smellymelly · 28/04/2004 12:43

It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

Hi Abbiapple - can you do a test??

OP posts:
AbbiApple · 24/05/2004 12:50

With DS1 & 2 early urine tests always show me as negative, so in a way it wont reasure me either way

smellymelly · 24/05/2004 12:52

Ooooh how annoying! How long do you have to wait then?

OP posts:
AbbiApple · 24/05/2004 12:56

I am going to wait a week (that sounds so calm and sensible!!! With Ds's i was doing a test a day but it cost me a fortune!!) The longer i go without a period i will feel more sure because my period always comes on the 14th!

AbbiApple · 24/05/2004 12:57

How far gone are you Smellymelly?

AbbiApple · 24/05/2004 13:00

If i am i will be due Jan 18th

smellymelly · 24/05/2004 13:09

I'm 7 weeks. Due Jan 2nd 05 !!!

OP posts:
BigBird · 24/05/2004 15:00

Smellymelly - do you say you are 7 weeks now or do you say 8 weeks cos you are in week 8 ? What do you all say ?
I'm 7+1 and I was telling myself "I'm in week 8 now!!"....jumping the gun a bit !!

AbiApple - good luck with your test.

Tessiebear · 24/05/2004 19:49

(Changed name FROM: AbbiApple) Went and bought pregnancy test - period came as i was walking out of the chemist!!!!!!!!!!! Despite the fact it would have been unplanned i feel quite dissappointed!

smellymelly · 25/05/2004 00:17

Tessiebear

Bigbird, I am 7 weeks and 4 days, so I say 7 weeks.

My lmp was a sunday, so I change in my head at the beginning of the week. In fact I thought I was 7.3 till I checked the calender.

Took ds to an adventure park today, and everyone was pregnant, I still look huge, about 4 months!! I had to make a real effort to get out the house, while feeling so sick (it came back last might) but it was worth it we had a great time. (dd was a t nursery)

Hi everyone, I've just joined 3 days after finding out I'm pregnant, baby due on 19th January! I have been trying for 9 years and had spent 3 hours in the hospital on Monday organising my next bout of fertility treatments, was given Metformin but told I couldn't take them until I started AF so what's the easiest way of ensuring that happens...taking a PT! I have got so used to taking them and seeing nothing that I purely took it thinking it would ensure AF after 10 minutes so I could start taking the pills! I have never cried so much in my life! The joy is fantastic, the terror is just about controlable - just.

I have had names picked out since I was 13, Maxwell-Benjamin or Faith for a girl

No sickness at all, but am going to bed by 8.45..if that's all I get then I'm happy

Am going to change doctors as I can't see my own doctor until 12 June, I'll be due a scan then! History on my mothers side is extremely poor and as this is my first pregnancy in 9 years I am expecting a bit more support than waiting 5 weeks to see a doctor!

If anyone knows where I can get maternity wear size 20 and above that would be fab!

smellymelly · 25/05/2004 13:47

Artyjoe - How fantastic!!

What a great result after such a long time. You must be over the moon, Welcome to the Jan 05 thread!!

Congrats to ArtyJoe - your nine years trying makes me feel very lucky indeed.

Quick question for those who've been here before. Since Friday evening I've had some very mild abdominal pains - a sort of dullish, slightly heavy-feeling ache with an occasional twinge. At first I thought it was AF on its way, but Clear Blue put me straight on that one! I'm not worried about it and it's not really painful, just curious about how long it might last.

smellymelly · 29/05/2004 17:13

Where is everyone???

Schmozer - sorry can't really help with particular pains, hopefully you are ok now, but there are so many aches and pains that we all seem to suffer from, most of which are normal. We just worry more I think, as we are pregnant.

I have been riding out my sickness on our boat this weekend, but feel it's coming back already. And I feel so tired!!

I have a scan tomorrow, just to check all is well. Am now only 8 weeks!!!

pollyanna · 29/05/2004 17:43

Hi Smelly! I'm here! Feeling pretty awful too - still really tired. How long does the tiredness last do you know? It seems to be worse this time, but that could be because I am now a sahm to 3 children.

I've got my first doctors appointment tomorrow - don't know how long I'll have to wait for a scan though (I might try to persuade her that I want an early scan, but I expect the hospital is pretty busy already). Let us know how your scan goes...

karen01 · 29/05/2004 17:54

artyjoe- next do maternity definatley up to size twenty as do mothercare. They are the only places I have found to get any.

Congratulations to all of you btw.

smellymelly · 29/05/2004 19:43

HI Pollyanna - I'm not suprised you are tired if you are looking after 3 others!! I think it is supposed to get better in the 2nd trimester, then gets worse again in the 3rd trimester, but that is more to do with carrying the extra weight etc. I think.

I can cope with the tiredness, it's the sickness I find really hard. It took me until 3.30pm to get out the house today!

beansprout · 29/05/2004 20:08

Just popped over from the October thread to say congratulations to you all

Schmozer - I had those pains too and they felt a lot like period pain so they would freak me out. Apparently it is just the uterus starting to stretch and do what it needs to do. The only other time we feel anything like that is when AF is on her way, so it can feel a bit odd. All entirely normal though (although I wish the books had mentioned it a bit more).

Sorry to intrude, hope that's ok

pollyanna · 29/05/2004 21:00

Thanks Beansprout!

Smelly, I'm lucky in that I'm not throwing up (don't know how you're coping with that), but I do feel sick most of the time - I will probably be ok with that once I'm not feeling narcoleptic!

I actually feel really cold (I was very wrapped up against the 21 degree heat today!) as well as tired - is that a sign of anaemia do you know?

Schmozer · 30/05/2004 13:26

Thank you for the reassurance, Beansprout - I figured it must just be my insides regrouping for the task ahead, but none of my books mention it either!

Pollyanna, I am always cold, but it does seem to be worse now I'm pregnant. I had to have a hot water bottle the other evening, even though I was wearing a huge jumper - DH in shorts!

I've no idea if it means anything, but will mention it to the GP tomorrow.

artyjoe · 30/05/2004 14:58

I know what you mean about being cold, for the last two evenings my nails have been blue!

Spent the weekend in A&E unfortunately but am having a scan next Tuesday when I will be 7 weeks + 1, should I be able to hear the heartbeat at the scan as the books say no but other mothers say yes...any ideas or advice?

Thanks - Joe

smellymelly · 30/05/2004 16:17

Hello all - Had my scan this morning, everything is well, both babies measuring exactly 8 weeks. And saw 2 good heartbeats! We even got a picture with them both together.

Can't hear the heartbeats at this stage, only see them - Artyjoe, I think it is about 14 weeks before they listen wih a doppler.

Sometimes I'm cold too, I was wrapped in a blanket the other eve. I think it must be coz your body has to deal with growing a baby, so you get forgotten a little... (Just my theory, by the way) I actually go hot and cold, probably coz I feel like shit!!

Later on you will all be complaining how hot you are!!! I'm already enjoying the fact it is easier for me to get a tan.

smellymelly, great news about your scan and the twins.

Bakedbean · 30/05/2004 18:28

Hi there! Can I join? I'm due 4th January. After 6 years of trying naturally I had IVF and was successful first time! :0 I had an early scan at 6 weeks 4 days and saw the heartbeat (had to be done vaginally to see it) but still worry that something's gone wrong since! Am having second one on the 8th June and can't wait just to make sure all is ok.

No major symptoms - haven't even had the weeing a lot! Anyone else not had it? I've been exhausted and had slight nausea, but nothing major - can't believe I'm wishing for them!

Silly question - is it ok to have my hair higlighted in the early stages? It desperately needs it!

artyjoe · 30/05/2004 19:22

Hi Baked Bean, good news on the baby front, well done you! You must be delighted! I've been trying for 9 years and am finally pregnant, 6 weeks 1 day and I have no nausea or peeing at all, apart from falling asleep at 8.30 every night you wouldn't know I was pregnant :-)

Congratulations on the twins smellymelly, I was secretly hoping for twins but as I have no strong symptoms I'm assuming this isn't the case. Hey ho, at least we know I can fall pregnant so I'll be trying for that five aside team in no time

I am counting the days until I see one or two heartbeats, it's gonna be a long weekend!
