For ladies planning to breastfeed I found some resources for the menfolk on breastfeeding, I have sent them to DH whilst he's temporarily guilted into actually reading stuff, and dunno if your menfolk might find them useful:

Thanks for the links. Boo. My OH whilst on side is concerned about bonding or lack of for him. I will send to him.

brummagem · 05/03/2015 06:43

cinnamon will the liners you get from mothercare be any use? They do a lovely sheepskin one. Back in yesteryear when I was born car seats were just moulded plastic so my parents used a sheepskin liner to make it more comfortable and less sticky to peel me out of. I have no idea if it's still viable as am still naive at this sort of stuff.

RL20 · 05/03/2015 07:01

Morning everyone.
Randomly woke up at 6am and was going to try and get back to sleep but apparently another assessor is coming to look at where they'd possibly re-fit the pipes, between 8am and 10am. So not sure it's worth trying to go back to sleep Confused although they're more likely to come at 9.55am!!
Cannot wait to (hopefully) have a nice hot bath tomorrow. We'll see.

Lady hope you're scan goes well on Monday. I've read on mumsnet numerous times that growth measurements aren't totally accurate, so try not to worry.
And have a lovely Wedding too! Thanks

Oh Daholster. Huge sympathies and understanding for you BrewThanks
Card can be so expensive and a nightmare at times. And it's true that everything comes at once, I should know! Hopefully that's the worst of it now though. And your PILs sound lovely and I'm sure they don't mind helping you out! Try not to see yourself as a burden!
Hope you did end up going to bed and didn't start tidying up! Sounds like you needed a well deserved rest!

Ebwy - hope you get something sorted today or at least some sort of an answer RE csection date.

Penguin - Your worries sound the same as what I have been thinking! But daren't say aloud! BrewThanks
When me and my partner were talking the other night, he was more concerned that he actually didn't want me to go back to work so 'early' (December- which will be the 39 weeks that are paid for) it was hard trying to explain to him that it would be him that would have to look after us if he wanted that though. I think eventually he understood that that would leave us skint and I'm only going back part-time anyway as I was before, hopefully with a few extra hours, and my mum will have baby when I'm at work anyway, as she works different hours to me.
I'm sure you're friend was just grateful to be around you and probably knows there's not a lot that you could have said! She probably just needed to vent a bit.
Also I agree with the others, to say no. But also they might not visit as much as you think anyway. I'm definitely overthinking about that too. Although it's not my family I'm worried about, it's my partners. There's too many of them and they just like to get their head into any new 'goings on'. But I'm hoping that what will be a novelty to them will wear off after a short while!

Well, I'm definitely not going back to sleep now, it seems. It's now 7am, I'm starting to get hungry and I can see underneath the blind that it's light outside Hmm

FiRaffe · 05/03/2015 07:16

Wish I could go back to sleep - nice fun dream about baby coming early and me having nothing. It just arrived whilst I was out shopping without any warning of labour (unlikely!!!!). Off to another day at work tired..yay!

Hope you find a new liner cinnamon - somewhere must do them you'd think!

Siarie · 05/03/2015 07:22

Sometimes you look at something and have to wonder is life really random, when so many crap things happen at once.

I hope everyone who has had a tough few days finds things improving. I've been having a patch of calm here, not too much to report.

I wish I was having a scan, I haven't seen her since 21 weeks which feels like ages ago. I've been measuring correct so far, so I suppose I should be happy. I find it weird how so many midwife appointments are bunched towards the final weeks as I feel like I'm near the end now.

Which is impressive since most of you are ahead of me.

32+3

RL20 · 05/03/2015 07:46

Only a week ahead of you here, Siarie. 33+3.
Do you mean how often you have a midwife appointment now? Mine used to be every 4 weeks but now they're every 3 weeks. And now I've started antenatal classes on a Tuesday, which I have 3 more of, I'll be just over 36weeks when I've finished them ShockShock
And yes I often though I wish I could see baby again. But remember that when people do at this stage, it's normally not for a very nice reason, eg I had a scan last week (or the week before?) due to reduced movements, and I wasn't aware I was going to have the scan until the last minute, as I'd had the monitoring etc. But because it was the second time in 4 weeks that I'd had concerns, they just wanted to double check.
You could always book a private scan , too? We were going to book one of those 3D/4D scans, as I went privately for a reassurance scan at around 16 weeks (my mind wouldn't rest between the 12 week and 20 week scans!). But then our financial situation changed so we never did book for the 3D scan in the end. If you have the money though, the extra scan is so worth it.

Hope you're day at work is ok Firaffe!

My first week of maternity leave and I've had to wake up relatively early nearly every day so far for these contractors/assessors!
Can't believe I've got to get up and make myself look presentable for them to possibly turn up in... 15 mins! Shock

skyra13 · 05/03/2015 07:46

Daholster Hoping things get better for you :) I have got to book my car in next month and there is always something wrong.
I have had a slow puncture in my car since before xmas and I just pump it up every week as can't afford a new one Blush
Husband has his car due in a few days hope he don't need much doing to it.

TheBooMonster Glad your husband has finally started to take notice even if it did take an argument for it to happen.
I would like to say my husband has but he has not but that's probably due to me as it has still not sunk in that I will be having a baby next month!

cinnamongreyhound Not sure what car seat you have but I know for my Britax one they do summer and winter covers maybe you could find something.

On a brighter note hope you are all doing well :) I got my 99p ISOFIX base last night so I am very happy and in good working order so can just use the new car seat and swap between both cars makes life a bit easier.
Been thinking it might be time for me to get a bit more of a sensible car though mine is only a 2 door and its kind of a boy racer car! lol but I love it to much! Grin

Been starting to think how is my dog going to cope with a baby around he has never seen one! I am hoping he will be fine as he is also my baby!

daholster · 05/03/2015 07:57

Morning all, thank you for your kind words. I'm sure there is lots of interestingly philosophy about whether bad things truly do bunch together more or whether we just notice/feel it more when when especially hard thing is already happening. But it has felt ridiculous!!!

Am waiting for dd to wake up for nursery so I can go to the labour ward for an assessment. I rang them after my shower because I woke this morning with some funny blob in my mouth, spat it out and it was a clot of blood! Shock Got a bit more of it from back of nose etc (sorry tmi) and looked in the mirror in my mouth, which was filling with blood (think it's teeth) and I looked like Dracula, dried blood round my mouth!!!

Kept spitting it out while in the shower. It seemed to settle, when I coughed nothing came up looking ominous (coughing up blood I'm supposed to watch for with the HHT).

Then I changed my stoma bag and the base was bleeding enough to be dripping down my leg, which is odd, and from underneath (where I can't see) too. Not from inside it I don't think thankfully.

So they want to check baby and check bloods. I've felt a couple of little wriggles this morning thankfully,so I'm not too worried, but I'm wiped, even writing this is making my wrists and arms ache so I have to keep stopping!!! Lack of iron taking coming to bite me on the bum? We will see! Might be a virus or something. Anyway, I'm taking my iron now like a good (well, better) girl...

Best get dd up or I'll never get there. I'll let you know what they say! Glad the chocolate spread on bread has taken that icky blood taste away, for now at least, yuck!!!

34+2

skyra13 · 05/03/2015 08:17

I hope the hospital goes ok and nothing to serious.

I spit blood regularly visited the dentist as my gums had gone really soft said was due to hormones changing I have to use the corsadyl toothpaste now it has helped but my teeth do bleed alot still. Hope its something as simple as that causing you problems!

TinyTear · 05/03/2015 08:35

i think pregnancy weakens your gums, but it is better to get everything checked!

PenguinPoser · 05/03/2015 08:36

Thanks Boo I love the no is a complete sentence! And for the links - I'm going to show DH later on. Hope your antenatal class goes well and your childcare for DD is sorted out.

Thankyou RL I was going to say I'm pleased you feel the same - well I'm not as involves worries and tears but I'm glad I'm not the only one iyswim!
Feel weird this morning waking up to find my friend from work had her baby last night! She was 38+ weeks but we were convinced mine would be here first as my induction date was her due date! So feel like no fair I want my baby now! Also 2 more babies overnight of various Facebook aquaintances!!

Hope things are ok daholster!!

Lauren82000 · 05/03/2015 08:50

FiRaffe I had a similar dream last night. I'd woken up in a puddle (as in my waters had gone) in Southampton so we have nothing with us except my notes in the car! I had to send DH out to buy a car seat so we could get home. Baby didn't actually make an appearance though.

Still not quite caught up, but a big congrats to Babiecakes. Little one is very cute.

Doing the awkward hanging around before the funeral, meeting distant relatives of DH.

PenguinPoser · 05/03/2015 08:52

Lauren hope your day is as ok as it can be given the circumstances Flowers

cinnamongreyhound · 05/03/2015 09:19

Thanks for the ideas skyra13 and Brummagem!!!

Sorry to hear you're worrying PenguinPoser, it is normal though!! I'd never done anything with a newborn before I had ds1. You will cope and more than cope so try not to spend time worrying (which I know is impossible!) about something that you have no idea about. Think duck to water Wink

Yay for your midwife Misty414, if you're comfortable with a cs then no point putting yourself through something that is often unsuccessful Flowers

Another one with bleeding gums here daholster, hope it's nothing more sinister! Definitely good to check it all out though.

Glad you've got it all out TheBooMonster even if it was an arguement, hope things change now.

Had a good nights sleep and a lovely refreshing run withy buddy this morning so feeling much more positive. Dss is still not wanting to go to school and they have got him to talk to the pastoral teacher af school and he's blmaig the baby ConfusedHmm. Seeing as Dh and I have had two babies since we've been together and nothing has ever changed for him so without sounding unsympathetic I don't believe it. Why would that stop him going to school? I think he's smart enough to figure that everyone always says kids worry about new babies and he's blaming that when there's clearly (in my mind) something else going on!

daholster · 05/03/2015 09:26

This room isn't too bad. Waiting for assessment. Happily I know one of the on call doctors, how lovely, and the midwife recognises me from my last pregnancy when I was in for a week at 35 weeks!!!

Oh, just been moved to day assessment instead, oh well. I was going to take a nice photo of the room for you!

smogsville · 05/03/2015 09:44

RL I think it's great that your mum can have your baby while you do a bit of PT work from 39 wks. My mum and DD have a lovely bond as mum has had her two days a week since she was one. This morning DD was asking where her 'other mummy' was - I asked who she meant and she said 'nana', as if it was perfectly obvious! Hope you get some answers on pipes/ hot water today too. I wouldn't worry about looking presentable just swap your pj bottoms for jeans and plonk a hoodie on your top half.

My top tip on partners helping with BF - make sure us mums have a glass/ bottle of water to hand before we start each feed! It's v odd but literally as soon as DD latched on, I would be overwhelmed with the most incredible thirst. Did other people have this or just me?

Siarie if you fancy another scan just look on babybond (or one of many other providers) website you can just book an ad hoc private one, probably at quite short notice if you can be flexible on times. Our hospital does a 36 wk one as standard but I know that's not what happens everywhere. I used bb for an 18 wk gender scan, they have consulting rooms on Harley st.

daholster good one on ringing mw, see what they say and maybe make a dentist appt. preg can defo screw with gums. My first inkling that I could be preg was when I bled for England at my hygienist appt - I was about three weeks. good that you're feeling baby wriggling.

Yes Lauren, what Penguin said.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 05/03/2015 10:13

"only the consultants can book your caesarian, sorry"

feels like I'm banging my head against a wall.

FiRaffe · 05/03/2015 10:20

Aww Ebwy sorry to hear that. Hope you can get it sorted soon.

Hope all is okay daholster!

Siarie · 05/03/2015 10:20

I was going to book a private scan but my placenta is in the way, I've had two private scans so far this pregnancy and the lady said the 3D scans wouldn't be able to get a picture if she happens to be lying on the placenta side :/

So that's why we thought well it's not worth it, otherwise I suppose we would have. Smog can't believe you get a 36 week one as standard! It does seem like quite a long time to go without checking on things. I don't know how much they can tell but it would be nice to know the the placenta is still good and working, I would have thought more scan would help reduce the stillbirth rates.

After saying I was having a quiet day, I've started feeling really funny again today. My heartrate keeps bloody jumping up and I look like a ghost, guess I better be sure to have an iron pill for lunch! Lying on my left side seems to help.

Viewing a house later today, we are starting our search for a new place in London. Somewhere a bit more family orientated so will be interesting to go visit later, I've never been to the area we are looking at.

TinyTear · 05/03/2015 10:23

which areas are you looking at Siarie?

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 05/03/2015 10:24

well I see the consultant and have a scan in a week and a bit, so it'll have to be sorted then

I want to make an official complaint but will do so AFTER I'm finished with them...

Siarie · 05/03/2015 10:33

Today we are looking at a place in Wimbledon Tiny but really any South West London that is near a tube station. Ideally I would rather DH didn't have to get a train as every morning you see delays or overcrowding on those.

But yeah anywhere he can commute into central London, ideally with direct links to Waterloo or Westminster. I'd personally like 3 bedrooms or more plus a garden but I'm not opposed to living in another apartment. I've spent the morning looking at rentals but I'm so fussy. Where we live at the moment has a kind of polish to it, neutral décor, ultra modern fixtures and fittings so I don't want to move into somewhere someone has just rented out because they couldn't sell it. If you know what I mean? They tend to leave like random colours on walls.
