Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Still impressive cinnamon. I sadly drive to work everyday and other than walking occasionally into the village for shopping I would say I manage a less than a mile a day!!

brummagem · 16/03/2015 21:27

As it was only a couple of spots I just had a nice relaxing shower popped on a liner drank some ice cold water to stimulate bump into moving sat on loads of cushions and checked how things were after an hour or so then again overnight. Probably overdid it lugging in all the shopping, manic cleaning and moving stuff about to fit the cot into the bedroom in case he arrives before we can move house.

Can't believe I'm only 2 weeks away from the 36 weeks some of the new arrivals have emerged at. 2. Weeks. crying So not prepared!

RL20 · 16/03/2015 21:28

I don't even want to say out loud how much walking I probably do day to day Shock when I actually think about it, I barely walk anywhere. I'll hopefully make up for it when I've got baby in the pushchair!

smogsville · 16/03/2015 21:30

Oh crap, I do quite a bit of walking. Must stop immediately! Perhaps i could rent one of those mobility scooters. DD could ride in the basket.

TheBooMonster · 16/03/2015 21:44

glad things are ok brum!

I've been playing with my birth plan this evening, and going through my ever-growing maternity folder to take out all the junk and stuff that should be in my paper hospital notes already. I ended up changing the name of my birth plan as it became less of a birth plan and more of a 'here is a summary of my why medical history is fun' voilah!

ewby how goes the hospital bag packing and cot building?

To the point TheBooMonster! I've been rethinking my natural third stage wish, I had the injection with both boys as I was induced and there's no option from there and it was quick and hassle free so if I avoid an induction this time thinking I will still go with injection. Dh didn't want to cut the cord either time but when offered by midwife at the time he said yes Confused. Didn't have anything about bf in it, probably should have!

FiRaffe · 16/03/2015 21:57

Have you got a folder and your notes Boo? Is that just because of medical needs or something we all should have?

Underwood2013 · 16/03/2015 22:07

Thanks ebwy, squatting, & cinnamon... Guess I'll find out about Frimley's stance on the matter come Friday. I know it won't be any later than 40 weeks, I'm just getting fed up being uncomfortable so I guess I'm hoping for an earlier date...

Anyone else struggling with spd? I miss sleeping on my side!!

cinnamongreyhound · 16/03/2015 22:07

I've got a bounty folder FiRaffe that I keep everything in including my notes, has my wee bottle, scan pics, apt cards etc inside but not an official folder.

daholster · 16/03/2015 22:18

Underwood I'm Frimley too! Fridays though so can't be same consultant... Still can't help you with an answer though!

TENS machine has arrived BNIB still sealed from eBay. Quite pleased, got it for just under £40 - Elle TENS - and others are paying £35-£40 second hand. So hopefully I can get most of my money back too afterwards!

Still not tidied. Or done my birth plan. Or packed any bags. 36 weeks tomorrow! Shock

Underwood2013 · 16/03/2015 22:42

Think we are nearly the same dd as well daholster... I'm 36 weeks this week as well!

I've got a bag semi-packed but haven't bothered with a birth plan this time... It all went out the window with my first!

TheBooMonster · 16/03/2015 22:51

cinnamon my birth plan last time had lots of words and kind of went out the window without being read due to it's essay like features, so this time it's slightly blunt, but ensures people have the info they need. I only put the breastfeeding stuff in because I am so adamant that I don't want a bottle anywhere near the baby, I pretty much had to be restrained when a nurse fed DD formula when we were readmitted for her weight loss because she wasn't feeding properly and I frogging well told them so when they were desperately pushing us out of the hospital in the first place so if they'd listened to me and helped me at the time there would have been no bloody need for it Angry so now that I know I can express and there are alternatives to the bottle I want to make sure all avenues are explored before people chuck bottles of formula down bumps throat...

fir I've got copies of letters and medical journal articles from the genetics team which are useful for the community midwives to have access to as they don't have access to my paper file that's in the hospital and some of them haven't come across Hypermobility Syndrome or Neurofibromatosis so it helps for them to be able to flick through it, so I've separated all of that lot out into a folder so that I don't take it into the hospital and risk losing it but I can still take it to community appointments, and then I've got just my maternity notes, hospital stickers and the breastfeeding quick reference guide all in a folder that I can take to the hospital. They were all in my bounty pack folder but it sort of broke on account of me filling it with too much stuff :P I've also taken out the paper measuring tape and TWO sets of foetal monitor bands that were in there...

Morning all. Hope everyone is OK today. Very odd night for me. So glad I had the bed to myself. Woke at 02.30 desperate for a wee. Then and make again at 04.30 with the most unpleasant cramp like pain in my right side near my stoma, fairly sure it was bump pain though. Difficult to massage though! The rubbing I could do didn't help. It started to make me feel sick so in earnest I tried lying on my right (had been on my left), on my back (both worse), sitting up (no help), stretching... Ended up literally rolling around the bed trying to relieve the pain, it was horrible. I actually wished for labour to start because that sort of pain is better than this nauseating one was!!! Found having my face on the bed, knees drawn up and spread and bum in the air relieved it for a few minutes. Once I started to feel uncomfy again I moved back onto my left and propped my bump with a pillow and managed to fall asleep again before waking at 6 with a sore hip since I had no pillow between my legs!

Bump was very quiet at the time and still is, I've only felt a teeny prod or two, nothing at all enthusiastic like he usually is. Going to have a big drink hopefully before dd wakes up and see what happens.

HV today and I wouldn't let friends in downstairs let alone strangers so lots of housework before she comes, and I'm knackered before I start!!! Could do with some more sleep! Ooh, a little wriggle...

36w

AnniaFausta · 17/03/2015 07:00

Morning all! Upset tummy yesterday is, on the basis of quite a good night's sleep and nothing contraction-esque, just an upset tummy, probably compounded by the whole being pregnancy business, so that's a relief. I'm 36w tomorrow, and while we have a whole pile of baby STUFF downstairs, none of it is washed or in a hospital bag... and the birth plan is partially complete on the phone, but not finished, printed out or laminated. I'm really assuming that baby will have got the memo about first babies being late, but who knows!

Hope everyone else had a reasonably good night, and I hope the drink does the trick, daholster.

FiRaffe · 17/03/2015 07:29

Sorry you had a rough night daholster. Hope you feel better, I hope the tidying isn't too bad.

At least baby is staying put for a bit longer Annia - they might make it to April that doesn't seem to be our trend!!!!

daholster · 17/03/2015 07:32

Glad the tummy is just dinner related annia! Baby didn't move much with a drink so might head downstairs and get a colder one and a bit of chocolate... Dd woke but has gone back to sleep!!!

smogsville · 17/03/2015 07:48

Brumma - cheesy chip butty - lucky bump! Mine v much enjoyed his croque monsieur and chips yesterday. Glad the spotting seems to have stopped. We really all need to just stop moving things around as doing loads of heavy lifting.

daholster sorry you're in so much pain. Do pack your hospital bag when you get a chance though and for heavens sake do not clean your house for the HV. Really just don't. They are here to help us, not us to impress them. Sit down with your DD and read stories or watch TV. I am waggling my finger.

Annia - that's good news on the tummy.

Had a bit of a crap nights sleep waking sometime around (or I suspect before) 5 and then not really drifting off again but hey ho, last day at work so silver lining. It's horrid being this pregnant and finding the most basic of movements - reaching for a drink, turning over etc - such a major undertaking.

Boo your plan is v impressive. V clear and easy to take all the key info in at a glance. Reading it, my reaction would be don't mess with this woman - she knows what she wants!

RL20 · 17/03/2015 08:25

Morning everyone Brew

Daholster any more movements been felt? Have a HV coming to see me too today. Trying not to panic too much but is a bit nerve racking when your meeting one for the first time!

Glad you feel better Annia.

Boo - it wasn't my bounty pack but my handheld notes decided to fall apart the other day! For the amount you have to use them and for how much they get passed around and written in, you'd think they'd be a bit more compact and sturdy!
My mum was surprised at how big they were being A4, as she said she's sure hers were smaller back then.

Underwood my bags only semi packed too Confused still need to get a coupe of bits for it like travel sized products, snacks, drinks, and just general double checking it over!

Smog - as long as walking lots isn't giving you pain or discomfort I would carry on and keep active! Just walking around Asda gives me back ache and makes my bump go hard!

35+1 Grin

smogsville · 17/03/2015 08:38

RL - I'm just getting spooked by all these early babies. It's my last day at work today GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin and section is booked for 16th April and I have plans that involve lots of lying down and gentle sorting and pottering in between now and then! So no more maternally fit exercise classes or anything that might in any way whatsoever encourage an early arrival. I will start walking at a slow amble from now on instead of motoring about like a lunatic.

daholster · 17/03/2015 08:48

Maybe 2 brief wriggles and 1 little prod since my last post. Which is supposedly not enough I seem to remember. But have got dd up and dressed and to nursery in that time so maybe I just haven't noticed. The ice cold drink made him do one of those.

Now stuck in the loo with my painful butt!!! Blush I'm not going to say tmi any more as warning. No point. I used to be embarrassed as a teenager. Living with something like UC that becomes so severe you lose all inhibitions of talking about the toilet! And so it should be because there are thousands of people in this country with inflammatory bowel disease who feel too embarrassed to share and sometimes hide away or don't even get diagnosed until it's too late to save their guts (I've met a few), and people who should be seeing their GP about their bowel cancer symptoms who don't until its too late. I vet everyone on this board will know someone with inflammatory bowel disease and not have a clue who it is. And it really can be a horrible disease to bear, incontinence, pain, diarrhoea, awful constipation (causing more diarrhoea), having support from friends has been so key to me when I've been in a heap on the toilet crying - WhatsApp to my best friend and texts to my husband and online forums carried me through. Not hiding it eg at work made life easier too. I decided people who were upset by me talking about my illness or didn't want to know were not worth my time anyway. Life became better. But I still got sicker! As much as I hate my bag, wow am I glad I don't have most of my colon any more!!! Don't know where all that came from... Blush * steps down from pedestal * Blush

Anyway going to have a hot drink now and chocolate instead of the biscuits I had earlier and see if he will move a bit more.

kismac · 17/03/2015 08:53

Daholster, try a cold drink and then lie on your left side and give your bump a good rub for 30 minutes. That's what midwife told me to do when I had a reduced movement scare last week. Hope wee one perks up and your stomach pain settles soon.

daholster · 17/03/2015 09:02

Thanks kismac will give the rubbing a go. Also giving him some caffeine!!!

daholster · 17/03/2015 09:03

Just one coffee... Not an irresponsible parent honest...

kismac · 17/03/2015 09:30

That's what Im missing not being at work. Getting a proper coffee. Mmm...latte! Oh and a muffin, of course.

smogsville · 17/03/2015 09:31

daholster the odd coffee is fine in my book. I had a very sugary macchiato after lunch yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed.

I always find baby moves when I lie down. How are you getting on?
