Hello All

Hope I am correct in beginning a thread for July 07. BFP today (23rd October) and EDD 2nd July 07.

By way of a brief introduction; live in the South West, work part-time, have DD aged 5 and DS who is almost 3. Have been incredibly lucky this time as made decision to try for third and hey presto seem to have achieved it on first attempt (much to DH disappointment if you know what I mean!!).

Look forward to 'meeting' you and sharing this amazing experience with you.

Glad to hear the pains have settled and bleeding only light now. Every time a get a twinge,,ache or crampy feeling I panic though I'm told its normal to get these feelings anyway. Take care, not too long to wait now, though it seems forever.I've just worked outI've got to wait another 20 days for the scan though if the bleeding happens again I'll definately call them again. Hope you're managing to take it easy. Keep thinking of all that christmas shopping I should be doing, ah well, it'll have to wait..

Miaou · 08/12/2006 10:30

Hi there everyone. Has anyone else not yet been contacted by their midwife yet? I am now 8+ weeks and have not heard a sausage yet. I expected at least a phonecall by now. If she has not been in touch by next week I shall be making a phonecall because time is moving on and I want to make sure I get a scan!

justbeme · 08/12/2006 11:58

Afternoon! No Miaou, Im nearly 11 wks and havent been contacted yet.
Sorry to hear about ev 1's bleeding etc - Ive been experiencing a really sharp stabbing pain in my left ovary area - maybe 4 times in a couple of minutes or once an hour and then nothing - any ideas any 1 or any one else with this?

LieselVonGiftwrapp · 08/12/2006 12:42

Me neither, but its been 5 years since Ive done this so dont remember the procedure, and apparently the procedures changed as well. Im 8+ weeks also

mrspf · 08/12/2006 13:45

I didn't get to see a midwife until after my 12 week scan last time round- the scan appointment was booked through my GP.

I saw my midwife last week when I was 9 weeks pg, so you may hear shortly, but if you really want to see them soon, I suggest you phone to check that the referral process has worked and that they have you down on their list.

My local hospital is getting really full up in terms of getting scan appointments - mine is at 8.30am on 21 Dec when they usually only open at 9am so worth giving yours a call to check they can fit you in! I guess with Christmas/New Year coming up, they need to cram people into the available days.

Good luck.

abgirl · 08/12/2006 14:17

So had my first scan this morning and everything is fine - saw baby's heart beating and is the right size, was too early for the nuchal test so going back in two weeks, luckily they still had some appointments available.

Also saw the consultant, lovely man even though he looked about 17. V reassuring, have been prescribed daily aspirin and booked in for a doppler scan at 24 weeks (as well as normal growth scan at 20 weeks) and will have further scans to monitor baby's growth later on. Asked about likelihood of another c-section, he said there was a good chance it would be another one - I'm not desperate to give birth normally but the recovery time sounds better! Will also be having blood pressure checked v regularly from 20 weeks onwards. Finally was sternly told that if I feel tired or stressed am to go home immediately at put my feet up - which I will be delighted to follow!!

The news is now out at work and am celebrating with cakes and chocs. Also told MIL who was v excited...

HI all
I am due 15th July, found out 3 weeks ago but only just got back on line. we moved from Cyprus to Germany, 2nd November, and then hubby deployed to Iraq on the 22nd Nov, so things are fairly hectic. I already have a dd 10years old and a ds 2years.

abgirl · 08/12/2006 15:07

Hi Luckylady and welcome to the thread!

luckylady · 08/12/2006 15:39

Just been reading through the thread.

Abgirl, glad everything went ok. If it is any consulation, I had arough first pregnancy, my waterswent at about 21 weeks (found out at 28 through a scan,I had IUGR, and was in hospital for 9weeks. DD was born via section at 36weeks, healthy. Second pregnancy no probs what so ever and even managed a VBAC, which I pushed for as consultant wanted to section me again. So hopefully all will be ok in this pregnancy, it is noce having more scans than normal though with second I was scanned every 4 weeks which made the time pass quicker and I got to see him more..which is good.

I to feel alot thicker round the waist, but midwife did say that as this is my third I could well have already come out of the pelvis, hardley any of my clothes fit and I dont have much in the way of maternity clothes left from last time. Will have to do some shopping after christmas!!!.

I am finding things difficult at the moment as dont really know anyone hear, so if I start to babble excuse me I am just lonely, hubby will be back from Iraq hopefully in Feb but not holding my breathe. Thats enough for now, sorry for waughling...

Take care all..

giulia68 · 08/12/2006 15:47

luckylady - welcome and don't worry about waffling - that's what it here's for.. poor you having you DH away, that is hard.
abgirl - thanks again for the league and that is great news about your scan and consultant visit. i had my scan today and saw heartbeat and heard it, very reassuring, oh and they moved me on a day, so i am 6+5 now. every day counts when you are subsumed by MS...
firststar - glad you are feeling happier.

justbeme - re stabbing pains i have that too on left hand side - think it is a cyst had it last time too. a scan will tell you so if it continues you could ask for one. i think it is pretty common.

Chooster · 08/12/2006 16:10

Welcome luckylady! And the more waffle on here the better, so please just chat away . I know there are some ladies on here who are also in Germany so may be worth posting on the chat section and see if anyone else is in the same boat as you. Very hard with your DH away - at least you have DD and DS to keep you company.

Abgirl - Very pleased for you - its great everything has gone well and you've got a good care plan. Thanks for the weekly chart. Whenever I see it I get reminded how far we are coming on and its great!

Firststar - so pleased that you seem to be having a good day today - lets hope that all continues and Tuesday is a wonderful experience seeing Firststar junior for the first time.

Hi everyone else!!! Hopefully MS is starting to go for some of us. At least we stand a good chance of feeling better at xmas. I feel for the due in August ladies who'll probably be at the height of MS then

Gingerbics · 08/12/2006 17:04

Welcome Lucky Lady, sure we'll all be doing our fair share of waffling so no worries there!

Congrats Abgirl and Guilia on your scans and heartbeats, brilliant news, seems much more real now I bet.

Glad you're having a better day today Firststar, I feel more positive today too (despite being on knicker and boob watch!

Fancying macaroni cheese for tea, gone right off sweet stuff but loving savoury stodge, especially cheesy food, yum!

Hi everyone, yep it's going to be a very sober Christmas for all of us. I don't mind skipping the booze so much, but I love all the Christmas-y things like pate and soft, runny cheese. If anyone's pining like me for a plate of camembert, I've just found out Waitrose do a lovel pasteurised runny soft cheese called Epoise. As good as the real thing, but a bit stinky. Can't get enough at the moment.
Hi Luckylady - good to have you onboard. Hope February rolls around quickly for you.

dorisofdevon · 08/12/2006 20:00

Evening ladies, and hi to gingerbics and luckylady- I had dd in Gib with the SSAFA midwives and it was brilliant, completely different this time though not impressed and v. jealous of all you lucky lucky ladies with scans Plymouth doesn't "DO" 12week dating scans or nuchal scans so my first and only scan will be at 20 weeks some time end of Jan think it was worked out at. Almost tempted to go private any thoughts????

MS has been dreadful recently end up lying in bed with heat pad ( wheat filled thingy) on my stomach which helps when the stomach is so empty and I can't face anything, although had some healing last night don't very often but was desperate and today got up put christmas decs up, out to park with dd and had my sister back for lunch with triple trouble (her brood) feel like I am putting 2 and 2 together and getting 6 but something seems to have worked olny couple of episodes of queasiness whereas for past few days have barely moved from the couch don't care just feel better Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fingers crossed to all those with spotting and hugs and vom bowls to all those with ms xxx

Miaou · 08/12/2006 20:14

well after me saying this morning that I still hadn't heard from my midwife, she called me this afternoon and asked if it was convenient to do my booking in appointment today! So I have now been seen

Two potential problems - firstly she thinks my appendix scar may cause me some issues (I got pg a few days after having my appendix out so it's still pretty "fresh"); and secondly I've already got sugar in my urine. I always get this in pregnancy but this time it's started really early. Hopefully it won't lead to anything further but I was threatened with GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) last time and only narrowly avoided it, so hmmm we shall see!

littlepiggie · 08/12/2006 20:38

hope everyone is ok, throwing lots of baby sticking dust to us all, 2 lots to those who have had spotting.

I am feeling so bloated, not put weight on as such as normal eveywhere else, but this happend with ds at about the same time, it lasted about a month, but last time i had stomach muscles. what joy!

dorisofdevon · 08/12/2006 20:38

Miaou- re the gtt good that they're keeping an eye better to find out if you need to alter your diet slightly than end up with further complication (like a BIG baby!!!) look on the positive side and the GTT is painles (I think except a little bit of blood??)
At least the mw have caught up with you!!!! there's no escape now....

Miaou · 08/12/2006 20:42

thanks doris - ah yes, blood

She couldn't take my bloods today - veins refused to co-operate!! I hate needles too . So I have to go into the surgery again on Monday to have another go!! Argh.

dorisofdevon · 08/12/2006 21:12

If it's really bad get her to put some ametop on (aneastetic cream used for paeds) the both of you can relax a little more

I'm waiting to have my bloods done still mw gave me the chit and said get someone you like to do it, but I'm off work sick at the mo which she knew so just waiting and worring that my iron levels are low !!!

Now going to research cost of private scans

JennStarOfWonder · 08/12/2006 22:26

Hello folks.
I vommed for the first time on Weds morning into the kitchen bin, and as I was wretching I pissed myself.

I got my booking appointment done Wed too and my scan is next Wednesday. I had ++blood in my urine sample that was promptly lost by hospital so have to repeat it next week. I'm not too worried as am not spotting and have no uti symptoms but it doesn't exactly instil you with confidence does it?

Luckylady, hope the consultant wants to C-section you and not section you under the mental health act!

I had my Risk Assessment at work Thursday. The only consideration for me being pregnant is I get a stool!!! There is nothing else that they can do to help me, but lift stuff for me.

Kyte how are your ankles? Any better?

Justbeme I had really bad pain on one side that was explained as ligament stretching.

Miaou I had GTT last time because my grandma had and dad has type 2 diabetes. You just have to drink a very sweet drink and then have blood taken. (I can't remember if it was once or twice.) I got a massive hypo after and had to lie on the sofa shaking after spooning honey into my mouth.

Regarding pasteurised cheese, I was told unpasteurised hard cheese like gruyere and parmesan are ok if they are cooked, but soft rind ripened cheese even if the milk that makes it is pasteurised is not!
