Hello All

Hope I am correct in beginning a thread for July 07. BFP today (23rd October) and EDD 2nd July 07.

By way of a brief introduction; live in the South West, work part-time, have DD aged 5 and DS who is almost 3. Have been incredibly lucky this time as made decision to try for third and hey presto seem to have achieved it on first attempt (much to DH disappointment if you know what I mean!!).

Look forward to 'meeting' you and sharing this amazing experience with you.

Afternoon, ladies,
Glad to hear everyone's doing OK.
Kyte, I developed a strategy when DD was born and I found absolutely EVERYONE had a 'gem of advice' for me. In the end, I said that for each peace of advice I was given, I'd give one piece back to that person. Put the fear into my mother-in-law in the end, I can tell you...
Now then. Just eaten two rounds of chicken sandwiches. What else is in the house? Think I've got a jam roll lurking at the back of the cupboard...

Chooster · 30/11/2006 12:43

Sorry you've been having a rough time Typhoonsmum - thats all you need. You'e had some great advise on here already so hopefully thats spurred you on to take on FF again.

Wow Kyte - Of course - You're going to have lots and lots of caring people swarming round you when you've got your bump (sorry dont want to make you feel worse!). Like you say a sense of humour will work wonders

3flights - Ah, I understand better now. You must be so so pleased then with the heartbeat!!! Hopefully thats you getting over the M/C hurdle and like you say, the rest is manageable. Given that there is a 1% chance of something nasty happending with this baby when you have the CVS, I'm shocked they told you to prepare for the worst! I've got to say I've had amazing care up here and this time everyone has been great again. We live about 1 mile from Davidsons Mains in Barnton - its almost spitting distance really (not that I would of course!).

earlyriser · 30/11/2006 13:08

Thanks for the info Kyte, hope all your spotting has stopped. isn't it amazing for something so natural we have to be ultra careful. My dp is away for another 2 weeks and my mum is babysitting my nephew so will have to do some lifting -how else will i get my crisp supply home from the shops , my 13mo dd not walking yet so have no option but to lift her (thankfully she is a petite little thing. But will rest up as much as i can. Had a fun afternoon yesterday, issuing instructions to dd from the sofa 'go get a book and mummy will read to you' etc!
Typhoonsmum, i had to have a risk assessment done with my line manager last time i was pg which meant i had to get the kids to carry all the books from the store to the classroom etc. I really milked it! I'm surprised that there is nothing in place like that at your place of work.

Anyone else getting more headaches than usual? Normally afternoons and nightime for me. Last few days I've had a couple of real thumpers - last time, this mornig at 4.00am. Seems to go if I have sugar - orange juice, or something - is this me just deluding myself?

kyte, that's great to hear the spotting has stopped. it may start again -as i said i bled 4 weeks on and off - and even if it starts again it can mean nothing. just keep going asking for those scans if it does come back.

3flights - hello that's great. you are over the first ( big) hurdle as you say, which is an achievement.

typhoonsmum your work situation sounds very frustrating. i would definitely write down what happens in some detail as a record. i hope it was ok today?

cakehead -i have had headaches too on and off - i gather they are a symptom.. does anyone know if this is though; ulcers all over my tongue? really sore feel like it's been sandpapered? or is it just a sign of being er - 'run down...' hope one and all of you on here are well. x

typhoonsmum · 30/11/2006 18:09

I've got the date for my scan.

14 December. Another milestone to reach.

And my maternity exemption certificate. Might actually go to the dentist now!

Cakehead · 30/11/2006 18:11

Interesting that others are having headaches too. Firststar, probably not drinking as much water as I should, though. Really odd, I never get them normally and i've had a couple of blinders recently.

Ulcers, I think, are probably just another symptom too. I read that in terms of nourishment, the baby will absolutely drain you before going without, so maybe some supplements might help, Giulia? I take Pregnacare, but not every day, as it bungs me up!

earlyriser · 30/11/2006 19:04

Giulia, you have my sympathies, ulcers are crap, i spent one christmas day with 13 in my mouth. I find that marmite (or vitamin B complex tablets) works for ulcers, you have to take them every day though. i don't know if it will get rid of them but it should stop any more coming. I asked the doc and he said it was fine to take during pregnancy. HTH. Can't recall who mentioned being cold but is this also a symptom? i've been feeling the cold even more than usual. Bizarre!

giulia68 · 30/11/2006 19:12

earlyriser and cakehead - thank you. you are miles better than nhsdirect - only joking not phoned them. i will try all those remedies. love marmite and particularly loving crumpets at the moment so that will be an excellent remedy.
earlyriser - has your spotting stopped - how are you feeling?

earlyriser · 30/11/2006 19:15

Thanks giulia, my spotting has stopped, i really think it was down to carrying dd in the backpack so will be buggy pushing from now on. Very scary though, dp being away and hormones raging does not make for rational reactions! Thanks for all advice/concerns.

Cakehead · 30/11/2006 19:40

Earlyriser - yes I am cold too! Was moaning to DH about it and he couldn't believe how cold my hands and feet are. Generally I just feel a bit shivery too, but not like I'm ill. I imagined it was because blood was being diverted to other bits of me now! No idea if it's true, but it's what I thought...
And Giulia - I'm into crumpets as well. But I'm having (wait for it - don't read if you're feeling queasy) sardine and tomato paste on mine! I know. Would normally seem gross to me too, but is absolute nectar right now...

beartime · 30/11/2006 20:32

MS kicking in a bit - not sure whether to be relieved or unhappy! Had my blood test today too so I feel more pregnant

Kyte - I had 60 churchgoers last pregnancy, but out of those 60 only 2 wanted to pat the bump thankfully Funnily enough the first few months I hated it cos I felt like 'get your hands of my stomach!' but after that when the bump felt different it was more detached and less a part of me and I guess the feeling is less too so I didn't care as much! Just glad I'm not somewhere like America where people are more forward - I hear you have strangers in the supermarket patting your bump there!

Typhoonsmum - i'm also saving up the dentist till I get my certificate! Though its a real hassle here cos everyones gone private so I have to drive 25 miles to get to the dentist.

Cakehead if you mean bunging up as the dreaded contstipation, have you tried sanatogen? I have been taking that for ages now and it hasn't been a problem/ Also have you tried prunes - I hate them so I chop them up and put them in my cereal now and can't taste them that way!

ooh those crumpets sound good, does anyone sell wholemeal ones... I'm really trying to stick to the wholemal thing right now and I can't find any!

dorisofdevon · 30/11/2006 20:39

Cakehead- that's truely disgusting ( sorry if that offends {wink}

Feeling particulrly awful here anyway though have been signed off until monday established that i wasn't much use to anyone!

Kyte glad you're feeling a little better, and TM hope today went ok

Hi to everyone and this will get better
going to my bed to feel sorry for myself

3flightsofstairs · 30/11/2006 21:35

I'm so ridiculous. No MS? Ha! Haven't managed to leave the house today, DS not impressed. That'll teach me...

Hope round 2 went well today TM.

Chooster, I know, the genetics counsellor did it last time too - seems to be hospital policy. Scared the living daylights out of me and we nearly didn't get it done. Can't believe you live in Barnton! Took your advice and booked flights this pm, feel much better.

Kyte - try touching tummies back and see what happens!

Good luck with the headaches and ulcers. I'm taking sanatogen too, placebo effect seems to be working

keiralou · 30/11/2006 21:41

Have got a corker of an ulce right on the under/side of my tongue - really painful. Headache front seems ok but anytime I can feel one coming I down a load of water. I know I'm just not drinking enough water...
Never get enough time to talk to all of you as I'm working full time and have dd to look after after that. Hope you'll still let me be a part timer!

beartime · 30/11/2006 22:11

LOL 3 flights at your touching tummies back

I was thinking today about those of you who have problem chromosomes in the family and reminding myself how i should be be thankful that I don't have that to deal with too - that must be hard for you on top of the m/c risk.

JennStarOfWonder · 30/11/2006 22:14

Earlyriser I have been absolutely FREEZING the last few days. REALLY cold. I think being pregnant you are meant to warmer than normal because of all the extra energy you are using.

I got migraines when I was on the combined pill and they stopped when I stopped taking it. The next time I got one I was pregnant. Think this one is because of all the extra Oestrogen.

Glad everybody who has been spotting has stopped and those who have had scans have been reassured.

dewmeadow · 01/12/2006 09:40

hi all! I also have been really cold, but cant really explain why! Must be hormones!

Whoever has an early riser (was it earlyriser?) ME too!! SHe was getting up at 5.30/6.00am. So I bought her a toddler alarm. It has numbers etc, but also a rabbits face with ears at the top. When he's awake his eyes are open and ears up, and when he's asleeo, eyes closed and ears down. I have it set for about 6.40am (cant expect miracles) and DD (just 3) knows that shes not allowed out of bed when rabbits sleeping. Got it in Great LIttle Trading Co, if you're interested.

My energy levels are so non existant! Before I was pregnant I was still losing preg weight from DS and doing shitloads of exercise. NOw I can bearly summon the effort to walk. Think Im just goign to have to accept being a fat momma until after this baby (touch wood)

Morning ev 1 - Im feeling very happy today as Ive been to the EPU for another scan - im now 10 weeks - the last scan was at 6 wks and was basically just a blob and heartbeat - but today..... theres a head and a body and limb buds (which because they r short looked like it was sucking its thumb!) and whilst scanning - it did a little shuffle - i went into the loo afterwards (as you do!) and had a little weep of joy! Been told that if i want a Nuchal wats it ma callit - you have to go private (£160 ish) otherwise you wait till your 14 weeks (i think) and have the nhs blood test - something beginning with C ? Any advice any body - i cant even remember the stuff i was told, let alone what to do!

Chooster · 01/12/2006 11:58

Hi everyone!

Justbeme - I've had both the nuchal fold and the blood tests and (as far as I can remember) they both just give you an indication or a risk ratio of the baby having a problem, although I think the blood test is able to analyse more. But, neither are conclusive... You know the results of the nuchal test while you are being scanned whereas you have to wait for the results of the blood test. I guess it depends how impatient you are . At least thats how I remember it all! I may be way off....

3flights - I know its really close to where you will be Because of all the cloak and dagger stuff on mumsnet I often wonder if there are people on here that I know!

I'm feeling cold too - strange isn't it - I never noticed being cold before... My MS is yuk now - I can't believe I was so naive thinking it wouldn't happen this time. Urrrgh - Its woken me up the last 3 nights and I've had to stuff crackers in my mouth at about 3am.

Hope everyone is doing well today
