Yeah that's what we think - must put the number in my phone. Ambulance if lots of blood but midwife if a little bit.

Hidingthefear · 16/02/2015 13:47

i'm so far behind so just checking in.
32 weeks today! finish work 5 weeks on Wednesday but the new starter that's going to do my job doesn't start until the 2nd March.

Lauren your DTD post made me laugh, I know the feeling on positions! We dtd on Saturday, which felt like the first time in ages!! he makes sure i'm "seen to first" before he gets a go, (if you get my drift). started off good but then got a little sore towards the end. if that tears me slightly then a head definitely will! ah well.
(anyone else find that bump wiggles when dtd btw? it's a little off putting but I haven't mentioned it to DH as don't want him to be weirded out by it)

bit late but moomin love Hector.
can't remember who menitoned Cohen but we hada teacher at school called Mr Cohen and I didn't know he was Jewish until he mentioned it so not everyone knows the name association. my music's teachers husband was called "mosher" and he was jewish. She brought it up coz another kid called me a mosher and she wanted to know what one was seen as it was her husbands name lol

finally over the Gastroentritis and back in work today... WHAT A MESS!! nothing's done right and even though it's midday i'm still trying to figure out how to rectify it all! lost 6lbs in about a week but now i'm back eating i'll catch up ;) manager has said i can take last week as holiday instead of sick so that means full pay on Friday YAY. means i only have to roll one week over instead of 2 which suits me fine too.

Hope everyone is generally well other than the usual pregnancy woes.
(don't trust doctor google moomin, hope they can shed some light when you've been to your appointment)

Lauren82000 · 16/02/2015 13:55

Well that was a really weird appointment with the HV. Just went through a load if questions some of them made me laugh inside. I mean if there was domestic violence at home you being the victim or the perpetrator would you really confess to it? Just strikes me as odd, my friend was battered by her then fiancé but she kept a lot of it quiet until she eventually had enough and kicked him out. I don't think she would of said yes to that question if it was still going on.

Anyway HV was hardly reassuring and said on the home visit after baby is born if they think your house is unsafe for you and the baby they won't tell you but go behind your back to social services. If your house is deemed acceptable they will tell you it's fine. Seemed backwards logic to me and something else to stress about. She then went on to say I looked very pale and asked a load of anaemic questions. So basically I look like shit which was a real boost considering I actually put makeup on this morning! Shock Perhaps it's because I don't wear foundation and look like I've been tango'd!

brummagem · 16/02/2015 13:59

Lauren that sounds more like an unhealth visitor than a hv! Lord knows how we coped bringing up children on bomb sites or in slums before they were cleared or even without central or storage heating. Angry

Lauren82000 · 16/02/2015 14:00

Hiding if anything bump is really quiet while were dtd, but I do think this one is pretty chilled out most of the time. A sign of things to come or false promises? Only time will tell I suppose.

smogsville · 16/02/2015 14:03

I once called ambulance in a panic as was convinced DD not breathing normally. Must have just been having a mad moment as she was absolutely fine and fell asleep soon after they arrived but they were so kind in the face of my apologies. Safety first once all reasonable steps to contact mw/ hospital etc have been exhausted.

I've just eaten a malteaster bunny followed by a creme egg. As well as massive ham salad baguette from the posh butcher up the road. Feeling sick, wrong, ashamed of myself and in need of a nap rather than an afternoon of feverish proposal writing Confused

PenguinPoser · 16/02/2015 14:06

Oh gosh Lauren that HV doesn't sound very useful at all!! Sounds counter productive if anything if people are living in fear of being reported to ss they will be less likely to report any problems!

Moomin hope everything is alright when you get checked out, pleased they are seeing you Smile

Siarie · 16/02/2015 14:13

Bump has changed positions today, she's facing my back which means I usually don't feel as apparent movements. Annoying though as it means I have to keep an eye out. She likes to sleep on Mondays like this! How strange babies are.

Just woke Her up with some music and she's kicking my back now Smile

Were on the final stretch now ladies!

smogsville · 16/02/2015 14:22

Hiding, glad you're better. Sadly I'm not surprised that you have gone back to work to find bugger all has been done in your absence. All too common innit.

Lauren, I would have firmly and politely shown her the door. I don't mind the asking about domestic violence (got that at booking in along with FGM) but the rest of it is frankly insulting.

kismac · 16/02/2015 14:26

Oh Moomin, hope everything is ok.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Hiding.

I have cramp in my lower back. It feels like period pain and its making me grumpy! I'm managed to miss out on all the horrible aches and pains but think its finally caught up with me. Hmmm, I think chocolate might help.

ChickenMe · 16/02/2015 14:35

Bloody hell, crazy health visitor Lauren. It's bad enough sometimes feeling infantilised during pregnancy but that just takes the biscuit. I'm sure theres a place for them but they should assess each person as an individual, not think everyone is neglectful or up to no good. I don't think we have them here. I'm 33+2 and not heard anything.
Got major fruit and vegetable cravings...aaaaah

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 16/02/2015 14:40

Health visitors sound odd! I've got my visit on Thursday, and DH is under strict hoovering instructions for before she arrives. She sounded very nice on the phone but I'm worrying now!!

Hidingthefear · 16/02/2015 14:46

oop's reposted, knew the internet was playing up!!! sorry everyone.

but yes you're right smogs, manager even said, "in all honesty i've pretty much done nothing with your files"
I have 3 systems that use and usually 1 is kept up to date so i can salvage the other 2 from that, but this time not a single one has been done and even the paper trail (that's my last resort) isn't up to date.
god help 'em when i'm off for more than 1 week eh!!

lauren doesn't sound very logical does it! i'd love to know what they see as acceptable! surely if they want parents to be honest about living circumstances they should extend the same courtesy the other way too? going behind your back just makes people more defensive surely?
I suppose it's hard to say though unless you work in that field. there are good and bad in all jobs i guess.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/02/2015 14:59

Yes Hidingthefear, my little man tends to be pretty active when we dtd. I assume DH can feel him too but doesn't seem to put him off, I find it quite off putting though!

I always thought that about the mental health/domestic violence questions Lauren82000, if you were trying to hide it you wouldn't just all of a sudden say oh yes I am ........ because they ask you. I'm sure a house would have to be terrible before it was reported though. A friend of mine has just had a grandson and he daughter is in an abusive relationship (has left about 6 times but always goes back). I'm not sure if it was her or someone else has flagged something but baby is being watched very closely and Denis very thankful for that as they live a couple of hours drive away.

TheBooMonster · 16/02/2015 15:03

My original health visitor was a bloody nutter. Obsessed with he baby thinking she'd been left in a jungle O.o The new team I'm with since we moved house seem alright, they don't bother me, I generally have to call them. she's coming next week to see dd so i assume she'll do my antenatal visit then.

Lauren82000 · 16/02/2015 15:03

No I know it would have to be awful before they report it cinnamon but what happens if they just forget to tell you it's ok? You'd be worried sick even if your house is fine. I'm hoping I'd gotten the wrong end of the stick by what she said but it's not a nice thing. You could quite happily think everything is fine then out of the blue social services end up on your doorstep!

FiRaffe · 16/02/2015 15:04

My friend is a health visitor(in a different area from where we live) - must ask her what it's like! We've heard nothing, even though the midwife said they were trying to get to call everyone by 28 or 29 weeks.... oh well, not too worried. The house is in no state for visitors, so the longer the better!

Too concerned to dtd here, but DH bless him hasn't pushed for anything. I have to remind myself how lucky I am!

Also can't remember who asked, but the left! hehe Grin

solstice930 · 16/02/2015 15:47

I had a HV come around before DD was born, and as soon as she heard my parents were divorced (have been since I was little), she asked me all about my childhood, took lots of 'notes', etc, and said children of divorced parents were more likely to have issues with parenting! I couldn't believe it! Angry A lot of HVs talk utter nonsense. She also put a 'secret telephone number' in the back of DD'd red book, so if I, or any of my friends, were being abused we could call that number. It was very strange...

We made a point of dtd at least once in December and once in January, but it's such a faff! It doesn't really feel worth the effort for either of us right now. I'll try again in February so I can say we've done it at least once a month Grin Poor DH is stressed about work, so he's not really in the mood either.

I'm 33 weeks today, with 4 weeks of work left. I can't wait to finish! I'm so lucky to work from home this time. Last time I had a 2 hour commute each way, and it was a nightmare at 30+ weeks.

Also, Hector was on our short list last time! It's a good strong name Smile

MoominMama22 · 16/02/2015 15:47

I wrote a post . can't see it? Gaaah! Internet behave

MoominMama22 · 16/02/2015 15:56

OK really sorry if I'm repeating myself and already posted something similar Confused
Got checked, urine fine, BP 130/70 bit raised but not the 160/90 it had spiked to at 28 weeks. On-call MW super nice and was glad i came in.

Hector has grown on me so much! I think it helps that DH is dead set on it. Its nice that someone is sure. Not sure I even like my original choices anymore and he isn't keen on them either.

Minstrelle, try not to worry too much about the measurements. You are so right it is so subjective and tape measure across the tummy can be a useful tool but really isn't that accurate. Are you going to get a growth scan? I presume you are and that will put your mind at ease. I've just had conversation with my MW-MiL about this exact thing as I was measured big then small it depends who does it, your position, babies position... Totally not an exact science. I would of course worry and telling you not to is, I know, futile. MW only has to make passing comment to me about something and my head spins for days...

chicken yes I would call ambulance if home alone and something big happened. Varying degrees of emergency, I'd prob try to ring DH to no avail and then ring the neighbours if I needed driven somewhere pronto as ambulance would prob take an hour.

if something like that happens, and it won't, you won't think twice about 999 in the moment!

That HV sounds horrendous lauren! We don't get HV visits until baby Is home, I'm pretty sure.

Got my first A-N class tomorrow ( only getting four 2hr sessions how stingey) so will prob find out about HV. Reeeeeally hope I meet some nice people, know hardly ANYBODY here since we moved and banking on meeting some friends for life. High hopes indeed...

smogsville · 16/02/2015 16:01

I like Hector but with our surname (DH is a kiwi but of Scottish extraction) it's a bit much.

FiRaffe, it was me who asked. LOLZ!

Minstrelle · 16/02/2015 16:05

boo, really?!? I'm so glad you mentioned that, that would be a bit of an issue and not in my "4 week plan of lolling about like a (slightly undersized) whale" that I am envisaging for weeks 36-40 (not allowing myself to think about any more than 40 weeks). Will definitely ask, thanks.
