Hello All

Hope I am correct in beginning a thread for July 07. BFP today (23rd October) and EDD 2nd July 07.

By way of a brief introduction; live in the South West, work part-time, have DD aged 5 and DS who is almost 3. Have been incredibly lucky this time as made decision to try for third and hey presto seem to have achieved it on first attempt (much to DH disappointment if you know what I mean!!).

Look forward to 'meeting' you and sharing this amazing experience with you.

Lancashire is quite a large county. We are hopefully planning to move out towards Harrogate after xmas, so god knows where I will pop. The Burnley thing is temporary.

Hi Kyte, saw on internet today advert for insoles in pregnancy. Can't remember where but worth googling maybe ?

jennster · 15/11/2006 22:06

Kyte get some compression (surgical) stockings. I work on my feet all day and have worn them summer and winter for years. They are really comfortable and look just like black opaque tights. You will need to be measured by a pharmacist, but they are FREE if you get them on prescription now!

Anybody else thinking about a home birth? I had one for DD and it was BRILLIANT.

I have felt sick ALL day today and eaten hardly anything. Last few nights have been dreadful nights sleep. Am flaming knackered. Hope everybody else is getting on OK.

cazzybabs · 15/11/2006 22:08

OHH me I would like a home waterbirth! Had 1 hospital birth, I hospital waterbirth and now would like to try one at home - but we do have thin walls and crap windows and a small house! And the problem of the dear dds.

Miaou · 15/11/2006 22:21

I would love a homebirth but I can't have one - I live beyond the back of beyond and we have one midwife about 25 miles away, then hospital about 40 miles and a ferry ride away with the next nearest midwives - and you need two midwives for a homebirth!

Well I say I would love a homebirth - I actually prefer to be in hospital but I'm not really looking forward to the journey in! With ds I went into labour every night for a week and was admitted to hospital four times before he actually made an appearance - and I lived 30 miles closer to the hospital then!

Not sure what I am going to do this time ... not worrying about it yet!

cazzybabs · 15/11/2006 22:24

AHH yes Miaou - I thought your name was familar! Your birth story (sad that I am) is all coming back to me! Am very about your scottish remote life. Was it your husband who lost his car license (god I a not known for my tact!)??

cazzybabs · 15/11/2006 22:29

Oh god I must learn more tact - sorry....

Miaou · 15/11/2006 22:56

'Fraid so cazzybabs - and guess what - he gets it back 3 weeks after the baby is due

earlyriser · 16/11/2006 08:15

I really wanted a home birth last time but about 6 weeks before edd the midwife told me that they didn't have enough ataff to cover it. I was soooo disappointed as i'd been to visit the nearest hospital and been a bit put off by it. Thankfully i got a place in a community midwife unit a bit further away but it was fantastic, i was the only one giving birth there and got lots of attention and managed to have a waterbirth. Will definitely be going back there, even if i did have the chance of a home birth.

dewmeadow · 16/11/2006 09:30

you're all really thinking ahead, arent you? I feel far too superstitious.

CAnt spell or type all of a sudden, preggers memory has returned, tired (but I am up with my badly trained 8 month old every night!). ALso, really queasy and my skin has gone really dry (which is one of my 1st trimester symptoms). Still have wee cramps - read that this can happen when you have to go to the toilet or aftr sex. First is definitely true!

Groveregg · 16/11/2006 10:45

Oh yes I've just realised I had cramp in my foot last week for the first time since I was pg before. Didn't even spot that symptom!

Hmm saf1, I shall have to have a good think about where to go for this one if all goes well (yes dewmeadow I should be more careful about not thinking too far ahead!). I did like St. Michael's last time but a homebirth sounds quite appealing (sorry to rub your nose in it Miaou!), I might not need to farm out ds to a friend if it all happens at the right time of day. I'm just a bit scared of what happens if things go wrong and what about stitches?

I went food shopping yesterday and nearly bought paté and brie until I remembered. Why didn't I gorge myself on them while I could?!

Miaou · 16/11/2006 14:00

Anyone else suffering from bunged up ears? I feel like I'm hearing through cotton wool atm. Happened when I was pg with ds too.

Chooster · 16/11/2006 14:10

Hello - can you please join your gang??

I've only just had the guts to join this thread after my 4th pregnancy test (I splashed out on digital and it was clear as crystal then!). According to the on-line calendar my EDD is 20th July!!! Eeeeeek....

I'm 34 and DH is 31, we have a wonderful DS who is 2.6yrs (summer babies are fantastic!). Unfortunately we have some genetic worries so I'm hoping for an early scan at 9 weeks to try for an early diagnosis, but I'm yet to have that discussion with the doc.

I haven't had a chance to read the thread but look forward to chatting to all! I've been an addict on the ttc threads for about 4 months!

Chooster · 16/11/2006 14:12

Ooops, sorry to all my November ttc buds - this is rachelrose - I've changed my name - new start and all that!!

Chooster is what my DH calls me but thats an entirely different conversation

Miaou · 16/11/2006 14:15

welcome Chooster! A wee bit further down is a link to our stats thread - add your details to it!

And congratulations

saf1 · 16/11/2006 14:54

Groveregg( sighs a sigh of relief as I think I've spelt it right this time)

I had no probs with homebirth and didn't have to worry about parking, who was going to have DD etc etc...

I had a very good experience and would recommend it

Bodkin · 16/11/2006 14:56

Hey Rachelrose / Chooster! I liked your name before, it is so pretty and Rose is one of my favourite names, but will retrain brain to "Chooster". Sorry to hear of your genetic concerns, and hope the early scan can put your mind at rest.

Kyte - can't help with the puffy feet, but it is so tricky when people ask you outright if you are pg isn't it. I'm rubbish at lying anyway, so I usually just 'fess up, but in your situation, being vague is probably the only way.

Am quite of everyone with really obvious pg symptoms. Don't really feel any different, although maybe a bit teary now and again (just posted on another thread on that very subject!). If anything, I feel less tired! That might have something to do with not having so many late nights bd-ing! Am only 5 weeks so maybe things will kick in later.

I'm well up for a home birth this time round. Do you know why? I just felt so sorry for DP in the hospital last time, like he just didn't know what to do with himself (even though he was actually brilliant) It was just him, me and a 22 year old midwife (who looked about 15, but was also brilliant) and I think he just felt really awkward, so at least he could make himself useful making cups of tea... Plus I love the idea of snuggling up with new bubs in our own bed at the end of it all. Still, that is all a very long way off. Stop getting carried away Bodkin.

fizzbuzz · 16/11/2006 15:25

Hi Fizzbuzz,

I would be eternally grateful, you are exactly the same size as me, and just like me you dont wear skirts!

If you can let me know what you have and how much you want thatd be great, as last time I had a child it was winter so all my maternity stuff is going to be too hot.

Thank you

fizzbuzz · 16/11/2006 16:29

Right will just have to go and investigate, this may take some time, as I am an absolute clothesaholic.
Whilst I am doing this, can someone let me know how to contact other members for posting things to etc as haven't got a clue. Be back later....

swift1 · 16/11/2006 16:35

Just contact another talker above ...
