It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

Welcome to our thread Hopejoy - I have already written a message on your other thread. I really hope this time your have no problems.

I wore an underwired bra through most of my 1st pregnancy, and was told off by a midwife saying it would effect my milk etc. But I was fine.

During my 2nd I was too uncomfortable, and couldn't actually wear any bra at the end - Nice!!

This time I am going to wear them for as long as I can find them comfy. I have already gone up a size though. Tescos do great ones for £3 for 2!

Thanks for the welcome smellymelly and congratulations on your twin pregnancy! I'll check out Tesco's bras - there's nothing I like better than a good bargain

artyjoe · 12/06/2004 20:16

Hi Guys

Have spent most of the weekend in tears as I am finding this morning (all bloody day) sickness very trying. Anybody else blubbing or am I just being a wimp? After waiting 9 years I was hoping this would be easy to cope with but I'm finding it very difficult trying to keep my business afloat when I want to cry everytime I pick the phone up!

Tex111 · 13/06/2004 04:48

Don't worry artyjoe, I felt the same way with DS. The morning sickness and level of debilitation can be a shock. I remember wondering how I would ever cope with a baby if I couldn't cope with the pregnancy! It all worked out though and you'll probably start feeling better in a few weeks. I'll be ten weeks on Thursday and I've noticed a real improvement the last couple of days. Hang in there! It does get better.

Ghosty · 13/06/2004 05:17

Wow ... can't believe so many of you are on the Jan 05 already ....
I was on the 'Anyone Due January 2004' Thread and my DD is now 4 months old ... (she was late, the little tinker, D.O.B 3rd Feb!)
Doesn't time fly ? ...
Congratulations everyone ......

smellymelly · 13/06/2004 11:20

Thanks Ghosty.

Artyjoe - It is very hard to deal with the sickness, and your hormones will be all over the place. It doesn't matter how long you have been trying, you will still feel the same. I'm now 10 weeks and I am actually feeling better already.

I am wearing 'sea-bands' 24 hours a day, so it might be them. I still throw up a little, but I don't have that awful feeling of severe nausea. Just as well as I'm trying to prepare everything for my wedding in 5.5 weeks!!!

Thankfully I found a lovely seamstress who can put panels in the side of my wedding dress, only a week before, so I can stilll wear my dream dress!!

Got my 12 week scan booked for Friday week... Can't wait to see them again!

Schmozer · 13/06/2004 13:15

Sympathy waves to Artyjoe from a fellow blubber - I have no nausea (yet - am 7 weeks) but am more tired than I could possible imagine with sore breasts, spots and aching limbs and frequently cry for no reason. Feel like a depressed zombie most of the time and then feel guilty for not feeling serene and maternal.

On the bra front have decided to go for a sports bra as a good compromise. Top tip - Figleaves currently has £5 off Shock Absorbers and they are seamfree and come in beige!!! This has made my day!

pollyanna · 14/06/2004 00:17

Artyjoe, perhaps there is something in that 9 weeks thing - I am 10+? weeks and have improved over the last couple of days - no longer need to chew something all the time and don't feel narcoleptic. Still feel a bit sick, but have improved (hope I don't relapse now!). Still blubbing over everything though!

I look huge though - at least 5 months pregnant - someone guessed yesterday and I am still keeping it quiet. and no sign of a hospital appointment yet...

Tex111 · 14/06/2004 11:17

Pollyanna, I'm glad someone else is showing too! I'm going out to Bluewater today to buy some trousers. I've already outgrown my normal stuff. This is such a hard time clothes-wise. not big enough for the big maternity clothes but too big for my regular clothes. Oh well, great excuse to buy something new!

Bakedbean · 14/06/2004 15:19

Hi there! I'm 10 weeks this Friday and have definitely started showing - thought I was carrying a baby hippo. Although I haven't suffered too much with sickness, apart from a bit of nausea in the morning, even that has gone this week and I feel much much better. Still ready for bed come 9pm, but a little bit more energy in the day. Had scan yesterday and doc said baby was a right little wriggler! Saw arms waving about and heart beat as strong as anything. Will have nuchal scan at 11 weeks which is the one I'm a bit nervous about!

Thanks for the advice on the bras - I am still wearing my underwired one, but know I should get a couple of non wired ones, although with the size of my boobs at the mo, not sure if they'll be too flattering!

Tex111 · 15/06/2004 12:07

I know this is going to be one of those silly pregnancy worries but I'm a little concerned that I'm feeling so much better! With DS I was incredibly sick until 15 weeks, could hardly keep anything down and lost half a stone. This time around I've only been sick a few times, feel much better than I did last time and have already gained 3lbs! I know every pregnancy is different but I can't help feeling concerned.

I think part of the problem is that I haven't had an antenatal check up yet. No scan, haven't even heard the heart beat. I think I'll make an appt with my GP and see if they will at least let me hear the heartbeat. What do you guys think?

Bakedbean · 15/06/2004 12:56

God I can completely understand how you feel. I only had a scan on Tues and already worrying that I feel so much better! I would definitely make an appointment with your doctor and see if they can hear the heartbeat. Although it's hard, at least it won't be toooo long until your scan now. Maybe this time you're having a girl!!!

artyjoe · 15/06/2004 18:16

Tex111; Unless I'm wrong you won't be able to hear the heartbeat for quite a while yet...again, I might be wrong though. I have already gained 4 pounds, although I still feel nauseous and exhausted, and I take this to be a good sign. I really wouldn't worry, gaining weight and popping out of your trousers is surely a good sign that the pregnancy is progressing well

Baked bean; I'm sure the reason you are feeling better is due to relaxing after the scan! I know I was sick as a dog in the lead up to my scan at 7 weeks and three days after having it I felt so much better, I'm sure it's where you put your mind at ease by seeing it Having said that, I'm already feeling rubbish again, but I think this is because I'm now counting the days until 13 weeks!

Tex111 · 16/06/2004 01:00

Artyjoe, I remember with my first pregnancy a friend of mine who had recently had her first baby told me that I would always feel sick before a scan and elated afterwards and she was so right! With DS we were in Japan and on private health so I had scans at 4, 6, 10, and 12 weeks. It was amazing to see the little blob turn into a baby and sooooo reassuring to know that everything was progressing normally. Probably why I'm worrying now.

Bakedbean, we've wondered about it being a girl! In fact, we've barely discussed boy names DH is so convinced that it's a girl. Did you get to see your baby very clearly at your scan? The first time you see that little body is just the most amazing thing in the world. I remember DS was really wriggly too and I was amazed that something could be moving around so much inside of me without me feeling it.

Bakedbean · 16/06/2004 12:14

Yes, it was amazing! Saw the arms and legs and you're right - very strange for 'him' to be moving around so much without me knowing! 10 weeks today and it feels like another milestone! DH and I have discussed names and can only find about 2 of each sex to agree on!!

smellymelly · 16/06/2004 14:47

Have had my booking in appt with midwife. And she told me to expect the babies to come in Nov or Dec!! Funny really coz dp has been telling everyone that my I'm due in November!! Does he know something I don't??

I'm really worried about them coming too early, as I went into prem labour with dd at 28 & 30 weeks, which they managed to stop. Also made the mistake of watching 'Born too soon' on ch4 the other night - it was heart-wrenching!

I also have one of them devices to hear the heartbeats (a PD1+ ... bought off ebay for my last pregnancy) and I have managed to find both heartbeats (I think)!! Quite difficult as sometimes they are really close together, but it is so worth it. It also has a lcd screen so we can see how fast the heartrates are. They are bloody expensive but I would recommend them to everyone, as you can get most of your money back selling them 2nd hand on ebay!

Dickers · 16/06/2004 16:10

Hello everyone
Can I join your thread. I'm 8.2 weeks and due 19th Jan - I think. I haven't had my doctors appointment yet, I'm due to go on monday.
This pregnancy is a bit of a surprise, as we had thought we would start trying for no 2 this year (I'll be 40 next year and wanted to have no 2 before I hit the big 40 - so fingers crossed!)an I got pregnant on just one careless session.
I actually found out, on a business trip to the far east - really odd, going to buy a kit where the insructions are mostly in Chinese and finding out in a hotel room - not something I would reccommend.
I'm feeling OK at the moment, not sick exactly but everything makes me gag. I am very disturbed at how much my stomach has expanded - I'm already too fat for most of my normal clothes!!!!!

Schmozer · 16/06/2004 17:26

Congratulations and welcome Dickers! You are three days ahead of me. My nausea has only just kicked in and is still quite mild, but certain things (e.g. raw mince) are making me gag too. Also felt very sick in the car this morning. How old is your no 1 child?

Dickers · 16/06/2004 19:33

Schmozer,
My DS will be 2 in september, so 2.4 when baby is due. He is very clingy at the moment (he hasn't forgiven me for going away to the far east for a week) I hope he's a bit better by the time the baby arrives!

Tex111 · 17/06/2004 23:39

Welcome Dickers and congratulations!

Smellymelly, was Born Too Soon the one with the triplets in Cambridge? I didn't see it but they are friends of a friend of mine. She said she could only watch it because she knows how well the triplets are doing now. All very healthy.

Bakebean, two names for each sex isn't too bad. We have a favourite about every other week and then it's some other name that we like. So far we've been through Theodore, Maude, Betsy and Susie. With DS we narrowed it down to two names and then chose his name after he was born. We both instantly felt that he was a Toby and it really suits him.

pollyanna · 18/06/2004 10:58

Hello Dickers - congratulations! I am, I think, due on 1st Jan (with my 4th child!!).

I think I will have to get one of those heart monitor things Smellymellly - I am getting very anxious that I am not even pregnant. I haven't even heard from the hospital yet (I think I'm 12 weeks at the end of this week). I just want to know whether everything is allright. I also really want it confirmed that I'm NOT expecting twins - I am huge - there is no reason to think that I am , but I am starting to worry ( I don't think I could cope with 5 children under 6!).

I had stopped feeling so sick, so of course worried that I had a miscarriage, but then it came back with a vengeance. Dh has gone off to tell his mother today - she will be very shocked! (we aren't seeing her for a few weeks and he didn't want her to find out when I am 16 weeks - although I didn't mind!).

sorry to ramble so much!!

pollyanna · 18/06/2004 11:02

Tex we were the same - dd2's name wasn't on the list before she was born. (I couldn't get dh to agree to any of the names on my list anyway).

Jimjams · 18/06/2004 21:21

Had my booking in visit yesterday, The m/w has put me as 1st Jan rather than 31st Dec, but has said it will almost certainly be a section. These are usually done at 39 weeks down here which would be xmas day!

Anyway heard the heartbeat (just!) so begining to believe it now

Lorralaffs · 18/06/2004 22:50

Jan 18th for me for baby no.3, but ... family/friends are convinced it is nos 3and 4 because I am sick all day every day!!! (No sickness with son or daughter) The scary thing is I'm starting to believe them!!! (smile)

smellymelly · 19/06/2004 13:37

Welcome Dickers and Lorralaffs This thread is getting busy now!

Tex111 - yes the programme was the one with the triplets, and it is good to hear they are all doing well now - but it was so sad when they just added at the end that one ds was partially deaf and the other profoundly deaf

I'm 11 weeks now, and looking forward to my scan on Friday!!
