how many kiddies have you NJ?

NatalieJane · 17/10/2006 14:06

I don't know anything about BP either, I had mine checked this morning and it was 70/120, haven't a clue what the numbers mean, but the m/w said it was fine.

It sounds like you have had a pretty rough time of it! How long do you have left?

I have a little boy, he is 4y and 7m, if you look a little way down the thread, there is a great big list of stats with everyones details on, feel free to add yourself

staceym11 · 17/10/2006 14:07

too far away from me then, we'r redhill (near croydon) so prob wouldnt be much use......just thinking in an emergency another mum might be useful (especially with los there) but i think im too far (and i cant even drive!)

contractions have worn off this afternoon, gunna have a lie down while dd is sleeping!

tiredandhormonal · 17/10/2006 14:14

i've 6 weeks left if the diabetes doesn't make him too big otherwise it's an early sunroof jobbie!

will be pleased when he's here

NatalieJane · 17/10/2006 14:15

Thanks Stacey, that is a realy nice thought, but we couldn't do that anyway. DS would hate it - sorry!! LOL It is for this same reason why we can't really ask our nextdoor neighbours unless it really was a life or death emergency sort of thing. We can't be the only ones who don't have childcare at hand that go on to have another child, so I am sure we will cope somehow. It is just bloody anoying that MIL has had the 'notice' that she wanted and she still won't help us out, it isn't as though we were asking her to watch him while we went and had a good time FFS!

Anyway, enjoy your nap Make the most of it!!

NatalieJane · 17/10/2006 14:16

Tired - So, I take it you are having a boy? Is he your first?

40Weeks · 17/10/2006 14:17

Poor you Tired, at least you are doing the right thing by being at home with feet up.
Totally know what you all mean about Mums - we are moving to my Mums for the birth as I want a home birth and am registered at the hospital near her and our house wont be ready to complete until the babys due date so too risky! But it was DH suggestion that we stay with my Mum bless him as I think he knows how important it is to have as much support as you can. And this is our first! Although have said I dont want her with me for delivery - I dont need an audience!

Delia · 17/10/2006 14:17

hi all, well what can i say you've kept me amused for the last 45 mins while i've been catching up and also made me feel exceptionaly (sp?) lucky. My Mum is the best and would drop anything at a seconds notice if i shouted and my MIL lives in a different country so don't have to deal with anything like you lot! sorry to seem smug. Am sending you all a shoulder, an ear and lots and lots of chocolate . DH is currently down the bottom of the garden putting up the fence whilst I am swearing at the washing machine as it has decided to go on the fritz - nothing like dripping wet towels!

Debz99 · 17/10/2006 14:18

I think my SPD is having a final "i'm gonna completely f*ck you up phase" i'm in agony after every movement I make, it hurts to walk short distances, stand and do 4 items of ironing, turn over in bed, bath, shower, put on clothes, wash my feet and shave my legs ! Was crying after doing some ironing last night felt a right idiot !

tiredandhormonal · 17/10/2006 14:19

NJ, yes and yes, we left it a little late so was worried about being the oldest in the antenatal class but there are a couple of other ladies on thier 2nd etc who look a little older thankfully.

tiredandhormonal · 17/10/2006 14:22

mum said she would come up but she looks after sisters baby so said i would be ok, being the eldest sucks, i could do with her here but don't want to upset the flow.

40Weeks · 17/10/2006 14:35

How many brothers and sisters do you have Tired? I have two older sisters - they both have two DS each, the eldest being 7 and the youngest being 3 so I have plenty of help at hand - thank goodness. And a fantastic NCT group too.
Confession - I went to the shop and bought chocolate - I think we all should and have a countrywide chocathon to make us all feel better!

i am really lucky my hubby does the cooking, cleaning, hoovering, ironing etc and has just painted the nursery, i wouldn't know what to do without him.

staceym11 · 17/10/2006 14:54

right, i really shouldnt be on here but cant seem to sit and do nothing and cant gather the enthusiasm to do anything.

am looking at tutoring stuff for my cousin still, sorted out his working age......its not as bad as i thought hes working at around 11 working age, and hes nearly 15, i thought this would be nearer 8 so a brill leap since i lsat saw him. has problems reading tho and have found a brill reading programme but it involves working every day so will have to try and coach my auntie to be able to teach him IYKWIM as auntie isnt up on reading/writing either (hence me tutoring him) i just think he will do so much better when he can understand what the questions etc were asking him!!!!

sorry to go off on a tangent, trying to ignor the contractions which are now back to 1 per hourr!

T&H what date are you due?

NatalieJane · 17/10/2006 15:34

Well the walk to get DS has kick started the contractions a bit earlier today, now just have to hope that they stay at every 8-10 minutes and don't get any more closer together, I really don't fancy a night at the hospital.

The m/w said if I end up at the hospital tonight they will probably use the same thing they use for a smear to 'open me up' and then they will visually watch my cervix as I have a contraction to see if it is changing anything. Why do they do this? Why can't I just be put on one of those machines I had with DS? It measured his heart beat and the strength of the contractions, I don't know the name of it. Surely to leave it all open like that is just inviting an infection in?

Debz99 · 17/10/2006 15:52

Mmmm don't like the sound of that either NJ I would put my foot down unless they insist it's for the health of LO. I agree with you they should be able to see if you are dilated and the strength of your contractions another way for example on the "Machine" they are alway banging on about ! They don't do that with the smear contraption normally when your in labour do they?

NatalieJane · 17/10/2006 15:58

I didn't have it last time, I really can't see why a normal internal (OK not my favourite pass time but surely better than being 'on show!') can't tell them what they need to know.

Debz99 · 17/10/2006 16:00

This may sound like a stupid question ...

And please dont panic i'm not in labour ... however can you go into labour even if LO head is not engaged ? Just wondered as I asked consultant if head was engaged yesterday and he said no ! So, was just curious if it can still happen with out it being engaged.

NatalieJane · 17/10/2006 16:04

You can certainly go into labour with a second child with out the head being engaged, so I assume you can with your first as well...

M/W today told me the head was down but not engaged, I didn't tell her I knew all of that already, or that he has been engaged a few times and then come back out, I can feel when he is in there and when he isn't!

40Weeks · 17/10/2006 16:04

Debz, from what I have read about it, it shouldnt matter. Sometimes the head engages at 36 weeks and sometimes it doesnt engage until labour so it really just depends
