Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

No idea lauren, this one is predicted to be nearly 8 lbs as opposed to dd who was 6lb 6... Shock

Lauren82000 · 15/03/2015 15:26

It's got to be wrong though hasn't it Daholster? My usual mw brushes away any concerns saying my stomach muscles are all separated and that makes you bigger.

daholster · 15/03/2015 15:32

Well that was from scan! But none of it is accurate. I'd be very surprised if yours was that much bigger!!! Mine maybe because I was sick last time, but still it seems a big jump... I hope its wrong, dinky and perfect is just fine!!!

Lauren82000 · 15/03/2015 15:57

If be worried it would fit through the exit, I'm not exactly a big girl. Shock

Must remember to ring the mw to make an appointment for a week on Wednesday I couldn't do it after my appointment last week the desk had closed. Hmm

StuntNun · 15/03/2015 16:04

No idea Daholster but I think pressure in the bum area is pretty common in late pregnancy. Afaik you use the same muscles to push the baby out as you use to poo, certainly it feels very similar when you're in the second stage of labour, so to me what you are experiencing seems quite likely. Are there any Facebook groups for your condition where you could ask others who have already been through pregnancy?

BananaToast · 15/03/2015 16:16

Happy Mother's Day all.

Congratulations Penguin - and well done on your DH remembering to get a card!

My DH took me out for some lunch which was lovely, although I couldn't manage much as it was my first proper food since Friday. Came home and had a 3 hour nap(!) and feeling much better now. Can't believe I slept that long, I'm never usually able to nap in the day. Off to visit my mum this evening.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/03/2015 16:51

I'm the opposite Lauren82000, my two were both 13 days overdue and 8lb 12.5 and 9lb 2. From my scan the Dr says if he's delivered at 40w this one will be 3.6kg which isn't quite 8lb. Those two weeks must make a difference but I'm also 5st lighter so I wonder if hes just had less calories. I don't have very wide hips and managed fine with my two so don't worry too much about size. Bigger babies are supposed to be easier as there is more weight bearing down so you need to do less work?

smogsville · 15/03/2015 16:54

Penguin congratulations! Lovely news!

That's good news about the wardrobe/ relationship Tiny. We've ordered a Pax. I think I'm going to book my dad to help DH and I'll vacate the house with DD and mum, not returning until I've got the all-clear that they've finished.

Cave troll my DH got DD first but that's bc I was conked out under GA!

Good one on the deep clean kismac.

Yes Siarie do check it out at your appt.

I'm quite pleased with my Mother's Day chocs - rose and violet creams - and card signed by DD. I did inform DH that it would be unacceptable not to get something though.

daholster your bath bomb bath sounds immense. Your new symptoms sound painful though and if they're making you anxious can you talk to your Facebook stoma nurse? As mws probably not specialist enough.

On birth weight - my friend had a second baby last night, two weeks early, a little girl who weighs 8lbs 9! She's relieved she didn't go full term. Both parents are slim/ average sized people and this second is heavier that their first, a boy who went full term.

daholster · 15/03/2015 17:29

Thanks ladies. It is awesome that you are all so lovely and open minded and let me spout tmi about my bum!!! I'm so grateful because it really helps to share.

stuntnun I'm sure he is pressing in new places. Yes it feels very like second stage but so so much less satisfying, with pushing dd I felt like it was really a good feeling. This is just horrible and painful (and gives me piles!!! Blush ).

I could speak with my IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) nurse. To be honest I can't imagine her saying much except "step up the steroids"... No other meds work for me at all now except high dose steroid applied directly to the area. So I'll start doing it nightly and see what happens. I suppose if it does kick off labour then that's just the way it is! Anyway I know it's suddenly got really bad cos I just had a little accident in my underwear trying to get to the loo in time... Thought those days were in the past Sad but at least it can only be blood these days!!! And you are all worrying about continence of wee!!! Wink Grin

smogs yes I do have an online support group but I seem to be a front runner in the pregnancy with a rectal stump stakes... I had similar last time (when I was joined up still) and did have issues with a flare and therefore all the horrible symptoms buy definitely not the level of pain (not til 6hrs post birth when it really kicked off, oh my goodness it was terrible trying to get to the loo and turn myself inside out every 10 mins while everything else hurt and I was knackered, I did a lot of crying! The mws were BRILLIANT). I certainly didn't have the contractions with pain to go with it last time but all my anatomy has been moved around now - for example my rectum is pulled round and sewn to the bottom of my tummy beneath what looks like a c section scar, instead of sitting at the back. I think the attempts he makes to move down cause extreme pressure on my new anatomy which is already inflamed and makes everything feel worse?

Have had a lovely day. In the bath now with a dewberry bomb in it and about to eat my frozen yogurt. Dd and daddy have gone to nan and grandad's... All toys out of sight and the house is quiet... Bliss!!!

daholster · 15/03/2015 17:54

Omg wondering if I am getting a little bit of "prelabour" stuff. Contractions in the bath low bump and round to my back... Only lasting 20secs though and about 10 mins apart. This happened a couple of days before I had dd, always in bed when I woke in the mornings!

Will see if there are any more... Don't want to be ridiculous wondering if all this (literally) crapping myself and increasing in needing the loo rush might be my version of body emptying in preparation... Shock

Though prelabour stuff can last weeks, I know, so I won't get too excited even if it carries on a bit longer!!!

Will not tell dh... He's back to Edinburgh tomorrow evening til Friday...

IvegotaCaveTroll · 15/03/2015 18:25

Show many weeks are u now Daholster. Is it worth ringing labour ward and just saying u are not sure what's going on- the only way they will no is by
Examining u and I think given ur history that's totally acceptable. Plus If they think ur in early labour it give ur DH time to get back.

londonlivvy · 15/03/2015 18:26

hi everyone. I can't keep up!

We had a weekend away and my sister minded DD. It was lovely. Lots of chilling out, chatting, time chilling out together. Now definitely happy for dd2 to come any day. I'm 36+4.

The only downside was DD's reaction when we went to pick her up. lots of hysterical sobbing and all the cuddles weren't helping. Not sure why. Perhaps relief at our return, strop at having been left, and happy to see us? We've been piling on attention and love this afternoon but it has made me worried about how DD will cope when I'm in labour. I'm not sure whether she will go my sister or a friend (my sister has yet to offer). But given last time, it's likely to be a longish labour.

FiRaffe · 15/03/2015 18:28

Oh daholster - hope all is ok. Just have a good rest and do what is best for you and your DH. Is it better to maybe warn DH just so he can be on standby if needed?

Hope your bath was good too.

The room has got 2 walls papered and one of those painted. The remaining two walls are a bit different - one only a part wall with radiator and the final wall is a feature paper so won't need painting. Will leave mum and DH to it tomorrow with my 34 week midwife appointment. Will be asking about the blood to brain

daholster · 15/03/2015 18:36

Well, I have continued to have one every 10 mins (so 3 more since I posted) but they have stepped back to not being painful...

Getting out of the bath now and will see what happens! If they remain regular with any amount of pain then given dh goes away tomorrow I will give them a ring in case.

cavetroll I'm 35+5. Its probably nothing. Time will tell!!!

daholster · 15/03/2015 18:39

PS London it might be relief and annoyance, just an inability to express all the emotions she feels. I imagine she had a great time and next time she goes she will know what's happening and that you do come back... And may take the picking up bit a lot better? Can't remember how old your dd is but emotions are so complicated to learn how to manage for them! It is horrible to see them like it though.

Really glad you had a lovely time.

Siarie · 15/03/2015 18:40

daholster I've had three episodes of what seems like pre labour. Very annoying and it's why I think mine won't make it to 40 weeks

TheBooMonster · 15/03/2015 19:01

Hope you all had lovely days!

daholster sorry to hear that your system is all a bit twangy, though perhaps contractions are a good sign, especially given how much pressure baby is putting on your intestines Shock you're a whole lot calmer about the blood than I think I could ever be!

No Mothers Day babies, here or on my April groups! I have to say what with the enthusiasm these babies seem to have to turn up I'm quite surprised!

I'm the same Siarie, had the odd niggle and my BH last night were every 4 mins till I got up and wandered around a bit. Just need to get passed the next 2 weeks and I'm on leave. Don't want to start mat leave till I have too or I'll be going back in November!

London I wouldn't count on a long labour second time around. I've got three friends who've had their seconds in last six months in two hours start to finish after long and fairly arduous labours with their firsts.

daholster vent away if it helps. We all think you're such a legend to deal with it all on top of this 'extreme pregnancy' stage we're all now in. Did your DD go full term btw?

Happy mothers' day!

I feel very, very lucky to have such wonderful friends - I had my baby shower and it was absolutely perfect. Everyone bought books for baby

smogsville · 15/03/2015 19:57

Misty I like ones from JoJo or H&M. They tend to work by having double layers of fabric which I was able to manipulate discretely and I'm not very dexterous!

The JoJo ones are expensive on the face of it but I wore them literally every day for nearly a year and they're still in good enough condition after all the washing to be used again this time around so on a cost per wear basis I think they have proved to be a bit of a bargain.

They do come up quite big though. I find the small quite large.

BrixtonBunny · 15/03/2015 19:58

Argh posted too soon!! As I was saying:

Everyone bought books for baby, so now we have a little library already. And they all coordinated so no one bought the same one! Also got given a beautiful quilt, a Lamaze octopus, and some other bits and pieces.

The organisers also had planned for everyone to bring a bead or two, and a "blessing" (in the loosest sense of the term), and then everyone went round and threaded their beads onto a piece of string whilst reading something beautiful and encouraging about the baby's impending birth. The idea being that when I go into labour I can have the string of beads with me and I can think of all of the support and love I have around me. Sounds very cheesy and hippy-ish but it was incredibly moving and beautiful. Some people said such lovely things!

Also ate incredible food (naturally). One of my best friends baked lots of different cakes / cupcakes / brownies, and another who was hosting made loads of amazing savoury food, so feeling very contented.

Basically I have incredibly lady friends, and feel incredibly privileged and loved and supported and spoiled. It feels very apt for mothers' day!

Hope everyone is having a lovely restful time today.

(We're no further with packing but will cross that bridge tomorrow Confused)

36+4

BrixtonBunny · 15/03/2015 20:01

Realised I used the word incredible a lot in that last post...sorry! Just feeling very moved.
