Hope everyone had a lovely long weekend - didn't it go fast!?

Yes, happygojo I am feeling really pregnant and very slow - and still with 12 weeks left to get bigger! I have to do the shopping and get it home on the bus, the walk from the stop home is taking me longer and longer - I so wish I could drive!

According to the pregnancy app I have, baby is about 2.5lbs, feels MUCH heavier than that, though!

Dozy and Frolic I hope you both feel better soon.

Yes to feeling paranoid about movements - to be fair, usually I have quite an active little one, so most the time I am reassured, but its the quiet periods that really freak me out - I read the Count The Kicks website, and to be honest the founder's sad story has stuck in my head more than I'd like to admit. What do "reduced movements" mean - fainter feeling, less often or none for ages?! It's so worrying isn't it!?

I think I have been getting the Braxton Hicks too, my whole belly goes really tight and I'm almost ground to a halt. Doesn't happen very often though - at the moment!

Lilydreams · 26/05/2015 17:10

Happy- yes I'm struggling with the shopping! Last few weeks I've been going after yoga in an evening when I'm already out but make sure I time getting home for when DH is in from work so he unloads the car and puts it all away! Dreading how I'm going to feel in a few more weeks time and I'm working till 38 weeks, although can't really call it work as I can't do my normal job pg so just stuck in an office doing bits and bobs as there isn't officially a job for me! Can't complain! I am finding it harder and harder to get up off the couch as the weeks go on though! Blush

Ohhhh OMC- how many weeks are you now? I've been wondering when BH might start- I'm kinda intrigued to know what these little hints at labour pain feel like! Is that weird!?

Frolicacid · 26/05/2015 17:54

Thanks dozy and OMC. My cold is much better today, thank god!

I'm also feeling very pregnant and cumbersome all of a sudden! Carrying anything is difficult and I get quite breathless quickly. My bump feels huge and in the way. I drive a lot for work and am going to have to move the steering wheel soon!

I think I'm having Braxton hicks lily. I'm 27 weeks now. My bump goes all hard and uncomfortable for a minute or so. They're not very painful, but not pleasant either. I find it happens when I'm tired, desperate for a wee, or (TMI alert) after I've orgasmed Blush - I recommend you try the latter to see what it does!!

I hope everyone had a good Tuesday. I keep forgetting it's not Monday and feeling quite chuffed when I remember.

Fanby · 26/05/2015 18:23

Hello! Happy Tuesday to you all – although by the sounds of it we're all suffering...except you and your orgasms Frolic ;) i'm just jelous as DH won't partake and we have not.had.sex.this.year...Seriously girls get ready for a rant i'm not in the best of moods...

I too have the lurgy. We went to a wedding on Saturday (my first sober one!!) and I STUPIDLY wore heels and forgot to take flats. My legs were killing, I was tired, and i'm still suffering now. Must have picked up some germ or other, I have a horrendous cough and sound like I smoke 80 a day, my throat is sore and i'm generally a grouch bag. Literally the last week (maybe two) have been the worst yet I think. Second trimester 'glow' (if I had it) has well and truly passed. Oh and our horrific upstairs 'neighbours' (the most unneighbourly people you can ever imagine) are starting work on the roof – was supposed to be Thursday yet they turned up at 6pm today and are now proceeding to put it up...they caught the pregnant hormonal wrath of mine. I'm f*cking livid tbh....I could go on and on but I bore myself and sound like a broken record.

Frolic We just went for a little cot, Saplings Jessica, fingers crossed it fits! Across various websites the measurements differ so i'm really hoping it does :S! We'll no doubt have a b*tch putting it together and then it won't...I just can't think about it right now!
I really like the Jane Trider pram you've gone for, have added it to my list, hope you don't mind :D Glad you're feeling better too!

sianihedgehog What a bargain on your cot!! It sounds amazing that the side tucks under – reminds me of the oven doors on Great British Bake Off! :)

mzzzf You should totally take the pregnancy bed extensions on Dragons Den :D Myself and DH aren't the biggest of people but with all the cushions and the 3 point turns I have to make to roll over I keep apparently squishing him. Hope you're not missing your DH too much and you're having a lovely time with your mum.

You all seem to know so much about your hospitals/maternity units! I'm completely clueless! Tomorrow i'm going to the first (of 4) antenatal classes at my doctors surgery run by the midwife team. I think the last one is an evening session at King's Hospital so I guess I can have a look around then – hope it's as nice as the units you all describe!

Urgh, had enough today. Might go run and a bath and eat my weight in chocolate. DH is out tonight so in fact I'm going to eat all the crap I can lay my hands on...adieu! xx

Fanby · 26/05/2015 19:15

Me again! Phoned my mum and ranted at her :D We don't have an Aldi near us, but mum mentioned that they're having a baby even starting Thursday (might be next Thursday!!) - not sure if anyone is interested but looks like there are bargains to be had so thought i'd share just in case…

sianihedgehog · 26/05/2015 21:01

Well, I'm officially getting forced to slow down now. I'm still okay with the shopping, but I went and did a disco flashmob this weekend and an afternoon of dancing has UTTERLY BROKEN ME. my hips are pure agony, and I was in too much pain to sleep. :( limping about like an old lady now.
I've started getting my room ready for the baby now - I don't think there's much chance of us buying a house and moving in the 10.5 weeks remaining, so I'm just going to assume I'll be here. Cleared a bunch of space on shelves for baby things and got a bunch of wee storage bins for everything. I still hardly have any stuff, but this is a step in the right direction!!

Frolicacid · 26/05/2015 22:23

fanby, no need to feel envious. We have barely dtd this year as well. Nausea + rhythmic movement don't go. But, my old practice nurse used to go on and on about orgasms being great for strengthening the pelvic floor for childbirth, so I can't believe I'm admitting this I make sure that, one way or another, I do some 'strengthening exercises' regularly.
Sorry about your lurgy and your neighbours. Not what you need right now. It's really crap not being able to take anything stronger than paracetamol.
We really liked the trider when we saw it in the shop. It's not super light, but not bad for an all terrain. And we both love the idea of the lie flat car seat / carry cot combo. We have ordered an overnight mattress as well so will use it instead of a Moses basket to save some room.

I love that you were in a flash mob siani! That's super cool! I've never seen one and would love to. Sorry that you're suffering now though. Hopefully a nice soak in the bath will ease your muscles.
I'm sorry about the house thing too. So stressful. 10.5 weeks left isn't much time at all! You will need to start nesting soon. How exciting!

Lilydreams · 27/05/2015 07:14

Frolic- that's cool you've felt BH too- 29 weeks here and still nothing, although I have read that some women don't notice them until they are pointed out! My initial reaction to reading your post was same as Fanby's but then I see you say you've barely dtd too so I feel better! Think we've managed 6 times since we found out we were expecting!! Not that I'm counting Hmm! Haha! It's mainly down to me tbh- was too sick up until 21 weeks and now I feel massive! I can't believe some people who carry on as normal, several times a week- or so they say! I just can't imagine being up for it that much! After the rabbittness of ttc too I suppose it's not surprising to feel a bit of a let down!

Siani- sorry about the moving/ not moving stress! Know how you feel- we are buying a new build and they keep changing the move in date- from end of July (12 days before DD) to end of June and then the last we heard was 'julyish'- well that's mightily helpful isn't it!! Trying to just go with the flow and see the positives- at least I'll have finished work if it's end of July and I can potter around the house organising it!

Best go get ready for work! Get today out of the way and I've got a week and a half off yippee!!

happygojo · 27/05/2015 09:37

I have had one definite BH, it was just after DTD (which is a mighty rare occurrence these days) and it started when my OH made me laugh, and the BH made laughing hurt which made me laugh more.

Off work tomorrow for my lucazade challenge and then a trip to Aldi to buy some bargins. I am quite excited. I am also going to start my hospital bag shopping at the weekend.... eeeek!

Sorry to all about the moving/not moving stress. I moved house last year and it is so stressful without baby stress too!

6 weeks til I finish work or 23 working days, I seriously can't wait. I only have 2 full time weeks before I go down to 3 days a week. It feels quite strange as I will be finishing full time work for the foreseeable future.... years in fact!

OMC1 · 27/05/2015 12:30

Lily I am 28+5 now (oh my god, where has that gone!) Not weird at all - I as quite excited to feel them too, although they are a bit of a pain - literally and figuratively! I think I am quite strange, as I am actually quite looking forward to labour!

Fanby Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a bad time at the moment- I hope the bath and chocolate helped! I don't know anything about my hospital/maternity unit so you're not the only one, I feel like I should be doing loads more preparation than I actually am!

This week colleagues have been kindly telling me I look massive this week, and "can I even get any bigger!?". So helpful of them...

Fanby · 27/05/2015 16:40

Afternoon! In a better mood today (may have something to do with the biscuit consumption!). Hope you told your colleagues to F* OFF omc :)

Siani FLASHMOB!! You're amazing! I've always loved watching the videos on youtube – was it amazing?? Definitely tough to buy and move in that time, you sound positive in your nesting! We've hardly bought anything either, keep telling myself there is masses of time :)

Haha Frolic/Lily glad it's not just us in the bedroom department then ;)
How frustrating that they can't give you a move in date Lily, again you sound laid back and positive about it all which is only a good thing!

So just back from my first antenatal class at the doctors. There were far more people there than I expected, and lots of dads which surprised me as it was from 2-4pm. As we've signed up for NCT I went purely to see if I could make some local friends but doesn't look like it'll be the case tbh due to the set up. It was really interesting, was on normal/regular births, what to expect in labour etc, when to call the midwife and there was a hysterical 80s video of a lady giving birth. The only thing that I found out which is disappointing is that all of the midwives that i've been seeing (and will see) are 90% unlikely to be with me at the birth as they're just too busy. I was a bit gutted to find that out but can't be helped!
My cough has got really annoying and the midwife said I need to see a GP, can't get an appointment until the 15th June so will have to ring tomorrow and see if I can get a cancellation.
Chilled evening in tonight, fingers crossed DH will be home at a normal hour!
Lots of happy pregnancy vibes to all you girls and bumps! x

Redsparklyshoes · 27/05/2015 18:44

Good evening all!
Not been about much as been a tad hectic at work and they've been awful and unsupportive so I've had a few "rest" days and working from home days.
I enjoyed an Aquafit class this morning and have nested this afternoon by dusting, hoovering (even moving the bed and sofa!) and ironing!
I have my diabetes test in the morning and hoping that's all ok.
Feeling like a beached whale right now which is hard as I used to be fit and active and watched my figure. Since finding out in PG I've just eaten a load of chocolate ice cream and crisps! Oops!
8 weeks left at work for me and I can't wait. A baby moon in 3 weeks which im also so excited about!
I hope you all have your feet up!!
Flowers

Lilydreams · 27/05/2015 21:23

Happy- jealous your starting your hospital bag shopping this weekend- I'm going to start mine next weekend as I'm mega busy till then! Can't wait to get all my lists together and shop and organise it all with nothing else on my mind once my exam is done in Tuesday!

OMC- your not the only one- I am actually looking forward to labour too!! I'm sure this will come back to bite me in the bum but I kind of see it as a challenge!! And I love a good challenge!

Red- sorry you've had a rubbish time at work! I know how you feel about previously being really fit and active- midwife weighed me last week (28 weeks) and I've put in 1 and 3/4 stone Shock I was gutted especially when I consider I lost a pound in first 12 weeks!! But she said as long as bmi hasn't gone up from booking app by more than 8 points then it's fine and mine had gone up 4! (Got a feeling I've already posted about this but can't remember.... Baby brain!!)

Frolicacid · 27/05/2015 22:01

lily, good luck with the exam and enjoy your time off work. I'm off next week as well. I've got loads to do before then, but I can't wait for a break. We will do hospital bag shopping as well. Just the toiletries, so dh doesn't have to panic buy maternity pads etc if things go early.

I'm one week behind you to finish work happy. I have been a bit worried about it as my career is quite important to me. But each day I care a bit less and I'm starting to really look forward to finishing now.

My colleagues are still going on about my bump every fucking day fanby, so you have my full sympathy. I've tried to politely tell them I don't enjoy the comments, but they keep coming. I feel a big strop coming on soon.

Glad you are feeling better today fanby. But make sure you get that cough seen to soon. That can't be comfortable.

Nice to hear from you red. I have mostly been existing on junk food as well. Are you going anywhere nice for your baby moon?

I hope everyone is ok and that all the glucose tests are fine.
My baby is lying very uncomfortably, so I'm tucked up in bed early with mumsnet and a sponge to chew on Smile

mzzzf · 27/05/2015 22:11

Still going strong on the sponges eh frolic?! The thought of chow ing down on a sponge makes my teeth itch! Smile

Re: DTD my DH and I haven't done it once since we found out I was up duffed - not fucking once!!!! ARGH! It's been a long time coming, but he can't seem to mentally get his head round it. Thank goodness for DIY Wink

I'm going to get the hospital bag squared away once DH is back and get it all sorted by the time I'm 34 weeks (in a fortnights time!).

Is anyone else here on mini aspirin? I've been taking it since around 20 weeks but now I've come to the end of the packet I feel like I don't want to continue with it. Especially with the lovely things it can do for you whilst in labour. Any thoughts ladies?! I've only been put on it due to BMI.

Re the GTTs they are a doddle but bloody boring! The drink was like a very thick Apple juice thing and then just loads of waiting. Take a book! Grin I'm sure you'll all be grand anyway.

I think my bump has moved again, but still think she's breech and the kicks are still inwards - we'll see!!

Dozygirl · 28/05/2015 06:48

Phew glad I'm not the only one who's not dtd since getting pregnant. I just haven't had the energy. I tried once but just couldn't get in the mood.

Haven't had much energy last couple of days to write a message. After a day of sickness Monday I felt better Tuesday so resumed at work then woke up Wednesday feeling terrible again So ended up ringing in sick again. Felt guilty but there was no way I could have worked a nightshift yesterday. Woken up feeling hungry today so I'm taking that as a good sign. I don't even know what was wrong with me, I just didn't feel right.

Had 28 week appointment Yesterday. Mine don't weigh me thank goodness but I know I've put 2 stone on. Had put more on but lost a few pounds due to sickness This week. Bump measuring just fine and she's head down so it must be her legs that I can feel kicking me all over the place. She's always lazy first thing in the morning. I wake up and want to know she's ok but she doesn't move straight away. Had a high BP again yesterday but I wasn't surprised about it this time because I wasn't feeling well. Midwife wasn't too concerned, just said to go back in 2 weeks.

Off to aldi today to see what deals I can find. Hope they have decent stuff at my aldi. If not might have to venture into next town.

Hope you're all ok. Getting ever so closer to the finish line whoohoo.

OP posts:
Redsparklyshoes · 28/05/2015 07:18

Thanks Frolic and Dozy Smile

I'm off to Greece for our baby moon! Smile

Re DTD I also can count on half of one hand since becoming pregnant. Poor DH!
Really enjoying being at home and my career choice has changed considerably! Bring on the mat leave!

Good reminder on the Aldi sale! I'm after a pregnancy pillow! Shall pop in after the hospital! Need to fast till 930! Considering my appetite this is soooo hard!!

I've also had the comments at work!
"Oh aren't you small for 6 months"
"Blimey you are huge your baby is going to be massive"
Grrrrr

Have a lovely sunny day all! Flowers

Augustwedding · 28/05/2015 07:53

DH just gone out the door to aldi!

Joskar · 28/05/2015 08:02

Anyone else using a Dream Genii?

Augustwedding · 28/05/2015 08:13

Yes, I find it helpful for propping up bump!

mzzzf · 28/05/2015 08:58

ARGH! There's no Aldi local to my mum's, probably a good thing otherwise I'll spend money I probably shouldn't!

No joskar not using a dream genii, so far I've been ok with a normal long body pillow but will be buying a nursing pillow. Can the dream genii be used for nursing too?

Oh dozy hope you get back to 'normal' soon. I'm so glad I'm not having to do shifts, I think working in an office is one but working on wards when you're pregnant is totally another thing!!

Anyone else looking forward to getting their body back? I don't mean Uber weight loss and the like post birth, I just mean being able to walk, roll in bed, sit down etc without being a bit lumbering ball! I can't wait to sleep on my back Grin

sianihedgehog · 28/05/2015 09:35

OMC, lily, I'm kind of looking forward to it, too! I love a really grim endurance challenge, and I think I'm kind of seeing it like that, too.

joskar I've got one of the Sangol maternity pillows off Amazon. It's WONDERFUL. I tried just using a pile of regular pillows over the weekend and slept like crap!
mzzf I want my body back SO BADLY. I usually sleep on my face - no chance of that! And I want to go back to having small boobs. And I want to be able to run up stairs again, and walk at a decent pace! And pee only once a night. AND HAVE A COMFORTABLE POO.

Just hit up the Aldi baby sale before work, spent over £60 but I actually think that I have all the basics now! There was a proper mob of ladies with bumps stocking up!

ElleyBear13 · 28/05/2015 09:56

Heyoo ladies I haven't checked in this thread for weeks! Now 27+2, expecting a little boy. Hows everyone coping? I too am looking forward to sleeping on my back and being able to walk!! Although some days it feels like the pregnancy is going way to quicky esp when I see December/january clubs popping up on here! Very very excited to hold him and give him a 'proper' cuddle! xxx

Redsparklyshoes · 28/05/2015 10:44

I also got some good bargains in Aldi. 3 Muslins should have been £3.29 but receipt showed 99p! A booster chair suitable to travel with for a bargain of £10.99! Some nappy bags for 80p and a nice soft blanket for £3. The best bit was a v shape pillow for £5.99! V happy!! :)

Frolicacid · 28/05/2015 15:01

I'm still loving the sponges mzzf! I'm limiting myself to only chomping at home so I day dream about them all day at work. The urge to swallow is very strong, but I'm resisting. I also had a massive urge to grab a mouthful of sand on the beach earlier this week!! So strange! I obviously resisted, but my mouth was watering.

I know what you mean about getting your body back. I feel like my body has been taken over since very early on with all the sickness. And now the bump is getting in the way of simple tasks like putting on shoes.

I hope you're feeling better today dozy?

Very envious of your Greek holiday red. I hope you have a lovely time.

Welcome back elley!

So it looks like we've all hit the baby event at aldi. I popped in at lunch time and spent £60! Loads of stuff, changing mats, muslins, toys, dummies, blanket, vests, trousers, socks. I also got some leggings to try. Does anyone know what their wipes are like? I may have to go back if they're any good.

Have a good day everyone Smile
