It's me... I can't believe I get to start this!

I'm due 2nd Jan 2005... Actually AF is not due for 4 days(!!) but have done 3 tests and all positive. I am only 11 days pregnant.

It's a bit lonely here on my own, I hope there will be lots of you joining me soon, especially from 'ttc thread 6'.

Pollyanna - If you think you can feel the baby then you probably can.

Alot of people will say it's too early, because they judge it from when they felt it normally about 20 weeks because they discout the bubbles and only wait for the kicks!

I felt ds at 14 weeks, and dd at 11.5 weeks, so I guess this is right for me to feel 2 at 10.5 weeks.

At my first scan I was told the twins were fraternal (non-identical) as they are in different sacs etc.

But I had my 12 week scan with the consultant who specialises in twins and he said if they are the same sex, then they have a 1:5 chance of being identical! I thinks sometimes the only way they can tell is to do a dna test.

As we know one is a boy, we are really hoping for a girl as well, to have one of each. Will keep my fingers crossed xxx

What sexes are your other children smellymelly? Will you find out the sex of the other twin or wait and see?

Are you still going ahead with your wedding? That was going to be soon wasn't it?

smellymelly · 27/06/2004 19:29

Hi Pollyanna - I have a ds age 4.5, and a dd age 21mths! Similar to yours in age I see from the start of the thread, ( I just don't have the 6 six year old) Do you have a ds, mine is going through a really obnoxious time at the mo, I can't wait to get him started at school (sept).

We will find out the sexes of both the twins, would like 1st one confirmed (although there was no mistaking it!).

And yes I'm getting married in 3.5 weeks - aaaggghhh! Feel very unprepared, and very large. I'm getting my dress altered a week before. Saw a midwife this am who does my acupuncture, and she said I look about 20 weeks already (I'm only 12).
And I will look full term at 30 weeks!

Oh and I have just accepted an offer on my house!

And my SPD is coming back already...

WHAT A DAY ?!?!?!

pollyanna · 27/06/2004 20:47

Yes, my ds is 5.5 - he started school last sept and really loves it. He isn't particularly obnoxious, but my dd1 (3 and a half) is - she is very challenging. I can't wait for her to start school! My other dd is 16 months now - she is relatively easy at the moment (but I expect that come Christmas, everything will change).

I was 6 weeks pregnant with my son when I got married, I still fitted into my (straight) dress, but I remember it was a bit tight over my chest! Are you all prepared for for your wedding (apart from last minute alterations to the dress)?

smellymelly · 28/06/2004 09:51

I'm sort of ready, just a few minor decisions before the big day.

But now I have just accepted an offer on my house to a couple that want to move in yesterday - Aaaaggghhh!!
We own the house next door so will have to move in there when our tenants move out, and it is tiny. That one is on the market too - Need to find a new house now.

Hi Everyone

Anyone else still feeling really ill? The routine has changed so the mornings aren't all that bad but my afternoons and evenings seem to be getting much worse. The diorhoea is killing me today! I'm going to see the doctor later as I'm a bit worried in case my blood pressure has dropped too low as it was extremely low in my sixth week and I've not seen anyone since then.

One strange thing though, on Sunday I was feeling better in the car due to the windows being open so wanted to extend my journey so turned right intead of left at my house, saw Carland, went for a browse and came out with a new car! My partner nearly had a heart attack! I'm only expecting one but this car will fit 3 comfortably with a dog and mother in law and partner! How on earth i'm giong to park it God only knows

I tried the belly belt yesterday (am on medium size already) but my stomach felt sore to touch after a few hours...anybody else tried these belts and had difficulty?

pollyanna · 28/06/2004 19:21

Hi everyone. Artyjoe, I don't feel so sick anymore, but still really really tired. I had hoped it would go by now (12.4 weeks). How many weeks are you? I would say the sickness had abated by 11 weeks.

Had my scan today! Everything alright (as far as they can tell) - and only one baby!!
Isn't it your scan today Bakedbean too? Hope that went alright.
Smellymelly, we accepted an offer on our house today too- we are renting it out as dh wants us to move out of London and I don't know whether I want to move out of London. (why do we do these things when we are pregnant??). Now just have to decide where to live...

smellymelly · 28/06/2004 19:41

OOh Pollyanna - Come to Devon, the people are so much friendlier here! Instructed solicitors today and gone into mild panic... but a good time to move I think while we are pregnant, then we can nest in a new house. I'm actually quite excited.

Also good news on your scan, lucky it's only the one, wouldn't want 5!!

Hi artyjoe - yeah I feel tired and yucky still, but ok. What car did you buy? We have to get a new car too, has to be a 7-seater... Possibly looking at a mitsubishi and a chrysler voyager, me thinks that will be another thread!

OP posts:
pollyanna · 28/06/2004 20:12

We are thinking of Somerset Smelly - dh will still be working in London, until he can find a new job (in Bristol hopefully). He wants to move to the Cotswolds though.

We have to buy a 7 seated too - dh is thinking about the Zafira (I don't really have a view, but dh would love to read a thread on it!).

smellymelly · 28/06/2004 20:52

I like Somerset too. I only moved down here when I was pregnant with no.1. And it was the best thing I ever did. Lived in Middx before that.

BatLady · 28/06/2004 21:13

Brilliant - lots of people I can talk to about being pregnant at last (keeping it a secret until 12 weeks from most people and am bursting to tell!). I'm due on January 29th 2005 YAHHOOO, so 8 1/2 weeks gone I think. Feel totally sick all day, oddly enough my nose has gone into overdrive and the "stuff" is going straight down my throat and to my stomach making me feel sick, so, I chew chewing gum every second that I'm awake and not eating and it's helping a lot (sorry to be disgusting but maybe it will help someone else!). Other than that I'm eating like a horse. Maybe there's more than one in there!

BatLady · 28/06/2004 21:19

Also, this all happened (luckily) much faster than we thought (2nd week of honeymoon I think, in Australia) and I haven't been taking folic acid very long, too late now but fingers very crossed. What's the thoughts on vitamins? GP says no, but books and many websites say yes...anyone taking pregnacare? I'm a fish-eating veggie, so diet ok.
What's AF and D?

pollyanna · 29/06/2004 14:53

HI Batlady - congratulations!

I found that chewing gum was the only thing that helped too - I'm sure people thought I was very rude chewing permanently. I realised I was feeling a little better when I realised that I wasn't chewing permanently anymore.

I'm 12.5 weeks and have started telling people now - if they haven't guessed already.

I'm taking pregnacare - don't know if it's helping. It does contain folic acid too. I started taking it quite late too as I wasn't expecting to become pregnant either. I wasn't sure when the folic acid was needed by, so I thought I'd play it safe. Mindyou, I must need vitamins as my diet has gone to pot - I can only stomach bread (and lots of it) and plain yoghurt.

BatLady · 29/06/2004 17:02

This is such a fantastic find! What a lifesaver to be able to chat away. Have an awful scare going on today. Second period due today and I've got a bit of bleeding. Cramps yesterday and day before but thought they were wind as felt like it. Midwife has acted brilliantly fast and I have a scan booked in tomorrow afternoon. I still feel sick, so something's still going on. Lots and lots of great advice on this site but I have no idea whether to tell myself it'll be OK or whether to prepare myself for it not being....

Bakedbean · 29/06/2004 17:22

Hi there! Congrats BatLady!

Yes Pollyanna, had my scan too yesterday. Was all ok but the little wotsit wouldn't move around enough for them to test the fluid behind the neck. Just like its father - facing the camera and waving. The doctor and sonographer had me doing star jumps, eating, walking, weeing etc to try and make it move - it always turned around just enough and then moved back to face us again. Was so funny. She said she thinks everything looked absolutely fine, but I want to go back just to get an accurate reading, so am back on Tues. All other measurements were fine though and could see the heart beating, two feet, two hands etc. So exciting. I felt so sad while in there as there was a woman in there on her own who went in for her 12 week scan and had had a missed miscarriage. She really had no idea at all. Was awful and made me count my lucky stars.

pollyanna · 29/06/2004 22:21

Batlady, in my last pregnancy I had 3 lots of bleeding over 3 months when my period would have been due - so hopefully it is just this for you too.

Bakedbean, I was really worried when I went in for my scan - I hadn't even heard of missed miscarriages before I read Mumsnet, and now I know about them I was really worried. The scan does make it more real somehow - I was quite depressed about being pregnant really (it being the 4th and unplanned etc etc), but it was still really exciting to have the scan - I feel much more positive now.

Bakedbean · 30/06/2004 11:52

Good luck today BatLady - let us know how you get on

BatLady · 30/06/2004 15:02

Thank-you both ever so much - will let you know

chellybelly · 30/06/2004 22:17

Hi, yes I'm due on 12th January 2005. So I'm 11 weeks at the mo - this will be my 2nd. Looking forward to my scan in a couple of weeks. Chelle

muttley · 30/06/2004 22:37

Hi everyone. Its lovely to add to a thread of people who are all more or less at the same point as me. I'm a complete mess of emotions - beside myself with excitement, but can't get my head round it.. a big cry baby over nothing, and get moody with my poor DH for very little exhausted in a way I never imagined and getting MS though thats a big fat fib cos it lasts on and off all day (though thank God it seems to be better the last day or so). I'm due 24th Jan or thereabouts. I haven't had my booking in appointment yet, and my scan won't happen till I'm 14 weeks! (going on holiday for 2 weeks next Saturday - trust me to be going to a wine region in France when I'm off booze, creamy french cheeses and coffee) I have told everyone - basically cos I was so chuffed I couldn't keep quiet, and I had Just started treatment for infertility so really hadn't expected it would happen for months. (On that note, my sister who is a GP recommended that I lose a few Kg to get close to my ideal weight range, to help with PCOS. I did this and fell pregnant almost straight away.It may have been the Clomid I took for 2 mths but who knows.. something worked) Its good to read all your stories.

Wid · 03/07/2004 00:59

Hi everyone! I haven't been around for a few weeks coz I've been feeling so crap; just as I think I'm over the worst, the nausea and tiredness comes back with a vengeance.

Welcome, Mutley. I got pregnant this time round on Clomid after just one month. I had a scan on Friday and there's just one baby, but up until then I was convinced that there could be more. The scan dated me at 12+1, so my EDD is now 5th January - it's getting earlier, particlarly if this one comes at 39 weeks like DS.

Tomorrow I'm having a nuchal fold scan privately as it's not offered on the NHS here. Those of you who've also had it, was it private or NHS? My NHS scan looked at the nuchal thickness and apparently it looked within normal limits, but they said that they couldn't go into the detail that the specialist scan would. In conjunction with the nuchal scan I've also had a 'Primark' bloodtest and the results from both tests will give me a combined probability of Downs or Edwards Syndrome. At least I won't have to have any more tests now until my 19 week scan.

BigBird · 03/07/2004 12:19

hello all. Hope everyone is well. I heard the heartbeat on Fri (at 12+3) and what sounded like a little kick too ! Its great to have some reassurance. I hope the MS is easin for most of you.

Bakedbean · 03/07/2004 12:34

Hi everyone! Welcome Mutley - know what you mean about the moods!

Wid - I'm lucky that the nuchal test is done on the NHS where I live, I know that's quite rare though.

Congrats BigBird on the successful scan - it's such a nice feeling when you can see everything is ok!

BatLady - hope you're ok.

BatLady · 03/07/2004 15:38

YAHHOOO everything's fine! Had scan on Friday to check all OK and there was a little almost-baby shaped blob with a massive heart beating happily away! We were stunned! Scan was over so quickly that the fact that all was OK afterall only sunk in on the way home. They dated me too, so we're officially at excatly 9 weeks today. Wish they took photos every week. Thanks ever so much for your help BakedBean and Pollyanna ..

Bakedbean · 03/07/2004 16:35

Excellent BatLady! I'm so pleased for you!
