I got swim nappy, reusable nappy, massive box of wipes, (wipes are wipes in my opinion) , vests, bibs, and bottles. Think that was all. I forgot nappy sacks. I wanted some of those as well. And I wanted bepanthen cream but forgot that too. I don't like the smell of sudacrem lol.

Feeling much better today. Still not 100% so decided just to take the whole week off. Need the rest etc. Which means only 5 more weeks left in work whoop. Literally can't wait.

I was pleasantly surprised that stock levels were good but then I was in there about 10am! Smile

I am team yellow so had to resist anything pink or blue so could have gone mad!

Have you all heard of the website bumdeal which tells you where cheap nappies and wipes are. I worked out and could be wrong that the Aldi wipes were cheap but not quite as cheap as others so decided to hold off just now. I do have about 20 packs already in the store room haha!

Definitely nesting as I took everything out of baby's today and refolded all baby grows and took tags off everything and restocked the wipes and lotions we have all neat and tidy so the changing unit is less of a dumping ground and more organised!
I'm only 26 weeks haha!

frolic do you actually eat sponges? Is that only since becoming preggers? Bless you!

ChanceBeAFineThing · 28/05/2015 16:58

Looks like I was quite reserved in only buying a changing mat and the box of wipes! Did make me laugh at the amount of pregnant people in Aldi today though. Have everything else in the loft, just haven't got it down yet.

When you get round to packing hospital bags, pack them so you have everything you want, then unpack them and get your DP/DH to repack it as they will be the ones rooting through the bag finding maternity pads/nappies/ baby grows and it is so much easier if they know what these items are, and where they put them!

Frolicacid · 28/05/2015 17:02

Yes red Blush, I've been having massive cravings for sponges the past few weeks! I'm not actually swallowing them because I realise they wouldn't do me, or my constipation, any good. But I really want to!!
I've done some googling and it's not uncommon in pregnancy. They call it pics, and it's basically a craving to eat things that aren't food. The things people crave are very strange. I'm just glad all I want is sponge, rather than Cigarette butts / ash like some people. It can be a sign of deficiency.

ChanceBeAFineThing · 28/05/2015 17:02

Oh and I'm still waiting for the physio appointment to come through for my spd. I'm pretty much house bound now and can walk about 10 m, which is no fun. Aldi took it out of me this morning (luckily a friend is bringing dinner round for me and the kids, and help put them bed as DH back late from work tonight)

Frolicacid · 28/05/2015 17:45

They call it pica, NOT pics!

That sounds crap chance. I hope you get the physio appt soon. Your friend sounds like a life saver.

Sorry for the mega posting - I'm bored at the hairdressers!

Redsparklyshoes · 28/05/2015 18:25

Oh bless you frolic I hope you are at the hairdressers treating yourself!
At least there are no calories in sponges! I have eaten so much crap Since being pg!
Yes a lot of pregnant people in Aldi today and people going crazy buying the lot! The changing mats were v good value but I have one already but one lady had a few in her trolley (supermarket sweep came to mind)!
Baby made me jump earlier with big kicks, really enjoying those!
DH pleased with my Aldi purchases and I'm proud I didn't go too OTT!

OMC1 · 29/05/2015 08:45

Hi, ElleyBear13 welcome back and congrats on your little boy!

Red I am so jealous of your babymoon - have an amazing time! We are team yellow too - it's so hard to find nice neutral things, but I have a few lovely bits and pieces tucked away!

Glad everyone got some bargains at the Aldi baby event, I didn't go in the end as have had a massive spending spree recently, and haven't sat down and made a proper list of what's left to buy! Didn't want to end up spending a load of money on things we won't use!

Frolic I have heard from other moms that the Aldi wipes are very good, but I am holding off buying too many as not sure how baby's skin will react to different brands - Hubby has very sensitive skin and eczema so playing it safe in case baby does too.

Is anybody able to tell where/how their babies are lying? My bump sometimes goes into all sorts of weird shapes (cone shaped this morning!!!), and sometimes I can feel hard little parts close to the 'surface' but can't tell what's what! I get kicks and punches in all sorts of places so I presume baby still has room to move around...

ruby242 · 29/05/2015 11:12

Ooh im jealous of you all going to Aldi, I saw the bargains online but we have no Aldi near us :(

Have fun in Greece red, one of my favourite places to go to!

Omc I think my baby is laying transverse across me as I almost always only feel kicks on the side. I also only feel kicks fairly low, never really above my belly button-don't know if that's normal?

Have started painting the nursery now which is exciting-hopefully get some more done this weekend :) Feeling really over work and just wanting to be on maternity leave!!

mzzzf · 29/05/2015 19:19

#rant warning#

Well not a rant per se more an offload but I just feel so very emotional today. Several things have set me off with proper big tears. Ordinarily I'm not a teary or downbeat person at all but I feel so upset today. And the thing is I can't even pinpoint it to any one thing.
Of course in missing DH as he's away but 2 weeks is nothing compared to some of the separations we've had, plus I'm busy so not say pining for him.
I don't know if this is just another joyful pregnancy symptom but my goodness I'm a real fun-sponge today (don't chew me frolic!!).

I'm actually glad my mum is out tonight as it means I can just be a bit miserable and hopefully get it out of my system. Anyone else feeling like this?!

Oooorrrffft thanks for the offload ladies, I'm sure it's just a passing phase... Hopefully chocolate will help!

ruby242 · 29/05/2015 21:35

Mzzf sorry you're feeling so emotional-it is definitely the pregnancy hormones! Yesterday I almost cried out in public over something so silly...half an hour later I was fine!! Definitely just let it out, have some chocolate and early night in bed and you will probably be back to normal tomorrow :)

PerpetualSummer · 29/05/2015 23:17

Hi All

Haven't been on for a while so just caught up on all the pages I missed. Sorry to all those who are feeling unwell. I definitely get legs cramps in the morning and wake up screaming. Thinking I should try a bath with Epsom salts.

It has been super busy few weeks. We had a leak from our upstairs neighbour so need to get that fixed. We've also had an offer accepted on a house so dealing with lawyers and surveyors at the moment and can't remember who said it but yes there seems to be a lot of appointments at the moment. I try to Make my appointments for first thing in the morning which means I actually get to sleep in!

For those looking at nurseries - I've been looking and making lists already. There was a nursery I looked at back in March and they already had waiting lists into the summer of 2016. I've already put the baby on a waiting list for a nursery that he/she could only start at 2 years so need to find one that the baby can go to when I go back to work.

I'm going to be 30 weeks this weekend. Really need to get sorted and start to buying stuff!

Mzzf - sorry you are feeling emotional. My OH has been away for a few days as well. Chocolate always helps!

Dozygirl · 30/05/2015 00:03

Mzzf sending u hugs and hope u feel better soon. I was the grumpiest hungry pregnant wOman today when we went out for dinner. Almost felt like going on a rampage but but juse snapped at dp instead. Was fine once I'd got my food lol. Except then I felt major uncomfortable on the seat as it waant the right height so bump was uncomfortable.

I had no idea which way baby was lying until my 28 week midwife appt and she said she's head down and normal way round but I can sometimes feel something way down low in my crotch and then all over the place higher up. Think she just likes having a good wriggle because it's never in the same place.

Ruby I'd quite happily not go back to work now! Only five weeks to go but I'm dreading those 5 weeks. Ended up being off sick this week and im so glad I did because I was just so shattered and weary feeling. Plus it has been mega busy at work so I would have been on my feet all shift with no breaks and off late so I would have come out of it even worse. Still not feeling 100% but back Monday so will see how I feel by end of the weekend

It's a friends 30th bday this weekend so need to get in the celebrating mood tomorrow. Not looking forward to it particularly. Surprising her with a cocktail making class which is not much fun for me. Managed to get a cheaper deal for me to have mocktails but what fun is it to mix a few juices together. Juice is juice. Plus the other pregnant girl who was meant to be coming has been having tightenings and signs of early labour so she's not coming anymore so I'll be the only sober one. Don't want to ruin her birthday though.

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 30/05/2015 10:53

I actually hate the hairdressers
red! Sitting in front of a mirror for hours makes me feel really uncomfortable. And I had to leave with wet hair because I was feeling sick and couldn't sit for the blow dry! The joys!!

Thanks for the wipes info OMC. I might see if they have any left.
I can't tell which way baby is lying, but I think he's still got room to go all sorts of ways. Sometimes he's up high, sometimes he's low and often both. He also does this thing where he seems to push his bum out towards my belly button. It almost makes it pop and hurts loads. Then he'll do a big flip and it's back to being an innie.

Sorry you are feeling emotional mzzf. I'm in tears very often as well.

I hope you're feeling better and manage to enjoy tonight dozy.

We're both off for a week now. Probably for the last time as a couple!! Operation empty junk from spare room starts as soon as I drag myself out of bed.
Happy Saturday everyone Smile

Dozygirl · 30/05/2015 19:19

Actually looking forward to tonight now. My friend is such a cutie pie and we've been giving her little surprises all week and she's just so excited so I can't not be glad to be joining in now despite initial reservations. I might not have as much fun because I can't drink the cocktails but to see her happy smiley face makes it worth it. We surprised her by getting her hair done into curls at hairdresser today ready for tonight and she just loved it so it's made me smile too.

On a side note, why did my arms have to get fat as well as the rest of me? I hate having to feel self conscious and cover them up but i don't feel comfortable enough having them on display. Might have to if it gets warm in the bar though :(

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 31/05/2015 11:24

I hope you had a good time last night dozy. What you're doing for your friend sounds really thoughtful and fun.

We've moved the bed from the spare room into the office and thrown loads of stuff away. Now we have an empty spare room to fill with baby stuff! I'm getting a bit obsessed with clearing and sorting. Nesting maybe? Dh is a hoarder, so one of us has to be ruthless.

Today I'm going to do big Amazon and ikea orders. Then I think that, apart from bits for the hospital bags, we've got everything we need!
Have a good Sunday everyone Smile

Fanby · 31/05/2015 17:01

Another weekend gone! Can't believe i'm now 29(+1), next week is the big 3-0! Shock How quickly has it gone!! I got a letter from Kings yesterday calling me in for the gtt test on Wednesday (which means i'll miss yoga Sad). Bit scared actually as I thought I was getting away with not having it. I wonder whether it's a consequence of my blood tests that I had the other day? Glad it's not too bad though, thanks for the tips mzzzf, totally taking a book and with me!!
Healthwise I managed to get to the doctors on Friday and they've given me antibiotics. Cough isn't budging though and its really frustrating and pretty sore.

Frolic Well done on the nesting!! You sound proper proactive!! Use that burst of energy :D

How you feeling Dozy? I'm so glad you had fun last night!! Any interesting mocktail recipes you can share with us?! :D I bet your arms are lovely! I've always suffered with a bit of chub on my upper arm :) Release them!!

Redsparklyshoes GREECE! You lucky thing!! One of my favourite places!! Mmmm feta cheese ;)

Lilydreams hope you got lots of revision done this weekend!

mzzzf I've definitely been more emotional this last week, very hormonal and lots of tears. I hope you're feeling a little brighter. Oh the things post pregnancy re: body back – I want to be able to launch myself forward and jump on the bed, sleep in position not on my side, roll over in bed without having to do it in stages, fit into my old clothes...

ChanceBeAFineThing Great idea on getting DH to repack the hospital bag, definitely going to do that...once we get around to packing a bag ;) hope your physio appointment has come through!!

ruby242 All my kicks are low, under belly button! I'm not concerned :S

My mum is coming to stay tomorrow, I believe she may have picked me up some Aldi bargains :D EXCITED FACE :). We've also done a lot this weekend. Yesterday I decided to build the chest of drawers which the changing mat will go on top of. I'm so chuffed with myself as I did it all and it's really solid, DH was so shocked when he got back from work. Then this morning we (ok mainly him), put the cot together, the drop down side works really well so very happy...ALTHOUGH of course it does not fit in the room the way I wanted it too GRRRR. It was like the comical Friends episode PIVOT PIVOT!! BUT it does work, and it'll give us easier access to the window so i'm thinking of the positives! Excuse the crap on the shelves and the laundry bin etc but here's a little photo of the smallest nursery in the world lol :) xx

August 2015 part 3
Dozygirl · 31/05/2015 20:00

Awww it's lovely fanby.

I also want to be able to wall at my normal marching pace and not end up with crippling groin pain afterwards haha. My friend said earlier in the day that she was impressed that i still managed to walk faster than her even though pregnant but later that night i suffered for it lol.

Babies been a little quiet today. I never know when u should start getting concerned about it. I have been asleep for most of afternoon though after yesterday's late night, so she could have been mega active at that point for all i know.

Had a 13 month old round to play this morning while her parents went surfing with my dp so that was fun. The bargain bag of toys I bought of a friend recently came in very useful.

Hope everyone else has had a lovely weekend. I'm definitely not nesting yet frolic but u sound like you've done well.

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 31/05/2015 21:17

I can't seem to stop clearing, sorting and throwing things away! Good job we've got a week off as it's going to take a few days to get through it all.

The room looks fab fanby! Well done on the drawers. I love building flat pack furniture.

Glad you managed a good night dozy. I'm not sure about reduced movements. The advice is so confusing. Maybe being asleep means you haven't felt as much? Try some lemonade if you can? That always works for my sugar feind. And don't be afraid to call the midwife / hospital etc if you don't think things are ok.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I'm stupidly excited at not having work tomorrow Smile

Dozygirl · 31/05/2015 23:25

I had some cake and it woke her up phew. U just hear so much about reduced foetal movement that it plays on your mind a bit but I reckon she's ok. I'm so ready for this to all be over and we finally have our babies! Although I'm sure the worry won't stop then lol.

OP posts:
pinkie87 · 01/06/2015 08:45

I'm back from a short absense! Had a week off work and filled it with lots of friends and family things, but gutted to be back at work today. 9 weeks to go! :(

Haven't caught up on everything yet and have just skimmed, but fanby I could give you a run for you money on the world's smallest nursery! It looks lovely though.

Feeling very heavy of late (27+3 now) and getting from horizontal to vertical is proving more challenging each day! Still enjoying yoga though and the hip pain is not so bad EVERY day, just have some bad days now, so I can't complain really!

mzzzf · 01/06/2015 09:24

Frolic you are nesting like a good'un!! I really need to have a big house clear out when DH gets back as I don't want to move a load of unwanted stuff with us. It feels weirdly liberating chucking stuff out, doesn't it?!
Fanby - you're nursery looks so lovely. I'm jealous! With having to move straight after the birth I can't get a room for her all organised and made up. She'll be a bit of a 'littlest hobo' to begin her life with moving up the country, staying at other people's houses and in hotels. At least the moses basket is portable!
Dozy - glad you rocked the birthday celebrations for your friend. I've been finding myself increasingly antisocial as I literally cannot be bothered to go out. So props to you missus! And I'm the same with movements, I do try and keep a track during the day and mentally think 'have I felt her in the last few hours?' If I'm not sure I drink or eat something sweet, lie down on my left and just hone into her. You're meant to give it 2 hours to see movement. It's helped me not freak out. Especially since I found out she's breech and kicks are harder to feel - so I'm constantly checking! Nightmare isn't it!!! I know im going to be one of those mothers who sit and watch during the night to check she's breathing! ARGH!
Pinkie - the heaviness is draining isn't it?!! Not long to go now though. Just think, our babies can legitimately be born from 35 weeks onwards - arrrrrrrgh!! Smile

Is anyone having a baby shower? My friend suggested having one but I'm really not sure. It feels like I'm asking for gifts etc and feels a bit cheeky. Which is silly as if never think that if I was a guest to one... Thoughts?

pinkie87 · 01/06/2015 12:02

mzzf yes I'm having one. I wasn't going to but I've been informed my friends are planning one! I do feel a bit weird about it, but it seems among people I know that they are becoming SO common now, maybe it's not as "grabby" as I feel it may look!

happygojo · 01/06/2015 12:24

I am having a baby shower. I think they CAN be grabby, but I organised one for my friend last year and now she is returning the favour and it wasn't grabby at all. Just like a really tame hen do where you eat lots of cake, play a few silly games and have a catch up with your friends all at once. I have made it clear that I am not expecting gifts off anyone, and would rather them be there. I have no idea where mine is but guessing it will possibly be someone's house or somewhere that does afternoon tea. I am actually quite excited about it.

Frolicacid · 01/06/2015 15:00

Glad baby did some jiggles for you dozy. Cake has so many wonderous benefits! I totally hear you on the wanting this to be over now.

Yes to feeling heavy mzzf. I sat on the floor sorting some stuff out yesterday and getting up was a mission. Sleeping comfortably is getting trickier as well.

I'm really enjoying having a big sort out. I've been feeling good and not been sick for a few days, so getting things done while I can. Dh thinks I'm crazy - I bet he's wishing I was back to being sleepy, sick and unable to do anything. But as we're both off work and the weather is rotten, he can't argue!

I just had my whooping cough jab. A bit stingy, but not bad. She said it shouldn't make me feel ill as it's not a live vaccine.
