It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

hey bakedbean. I'm 16 wks now and have put on about 9lbs so far. Def have a small round bump now !

Bakedbean · 22/07/2004 10:50

Thanks Bigbird - glad I'm not the only one!

BatLady · 27/07/2004 14:00

All ok now thanks BB, have had quite an adventure though. GP sent me straight to hospital as was very very out of breath and they kept me there for a week testing for blood clots. Started getting better after a day in there and all tests thankfully completely clear, seems like I just need to take it very very easy at the moment and not get tired.

And yes I'm showing too! At only 13ish weeks I have a bit of a football-shape belly already which is quite fun. Am off for nuchal scan tomorrow, can't wait. Sickness still with me though....bless it....

Bakedbean · 28/07/2004 09:23

Oh pleased to hear everything is ok. What a nightmare week for you! Good luck with the scan tomorrow.

Hi Ladies - I'm back!!!

Had fabulous wedding (17th July) and great Honeymoon. I managed to get into my dress, and it got the reception I was hoping for as it was a little different (ivory with black beading).

Went to the Red Sea, Egypt. (We had cancelled coz of the pregnancy, but re-booked a week before and definitely benenfited from the rest). The Egyptians working in the hotel were superb and looked after us so well. They were always asking how the babies were! And the airline were great too, they gave us the only spare seat between us to give me more room to move (to help protect against DVT, also I had to take aspirin)

It was 47 degrees the day we left - Wouch!

Then spent a few days in a goregeous country hotel in Somerset... I ate so much for 2 weeks that my tummy was huge after every meal!

Missed the kids by the end, but how lucky were we to have a 2 week break!

Now I'm 18 weeks, and my belly is huge, my tummy button is sticking right out, I'm getting out of breath, and my SPD is really bad already.

But I'm happy to be a married woman at last (I'm 31), I finally found the one!!

Angeliz · 05/08/2004 13:03

smelly, glad you had a lovely time and how loved up do you sound???+++ Lucky you CONGRATULATIONS.

Thanks for replying on the other thread. I haven't felt anything more but i can't wait.
I have a scan in a few weeks and it will seem more real then too but i can't wait to feel it.

artyjoe · 11/08/2004 11:28

Hi everyone, I've been gone for weeks as the pregnancy was getting too much, very ill and found it very difficult to cope. Thankfully I have turned a corner and am feeling (almost) human again. I had a 4d scan last monday which was fantastic, got the all clear on everything I had been worried about, the baby is competely perfect and healthy, albeit small, but if I have a small baby it works with my idea of having a sneeze and out it popping! I'm banking on a 1hr labour so fingers crossed

Wid, I was 6 stones overweight before getting pregnant so i know how you feel, i just look like one of my tyres got a bit bigger!

I haven't gained any weight yet and I'm 17+3, anybody carrying only one baby started gaining yet, I'm not sure whether I should feel pleased or whether nobody gains weight at this stage!

I have prebooked a personal trainer for six weeks after the due date to get me back in shape, I can't believe I managed to fall pregnant at my biggest - eek. I am determined to get rid of all this excess flab before baby turns 1 In the meantime I just spend a lot of time stroking belly in public so people can guess I'm pregnant and not fat, although obviously I'm both!!!

Can't wait to feel the kicks x

Bakedbean · 11/08/2004 11:50

Hi artyjoe. Sorry to hear you've been feeling so poorly. Hopefully you'll start to enjoy this middle stage now. I was about a stone and a half over weight before getting pregnant and I've put on about 9lbs now, but I can see exactly where it's gone as it's all bump! I think I look about a month or more further gone than I am! My next scan isn't until I'm 22 weeks so there has been a bit of time since my last midwife appointment when I heard the heartbeat and when I next know for sure all is ok. I can't wait to feel the kicks - I got a bit worried about it all last week and posted on another thread, but was reassured by all the answers that quite a few people didn't feel anything until 20 weeks (I'm 18 + 4).

How is everyone else feeling?

Schmozer · 11/08/2004 12:16

Hello all. I haven't contributed for weeks, for which I must apologise.

Like artyjoe I have found the last 7 weeks an awful struggle - nausea, tiredness and depression - and feeling worse every time I saw something that said 'You should be feeling better by 11/12/13 weeks'. My GP said 16 weeks was more realistic and she's been proved to be correct. 16+4 today and feel like I might be blooming at last. Nausea pretty much gone, more energy and less emotional - feeling really positive and looking forward to everything now.

Have a small bump, but not enough to look pregnant rather than bloated, and can't wait for it to grow! Not sure now much weight I've put on yet. I was 9 stone pre-pg and the same at 12 weeks - will check tonight.

Had a scan at 12 weeks and couldn't stop giggling at the baby, who was throwing itself around. Made it all much more real for me and DH. Heard the heartbeat at 13 weeks when we met our midwife who is lovely. Nothing now until the 20 week scan.

I can't wait for the kicks either!

smellymelly · 11/08/2004 17:51

Hi - I had my 20 week scan today, and all is well!

Also found out the sex.... we are having a boy and a girl, couldn't be happier!! Still in shock - How did we get this lucky??

We knew from the 12 week scan we were having a boy, so were just waiting for the 2nd one.

I look about 35 weeks gone though and starting to walk like a duck!

Glad you're feeling better schmozer, and artyjoe. I haven't felt sick for a while now, but I'm so tired.

artyjoe · 12/08/2004 09:41

Well done smellymelly, how lucky! I was so disappointed when they couldn't tell me the sex, but then that's my child all over, mischeivous!

Due to my weight they won't give me a 20 week scan, which is why I paid to go privately for a 16 week one instead, but they will give me a scan at 23 weeks so I'm really hoping to know the sex at that visit.

I still find the whole thing completely overwhelming and always cry like a baby after having the scan done, I literally blub, I'll probably need counselling after I give birth

I'm hoping to feel the baby soon, I found a few new stretch marks appear this morning so I'm looking for some payback!

Take care - Joe

BatLady · 12/08/2004 13:38

Hello all, am also counting down the days to feeling better, am 15+5 now so very much hoping between now and week 18 (according to my friend) to stop feeling so rotten. Think I shall go into hibernation if I still feel rubbish at 18+1....

We've decided to try and find out the sex at our 20 week scan, am so excited at the thought.

artyjoe · 12/08/2004 15:01

Batlady, I felt so dreadful for the entire first part of the pregnancy that, even though I had had a scan at 16 weeks, at 17+1 I woke up and had no symptoms for three days so panicked and had to check the babies heart beat at the doctors, and it was simply that I had felt better so dramatically overnight!

At 17+4 I feel SOOOO much better, food is not my enemy and I can actualy walk about Sainsbury's without crying with the effort of putting one foot in front of the other. I am still tired on occasion and when it comes on it floors me for a few hours, but then I feel (almost) normal again.

I would love to say the emotional side has gone but I can still cry extremely easily at Eastenders and the news, which thankfully me and my partner still find an amusing symptom

Hope everyone is feeling okay today, I'm going out to a posh Siamese restaurant tonight to celebrate feeling (almost) normal

Joe

Just popped over to say hi to all the ladies on this thread especially Smellymelly. I have just read all your messages as i can't get enough information. Just wondered if I should just tell all at work since my tummy is showing already at 8 wks. Stll keeping my fingers crossed that all will be well by my next scan next month. With two I thought they will bombard me with information but nothing at all. Seeing my midwife at the end of the month. Jan is a good month for me Smelly as my dd was born on the 3rd. Better get back to work!

Schmozer · 12/08/2004 15:05

Enjoy your meal tonight, artyjoe. It's good to feel almost normal isn't it?!!!

Staceyk · 12/08/2004 16:05

Hi artyjoe I'm kind of gatecrashing here as I'm not due til Feb, but was interested by you saying that they won't give you 20 week scan due to your weight? Whats that all about? Do you mind saying what your weight is??

artyjoe · 12/08/2004 17:01

Schmozer, feeling almost normal seems like a real favour from the Gods! I don't think I'll take my health for granted quite so easily after this!

StacyK, at the begining of the pregnancy I was 17 stones 5, I'm now 16 stones 12 due to the sickness. They say they won't give me the 20 weeks scan until 23 weeks as they have to 'penetrate' so much fat. However, the 4d & 2d scan I had in London managed to penetrate easily enough and we had a really clear image, okay, it was painful in parts but I've got PCOS (hence the weight) so actually put it down to that more than anything else. That's the only reason I had the 4d scan done, cost £275, but it gave me the peace of mind I needed as there was no way I could wait until 23 weeks to get the all clear, especially as it has taken 9 years to fall pregnant.

It would appear that you are not meant to have sex if you are over a size 14, at least that's what the shops and doctors lead you to believe...I am yet to find a size 20 maternity outfit in Mothercare or Dotty P, and Bloomin Marvelous and Mamas & Papas don't go past an 18, most don't go past 16, and although they say they sell them online or by mailorder, all of my size, no joke, are out of stock.

Hey ho, here's hoping to losing the weight and not gaining much in pregnancy...denial is a lovely planet

Staceyk · 13/08/2004 07:22

Artyjoe
I too have PCOS and was 16 stone, then was on Metformin which helped me drop to 14st 6lb and after 2 years of trying I have falen pg. I had a scan at 8 weeks (internal) which showed a really clear pic, I had another at 10 wks, external and I commented that the pic not so clear and they said it had to go through a lot "more" to get pic externally rather than internally. I am booked in for my 12 week scan next Wednesday 18th August. I am still very fat especially around the belly (size 20-22) Maybe it depends on the area you live! Think it's a bit unfair though! I was also wondering about maternity clothes, not that I need them yet, and also if I will ever "show" get a bump? or would it be hidden behind all the fat?

Staceyk · 13/08/2004 07:26

Forgot to say I have put on 5lb since being pg (and I'm only 12 weeks!) don't know if it's down to coming off Metformin, giving up smoking or what! Hoping it's not a start of things to come!

artyjoe · 13/08/2004 11:52

Hi StaceyK, the day I was prescribed Metformin was the day I found out I was pregnant! I am already in maternity trousers and I've been in them for about 3 weeks. I haven't gained any weight yet and although the bump looks like a bigger 'tyre' it is definitely bigger and harder and immovable! I have only managed to get Mothercare jeans in a size 20, but they have a lot of give in the legs and bum and the waistband does sit under my boobs if I don't turn it over so loads of room on the tummy! I also bought a pair of jersey trousers in a size 2 from 1647, which are great. If you have no luck then a baby belt may do the trick, although I found mine a bit strange and it actually dug into my tummy a little. Tracksuit bottoms 2 sizes too big from Evans & Ann Harvey do the trick but aren't particularly attractive on the bum! If you live in or near London then Hampstead Bazaar do fab floaty dresses and tops which will get you through the entire pregnancy. I was a size 20 when I found out I was pregnant and although I've gained not one pound I'm now in a size 26 knickers which are already rolling under the bump! One tip, pre order a bra two sizes too big 'on the back not cup' now as it takes weeks for them to arrive if you are 'outsize'. I've also ordered maternity clothes online from La Redoute, but not sure of the quality as they haven't arrived yet, some of these were a 22.

I'm wondering if there is a gap in this market that can be filled! Any good at sewing??

artyjoe · 13/08/2004 11:55

Forgot to add, well done for giving up smoking! Try to relax about the weight gain (yeah right!)...my doctor tells me that my PCOS may actually disappear through the process of giving birth...I'm not stuffing my face just in case it doesn't disappear, but it has given me hope that I can lose the weight afterwards...fingers crossed for both of us.

smellymelly · 13/08/2004 12:26
