Hello All

Hope I am correct in beginning a thread for July 07. BFP today (23rd October) and EDD 2nd July 07.

By way of a brief introduction; live in the South West, work part-time, have DD aged 5 and DS who is almost 3. Have been incredibly lucky this time as made decision to try for third and hey presto seem to have achieved it on first attempt (much to DH disappointment if you know what I mean!!).

Look forward to 'meeting' you and sharing this amazing experience with you.

Hello to all the new ones. Still think I've got the latest EDD. ( What I get for testing early)
So I'll see all you lovely people have beautiful babies while I remain fat and sweaty(hopefully.) This is the only year I hope July is not a hot month. A friend in work was due August 3 this year. She was so uncomfortable and hot.
Day off has been changed so I'm going to try and get appointment at GP today. That is why I am up at 7.10AM on my day off. Going to be first on that line when they open up.

typhoonsmum · 22/11/2006 08:33

Got thru. The appointment is at half nine. After I getback from taking DD to school

Chooster · 22/11/2006 08:51

Oh my goodness - this thread scoots along a realy old pace doesn't it!!

Welcome to the newcomers, time is really flying by - it wont be long until we see a "due in August" thread and we'll feel like old-timers

Typhoonsmum - Good luck today at your appt. Hope it makes you feel more relaxed

Sorry to all those who have M/S - I dont have it this time but have in previous pregnancies and its rotten isn't it. The only thing that seemed to help me was herbal tea and frosties cereal bars

I'm thinking about going to antenatal classes to meet other mums with babies the same age. I've a friend who's just had her second LO and she said the ante-natal classes offered through the GP's surgery had an even split between new and experienced mums. So I think I'll try that. I loved my NCT classes last time and still see the girls from there so would recommend them to any new mums.

Hey Bodkin - I know what you mean about worrying about jealousy. My DS is a real mummy's boy and, like your DD, he sometimes just wants to be cuddled when he's meant to be walking I dont think he's going to like it when a big bump comes between him and his mum.

Take care to everyone on here!!

Chooster · 22/11/2006 08:54

Oops, pregnancy brain - meant to say "this thread goes along at a right old pace"

abgirl · 22/11/2006 08:55

Hi all the newbies.

Doris when I had DS I found that ginger beer really helped with bad m/s. Oddly enough I don't particularly like ginger normally but got to the point last time where I was craving extra strong ginger beer. Nearly started crying when someone bought me ginger ale as it was the WRONG THING! This time am feeling more nauseous than actually sick, and it's lasting all day. I find eating helps.

Mumpbump our local NCT does a refresher course for second time mums so I am thinking about going to that.

Keep well everyone!

abgirl · 22/11/2006 08:58

Typhoonsmum have just read your part on the stats thread and wanted to say I totally empathise with the not really looking forward to being pregnant again. I had a horrible pregnancy last time and have been excited/terrified to be pregnant again. However I am really trying to focus on the outcome rather than the process IYKWIM...

THAT WAS SO EMBARASSING

The doctor was only one I worked with on the ward 6 months ago and the husband of a girl I went to school with. He is nice enough but still felt strange telling him that "yes this is my 4th pregnancy and I'm only 28. You and are your wife have no children in fact hardly anyone we went to school with does." I felt as if I don't know sort of cheap. I know there is nothing wrong with having children at 28 but out of a class of 90 pupils I think only 4 have children now. They have all focused on their careers. I have managed to do both.

bubble78 · 22/11/2006 10:04

Kyte, i wasn't saying that you shouldn't enjoy being pregnant but all first time mums should be aware that sometimes things can and do go wrong. I think everyone is so relieved to get to 12 weeks that to have anything unexpected afterwards can come as a real shock.

Typhoonsmum to have 4 children and a career at your age is a real achievement. You'll have the last laugh when you're independent and enjoying your 40's/50's when other people (including me) are dealing with teenagers!! If you're going to have a large family it's much healthier to do it at your age, something that I'm sure your GP would agree with!!

typhoonsmum · 22/11/2006 10:44

I have one child at the moment the other two pregnancies unfortunately m/c. I do feel as tho it is an achievement. As you say by the time I am forty I'll be mortgage free, and the children will be 16 and 12 Step daughter would be 25. When they will be up to their eyes in poo and screaming toddlers. If they ever get round to having children at all. I'll be one of those people on the SAGA holiday adverts. On three cruises a year. All my children will be well educated and earn a fortune. So I'll be able to pick the best nursing home on their salary and my school friends will still be funding their childrens universtiy degrees.

There I feel better now.

typhoonsmum · 22/11/2006 10:45

No offense intended to anyone who had children later in life. Just trying to convince myself having children in my twentys isn't a bad thing.

3flightsofstairs · 22/11/2006 11:36

Hiya! I've been loitering for days here deliberating whether to be brave and join in. Not that I'm a chicken (they can't type hoho) but I'm a M/C queen so I'm just keen to get to 12 weeks-ish. Have just booked a reassurance scan (next Tues - aargh!) so thought this might be a good time. Also don't know dates as haven't had the pleasure of AF since DS was born a year ago on Sat. And have a dodgy chromosome so even if we get to 12 weeks might not be such a good story anyway. Is this cheery enough?!!!
Hope to be slightly more upbeat in the future, just thought I'd get that out of the way!
xx

Bodkin · 22/11/2006 11:45

Typhoons mum - love your philosophy!! I am neither a young or particularly old mum (had DD at 31, will be 34 when No 2 arrives) But in a way, wish I started a couple of years earlier. Not so much for me, but DP is knocking on a bit!

Sorry to hear of you lot all suffering with dreadful MS. Must be very debilitating esp. if you've got small ones to chase after and nappies to change. Lots of sympathy from me.

Bubble at your DP!

Bodkin · 22/11/2006 11:47

Cross posts. Hi 3flights - hope the next 12 weeks fly by without any problems for you

emmyb · 22/11/2006 12:07

Hi all was feeling really sick all week and today i feel a lot better. I know i should be glad but what if??? Is this normal I am 7+2. My friend reckons I should be more positive and its only hormone surges??? i still dont feel completely normal though (do I ever but thats a different story .

Chooster · 22/11/2006 13:05

Hi - try not to worry emmyb - these things are so unpredictable. I've been worrying (See, I can't even take my own advise!) that this time I have no MS, whereas was floored with it on my last PG. Like your friend says its only hormones messing around. I hope you continue to feel good.

Hi 3flights and welcome to our gang I am in a similar boat with the chromosome's. My DH and I have the same dodgy gene so any little one has a 25% chance of getting a fatal condition - When can you be tested / scanned to see if your LO has inherited? You can tell me to bugger off if you dont want to answer

bubble78 · 22/11/2006 14:32

yes i at him too bodkin

3flightsofstairs · 22/11/2006 14:42

Hi Chooster, I'm having a CVS at 12 weeks (so I really need to work out my dates!!) which was horrible the last time from an emotional pov rather than a painful one. But it all worked out and we have an angel (who has just had an exploding nappy and a v early bath so a smellaqaay angel). He also helps with typing and is playing peepo behind the screen to make me laugh.1§§1§1§1
If anyone's having their first - enjoy! I've just had my best year ever.aw====
Random typing from smelly bum DSqwqw

3flightsofstairs · 22/11/2006 14:45

and good luck with your's too of course. Are you having a CVS or what are your plans? Have to go, DS going into overdrive!

Mumpbump · 22/11/2006 15:43

I have my booking-in appointment on 11th December and have yet to send off for the scan. I feel like I'm tempting fate so am holding off sorting it out. Haven't been feeling so pg recently - breasts aren't any bigger; no nausea anymore; and no indigestion since I cut out the all-bran - can you spot the connection there?? But, am wearing one of my smaller suits today and it does seem a little snugger around the waist so I am hoping a small bump might be developing. Most of my clothes hang off me 'cos I'm a size 6/8 and particularly scrawny since ds1 arrived so it is difficult to tell.

Chooster · 22/11/2006 15:57

Hi 3flights - Yes, I'm going to be having a CVS this time too. I had one with my last pregnancy but I found it really painful - although I think some of that may have been psychological as we knew there was a problem with the baby but at that stage didn't know what. So the CVS came at a pretty difficult time - and it didn't work first time so they had to go back in again... It still makes me shudder...

LickleRach · 22/11/2006 16:34

sorry for not knowing Chooster but what is a CVS? I'm new to all this so most terms/acronyms are alien to me.

Dewmeadow - this is the first time I've been pg and having read so much on MN worried about m/c but as you say, we can worry all our lives about our little ones! Once i've had scan so i know how far gone i am i will start to tell people I think.

I just feel constantly full! like i've eaten all the pies! no neat bump forming....just a spare tyre by the looks of things
