Hey ladies!

Wow, I've missed a bit - will catch up properly shortly, but hope everyone is okay! Had a three-day weekend, and did a LOAD of DIY (well, Hubby did - I mostly sat munching on Skittles and helpfully directing) so I am exhausted - more so than usual - today!

I also had a midwife appointment yesterday, nothing too exciting although she gave my belly a really hard squeeze and told me where baby's head was - I wish I could tell which bits are which like that!

Oh, and I seem to be turning into a giraffe. Confused The skin on both my forearms has gone blotchy and honestly, it looks like a giraffes patterns! Doesn't bother me, as I read skin pigmentation does change, but it's very odd1

ruby242 I will probably go back to work after a few months, but honestly if I could afford it I would definitely stay at home with the baby - I've always wanted to be a stay at home mummy. I'm sorry to hear you've had negative comments, though - just ignore them, you're doing what's right for you and your family - not them!

mzzzf I have always had an ample chest, but they are definitely getting huge! Keep buying the cheapy Primark bras while I am getting bigger before buying the proper nursing bras later on. Does anyone know what the rules are with underwired bras? I am sure I read something a while ago about wearing them while pregnant, but can't remember now!

Dozy I hope you find your fitbit. Sad I hate losing things too, and always get really upset, especially when it's something expensive or sentimental!

happygojo · 28/04/2015 13:10

Ruby I think a lot more people would stay off if they could afford it. I think any negativity is more likely to come from jealousy than anything else. It also depends on you personally. I ALWAYS thought I would be career minded, but actually now I don't care so much what I do. However some people's career would really suffer from a long break. At the end of the day, we each need to do what is best for ourselves and our families. For some this may be going to work after a month, others it will be to be SAHM, and everything in between. Don't let people judge you.

OMC1 Unless your MW tells you otherwise, underwired bra's are fine as long as they fit well and don't rest on breast tissue, but this is the rule ALL of the time, not just pregnancy. I stuck with an underwire bra until about 18 weeks but then I couldn't hack it anymore! but I will still wear for evenings out etc as it looks much nicer under clothes. Even with a soft cup bra I end up taking it off in the evening at some point!

sianihedgehog · 28/04/2015 13:46

ruby242 I'm bitterly, bitterly jealous of anyone well off enough to decide to stay home and felt like shanking the first person who acted like that was a realistic possibility. I suspect the frosty reception you've been getting probably stems from similar feelings! Generally, polls show that most women would like to stay home longer or work part time, but return to work for economic reasons.

TL;DR we're hella jealous, not judging your choice!

ruby242 · 28/04/2015 16:44

Thanks ladies, I didn't think that it could be jealousy that others wish they could too-that I can understand so is good to see things from others perspectives. One in particular I thought was implying I was lazy! I wont take it to heart from now on :) I am very thankful however less the case that we are well off sianihedgehog and more the case that childcare in my area is expensive and I don't earn much so it would barely be worth it!

OMC I had no idea about underwire bras, I'm still wearing mine!

Fanby · 28/04/2015 16:47

Hello…am I allowed back in? I've been AWOL for a few weeks so I do apologise! I've had loads going on and been feeling pretty shitty. Had a falling out with my family and in general feeling pretty sorry for myself. Sickness and exhaustion has really come back with full force and just feel crappy. Trying to concentrate on the good stuff but it's hard to some days. I've skim read to catch up and some very funny conversations going on which made me smile :)...I totally don't think I could trust DH to tidy me up downstairs ;)

I won't hash back over old ground, so onto boobies being your most recent topic - mine have definitely changed! They've got so much bigger and heavier - especially the nips, and I'm pretty sure I have stretch marks under one of them. I've been wearing a mixture of non and underwired bras, an underwire one actually being the most comfortable.

And to save this from being reeeaaallly long in other news we've painted the nursery and finally made our first baby purchase - clothes! We had a really good scan when I was 22 weeks and found out we're having a baby girl!!! I was so shocked as I was convinced she was boy!! Absolutely over the moon (as I would have been either way) and it was a massive relief to see her on the screen again. We had a trainee sonographer who started the scan and then one of the 4 people training him then stood in so I feel we had an incredibly thorough examination. As a little treat for her being so good (she was a tinker in the wrong place at 12 weeks) we went to Jojo Maman Bebe and bought her a couple of outfits :)

Glad that everyone is well and promise to not be a 'stranger' onwards :) xx

OMC1 · 28/04/2015 17:42

Welcome back Fanby - glad to see you here again, hope all is okay with your family now and you are feeling better soon. Congratulations on your little girl! How wonderful Smile

Happygojo Thank you, I'll stick with underwire as long as I can, I bloody hate wearing any bra at the moment, but can't let them swing free in public, sadly! Haha!

sianihedgehog · 28/04/2015 18:35

Boobies! Mine shot up from 34b to 36d in the first trimester, but seem to be roughly a 36C right now (25 weeks) - I've not gained any weight this trimester despite the enormous bump, and I think I've lost some fat in the general tit region. I'm still wearing underwire most of the time, although my bump is so high that it's kind of interfering with it sometimes!

Is anyone else getting leaky boobs? It's not been heavy enough to justify breast pads (also those seem to be REALLY OBVIOUS unless you have really big boobs), but mine have been leaking a few drops on and off for a couple of weeks...

Frolicacid · 28/04/2015 19:54

Evening all!!

Yes, perpetual, I'm waking up in the night with calf cramps too. They're horrible. I don't think I'd ever had cramp before this. Stretching my toes out is the only thing that helps.

Ignore the negative comments about being a sahm ruby. I can't believe how judgey people get over parenting choices. You have to do what's best for you and your family.

Welcome back fanby. I hope everything settles down for you soon.

On the subject of boobs. Mine have gone mental. I started off a 32e and I'm wearing a 34h today. They are almost as big as my head, and so, so heavy. They are sore, itchy, veiny and generally gross. My nipples have got really dark and are probably bigger than some people's whole boobs. DH is slightly obsessed with them. I'm worried they're going to smother the baby.
I gave up on underwire a few weeks ago as I found they made me itch more. M&s nursing bra's, bought cheaply as brand new seconds from e-bay are my saviours.

Whilst we are doing tmi talk, can I ask about discharge? Mine has gone a bit crazy the past few days. I don't think i have an infection or thrush, just lots of normal cm. i even had to change my knickers at work today. Is anyone else having problems? I've never worn pads or liners, might be time to start.

Oh, and I've been exposed to chicken pox very closely and no one seems to know if I've had it or not. Great.

Dozygirl · 28/04/2015 22:24

Welcome back fanby and congrats on your baby girl. Glad the scan went well.

Boobs, mine are just huge and very full but no leaking yet. They make me look fatter though because they are so giant. Oh well

frolic I've been wanting to mention that myself lol. Since getting my bfp I've basically had a lot of milky white almost cooked egg white discharge and a lot of it. It's annoying but I've gotten used to it now. In the early days I used to think it felt like my period starting so would rush to the loo but it wasn't. Even after swimming today when I took my costume off I had some in there. It's very annoying. Hopefully it'll dry up after baby comes although then we'll have periods again.

Oh no on the chicken pOx. Crazy that noone knows if you've had it. I remember having it. Hope u don't get it.

ruby I'd love to be a sahm. I definitely want to work part time if I can afford it. I know friends who have given up there job for the same reason as you, that what they earned would just go straight on childcare so may as well just stay at home. I love my job but it's hard work and I can't imagine having the energy to work full time and look after a baby. I can barely look after myself. I'm a useless housewife. I'm so worried about being a good mum !

pinkie87 · 29/04/2015 08:15

Yeyyy welcome back fanby! Glad your scan went well and congrats on the baby girl! I love Jojo Maman but I'm on a clothes ban from DH at the mo (very sensible, unlike me). Sorry about your family problems but hope you're doing ok.

Frolic your post could have been written by me, the boob part and the discharge part (ew). I think I need to get measured as I have no idea what size I am, I'm in 34F right now but I'm almost out of the cups. I may head over to ebay for some cheapy maternity bras. No boob leaking but I'm only 22+5 so there's plenty of time for that.

In today's instalment of baby brain I only put on half of my make up before leaving the house. On a day I'm looking particularly tired and washed out too! Oops.

mzzzf · 29/04/2015 08:18

Woohoo! Welcome back Fanby, hope all us smooth sailing from now on Smile Nice you're having a girl too!

Oh ladies it's good to talk boobs!! Like I said before, I've not had any major increase (I'm 38gg anyway!) I have had a change in nipple colour and diameter Shock I've not had any leakage yet but I have had TMI alert some milk/straw coloured crust at the tip of my nipple, so maybe I am leaking a little - shite!
Re the underwire the rule is generally that of it fits properly and is comfy you can wear it. I'm still in underwired bras, I've always slept with support so not a massive change there either.

Oh and yessss to the discharge, it's been more noticeable recently. I'm not the sort of gal who usually has any so this is a big change!

Fanby · 29/04/2015 08:21

Ooh Frolic that's not nice on the chicken pox :S. Is it something you could check in with your doctor about, would it be on your notes or is there a quick test they can do to check your immunity (I have no idea on these things!!). Fingers crossed you've had it!

As for discharge – big fat yes!! Mine started from pretty much the word go so i've been using liners, otherwise I just felt damp – GROSS! And especially at the beginning I was a compulsive knicker checker in case it was blood.

You girls all have massive pre pregnancy boobs!! Previously I would have been jealous, but I think mine have just gone up to your normal sizes (if not smaller) and I don't know what to do with them lol!

Off to pregnancy yoga this morning which i'm looking forward too, my back has been killing so i'm looking forward to stretching it out :) Wishing you all a lovely cramp, chicken pox, leaky, non itchy free day! x

Fanby · 29/04/2015 12:44

Crossed paths with a couple of you/posts this morning but I was in a bit of a rush! Yoga was lovely, bump did her usual one person rave kicking and moving during relaxation time at the end :)

I too have that slight crust on the nipple loooovveeelly! Oh the perks of pregnancy.

Hey pinkie!!! Hope you're doing ok!! Sucks about the clothing ban lol! I completely gutted my wardrobe the other day and cleared out two massive boxes of clothes to make space for bumps. That's all she has so far, a few outfits lol.

Still haven't chosen any of the big stuff but DH and i have given ourselves until beginning of June to make a decision. Hope this is isn't dragging up old convo's but who's getting a cot with a drop down side? I'm not sure what to do!

LadesC · 29/04/2015 13:13

Fanby I totally get that at the end of pregnancy yoga too. Teachers doing all this lovely calming talking and the lights are low but i cant relax as getting probably more kicks than I get at any other time!

happygojo · 29/04/2015 14:23

Yeah my baby loves to do kung foo during the end of yoga relaxation!

Fanby · 29/04/2015 16:04

Haha! So glad it's not just mine! Cheeky little things!! x

xBlueberry88x · 29/04/2015 16:46

Ladies is there still a facebook page? im on there more than here lol

Re boobies...mine were fairly large before but now their massive and veiny and icky!! Ive been wearing sports bras etc

Discharge yes had this from the beginning I still get worried im bleeding sometimes but never is (touch wood).

Re staying at home mum...im planning on taking as long as I can but I already know im not coming back to the job im in now because its not worth my while having childcare etc...instead im going to start childminding hopefully!

xBlueberry88x · 29/04/2015 16:46

Ps hope everyone is doing okay!!

Frolicacid · 29/04/2015 17:06

You will be a lovely mum dozy. But I know exactly what you mean about the worries.

Head over to e-bay pinkie. The m&s bra's are super comfy.
I'm laughing at your baby brain make up forgetting! Today I went to work without my glasses so had to use my prescription sunnies to work on the computer Blush. Not cool!

We're not going to bother getting a cot until he's ready to go into it fanby. So I've not really thought about sides etc yet. Although I have seen loads in very pretty colours! Priorities and all that.

Thanks for all your messages about the pox. My lovely midwife arranged for my bloods from last time to be checked and I'm immune. Phew!! Who knew they kept the bloods that long.
They did take it very seriously. I must have had 10 calls in the past 24 hours from various midwives, gp's and nurses.

I hope everyone's had a good day. Thank you all for making me feel normal about my soggy knickers Flowers Grin

happygojo · 29/04/2015 18:35

I'm having a bit of a wobble. I am no good at keeping up with life at the moment (washing up, laundry, cleaning, tidying etc etc). And I am just wondering how the hell I am going to cope with a baby too! I am not particular tidy by nature but I hate it. I feel like I don't really stop but that nothing gets done and that I am barely treading water. I don't have SPD or anything (touch wood) so I really don't have an excuse. I am not really asking for advice or sympathy but I just needed to rant. My OH said on the way home from work that when the baby comes I will have to be tidier and i could've swung for him! Does he not think that I know this!? Maybe instead of saying it he should just help more? Doesn't help that we are doing some redecorating so that is taking priority.

But I could just cry over my messy house!

Sorry to moan

Dozygirl · 29/04/2015 19:20

happy I totally get it. I'm just so tired after working that I don't always have it in me to tidy up but I hate the mess so I get stressed over it and dp calls me lazy which doesn't help. Once the baby comes it'll be different (I think) because we'll be wanting to keep it tidy for our little ones. Although they'll be more to clear up probably!

I had high blood pressure at my 25 week appt today. Have never had that before so freaked me out a bit but I'd been rushing around prior to the appointment and didn't have to wait for my appointment so I felt is was more to do with that. midwife just said to try and get someone at work to recheck it for me if I can to make sure its coming down. There was no protein in my wee so that was a good thing.

So I was supposed to be decorating this afternoon but I told dp I couldn't because of the high blood pressure heehee. I've just woken up from A 2 hour nap! Clearly I must have needed to rest. I'm also going to ask my manager to do another risk assessment because I've only had one done and I'm getting swollen legs when at work and not getting breaks and could also be caused by high blood pressure so I'm going to use that to try to make sure i get priority for breaks.

fanby are u thinking of drop down cot for when baby is in the room with you? I've been given a normal crib for the room from a friend so just going to use that Until she moves into a bug cot.

blueberry there is a Facebook group. I like to use both here and the group. Both are useful and it's a bit easier to have a discussion about a specific thing on the group. Someone called alex barlow set it up. If u search for her and send her a pm she'll add you. Her Facebook profile pic is of her with her cute little boy on her back by the sea.

dillydollydarling · 29/04/2015 19:20

happy I know exactly how you feel. I'm not the tidiest of people and my OH is a nightmare. I'm pretty much the only one who does any housework and when I'm on my feet for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, cleaning the entire house is not what I feel like doing on my day off!

I'd been keeping the downstairs extremely tidy for the past couple of weeks and was planning to work on upstairs tomorrow. I came home from work this afternoon and the downstairs looks like a bomb hit it! OH has been off today and clearly busy but hasn't cleaned up at all after himself.

So now I'm in a really bad mood with him when I know its just hormones making it seem worse than it is!!!

Frolicacid · 29/04/2015 19:52

I'm exactly the same as all of you on the home front!!
I usually have a very clean and tidy house. But I'm so tired after work and still being sick a lot. All I'm managing is the bare minimum. DH is doing his best, but the place is crying out for a good, deep clean. Hopefully we'll all be sorted once the nesting instinct kicks in towards the end!

I hope your blood pressure comes down quickly dozy. Definitely keep checking it. Asking your work for another risk assessment is a really good idea. You should be having regular breaks to help with the swelling. Take care of yourself Flowers

happygojo · 29/04/2015 21:47

Haha you all make me feel bad now as i sit on my bum all day at a desk. I'm not on my feet like you lot. I'm just super irritable..... And there may be an Xbox that gets turned on whilst covered in a damp towel..... Or maybe some sand paper to a GTA disc

Lilydreams · 29/04/2015 22:36

I'm glad we're all in agreement on the discharge situation! Although I have to say I cannot STAND damp knickers and so have been wearing pantiners since I was a teenager as my mum recommended! Thought everyone did Blush! That sounds like I've got some kinda tidal wave going on but I've not I'm just not comfy with the slightest damp feel- I get through 2 or 3 a day now being preggo though!

Boobs I'm a little disappointed in- don't get me wrong they've got bigger but not massive so- I was a 32C pre preg and I'm still squishing myself in them now- until I go shopping at weekend- been waiting for payday! Been wearing my sports bras the last few weeks but even them are getting tight now!

Had 25 week app today- bump measures for first time and MW said he's measuring 'perfect' which was lovely to hear!

OH was feeling bump before and he wasn't moving loads so I said why don't you have a listen as a friend had said it sounds really funny and she had recorded hers with her phone! He pressed his ear against my bump and said its well random and he loved it! Maybe one for you all to try! I'm loving all the movements and new experiences at the mo- when I was at the cinema yesterday he was having a right shift around and kept pushing right into one side- I had to sit with my arm over my head so there was more space then he must have proper moved and I can only think it was head or bum but there was a great big round lump poking out the side of my bump- so weird but lovely!! Despite the uncomfiness!
