Hello All

Hope I am correct in beginning a thread for July 07. BFP today (23rd October) and EDD 2nd July 07.

By way of a brief introduction; live in the South West, work part-time, have DD aged 5 and DS who is almost 3. Have been incredibly lucky this time as made decision to try for third and hey presto seem to have achieved it on first attempt (much to DH disappointment if you know what I mean!!).

Look forward to 'meeting' you and sharing this amazing experience with you.

Hello everybody, time is really flying isn't it.

I seem to be doing well with no real morning sickness. I found last time that 'ear seeds' worked. They are little seeds on sticky paper that you put on a certain part of your wrist. I have a pack of ten left so first up can have them. I will post as they are tiny and write the instructions with them. I don't know how the cat thing works though.

I have been exercising my legs getting the chocolate digestives, must pay more attention to what beartime posted !!

cazzybabs · 23/11/2006 13:48

Please ignore - just need to moan and some sympathy as I can't get it from anywhere else!

Oh god I am so tired and hormonal...a collegue at work said in a slightly cross manner "don't ask me now" and I went away and felt very teary!!!! and my not yet bump is aching - hope its not a bad sign and my class are being roudy and my classroom assistant is off ill, I have lost about thousand things and have a million more to do and my collegue is poorly and so off....stress stress stress...

I am just moaning!

Chooster · 23/11/2006 13:54

Aaaarrrrghhhh, let it out cazzybabs!!!!! Nightmare... Make sure you put your feet up tonight and just chill out.

I used preggie pops before - got them from mothersbliss.co.uk - I think they helped - to be honest I was taken so much stuff by then for MS that I'm not sure what was good and what was not...

Miaou · 23/11/2006 18:00

cutiebabies, I'm collecting remedies here

emmyb, I really know what you mean! I think the first trimester is by far the hardest, and yet it is the time when you have so few outward symptoms and are not visibly pregnant - hard, isn't it? I am already so fed up of 24/7 nausea and judging by my previous experiences have at least another 13 weeks of it!

just wanted to say goodluck with trip tomorrow emmyb- I am also a teacher and last pg had to go to the farm with 120 7/8 yr olds feeling wretched! They were all trying to get me to play in the ball pit etc while i was trying not to vom or indeed let any of the parent helpers know I was pg! Lots of fun - will be thinking of you! (As if school trips arent bad enough when you arent pg)!x

emmyb · 23/11/2006 18:24

thanks baysmum

Tutter · 23/11/2006 18:27

hi bubble - our dates are the same!

Baysmum · 23/11/2006 19:02

Hi tutter and bubble, i am also due on 22nd xx

beartime · 23/11/2006 19:16

LOl at the constipation - ds and I were pooing in the bathroom at the same time today, and he was making far worse faces than me cos I didn't dare strain in case I miscarried. Needless to say he also finished pooing quicker than me!!

In case you don't get to check out the website here is the pregnancy diet in its basic form:

2 eggs a day
4 cups of milk a day (any type)
5 wholegrain servings a day (includes beans) - 1 serving = 1 slice of bread, wholegrain = wholemeal bread, or brown rice, wholegrain cereal (a bowl is about 2 servings) etc.
2 servings of green leafy vegetables a day (includes spinach, cabbage, broccoli, kale, all lettuce apart from iceberg - serving = about 1/2 a cup)
1 serving of yellow fruit or veg a day e.g. orange, satsuma, carrot, sweet potato, butternut squash
2 servings of lean meat/fish/cheese to equal 20-25g of protein per serving - you often have to check the packaging, as some things have hardly any protein in. 1 serving of cheese = 3oz
2 vit C rich foods every day e.g. tomato, potato, orange juice or orange, etc.
Abd of course anything else additionally you might want to eat though he recommends steering clear of refined sugar and flour and processed foods, and making everything fresh.

So Kyte - looks like you had a healthy meal to me - protein, wholegrain, green leafy and vitamin C

I had my first Midwife appointment today - home visit which was nice and 2hrs long! Supposed to be an hour but we were chatting! The only thing she questioned on the diet was the 2 eggs a day. So I looked on wikipedia, and apprently the choldestorol thing isn't as bad as people make out cos its good cholesterol, and isn't absorbed that much anyway. And here's the big thing - eggs contain choline which it says is good for pregnant women as it helps with fetal brain development. So I googled choline and pregnancy, and apparently, in rats LOL, it has been shown that increased choline during pregnancy leads to better brain function and memory of their babies! And now they recommend 450g per day of choline for pregnant women. And there are 200g in one egg - so I am deffo going to keep eating two eggs a day - I might get a brainy baby

Oh also she reckons I might be a bit more pregnant than I thought with due date 27th June, though she's still only guessing as I had a miscarriage directly before this pregnancy, so we will wait till the scan to find out. But can I stay even if it is then? [begging face]

bubble78 · 23/11/2006 19:34

hi another question (good job you lot are here) does anyone know if you can eat bio live organic yoghurt when pregnant i have emailed to company who make it and they refuse to say they said ask the doctor but i forgot this morning when i went to see him...

jennster · 23/11/2006 19:52

Yes sure you can eat live yoghurt. Never been told not to.

Beartime 2 eggs daily = stinkier more voluminous flatulence.

Cakehead · 23/11/2006 20:03

I'm sure bio live yoghurt is fine - it's just the unpasteurised stuff you have to avoid. And I'm delighted to hear about two eggs a day - I've been really craving them and just had two for my dinner.
Rotten how many of us are feeling lousy. I'm realising that not eating quite so much helps me not have a big wave of nausea later.

And Beartime, think I might be in the same boat re dates - Doctor thinks 29th, but I'm not leaving this thread, I'm not, I'm not.

bubble78 · 23/11/2006 20:06

cakehead and jenster thankyou i go and get my big pot out of the fridge now yum yum

Miaou · 23/11/2006 20:08

Cakehead and beartime - when I was pg with ds I originally thought I was due on 5th August, but when I went for my scan they put me back to 31st July - but I stayed on the August 2005 thread anyway! In the end I went into labour on my due date and he was born at 2.15am on the 1st August - so I got the prize for the first baby born that month!

giulia68 · 23/11/2006 20:12

Good evening ladies,
Beartime, thanks for all of your info - fascinating, though also making me feel my diet is not quite what it should be!

Cakehead, so sorry to hear you are feeling sick. I had DREADFUL MS for virtually the entire 40 weeks with ds, knew before I was pregnant that I was in fact, because I felt so nauseous. I am only 4.5 weeks now and not feeling anything - which is great - because I have a 17mos DS - and m/s is terrible - but also making me worry.... anyone else take longer to feel sick 2nd time round - or any time round ?

Bubble - I eat bio live yoghurt all the time so eeek if it isn't allowed...be interesting to know, pretty sure I did with DS too..

There is so much interesting stuff here but so many of us on this thread I feel bad not naming everyone but I honestly can't keep up with you all! Good wishes to all ladies though!

beartime · 23/11/2006 20:40

Yay Cakehead - glad I'm not the only one. I really don't want to be the last one on the other thread to pop and everyone's already had their babies, that would be horrible.

Bubble I agree I think only unpasteurised stuff is bad, and I have read that probiotics are OK for pregnancy - which has live bacteria in so same thing I think. Which yoghurt do you eat that is so yummy? I keep trying to find one that is moderately low fat and fruity but with all natural flavourings - can anyone help?

Guilia - aaargh its hard to spell some names me also not having MS and worrying but I don't think everyone gets it - my midwife told me today to see if boobs were sore, and if bloated, and other symptoms - then you're probably OK.

bubble78 · 23/11/2006 20:49

i have the yeo valley bio live organic strawberry flavour it is lovely imo

think i will put it down with one of my cravings

beartime · 23/11/2006 20:51

Oh another interesting thing happened today - Ds was bfing his evening feed and kept popping off every 30 secs, so I was thinking he's either full and doesn't want anymore or he doesn't want my milk - I squeezed and there was some there, but there might not have been that much. So as an experiment after he'd finished popping off about 15 times each side, I took him downstairs, put him in the highchair and put a whole cup of milk in front of him. I thought - if he's full he won't drink it, if he's hungry but doesn't like my milk, or there's not enough there then he'll drink it. And he polished the whole lot off! So i think I'm going to replace the evening feed tomorrow, and then finish totally pretty soon.
