I'm not on the stats, can you add me please? EDD is 9th July x

Number3cometome · 16/01/2015 15:57

slightlyconfused85 congratulations! Will add you to the stats Smile

gluenotsoup · 16/01/2015 16:17

Hello! Please will you add me to the list too? Dc 3, age 39, due 12th July, so 14 plus 5 , in manchester.

broodylicious · 16/01/2015 16:25

nature, yep I'm knackered! Used to it though. I know what you mean re advice from well meaning friends; sick to death of people telling me how to get her to sleep thru in a manner that's totally against our style (I don't think I've hidden the fact we are hippy style parents so you can probably guess what we like/don't likeWink). It's like the second you become pg, people want to advise you, without invitation, on the "best" way to parent! What happened to free choice?! must admit I do occasionally Instagram things that will piss off the most vocal of those who've advised against doing what we doBlushGrin

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 16:56

I've been lurking until after my scan. nice to catch up on everyone's news. I'm really sorry about Pip, I remember her saying it was IVF and possibly last chance. So, so sad it bought tear to my eye.

I'm 14+4 today due 13th July. I'm on the spread sheet but think my stats might need updating as EDD is missing.

I've just about got over MS now. I'm still gagging a lot now though. No bump to speak of, I just look very fat and square!!

The scan was interesting as the little bubba wouldn't stay still and kept jumping up and down, as a consequence we didn't get a proper photo :( just a shot which is also blurred and difficult to work out if you're looking at the head or feet! It was amazing to see.

Anyone else not really feeling pregnant? I keep forgetting I'm pregnant and haven't started to bond with baby, it just all feels rather abstract. Hopefully it will start moving soon and it will feel more real.

Has anyone got a decent pregnancy book? I got the rough guide to pregnancy, it's ok but a bit glib and not enough detail for my liking. Also got expecting better (Emily Oster) which is good but mostly about risks so quite limited. I did pick up What to Expect When You're Expecting but found it really cheesy and American. I didn't buy it.

Any others people would recommend? Need something in hard copy to read to keep me off internet at bedtime!!

Can't believe people have babies that sleep through so early on, am desperately praying I get one of those this time! Mine have both not slept through until 2 years old… It's the major reason why we ummed & ahhed about whether to go for number 3 actually, as DH does not cope well with the sleep deprivation & it becomes a major source of conflict for us. Ho hum.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/01/2015 17:01

broody I just smile and nod every time someone tells me to try controlled crying or just to leave her to cry herself back to sleep.

Can you add my stats to the sheet please? EDD 7th July. Thank you Smile

SophieBarringtonWard · 16/01/2015 17:03

zampa thanks for the tip re: the sales! My work trousers are currently held up by safety pins so I desperately need to buy some black trousers to replace them… Still haven't told work but I think I am running out of time!

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 17:08

Does anyone know anything about Maxi cosi car seats please? We're first time parents and buying all big ticket items from John Lewis (because we like their service if something goes wrong).

We've decided to get a Baby Jogger City Mini GT buggy, so will go for a maxi cosi car seat to attach to it to make into a travel system (along with the deluxe BJ carrycot - unfortunately not available from JL).

But there are loads of maxi cosi models and bases I'm so confused!! There's a huge range of prices and I can't work out why. The one the assistant recommended was £150 for the base and £150 for the car seat - one of the most expensive. Do we really need to spend that much?! seems obscene. How long do they last?

The models that spring to mind are pebble and cabriofix.

We have an isofix attachment in our car so will probably go for one of those as I understand the other sort you use a seatbelt with. The assistant said using a seatbelt is not very safe and is a pain - is this true?

ohlordyplordy · 16/01/2015 17:09

Eek there is really a baby in there! A very bouncy one at that!

re: maternity wear. Just to say I bought some Jojo maman bebe black trousers (Wide leg) and they are so comfy. I'm quite curvy/tall and they are really flattering and length is good. They were expensive though at £35 and they pick up every bit of fluff which is rather annoying, but I'm so glad to have them. I'm more fat than bumpy right now, but can imagine them stretching very nicely to accommodate growing bump.

I also got a wrap maternity dress/ nursing dress in the Jojo sale, absolute bargain at £15. I've been wearing it and have received complements from people at work who never comment on my outfits.

Zampa · 16/01/2015 17:15

Congratulations to all on + scans.

Lucky The Pebble is a Which best buy and the one I had my eye on.

Sophie Another Manchester tip of which you may be aware is Lesters Nursery World in Cheetham Hill. V. bargainous.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/01/2015 17:17

Lucky we've got the cabriofix that we used with the family fix base. I think the base was £89 (I shopped around and waited for sales and got it from Mothercare in the end) and the seat was £120. We've just bought another Maxi Cosi as a second stage seat for DD aswell. I think they're great and worth the money, they consistently perform well in safety checks. Definitely shop around a bit though!

Oh and I found the base so much easier when DD was newborn than faffing around with the seatbelt every time.

broodylicious · 16/01/2015 17:24

lucky, we had the maxi cosi cabriofix with the easy fix base. I remember thinking it was blumin expensive for a base but it is so easy to use and didn't need the faff of a seatbelt. Easier to transfer baby as well, as you just clip it out and lift. I think if you're sticking to maxi cosi for the next stage seat, you may be better going the extra pounds and getting the family fix base. We didn't and went to Cybex for our next stage and love it, she'll be in it right up to 12.

twinky12 · 16/01/2015 17:25

lordy so happy for u Smile lovely scan can see a leg kicking out.

Ceejay14 · 16/01/2015 17:25

Number can you change me to 13 July due date please? Thanks

broodylicious · 16/01/2015 17:27

gottobe, yes exactly! CC/CIO is just not our thing and never will be!

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 17:28

Thanks Zampa for pointing out Pebble is a Which best buy - this will be why it is so expensive then (£150).

Thanks GotToBeInIt for review of cabriofix and family fix base. That will probably be the one we go for then as it is slightly cheaper - around £200 for the two bits. I think we will avoid seatbelt ones then. I'll shop around for the best price then take it to John Lewis to price match. Their never knowingly undersold policy applies to any shop which has a high street presence even if the deal is online - it's great!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/01/2015 17:29

Ooh actually I think ours is the easy fix too. Agree that it's worth shelling out for the family fix which then fits a second stage seat on it too, it will be cheaper in the long run.

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 17:32

broodylicious - I'll do anything for an easy life and avoid faffing about! If it clicks on and off easier then it sounds like it is worth the extra money.

Thanks for tips re: easy fix base Vs.family fix base, it might be better to spend the extra then have more choice.

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 17:36

Family fix is £150....eek! But I think that is what we will end up going for.

That's so expensive, why are car seats so bloomin expensive? I believe we're looking at buying 4 inc booster seat...That's over £700!

Only consolation is we can reuse them with future DC!

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 17:39

Sorry for being thick, but does the Easy base (currently £65 at JL) only fit a stage 1 baby seat and then it's redundant? Whereas the Family fix base will see through all the stages (but costs £150)

ohlordyplordy · 16/01/2015 17:40

Thanks twinkly it's such a relief. My dates were spot on, so still edd 28th july.
Is there anyone else still waiting for their first scan, or was I the last?

Luckystar82 · 16/01/2015 17:41

Think I'm getting confused. the EasyBase 2 (£65) is different to the Easy fix base which is currently £90! I think the EasyBase is a seatbelt type fix but can't be sure.

Told you I'm confused!!

LaLa5 · 16/01/2015 17:44

Lucky I have the pregnancy day by day book which is really good. www.amazon.co.uk/Day-Day-Pregnancy-Book-Comprehensive/dp/1405332107

I've got the rough guide too but I don't like it.

My dh has the expectant dad's survival guide and loves it
