Is anyone else seriosuly pi$$ed off with this not sleeping lark. I'm knackered and can't fuffing sleep. Been awake sine 1.40am, had some hot chocolate and just can't get bacck off, good job I haven't got work tomorrow.

2Happy · 25/11/2006 07:31

Hope you got back to sleep, Daisypops. I was awake at the same time and considering MNing, but settled down with Harry Potter instead!

Lizzz · 25/11/2006 09:53

hi, I am obsessed by perinal massage, and determined not to tear. Apparently you should start in wk 34, thats monday for me. And you can use vitamin E oil, or olive oil, but if you are using a nut based oil you have to be careful in case you have an allergic reaction (imagine!) there are some good instructions to be found on the internet if you google the subject. I havent tried it out yet, but it seems you have to poke around up there quite far with both thumbs...basically when you read the instructions it seems quite difficult, but I am sure it cant be that hard! FYI - Holland and Barrat were doing a special 2 for 1 on vitamin E oil a couple of weeks ago, may still be on.

theUrbanDryad · 25/11/2006 10:48

blimey lizzz - that's dedication for ya!

well i got about an hour's sleep last night too...am having serious friend problems (i did a post on the relationships thread a while ago about my two best friends sleeping together...argh! it's a nightmare!) so was awake a lot of the night worrying about that, my mum's arm, my dad's lungs (another long story) the fact i can't remember my new PIN number, and on top of that the bloody window kept banging and this baby was doing gymnastics! and i was too hot, then i was too cold...grr...looking forward to squeezing this baby out now!

LTH - i will let you know when we're next down your way...although i think you're still a good hour's drive from the IL's (they're in dorking BTW).

Dragonhart · 25/11/2006 11:35

Has anyone else suddenly grown enormous? My bump seems huge and really heavy. Sure it wasnt this big last time as I was still working and driving 2 1/2 hours a day til 36 weeks.

Everyone is well in the Dragon houshold now. DS slept all night and DH cough is loads better. Still didnt sleep. After being ill, am starting to look like the undead!

Has anyone got a new mattress? Just wondering if it is worth investing or whether I will still not be able to get comfortable and not sleep? Could do without it just before christmas.

Hope everyone else is well and has a good weekend.

Dragonhart · 25/11/2006 11:38

By the way ELM, glad yo are off work but all your checkups seem like a new job for you! Hope they all go well.

LadyTophamHatt · 25/11/2006 12:08

We got anew mattress about 6 weeks ago Dhart. we said we'd get one when we moved into our old house...which was over 5 yrs ago.
Then we said we'd get one after ds3 was born and he's 3 now.

I threw a tantrum about it a while ago and we went out and got one that weekend. Not a cheap shopping trip though.. £350!! There was cheaper ones but we'd have to replace it again because it's all about quaility with mattress apparently. That was probably just sales speech to get us to buy it!!
It is lovely and comfy and 10,000 times better than our old one but in all honesty I don't think I'm slepping any better. I can't wait to sleep on it when not PG. It'll be heaven!!

UD, yes, you're right. dorking is still quite a trek from here. maybe one day eh??

As for perinanal massage.....how on earth would I bloody reach it!!
Really girls, hand on heart, no exaggeration I just wouldn't be able to reach it now even if I wanted too.
I had stitches with ds1+2 but none with ds3 so I've had it both ways and TBH IMO neither is worse than the other. Stitches tighten as they heal so you get abit sore but then if you haven't had stitches you're hardly going to be running marathons or doing star jumps...it's still sore down there without stitches!!

Dragonhart · 25/11/2006 21:38

Thought that might be the case with the mattress LTH. Who needs practice when you have a 16month old teething!

Loubie37 · 25/11/2006 22:07

We badly need a new mattress.....but considering with both DD & DS the first sign of me being in labour was my waters breaking in the middle of the night, we've decided to wait until AFTER this one arrives

Magnolia - crikey, it's hard to believe one of us is having our baby NEXT WEEK!! Good luck, hope it goes well, looking forward to reading all about it

As for me, not much to say really, I'm feeling very fat, very sick and very fed up Seeing consultant on Thursday re SPD, although not too hopeful about the outcome as the midwife I spoke to who arranged the appointment said all I'll get offered is crutches?? I'm hoping they'll offer induction 2/3 weeks before my due date - I'm getting really worried about how I'm supposed to give birth when I can't even open my legs???

Take care everyone

Loubie xx

Harry2007 · 25/11/2006 22:56

Hi everyone!

I'm yet another new mum to be expecting in January - the 28th to be exact. We know that it's a boy.

I'm just approaching 32 weeks at the moment and don't have much to complain about really except that when the MW measured me last week, I was measuring 34 weeks and a growth scan showed measurements of 35 weeks! Anyone else had big measurements?

Could anybody tell me when I should be feeling Braxton Hicks - I've had nothing as yet (this is my first baby).

Hope everyone is doing ok.

XXXX

theUrbanDryad · 26/11/2006 10:10

hi harry2007 - blimey it's gonna be midwives and obstetricians working double shifts come jan isn't it??! this is my first baby too...i started getting BH very early on, about 26 weeks but it can depend. my other pregnancy guru, miriam stoppard, says that some ladies never get them, so i wouldn't worry about it!

my hands are now so stiff that typing is a major effort. i'm also feeling huge, fat, spotty, greasy. i know that magnolia probably isn't feeling very lucky, but if i'm brutally honest i'm a tiny bit jealous of you right now hun!! xxx

LadyTophamHatt · 26/11/2006 10:31

Ohhh me too UD, I'm jealous too!

Good luck Magnolia, enjoy your new little boy

OonaghBhuna · 26/11/2006 13:07

Welcome Harry. My tummy button is soooo stretched now that it is actually painful this didnt happen before, it feels bruised. Anyway DD has great fun lifted up my top and saying Baby!!! Apart from that the baby is wriggling and kicking like mad there isnt much room left for her!! Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Galmum · 26/11/2006 14:07

Sooo pleased to hear that I'm not the only one with a giant bump - I'm only 31 weeks!! I'm attracting lots of unwanted public commentary - this week I've had the classics of "You look fit to burst" ""not long to go now", her mouth hit the floor when I said, "Yes - just 9 weeks"" and "Is it twins?"

WTF!!!! I know people get this stuff wrong all the time, but was starting to feel freaked out by Friday night. I don't want to be told by Joe Public that I'm growing a giant baby all the bloody time. I'm measuring a couple of cms above my date, but I'm still just within the normal band. MW is very cool and lovely - she has n't said a thing yet! I've had a GTT and that is fine.

Best wishes to Magnolia1 and your little boy. Sending lots of positive happy vibes your way!

OonaghBhuna · 26/11/2006 15:14

Galmum,I was huge with DD and she was a very healthy 9lbs 2oz.This baby is going to be a similar size I am sure. I get fed up with people saying are you sure its not twins, people think that you are public property when pregnant.I am proud of my big bump but I am sensitive about it too.

ELM · 26/11/2006 17:45

Evening! Half way through a dip selection pack and some cheese straws so much for a healthy dinner!
Loubie, your SPD sounds like a nightmare, I hope they agree to your induction on Thursday

Can't really comment on the big-bump thing, as mine is still fairly small... ...(not much water)

Hattie2 · 26/11/2006 18:36

My sympathy to those with big bumps, I too am fed up with the "are you sure there's only 1 in there?" comments.

Still "only 6 weeks to go" (as people keep telling me!) - feels like a lifetime at the moment!

LadyTophamHatt · 27/11/2006 07:42

hattie, i nearly cried last night whenhauling myself up the stair and then into bed at the prospect of still having 6 weeks to go.

Even DH said "ohhhh that'll whizz by"....I felt like stabbing him!!!!!

Thinking of it in terms of day sounds a little better...only 42 days to go (well it's 43 in my case but you know what I mean)

Lizzz · 27/11/2006 07:59

No!!! thinking of it in days is so much scarier. I'm due on the 7th of Jan, so that makes it what, 34 days or something?!?!?! OMG! Imagine if it comes early too? I'm not ready yet. I found myself washing and polishing the living room windows at 8pm last night, and I have a burning desire to take a sickie and do the rest of the windows today. I think this nesting malarky is kicking in.
Nearly started cleaning in the middle of the night. It must surely beat sitting in bed trying either to keep dinner down or to get to sleep! I'm averaging about 5 hours a night. (plus loo breaks) I cant see how it will be much worse when the baby comes!
2 weeks left at work! Can't wait!

theUrbanDryad · 27/11/2006 08:52

hey all - well i am soooooo tired! managed about 3 hours sleep last night. was convinced i was almost going into labour though...bloody BH every 5 minutes. i get up out of bed, have a walk, they stop. go back to bed. they start again. get up. have a walk. they stop. go back to bed....yeah, you get the picture i'm sure. DH was really sweet though, getting all the pillows out of the spare room and propping me up. i still didn't sleep much, but at least i was comfortable and awake rather than turning over all the bloody time (and THAT takes about five minutes to do as well!)

becks5109 · 27/11/2006 09:49

hello everyone! back from my hols in South Africa ? had a lovely 2 weeks with my parents in the sunshine but really missed my DH's help with DD as she decided not to sleep and had me up about 3 times a night! Still it was better than working and I didn't to a dot of housework or washing just chilled out and read books and went for walks. However, now I'm back I feel like crap ? completely exhausted the whole time, can't walk anywhere, bump is aching like mad and can't bear the thought of another 7 weeks to go! So it was relief to log on and see that everyone else is feeling pretty much the same! Think I need to stop focussing on how far away my due date is and focus on finishing work on December 29th. This is my last full week at work as have various appointment and days off booked so if I can just get through this week. Not helping that hubby is majorly stressed with work and doesn't seem very interested in this pregnancy ? mind you probably cos I'm either moaning or asleep on the sofa! I too am hoping for a homebirth ? has anyone done any good research? I'm thinking of getting a pool in a box which is basically just like a big paddling pool. Only other preparation I've done is buying some new pads for my tens machine as the last 2 people that borrowed it didn't which I thought was a bit yukky but also a bit tight of them! Am borrowing a moses basket from my SIL as her 12 week old has just grown out of it. Did most of my Xmas shopping on holiday which is a relief so am going to endeavour to get all my cards done in the next 2 weeks as well.

theUrbanDryad · 27/11/2006 09:55

becks - have a look on here
lots of good info about homebirths. i was going to get a birthing pool but think i'll just stick with the bath!

good to hear your holiday went ok. i'm insanely jealous, i'd do anything to get away from this flippin grey weather we're having at the moment!!

laughalot · 27/11/2006 14:25

Hi everyone hope you are all ok im a bit down at the moment feeling very sorry for myself and very fed up, I should be happy its my birthday tomorrow but I feel shitty . Had a awful day wih ds yesterday he played me and dh up all day he is 2.4 years and he wants to do everything himself if he could cook his own dinner he would, he is obssesed with keys at the minute he wants to lock the doors open the car doors open the garage its just it takes forever and his favourite word at the moment is NO !! He moaned all day yesterday I ended up dragging him upstairs and put him in his room then procedeed to pull his door handle of when I shut the door because I was so mad I then burst into tears told my dh I dident want kids and that I am a bad mum because I cant control my child never mind look after another one. Dh went into ds room he was screaming mummy mummy mummy I told dh to leave him because I was boss and he has no right to over rule what I say iv gone syco im sure of it on a serious note though for those who already have children who have been that age is it normal for them to be so independant and say no all the bloody time ? I feel like I cant take him anywhere in case he starts kicking off I think I just want some reassurance thats its normal. On a brighter note I finish work on thursday I shall miss my friends but im ready even though I only do two days a week.

Just want to send all my love to you and your family magnolia for this week xxx

becks5109 · 27/11/2006 17:28

oh laughalot you're not living up to your name! Seriosuly though my DD is now 2.6 and was just like this a few months ago - rest assured it does get better. She is still massively independent and wants to do everything herself but I am able to reason and bargain with her alot more than I was a few weeks/months ago. I think you have to pick you battles and try to let them get away with the small stuff as its not worth fighting everything. I bet you're a great mum so don't beat yourself up. My hormones are playing havoc with me - one mintue I feel totally down the next i'm absolutely fine - have some chocolate!

Dragonhart · 27/11/2006 19:16

I know that everyone wants to just have their babies now, but we have so much to do on the house, I am getting quite nervous that 6-7 weeks is not enough!

Sympathies Laughalot, my DS has started doing that now and he is only 16months! His latest trick is running into his new bedroom when he gets to the top of the stairs for a nappy change, and when I try to pick him up he does that stiff-arms-and-legs-and-thrashing-head manoover which is pretty hard to hold when he is so heavy and my back is sooo sore!
