Yeah doc is my GP ... Will wait for his call and see what he says he is generally very good I do have a lovely GP which makes a change I know, young and with it !

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 16:15

Thats good then - just didnt want you to go through want I went through as it was all totally unnecessary - there was nothing wrong (except for my feet looking like balloons!)

Charleesunnysunsun · 19/10/2006 18:56

Sigh so much for my good day!

DP is being a grumpy sod, just becuase im cooking dinner whilst having contractions im being stupid and putting the baby and me at risk blah blah blah, he seems to think im bloody stupid! grrrrrr

calsworld · 19/10/2006 19:18

Blimey guys - I've not been able to get on for a while and its taken me about an hour to catch up! NJ, you sound like you're feeling a bit better now, and you too Charlee - not long to go now....

I'm still working and plan to until 17th November, which gets me to two weeks within my EDD. I'm only just starting to struggle with tiredness and am trying to take it easy in the evenings - fortunately DP is really good - he's been working on the nursery every night this week after work, as well as cooking dinner.

We're planning on a home birth, DH wasn't too keen at first but at my 16 weeks appt. which he joined me on, the midwife was really pro and supportive - this is the midwife I wrote to the chief midwife (chief?) to change to and so I'm now with her. We only live a few minutes from the hospital but even if we lived a lot further away, I'd still be aiming for it....just need sign off from the hospital at 36 weeks (i'm under obs care at the moment because i take anti-depressants but because i've been quite chirpy all the way through should be ok) and will have a scan to check baby isn't too big to come out!

Reasons include less intervention and pain relief required as far more relaxed and able to have an active labour, no mrsa at home, midwife goes home - not DH (best bit IMO), if i do change my mind at any point its OK - much harder to make a late decision to have a home birth.

I'm also going to be talking to the mw about getting the birth pool in a box for use during labour...ideally i'd like to give birth in it but the midwife needs to be qualified for this so not sure if it'll be possible - i've craved being in water so much during pregnancy i just think it will really suit me...

Having said all this, will probably end up in hospital, high as a kite on gas & air, pethidine and begging for an epidural .

I'm so not prepared for this baby, but as mum and DH keep telling me, I've got nappies for its bum, food in my boobs and blankets to keep it warm so we can sort the rest after its born if necessary!

Sorry for long post, just feeling chirpy, if a little tired and wanted to catch up.....

Mummy2Toby · 19/10/2006 21:38

Evening all - well no change here with DH, I must just be being hormonal because I am sure he couldn't have changed that much, it is just that being pg and looking after a 23 months old ds who is not very well ontop of everything else make me realise how little dh actually does
Martine - what dress size are you, I have a really nice Debenhams maternity dress that may be okay for you, I am happy for you to borrow it, I only wore it twice to weddings, so is in great condition
NJ - I was wondering about the belly casts, but after the palarvour(sp?) we had trying to cast ds's feet when he was born, have decided against it Also had some proffessional pictures taken of us and bump last time around, but they make me feel ill to look at them now, so we won't be doing that again either!
Well I am off to do a tesco internet shop - I couldn't face going in there today. Take Care all

Morning all - was supposed to pack last night in prep for the move tomorrow but just couldnt face it as was so tired so me and DH snuggled up in bed at 8pm and watched TV and had lovely cuddles before dozing off. We are moving to Mums tomorrow and then by the time we get into our new house, bubba will be here and so we wanted to make the most of it as this is the last time we will live on our own together for a good while yet! And had a dream that I had a little girl...all the other dreams have been boys so its anyones guess! I still think pink tho....

NatalieJane · 20/10/2006 09:25

Mygirl, I am finding bribes are generally working with DS e.g. this morning we already had, "if you finish all of your cornflakes, you can have pittas instead of bread for your lunch" "put all of your uniform on the right way round and not inside out and you can have some fruit flakes in your lunch" Little does he know I had already made his lunch before he had even opened his eyes this morning!

The contractions carried on all day yesterday, had more of my show come out, very green and very urgh-ish looking, then last night I got DS into bed, settled down with DH on the floor, it is the only place I can get comfy at the moment, and they started coming every 7 and a half minutes spot on, the first one of the set lasted about 3 minutes, DH thought I was having a heart attack or something LOL Anyway they carried on for about an hour and a half in all, getting stronger each time, but never closer together, was just starting to wonder if this was it, and they went, just like that, didn't have another one until I went for a wee a bit later. I am nearly 100% sure that it is this irritable uterus thing the consultant was going on about. Problem with that is that this could all very easily still be going on in mid-December, that is a whole 2 months away!

How about something that will keep her busy for a while? Painting, play-doh, jigsaws etc. stuff that she can get on with on her own (obviously not on her own in the house or anything!!) will give you a bit of a break. DS used to love me getting the plastic tubs and the saucepans out on the floor for him to mess about with, not saying it was peacefull, but it kept him busy enough for me to have a few minutes to myself every now and then. (Sorry, if I am sounding like I am trying to teach a Grandma how to suck eggs!)

Last night I don't know if it was actually the baby that set it off, he was going mad inbetween the contractions but I couldn't remember if he had been going mad before or after they started, and then when they had stopped, I went for a wee a bit later and I had another one then, but the baby has had his mad 1/2 hour this morning and I have been to the loo loads, and haven't had any contractions, so it seems even if something sets it off once, it doesn't mean it will do again IYSWIM?

LOL I do the stashing toys away as well, it is funny because he never notices when something dissapears (except if it is red dog - his little teddy) but when I bring it back out I get "Mum, I've been looking for that for aaaaages"

Likewise with triggering the contractions, sometimes the walk up to get DS sometimes starts them, and then sometimes I get nothing. It is the varying strengths of them that I find most weird, probably because it is drilled into you that contractions get stronger and stronger not have you bent over double one minute and then wondering if it actually is a contraction or if LO is just sat funny the next!

As much as the hiccups can be a little bit annoying (if you are sat trying to concentrate on a film or something) I do absolutely love it when he gets them. And I find depending on where his back is, sometimes it feels like a pulse deep down inside my belly, and othertimes if his back is against my skin, you see my belly jumping about with them I love it, it feels like it gives you a better insight in to him already.

NatalieJane · 20/10/2006 12:20

It is very quiet on this thread this morning, are people too busy giving birth???!

Bethbe · 20/10/2006 12:37

I'm not!

Nothing's happening......boring!!!!

But then I do have four weeks to go, but from family history am expecting it to be 6!

That's why I'm still at work! Official maternity leave begins on due date (but have taken two weeks holiday before!

Afternoon, i had my consultant appointment this morning. They did another scan especailly for DS to see the baby which i thought was really nice for him and nice for me to get another glimpse.

It's a big bugger! She woldn't tell me the sex and didn;t scan that area so i couldn't see but i saw the rest of it sucking it's thumb, poor thing's all screwed up with no room to move with it's head wedged right down. Its got a huge belly and head. She commented that it was a 'good sized baby' and asked me what my girls names where so don't know if she saw something i didn't!

Appart from that it wasn't to productive as the bloody hospital never got round to giving me my kidney scan so they couldn;t do alot today. There was still a trace of protine and blood in my urine sample but alot less than before which is good. They think that maybe my uterus is pushing on my kidneys causing all the problems so it should right itself after baby is here.

She thinks i will have a very quick labour not sure why but she said she reckons no longer than 4hrs but probably alot quicker.

She's also recomending i be induced if i get to 40 weeks but i have to discuss that with the top dog consultant next friday.

I have quite a bit of pains in my hips today and baby has constant hiccups like the pulse you described, it was quiet untill they did the scan so it must have woken it up!

Hi everyone,

My last day at work today. 5 weeks to go, but dd's half term next week (she's 3.5), so going early to look after her and get lots of cuddles before the arrival!

My dd told her dad she has a new name for me. I have been, perhaps, a little moody and tired lately (I wonder why?...). She said "When mum's grumpy, I call her 'mump'. Now dh is calling me 'mump' too, and I can see it sticking for the next 20 years....

Feeling much more comfortable now that baby has turned head down, heartburn has got better and sleeping better - definitely waddling though. Feeling pretty chirpy at the mo' (for a 'mump' that is)

40Weeks · 20/10/2006 13:50

Afternoon all. Now you mention it, my heartburn has eased right off this week, perhaps the baby's head is engaging - I am seeing the MW this afternoon so hopefully she will tell me!

pinkmagic1 · 20/10/2006 13:57

Only just over 2 weeks to go till my due date now and starting to absolutely sh*t myself!!
Havn't had much time for mumsnet recently, has anyone on the November thread actually given birth yet?

harrogatemum · 20/10/2006 14:04

Hi pinkmagic - no, we are all still hanging in there, no-one yet popped! Unless they have but have not had time to come on and tell us all about it yet!

Have a great weekend all

NatalieJane · 20/10/2006 15:33

Just realised I am 35 weeks tomorrow, it is the first time I have thought about it all week, have been too worried about being 34 weeks and going into labour! I can't believe it has been 30 odd weeks since we found out I was pregnant.I think the next 30 weeks are going to be even more exciting and tiring and lovely and horrible all at the same time!!

NatalieJane · 20/10/2006 15:33

Oh, Martine, some of us have added where we live to the stat's list
