Evening all!! I survived 30 hours away from dh! I think he probably enjoyed the break. I had a lovely time catching up with my friend. I was a bit sick last night and uncomfortable driving home today, but all good in general.

My bump is definitely getting in the way now as well dozy. Putting shoes on is more tricky every day! I'm also spending half the day on the loo.

Have a fab time in lanzarote fanby. We had a lovely holiday there a few years back.

omc, my dh got really worried the other day about how he'd manage if he had to get my stuff together for hospital. I've no idea what he's worrying about, but we've agreed to start getting something together just in case. I bought some big black knickers in primark today that can be a start.

Yay for another member of team blue isabeau.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. Another week closer to d-day Grin

pinkie87 · 18/05/2015 08:19

Happy Monday everyone (boo!). Hope everyone had lovely weekends. I got to see some girlfriends I haven't seen in over a month so that was nice, and weather was lush too, I just didn't dress appropriately! Just a week at work then I have a week off which will be lovely.

Glad you're having a lovely holiday fanby. I must admit I am rather jealous!

Thanks for kind words about work frolic, I know you're right but can't help feeling bad. I suppose this is the beginning of the lifetime of guilt that comes with having kids!

Sorry to the SPD sufferers! My pelvic pain has actually got marginally better the past week and I'm over the moon. Not sure if it's temporary or not but I'm keeping fingers crossed. My physio and yoga teacher both told me to work on my pelvic floor as much as possible as this will also help to support the pelvis and reduce the pain. My pelvic floor has definitely improved even though I'm not as strict as I should be with the exercises, I can hold the muscles a lot longer now!

In other news the bathroom is coming along well, I actually got to have a bath yesterday instead of a shower, what a treat! And due to an unexpected paycheck for DH, we can now get the bedrooms and upstair carpeted (including the nursery) which we didn't think we could afford to do until now, so that's cheered me up. Sorry for the essay!

mzzzf · 18/05/2015 09:20

Morning ladies. Glad everyone is bubbling along well. For pelvic pain/SPD please go and get a referral to a women's health physio. As much as you might be told that the pelvis needs realignment the unfortunate truth is that only by strenthening the pelvic floor and deep abdominals will the situation improve. Obviously I'm biased for physio treatment Wink but it really does work if done properly!!

Oooooh now hospital bags - crikey! I don't want to tempt fate as DH is away for the next few weeks and I don't want to have any reason to pick one up before he comes home. But I will start having a think and making a list - I love a list!!!

I was given LOADS of baby stuff over the weekend, Moses basket, clothes, baby bouncer, bumbo, playmat, muslins and blankets etc. Argh!! It's all so real now.

I'm a bit ahead of you ladies, since they put my edd earlier but after my last appt on Friday they now think she is 2 weeks ahead and that's she's super breech - shite!! She has a few more weeks to make the turn otherwise I'll be heading down the c-section route... Fingers crossed!!!

OMC1 · 18/05/2015 09:58

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend – I can’t believe it’s Monday again, and an awful, grey rainy one at that! Still, I only have eight weeks left at work – and definitely counting!

Dozygirl Ooh, I know the feeling – I think my little one enjoys a good bounce on my bladder, especially when I’ve just got comfortable in bed!

Congrats on your little boy, Isabeau Smile

sianihedgehog · 18/05/2015 11:19

Morning all!

Great to hear everyone having good midwife appointments - hope your baby turns around, mzzzf!
Life is just getting more and more relaxing for us - now up to six or seven houses we've offered over asking price and still been outbid on, plus they are now starting work on our rented house. They didn't bother to warn us or anything, just the builders showed up and demanded access through the house all day every day for the next month. What a treat. I think I'm actually going to have to call Shelter for advice, because our letting agents really are taking the piss. We haven't bought a cot or moses basket or anything because we have no idea where or how we'll be living yet.

And all this has now lead to my OH having a return of some of his long term mental health issues, which is certainly exactly what I need. He's doing his best, poor thing, but christ it'd be nice to have at least one thing I didn't need to worry about. Both of us needing mental health support at the same time as having a baby and moving house is kind of a nightmare.

On the positive side, baby is kicking like mad and growing at the right rate, and kicked the midwife this morning! And one of my friends is going to come by on the weekend to drop off a bunch of clothes and toys that her little boy has outgrown, which should reduce some of my "oh god nothing is ready" panic!

happygojo · 18/05/2015 12:31

Sian Sounds like a bit of a nightmare for you! My friend received a letter when she was 36 weeks preg informing her that the landlord was selling the house and they had 4 weeks to vacate the property. She ended up moving house with a 5 day old! nightmare!

Try not to panic about being ready for the baby. They don't need much at first, and at the end of the day.... if necessary you could buy everything in a day, or have it delivered next day so although it is nice to feel 'ready' it isn't essential right now.

I am not up to date on your story, but is there any chance you can rent somewhere else for a while? Buying in some areas is a nightmare! Good luck.

As for your OH, this must be so stressful for you both! I hope he starts to feel better soon xxxx

Dozygirl · 18/05/2015 13:20

Ooh sian sounds stressful but agree with happy that baby's don't need much in the beginning. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end but I can totally understand why it's stressful for u.

Today is my last day off before back to work tomorrow following a lovely weeks annual leave. I'm dreading it. But only 7 more weeks to go and then it'll be over.

Mzzf sounds like u might be one of the first to give birth then! How many weeks are u? Plenty of time for baby to turn so hopefully they behave for u. Better to do it now rather than when they are bigger as I've heard that can be quite uncomfortable!

I'm having a tidying up day today. Taken me quite a while to get motivated though this morning. Think I'll leave the cleaning to another day though. Don't want to over strain myself hahahaha.

So far in my hospital bag I have put maternity towels and cooling spray but only because my friend gave me them as she had them left over but it's a start at least.

I've joined a few local facebook baby selling groups and have been getting some amazing bargains. I'd totally recommend it. Just got a huge bundle of toys for 15 quid. Wasn't really thinking of buying toys yet as baby won't need them but u can never be to prepared and while the deal is there I may as well make use.

frolic glad u had a good time away with your friend.

I'm definitely there with the bladder thing too-I thought it wasn't until the very end that we needed to pee all the time! And yes bump is definitely starting to get in the way, its an effort now to pick things up or put my socks on!!

Pinkie horray for your bath, I have a bath basically every night, find it so soothing and great for all those aches.

mzzzf hope your baby turns, I heard at pregnancy yoga there is a website spinning babies which gives tips on ways to help your baby turn so might be worth a look. Mine is definitely the wrong way up right now as I always feel kicks low but time to turn so no need to worry yet!

Siani, sounds like a nightmare, I really hope that your luck changes. I'm sure once you sort your housing situation out your OH will be ok-sounds stressful for anyone! Fingers crossed, you never know what house is about to come onto the market :)

Frolicacid · 18/05/2015 18:53

Bloody hell!! Just lost a massive post. I hate it when that happens.

I was mainly saying that I hope you are all ok and that Monday was kind to you. I've just realised I only have 7 more Monday's to do before mat leave Smile

dillydollydarling · 18/05/2015 21:19

I worked out that I have roughly 54 shifts at work left, assuming I make it to 36 weeks! Not sure how realistic it is to be on my feet 8 hours a day, 5 days a week when I'm 36 weeks pregnant!! I originally wanted to go at 37 weeks.

OMC1 · 19/05/2015 08:56

Siani I am sorry to hear things are still so stressful; I hope you manage to get something sorted before baby is here, but try not to stress out too much – easier said than done, I know. Flowers

I love how we are all on the mat leave countdown – eight weeks left for me! Really hoping they fly by! I am sure they will, but I am getting so impatient now!

Has anybody had their belly button ‘pop’ yet? I think mine is going to any day and I’m a bit grossed out by it – as if the excess stomach hair wasn’t freaky enough!

dillydollydarling · 19/05/2015 11:02

Mines pretty much popped. It disgusts me but I know its not permanent Smile and yes about the hair! My belly has never been so hairy!!!

Frolicacid · 19/05/2015 12:27

I'm petrified of my belly popping! The thought makes me feel really weird. It's still pretty deep, but there are definitely some changes happening.

sianihedgehog · 19/05/2015 16:24

Thanks for the sympathy all!! Spent the day working from home today to give builders a chance to work at the back of the house. Sounds nice, but they're filling and painting the rotten windows so they need them open and it's 11C in the house. BRR!
My belly button just keeps getting grosser and grosser. It's currently sort of half popped - I think the scar tissue from the old piercing is stopping it from going completely! On the plus side the piercing itself is a bit less revolting now!

pinkie87 · 20/05/2015 08:16

My belly button hasn't gone yet but it's very stretched and close to the surface, it feels horrid when I touch it, quite sensitive as it's not used to being so exposed! Fingers crossed for no popping!!

10 weeks before mat leave. Stretching out in front of me!! But roll on Thursday, my last day at work til 1st June!

Augustwedding · 20/05/2015 17:31

10 weeks must seem forever! I have 20 working days and feels too long!

Equimum · 20/05/2015 19:01

Gosh, it feels really strange not to be counting down to maternity leave this time. August, that really isn't long*. Have you all decided when you are finishing now?

My belly button never popped last time round, but DH keeps telling me he thinks it will soon! I'm really hoping it doesn't.

I went to the Sainsburys 25% off clothes event today and bought some 'big knickers' ready for my hospital bag. They were still more expensive than Prinark, but a girl needs treats Grin . I also bought a few multipacks of bodysuits/ sleepsuits. The event runs until Monday if anyone is interested.

I haven't done any other preparation for my hospital bag. I've sort of made a list of things I need to get, but that's about it.

Augustwedding · 20/05/2015 19:46

It's not long at all! I star ml on 13th July but have Al before that. Was doing really well but last few days pgp has been really painful so I will see how it goes!

Done baby's bag for hospital, most of labour bag, just mine now!

Isabeau1980 · 20/05/2015 22:59

Had to smile at my antenatal class tonight. Midwife mentioned Mumsnet as a great online resource. Grin

Joskar · 20/05/2015 23:07

Last time I packed my bag two days after my due date and only then because I was going away. I ended up being two weeks late, induced and then emcs. Most of the stuff never made it out the bag. Still have a tens machine in pristine condition!

Frolicacid · 20/05/2015 23:10

Your midwife clearly knows what she's talking about isabeau!

Can I have a whinge?
I am so, so fed up of people telling me I've grown, I'm huge or that I'm waddling. I work in a few different locations so only see most people once a week. It's fucking relentless. I make it clear that I'm not impressed with the comments, yet they still do it EVERY TIME!! Arrghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

And, as well as the vomiting, constipation, piles, heartburn and leg cramps, i now have the most painful rib ever. Why, oh why does this have to happen? I've spent the whole evening sobbing. I just want to be one of those lovely, serene, earth mother types. If this is what our bodies are made for, then mine must be missing a vital component. I can't wait to meet our boy, but I'm really not enjoying the cooking part.

Thank you for listening, I hope you are all ok Flowers

pinkie87 · 21/05/2015 08:14

Oh Frolic I really do sympathise! Both with people's comments and the rib pain! Is it a sharp stabby pain? I've had it for weeks now, mostly in the evenings, and on both sides.

And I was told by the stupid health and safety woman at work that I don't even know that I was waddling the other day. NO I'M BLOODY LIMPING YOU IDIOT. She then asked when I was going on "Fat leave". Yeah, thanks for that. She wasn't even here to see me! Same woman who asked at my risk assessment if my baby was planned. I DO NOT KNOW YOU! Sorry....rant over!

mzzzf · 21/05/2015 09:07

Oh Frolic and Pinkie what a 'mare some people are!?! An old wives tale that's making me feel better is that the harder the pregnancy the easier the first few months. However, this is probably along the same lines as bird poo is lucky, so maybe it's just a thing that's said to make you feel better!!! Grin I'm willing to believe it though as in the last little while with little miss being breech I have so much lower back pressure and rib pain too - delightful!! The poor dogs are now being limited to a 40min walk as a maximum as that's all I can manage without having to waddle/crawl!!

My DH is away to the USA for just over 2 weeks, he leaves on Friday night and it's not properly sunk in that he's off. I'm used to him going away (army) but for some reason I'm in denial about this trip!!! I'm going to decamp to my Mum's though, so it should be grand.

I've decided I'm not going to do the hospital bag until he's back, when I'll be about 33 weeks, so as not to tempt fate! Grin

But have any of the 'already mums' got any great suggestions of what to include in the bag?

dillydollydarling · 21/05/2015 10:34

Frolic I'm with you on the rib pain. It was so bad last week that I ended up visiting the doctors cos I literally couldn't breathe or move!! Its near constant and makes work horrific Sad

After wanting a baby for the past 8 years, I hate the fact that I'm not enjoying pregnancy! Just keep telling myself that baby is worth it Smile

Finally ordered our nursery furniture yesterday, just need to decorate the nursery now!!

I also want to start packing my hospital bag but I think 25 weeks may be a bit too early Blush what kind of bags are people using as their hospital bag?

mzzzf · 21/05/2015 14:26

For the hospital bag I reckon I'm just going to use a normal overnight bag for me, the baby change bag for little one. Are people packing a labour bag AND a hospital bag? I'm only planning on one bag for me and one for baby...

However, I'm a FTM so all advice gratefully received Grin
