If you're due in November 2015, well here's your ante natal club! Come and talk about vomit inducing man-scents, cheese roasties you simply cannot do without/or stand, the picked ice cream you must have right now, and the bubbling desire to tell the world but checking dates to restrain yourself!

I've just had to physically stop myself buying something! My Morrisons have loads of white vests & baby grows in the sale for £1/£2 and I so so wanted to buy them!
I'm not in the least bit worried about this pregnancy, I generally have healthy ones, have never miscarried and everything is feeling normal so far, I have no reason to not buy and it would help financially to start as soon as possible...but it just doesn't feel right until after the scan
Has anyone bought anything? Would I be crazy to do it?

FlossyLil · 09/04/2015 11:06

Hi Ladies, not caught up in a little while. Sorry to hear your sad news Liliana Flowers

Was ill all over Easter weekend with norovirus - just what I didn't need on top of MS! Not really the weekend I was planning. Just getting back my strength now.
Been invited to a girly night out at the weekend with stay over, think I'm gonna come up with a reason why I have to be up super early the next day, so I can't drink and can't stay the night Confused

CishAndFips · 09/04/2015 11:26

i havent bought anything yet blue but my mum bought a couple of bibs and sleepsuites for easter as apparently she cant buy for one grandchild without the otherHmmGrin

BlueBananas · 09/04/2015 11:30

Cish that is so cute Grin bless your mum!
See we've not told anyone yet either so it all doesn't feel real enough yet which is why I want to wait for the scan, but then I'd only buy the same things then?! Oh I don't know!

roughtyping · 09/04/2015 12:07

blue DH bought a little soft bunny just after we had BFP, but I'm like you, having to stop myself buying stuff! Will definitely be getting stuff after the scan. Smile

nehagarg · 09/04/2015 12:12

haha! I am sure of that! Good luck with that and congratulations on the twins. I find out in 2 weeks if its 1 or 2 or 6 .. Cant wait! :)

ehealy · 09/04/2015 12:20

Feel like a winge here. Why is it that every receptionist at doctors or hospital are so patronising and rude! Doctor gave me number to book ultrasound and the receptionist at ultrasound was so rude! Here's hoping the midwives are nicer when I call them!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 09/04/2015 12:20

I haven't bought anything as have had previous miscarriage. I was completely confident about that pregnancy and then it ended at 11 weeks so I'm not as confident any more.

Definitely not buying until the 20 week scan.

flyingsprocket .. I hear you. I am impatiently waiting for the 12 week scan so i can stop worrying about the things they an find wrong then and start worrying about the 20 week one instead. Its never ending.

ehealy - for sure ... I am hoping my midwife will be nicer too (once i meet her) ... the receptionists are all so evil sounding and rude.

Blueblink · 09/04/2015 13:11

Yippeee! 12 week scan date is here! DP is at home this week fitting our new bathroom and apparently he is now allowed to open my post! Shock He is starting to get a bit excited so I'll let him off! Wink
Only 3 1/2 weeks to wait! Grin

nehagarg · 09/04/2015 13:58

That is post you want opened as soon as you get it!

Its an exciting time. :)

TakesTwoToTango · 09/04/2015 14:27

So sorry lilliana

Great scan news mama

Blue could it be the antibiotics making you feel nauseous? I find they can do that especially if i'm already feeling a bit off colour.

Still nauseous and still spotting here. Fingers crossed I might have a scan tomorrow! (Have a dr appointment and they are trying to fit me in for a scan too to check what - if anything - is going on in there). Am feeling rather nervous!!

TakesTwoToTango · 09/04/2015 14:34

Not bought anything here either, both because I'm not certain all is going as it should and also because I already have a dd and a ds, so there's not really anything to buy (except a new car seat as we're now in a different country, but I can't really get excited about car seats!). Will wait until the 20 weeks scan hopefully comes back okay and then maybe splash out on few little treat bits so this baby has something of its own!

Focusfocus · 09/04/2015 14:44

Not buying anything except the barest of essentials, and that too not before September. Culture of origin regards buying things before the safe arrival of baby as quite a taboo thing to do, and while I live and work integrated in the west, married to a white British man :) I need to find my balance between the two. So, I've decided to look at stuff in June, short list things, and then end of September place an order for the very basics for Week 1 which is soft usables, bednest and car seat. That's going to be it before the birth. The rest of the stuff will be ready on hold in a basket online, and we will press click for next day delivery once he or she is here, sound and safe.

Hi ladies! I'm still full of the cold, it's horrible!!Confused

Blueblink how long did you scan appt take to come through? I saw the midwife 10 days ago and when I get home from work I'm disappointed a letters not through!

I've not bought anything yet but only because I still don't believe it and I'm also quite superstitious!

Speaking of car seats, those of you in the UK, have you seen the new legislation that's coming into effect in December? The car seat your child is in will depend on its age rather than height/weight which is the case just now! So up until 15 months I think it is, kids are supposed to be in a rear facing seat.....

newbian · 09/04/2015 14:50

I appear to be sporting a small bump. 10+1 and my first pregnancy. This seems way too early! Is it possible I'm further along than I think? Or is this normal?

nehagarg · 09/04/2015 14:54

Check again tomorrow morning newbian ... Every time i have thought i am getting a bump, it has turned out to be bloating and the tummy is flat again in the morning :)

BowiesJumper · 09/04/2015 15:03

I've not had a scan appointment letter through yet either crying and my booking was 9 days ago (I'm 9+5).

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow if it hasn't arrived, just to check I've not been forgotten! I don't want to miss the window for the nuchal test etc. I'm sure I'm just being impatient!

I've got my 16wk midwife appointment already - just not the 12wk scan! HMPH!

One superficial moan - I usually dye my hair (all over dye) and have decided not to dye it (I know it's low risk, but still), at least for the first 12wks, but my God my hair is looking shocking! Ha. I dyed it during my last period (we were ttc so I was just being careful timing it like that), so it's 2 months since I did it. I'm 12wks (all being well) the week before my sister's wedding so will probably dye it just in time for the big day! The roots are ridiculous though.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 09/04/2015 15:34

Re. bump. I am ever so slightly swollen, just the area above my pubic bone. Not enough for anyone else to notice. Second pregnancy, twins this time. 8+5. Everyone is different though! With my first, the swelling there started about 10 weeks but I didn't really have a proper bump until 26 weeks.

LadyStark · 09/04/2015 16:00

Twins? So exciting! I have little sisters who are twins, twins are ace.

I have received my booking in appointment at last (I am 10+2) and it's on a Sunday afternoon! Most odd.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 09/04/2015 16:10

LadyStark, can I all how old you were when your little sisters arrived? My dd will be just 3 and I'm so worried about the huge impact two babies will have on her life and how to ensure she doesn't feel pushed out.
We only planned to have two children so we're a bit thrown to see 2 at my early scan Smile Smile

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 09/04/2015 16:11

*ask

LadyStark · 09/04/2015 16:23

There is quite a big age gap - I was 13!

However, my brother was only 2 when they were born (and a late walker which was a bit of a nightmare!). I don't think he has ever felt left out - the gender may help here, not sure how it would have been if he was a girl.

One of the things that we've observed as they've grown up is that because they are all so close in age it's not the non-twin being left out but often just one of the three. Two out of three - any combination - would play beautifully, chuck another one in and it would descend into usual sibling arguing. I don't know if this is about having three children more than the twin thing though.

TakesTwoToTango · 09/04/2015 16:31

crying rear facing is much safer anyway so I had them even before the legislation change and would throughly recommend it. We had a maxi cosi infant seat first and when they outgrew that moved up to an erf which my son is still in and my daughter lasted in until nearly 4yrs, so well worth it in my view. There are a lot more available now than there were three years ago when I was first looking and the prices have come down a lot too, so don't panic!
