HI Guys, I am still confused, so please join me on this one.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Livejournal is a blogging site Castles. Online diary etc etc. Quite a nice one, has various communities going.

Weirdbird I'm on there as Indith (never changes, I'm far too forgetful to have different usernames for things!) feel free to look me up, not that I update it that often.

Loulou000 · 27/10/2006 10:30

Jabber, what was your stroller that used a car seat as the newborn bit? Oh, just read further on about travel systems... I think it's starting to make sense. I need to go and look at a whole range and get a feel for what the different types are like to handle. What would I do without Mnet?

Surely hospital has to let you leave without a car seat if you put baby in a sling and tell them you're going to get on a bus...?

I've gone from DD cup to bursting out of an E. Would be good for my sex life if I still had one.

p555nat · 27/10/2006 10:35

I got a Maxi cosi car seat and adapters that attach it to my bugaboo. So is she is sleeping I don't have to wake her up. Not sure if thats relevant? Also not sure about hositals rules, I have heard they are getting stricter about letting you leave without a carseat! Maybe you could borrow one for the big day?

VanillaMilkshake · 27/10/2006 10:57

Morning all,

Apologies for my final rant of last night . However I am in a better slightly more awake (only slightly mind) frame of mind, and now plotting how to manipulate the visit to my advantage.

Woke up at 3.45am this morning and lay there tossing and tunring for 3 hours before dropping off only to be wokend 30 minutes later by DD. However she was very good and came in for cuddle or played quietly beside me so I managed anohter 45 minutes.

Have made marshmallow squares for a halloween party that DD is off to tonight. Added some green food colouring - however combined with toffee is not not witch face green but bogey green - still kids eat anything dont they?

I have the tubi-grip back on my leg today as the veins are playing up again. Perhaps I could use this as an excuse and postpone Sunday's visit all together - after all being sat in a car for 2 hours is not going tobe good for achey legs or bladder is it???

Anyway wish you all a good day. X

Loulou000 · 27/10/2006 12:06

Don't apologise Vanilla, having somewhere to rant is just one of mumsnet's many marvels. But yes, I am sure such a long drive wouldn't do your legs any good at all... unless you want to go, that is.

magnolia1 · 27/10/2006 12:10

Surely hospital has to let you leave without a car seat if you put baby in a sling and tell them you're going to get on a bus...?

Loulou: They would not want you getting on a bus just after giving birth anyway so thats another reason they insist on car/taxi to get you home

jabberthefriendlyghost · 27/10/2006 12:15

Welcome, p555nat. I'm sure there'll be some of us going over into January. Not me, though

loulou, this is very similar to what we bought for ds. The car seat attaches kind of to the top of the stroller for newborn and pops on and off the stroller and onto the base that you put in the car. I didn't see the exact one we have, but dh bought it and I never really liked the color so it's just as well

p555nat · 27/10/2006 12:30

Loulou000 - dito on the sex life thing!!! Brain really wants too but body says ...err no chance!!!

Resorted to having weird dreams about having an affair with Gordon Ramsey!!! TM (too much)!!!

babypowder · 27/10/2006 12:41

P555nat, all my 'affair' dreams are currently about Gordon Brown! Maybe I'm hoping he's going to increase SMP as an early Xmas present to us all .
Why is everything going wrong all at once? Besides the type D antibodies, now have severe anaemia, SPD (and an unattractive support that I can only wear when I'm on my feet), my cat has been diagnosed as diabetic, my chickens have mites, I have a cold ...
On the bright side, have finished posting Xmas gifts to the folks over the pond, so at least something's moving in the right direction!
I'll maybe go and eat some G&B cherry to cheer myself up.

weirdbird · 27/10/2006 12:47

I am trying very hard to keep my feet on the ground and that the chances are they are not going to pull my due date forward, but ohhhhhh it would be so nice if they did....

My body doesnt seem to realise that logistically sex is just about impossible and I am still stupidly horny and am finding my DH super attractive at the moment.

I am weird-bird on LJ as well

judemum · 27/10/2006 12:53

Sorry- have not been having wet dreams about any Gordons. Flash Gordon anyone?

Hi P555nat- your name is very hard to replicate, so mind it I call you pnat?

I sympathise with the mites on chickens point. One of my cats has decided to develop some sort of cyst on its chin. Makes me want to puke when I look at it actually, but trying hard to be sympathetic without actually touching it...

judemum · 27/10/2006 12:54

off to buy jelly, swiss roll and fruit cocktail to make a trifle for party tomorrow. Am hoping no one else really has any so I can scoff it.

p555nat · 27/10/2006 12:58

Olbas oil for cold, chocolate milk and childrens breakfast cereal works to cheer me up!

Gordon Brown....I'll stick to Ramsey! Feeling suitabley grumpy and fed up for no apparent reason today!! choc milk at the ready!

jabberthefriendlyghost · 27/10/2006 12:59

Sex is stil possible, although a little creativity is called for I have to say, though, the thought of it is now better than the atual process, IYKWIM. Lots of, "Oh, wait a minute, that's not going to work," etc.

p555nat · 27/10/2006 13:05

pnats fine, although it does sound like something you might find on babypowders chickens????

VanillaMilkshake · 27/10/2006 13:17

I am having fantasies of just about any hairy, handsome man on horse back which I see (yes am big Lord of Rings, Troy, King Arthur fan) swoon.

However any ideas of sex were blasted out of my body completely in the early hours of this moring by bump headbutting my pelvic floor so hard I literally was preparing to go and phone DH at work to say my waters had gone! I could literally feel air being pushed out of my cervix (like fanny fart ) each time bump did it.

p555nat · 27/10/2006 13:22

Ouch, look forward to getting those!!

don't even fancy Ramsey, must stop watching fword b4 bed! Think the fact he makes yummy food perhaps gave him a head start!

I think I'll try watching Jonny Depp movies or italian football before bed in future!

castlesintheair · 27/10/2006 13:34

Ta Indith, will take a gander at LiveJournal. Anything to get out of the 1,000,000 + 1 things that need doing about the house

p555nat · 27/10/2006 13:39

Wish I was at home and not at stupid work!! Finish nx Tuesday!!! Can't wait!!! So bored ...

castlesintheair · 27/10/2006 13:43

Sorry to change the subject is anyone planning on getting any help post-birth, like a Doula? Has anyone had a post-natal one before?

p555nat · 27/10/2006 13:56

I have been looking into Maternity nurses for the first 2wks of when we bring baby home. I wanted someone in to show me how to do everything, only Mon - Fri in the day time. But haven't found anyone suitable yet. Not sure if thats what you meant ....

VanillaMilkshake · 27/10/2006 14:03

There are loads of things I would like someone to come and help me with pre-labour, ironing, cleaning the oven/grill, dusting the wood floors under the furniture....I could go on!

But after the baby arrives I cant wait to shut the world out just me DH, DD and bump - no help required!

castlesintheair · 27/10/2006 14:04

No a Doula is different to a Maternity Nurse, P555nat. Doula's are cheaper (I think) and only do about 4 hours a day post-birth. Maternity Nurses live in, get up in the night etc etc and totally focus on the newborn. I'd LOVE one of those as well!!

I just wondered what others experiences are of Doulas. I've left it a bit late (as usual) but will need help getting DCs to school etc, helping lift around the house post c-section.

judemum · 27/10/2006 14:08

pnat- being nosy here- how come you're finishing so early if you're not due until Jan 9th? I am due on dec 15th and not finishing until the 1st dec

Anyone else care to share their pre-baby maternity leave stats with me and make me feel better that am working up to 2 weeks before??!

lucy5 · 27/10/2006 14:08

Hola! Well you will be glad to know that it is still pouring down in sunny Spain and is actually a bit chilly, Thank god!

Eli, glad to have finally made contact!
