 11:56

Daisypopd, my midwife said DS was 'not very big' at every appt but he was still 8lbs7 when born (not huge but a desent weight). They dont really have an idea what weight they will be anyway esp if you are quite tall like I am.

Has anyone else been getting loads of braxton hicks contractions? I am getting a bit worried as I am getting loads, prob about 20-30 a day for the last few days. Sur eit is not labour, but didnt start getting this until about 38 weeks last time. Do you think I should go to see midwife, although I cant bear to hear them say 'yes, that normal in preg' and look at me in that really patronising way! Or is everyone geting this?

Loubie37 · 09/11/2006 12:05

Daisypops - I don't leave work (officially) until 19/12 so around the same time as you I guess - but I'm signed off sick at the moment due to morning (all day) sickness and exhaustion. Wrapping xmas pressies is about all I've got the energy for I don't know if I'll be going back to work - I hope so, I don't want to just disappear IYKWIM and I don't want to miss all the Xmas stuff, it's the only time of year at work we're allowed to actually have fun ;)

And I wouldn't worry too much about your bump measurements, I asked about this at my antenatal class the other night and the midwife said she doesn't know why they still bother measuring - everyone carries their baby differently and the fundus height isn't an accurate gauge at all....I hope not as at my 28 week check up I measured 32 weeks

Loubie xx

Daisypops · 09/11/2006 12:40

Dh- She made a comment about me not been that tall and therefore not having a big bub? I'm 5 7"!!! So not exactly short!
Poor your Loubie, I did read your post about getting signed off for 2 weeks, sorry. Make the most of your time off if you can, has your sickness eased at all? I've booked odd days to make my weeks shorter and try and get my christmas shopping done, so excited about christmas I love it.

Daisypops · 09/11/2006 12:42

Breech babies may also have accidents during delivery that can damage the umbilical cord or cause asphyxia, or even cause death of the mother or baby. WTF????????????????

elliepmummy · 09/11/2006 12:52

think you should stop googling now DP!! hospital I am under wont even consider a natural breech birth i presume for some of those reasons!!

loubie glad sickness is wearing off, cant remember who else is here today but hello to you all. right off to make me and dd some lunch (soup and crusty bread yummy!)

Loubie37 · 09/11/2006 12:57

Daisypops - I'm 5'7" too and my DD was 8lb5oz (2 weeks early) and my son 9lb (1 week early)!! Sometimes I think some midwives don't have a clue.....

Sickness is a lot better thanks - one of my main triggers was travelling so by staying at home all day and not going out in the car I'm not being sick half as much. I've still got hardly any appetite though? Which is strange, I thought I'd be at the stage where I'm feeling more hungry. I'm trying to snack on healthy stuff when I don't feel up to a proper meal so hopefully baby's getting enough nutrients.

I love Christmas too - I just wish it was going to be 5 of us this Christmas not 4....although my wish may be granted as yet?! As long as baby's healthy I really wouldn't mind him coming a bit early....I've had enough now!

Loubie xx

lulu25 · 09/11/2006 13:16

DP - i think scariness depends on the type of breech. if baba has both feet next to his face, you have a chance of delivering naturally because his bum will plug the hole and lead the way (sorry for lack of medically appropriate terms) in the same way that his head would for a head-down birth. if one or both feet are dangling down into the birth canal, though, you don't get the pressure you need on the cervix to get things moving down and there is also more of a risk of the cord getting tangled up eg between legs hence risk of asphyxia. Mine, apparently, is in an optimal position, but the doctor that told me this also told me I was "measuring big" (which as someone else mentioned is pretty much nonsense) and prescribed me multivitamins for an alleged B12 defiency which don't appear to include B12 but do contain Vitamin A. So I'm doing all the knees below hips and crawling about stuff anyway.

Daisypops · 09/11/2006 13:19

Loubie your making my eyes water now! I suppose the messgae here is take what your MW says with a pinch of salt!

Not googling anymore EPM, its scary.

Glad your sickness is easing, I've been lucky and not had any. Just one bout after I'd eaten to much! You keep munching on your healthy snacks, your bub will get all he needs.

x

Hattie2 · 09/11/2006 13:38

I was also told I was measuring big (about 4 or 5 cms 'too' big) and was sent for an extra scan - this showed bub was slightly above average, so am taking no notice of the tape measure from now on!

dragonhart - loads and loads of braxton hicks here (one just now as I type), they don't usually start until about 11am but then it's at least 3 or 4 an hour until bedtime.

theUrbanDryad · 09/11/2006 14:25

heya all - well i am sick to the back teeth of these pins and needles! i keep waking up in the night and clobbering dh without realising cause my arms are totally dead! honest! he very nearly got clouted the other night cause he was snoring so loudly i couldn't sleep, but the db woke him up by kicking him really hard in the back! hehe....seems to enjoy kicking daddy. and mummy. and everyone. weird. i'm going to be a mummy.

i'm getting one or two braxton hicks' now too though not as many as hattie. usually one or two an evening if i'm just on the sofa, less if i'm moving around. had a crippling one the other day whilst draining a pot of potatoes - had to struggle not to tip the boiling water all over myself!

my mw said i'm measuring spot on for my dates, but then she has my due date as the 16th of january which is taken from the first day of my last period. if you go by my scan dates i'm due the 9th, which would make me small for dates. but i (and dr miriam agrees with me!) reckon that it's not the bump that matters, cause it depends on how much fluid there is, how big the placenta is etc.

well anyway, i'm off for a bit of a walk - it's glorious sunshine here, if a bit nippy! happy bumps y'all! xxx

MotherBeaker · 09/11/2006 15:17

I get Braxton-Hicks after doing particular things like walking up stairs or going for a wee . I had them lots around 23 weeks or so and then they disappeared but now they are back.

I was also worried when the mw said my bump measured 30 weeks but I was almost 32. I was still a bit worried until last night when I felt his feet push me right out at my side when I know his head is on the other side - definitely can't be that small! Also my husband was 12 pounds when he was born - 5 foot tall MIL pushed him out with no pain relief , so surely my baby might be relatively large. Ouch.

theUrbanDryad · 09/11/2006 15:22

ouch indeed!

katierocket · 09/11/2006 15:24

Daisypops - breech not that much of an issue until 36 weeks, I was breech with last one and ended up having a ECV but midwife thinks this one will turn. I am determined to help it - spending a lot of time with my bum in the air! I have a brilliant book about breech babies that a very kind mumsnetter lent me - I can post the details here if anyone is interested.

Measuring this is a load of crap I reckon - midwife said as much to me today. I wasn't noted as being big last time and DS was 9lb 13oz.

Daisypops · 09/11/2006 15:47

Katierocket, can you post the breech info you've got?I'd like to have a read.

katierocket · 09/11/2006 15:50

It's very detailed with loads of info - a lot of which is about having a breech birth rather than a breech pregnancy IFYKWIM but it's really good.

Breech Birth - Benna Waites - published by Free Association Books

Daisypops · 09/11/2006 15:53

Urban, Your bub sounds really active. If our bub kicked I don't think DP would feel it in the back.

I'm confused because I'm 31 weeks today, measure 30 but MW says I'm spot on....?

I wonder who'll be the first to have their bub, not long to go now is it? Does anyone know how to post pictures on here? I aint got a clue.
