Mine is 2/5ths engaged now squattingNeville too so one more than last week.

SadSadSad cervix still high and thick Sad midwife also reminded me again that as its earlier induction may take longer than with my other two. Feeling very miserable Sad

daholster · 01/04/2015 14:48

Ooh squatting that is exciting! Glad all was ok. I'm doing my lying down. I wonder if he has moved to back to back to I can't feel much. Bump feels v squishy, can't tell where he is! Have just felt a teeny wriggle, was really starting to panic actually when I realised. But then I did get lots of bum and vaginal stabs this morning... But that's not the same as movements is it? Unless he picks up this is very unlike him, usually I'm rubbing my tummy because of feet and bottom and all sorts!

It sounds like dd is trying to dismantle her bed Hmm

Mine does not want to budge has been 3/5th for weeks!! eveything is still firm and high even though they managed to do 2 sweeps it was so bloody painful! See midwife tomorrow will see if she will check if anything has changed!

mswibble · 01/04/2015 15:08

Well I've had a fun packed day ...
This morning there was blood on the loo roll when I went for a wee, bright red fresh blood. Cue panic but I didn't say anything to OH as I was due at the MW anyway.
Took my blood sugars an hour after my breakfast, the exact same breakfast I had yesterday which gave me a result of 7.2. This mornings result? 12.7! How is that even possible?!
Went to the midwife, sugar levels through the roof and mentioned the blood and I thought bambino may not have been moving too much. She sent me straight to triage up at the maternity unit.
Got hooked up to the monitors where of course bambino proceeded to somersault and use my ribs as a trampoline. Had the pleasure of an abdominal examination by a student and then ... the speculum appeared. I had to have swabs and whatnot to check out the source of bleeding and oh sweet Jesus, if my mardiness with the whole internal examination is anything to go by then labour will just finish me off! (Oh and I have been 'saving' my legs so I can have a wax as near to due date as poss so what with the gorilla-ness of my legs and general abandonment of other areas I was mortified at having to whip off everything on the bottom half!)

Thankfully they didn't find anything wrong, baby's heartbeat was fine so I was sent home. I did find out that his head is not engaged at all but he is facing the right way at least. And the cot has been delivered!
I need a nap ....

Wineandchoccy · 01/04/2015 15:12

I am so glad I finish work tomorrow I can't get comfy at all, working from home and I've tried every chair in the house, my ball, I've done phone calls walking around but still my hips and bump ache. 1 day to go and then I can rest.

mswibble · 01/04/2015 15:13

Oh god, just the thought of sweeps has me wincing ...

Glad you got checked out and all is well nev. You know what to do daholster if you are concerned for any reason. My MW reiterated that its changes in movements that need monitoring, not just decreased/increased rates.

mswibble · 01/04/2015 15:17

Woohoo for one more get up wine!, and to be fair if you're anything as fecking lazy like me then your last day will be spent cleaning out your drawers and chatting with colleagues as they wish you good luck!

FiRaffe · 01/04/2015 15:29

Just back from work, sounds like you've all had busy days.

Had a midwife (well doc as midwife couldn't fit me in with easter) today and baby is 1/5 engaged.... well that's what she wrote on my notes but I thought it was the opposite way... could it be she was just backwards because she is a doc?

also anyone know if there is any standard time they push down after they have started to engage?

36+5 today and one day left at work!

I think I have a touch of vaginismus as my my last smear test was agonising and my OH has to be really gentle at first when DTD. It just started happening out of the blue about a year ago and it can take a good 5-10minutes for everything to relax. Hmm

Hidingthefear · 01/04/2015 16:20

Oh daholster what a day!

Good to hear you had a hod midwife appointment rl I kinda wish I knew if ds was engaged at all but on the other hand it's probably better I don't know and then there's no false hope of him coming anytime soon.

Ended up meeting with a friend today and killed some time wandering round shops and having lunch. Found out she's on mumsnet too although don't know her username. She's still ttc but it's only been 9 months and she's been on the pill for years do I'm really hoping it happens soon for her. Tried encouraging her and her DH to quit smoking but her excuse was she doesn't want to quit again now because people will think she's preggers when she's not. Not sure I understand her logic but she's says she'll quit if she gets preg

DH has told me he's taking himself to work tomorrow and wants me to stay home and relax all day. I know he's right but yawn lol x

smogsville · 01/04/2015 16:42

Brumma washing at 60 is probably awful. I boil my whites at 95 though so I am a fully paid up member of the bad launderers club.

London I love your wise old local gent!

Daholster and mswibble you both deserve a serious rest. phew.

Am feeling much better (not 'hungover'!) after a couple of little local potters and a moan session at a friend's while the kids played and scrapped. Now happily in front of frozen with DD and the lame free waitrose kitchen magazine.

daholster · 01/04/2015 16:50

cinnamon I'm sorry. It would be nice if your body played ball but ultimately contractions come on and they hurt and I'm sure its not totally dissimilar, and if you need inducing again its just for the safety of your ds and worse things have happened even though its really disappointing Sad

Baby woke up when I was on the phone to the midwife. Like, proper wriggling. Must have been the adrenaline from feeling so silly ringing! No matter, I don't need to go in and get him checked Smile

daholster · 01/04/2015 16:50

Tea down my front. What a surprise Hmm

daholster · 01/04/2015 17:00

Oh and now tea all over my lap and the settee and more wet knickers and jeans AngryAngryAngry

And dd just sat to do some colouring and has done a poo. I can't face the nappy change, I want to cry, totally unreasonably! Man I am so done on my own!!!!

AnniaFausta · 01/04/2015 17:02

Minipie, if worst comes to worst I will get one of my parents to come and oversee the carpet!! After all this palaver it's bloody well being fitted on the 16th...

daholster, Brew Another one of those days.

Oh, mswibble, the nap sounds well deserved! Glad nothing was wrong in the end, but you could have done without that!

Have been for hopefully the last Mothercare run before the baby arrives to pick up nursing bras and a comfy nursing pillow. Have decided against getting a breast pump just yet as we'll see how BF goes and whether I need one (and if I do, that's what internet next day delivery is for). Got wincing pain in hip flexor whilst standing in the pump aisle, which was a tad embarrasing... I'm also now getting pain across the front of the hips, like a wire drawn between hip joints under the bump, which has only been happening the last few days. No idea where that's come from, so I suspect judicious use of the cold pack is in order. Don't think the baby's going to be too keen, but not much you can do. Also suspect the baby's swung back-to-back again after swapping sides completely earlier this afternon, so I see lots of leaning forward in my future.

Hehe Squatting, at least as long as it's in your home no-one can comment!

AnniaFausta · 01/04/2015 17:25

...alright, the baby is all about the massive movements today and is certainly readjusting position quite actively. And here was me all smug that they were in the right position for labour! Fingers crossed they find their way back around again pretty quickly. I'm wondering if it's because I've spent quite a bit of time driving the car over the last couple of days, but I suspect it's more likely to be 'babies, they move, who knows their mysterious ways' job.

daholster · 01/04/2015 17:28

Thanks annia but I had better not have any more tea, it will just end up somewhere it shouldn't!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/04/2015 17:32

They usually write how much is palpable on your notes FiRaffe, so if 2/5ths palpable it's 3/5ths engaged.

Mine was quite uncomfortable today SqauttingNeville, s&s not internal though. I thought evening primrose oil wasn't recommended during pregnancy?

Thanks daholster, it's not the contractions I'm worried about it's the monitoring once induced really and not being able to have a water birth. There are worse things it's true but 3 out of 3 seems so unfair! Plus the midwife today reconfirmed my fear that it may take longer to work as my other two were 13 days over so even though it only took one gel with them this time is likely to be more. When I only have 3 weeks off I don't want several days of that to be in labour! Once your dh is home tonight is that it until baby is here or is back to Edinburgh after Easter?

Lauren82000 · 01/04/2015 17:42

Sakura mines been 3/5 engaged since 34 weeks and this is my second so I'm not quite convinced this one is going to pop in and out as hasn't shown any signs of doing that as of yet. Wink Still think I'm ROA though, I know you can still deliver that way but LOA is better? Personally I don't understand it I mean do you have extra bone protrusions or something on the right side that get in the way?

Anyway had mildish fanny daggers and period pain all day on and off. Going to get my curry started in a bit. Hopefully it'll help to get things moving.

Lauren82000 · 01/04/2015 17:43

Stupid autocorrect I meant Skyra.
